Clean rooms, friendly staff, very pleased with our stay.

Enjoyed our stay immensely. Clean rooms. Beautiful location. Ate outside at the restaurant patio. Excellent service. Just the nicest people. It's a hidden gem! we love arcadia valley — — pilot knob mtn and shepherd's mtn. Perfect getaway area. So much to see and do here.

The staff was awesome. The bed was comfortable and the shower head provided outstanding water flow.

Incredible staff and cute hotel in an amazing little town with a slice of history. I highly recommend visiting the area and if so Fort Davidson is the place to stay. Let friendly, knowledgeable, friendly, clean and comfy! Outdoor pool is nice. Ample parking.

Awe-inspiring. Seeing the remnants of the small, dirt fort really got me after we visited the museum/visitors center. They explain in such detail how the battle took place that you can almost feel the ghosts of the past when looking up at Shepherd mountain where General Price's men launched the attack on the fort. If you like learning about history at all, this place is a must-see.

Wow! Very large and well set up history visit. To my astonishment, the earthen fort and the crater left by the gun powder blast are still very visible. It gives you a real sense of the battles that occurred there. Great interpretive signs outside around the fields provide a play by play, to give you a sense of how one of the biggest clashes of North and South really went down.

Very detailed pictures and descriptions. Would Definitely go and visit again. 100% recommended.

Such a beautiful small town USA place to visit. So much history and artifacts found on the battle location. Awesome.

Had the best given explanation from a gentleman at the museum. And given local tips and advice for places to see. My bf and I went with a friend and could not be happier for the experience. Glad to have come all the way from a Chicago for a first hand experience. Along with some educational information on what the confederate flag and the stable boy meanings were at folks driveways. Definitely make a stop at Elephant rocks, shut ins, the city of Caledonia and stop at Mercantile for homemade ice cream and nostalgic candy, Taum Sauk, and parks bluff for rafting. And a great homemade cooked meal at Paula’s in Lesterville. Hope to come back again!

Great historical site with friendly staff. Make sure to ask staff to turn on the middle display, that does a great explanation of what happen. Staff will take groups on outside tour.

Well kept grounds, informative visitors center. Hard to imagine such a slaughter so long ago in this now peaceful place. Perhaps the greatest honor is to quietly remember those who fell in battle.

We visited Elephant Rocks SP & after we visited Fort Davidson & had a picnic at one of the several pavilions. Visited the visitor center & then the fort. Tons of history in this place, must see in my opinion.

Neat place not much to see there is a Museum and the foundation of the Fort but other then that not much to really look at. Phone reception is not very good there. Even though there isn't much to look at the museum has some neat information about the battle and those associated with it.

Interesting visitors center with well-done video explaining history & significance of the site. Earthen fort is very interesting to explore. Coupled with visits to nearby markers of the battle, makes for a wonderful historical learning experience.

Nice park. My family and I go to the Civil War 're-enactment there which is held every three years. Lots of fun with a lot of booths selling food ; drinks; and merchandise.

Small park with a whole lot of nothing, for the most part it's deserted 95% of the time. Definitely not a trip you make plans for, more like a stopping point on the way to someplace better.

Great spot for a field trip, my kids loved running around and posing with cannons, there is a 17 minute video you can watch, and they have several restored battle flags and weapons. Was going to pop in for a minute for the memories of being there as a kid, but we ended up spending more than an hour there!

The fort was subjected to the opening engagement of a confederate general during his raid, where a bloody battle waged on September 27th, 1864. Over a thousand confederate lives were lost in an attempt to take the fort. The deep moat, steep walls, covered fire, and Ketchum Hand Grenades kept the southerners at bay. Today you can still see the remains of the fort's earthen works jutting from the landscape. Signs that depict the battle in chronological order guide you through the battlegrounds. A modest museum set with Civil War artifacts, an educational video, and exhibits will tickle your intrigue. Park benches, well-cut grass, and shady trees gives this historic site a superb picnic location. Stop by for a quick taste of history, or your lunch.

Great place to visit for any history fanatic, or anyone for that matter. A huge amount of Missouri's history. A must see for a Civil War buff.

If you are a history geek you will like it. My brother and I were up on the mountain in the background looking for artifacts. That's were the Confederate soldiers had to cannons shelling the fort.

Short visit for a small park. Visitor center is well laid out, and had some nice exhibits. A few were not functioning. The grounds are maintained bit the fort has very little information inside the old fort itself.

This was a great place to stay. The w oman at the front desk was very helpful and informative. I loved how close it was to the state parks. The room was very clean and had everything we needed.

Very clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay very much. My boyfriend and I visited for a hiking trip and the motel was in a perfect spot for all the outdoor places we wanted to go to.

Great little motel with an outdoor pool. It looked newly remodeled and was clean. Friendly and sweet woman checked us in, I believe she is the owner. We came through on a cross country bike trip and it was a much needed rest in a nice place!

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and we both really enjoyed it. The staff is helpful and very friendly, the room we stayed in was amazing, and all for such a great price! The hotel is right across the street from Fort Davidson which I visited as a child, so it brought back some good memories! I highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed here for three nights, while visiting natural attractions in the Arcadia Valley area, based largely on other reviews. We were not disappointed! It's the perfect, central location for visiting Elephant Rocks, Johnson Shut-Ins, Taum Sauk mountain, Castor River Shut-Ins (our favorite snorkeling and swimming hole, as it is much less "touristy"), and historic Civil War Ft. Davidson, which is right across the street. It may look a bit nostalgic on the outside, which we actually like, but inside is a very nice room. Drive right up to your door and unlock it with a real key… Spacious rooms that were VERY clean (we had room 32 & 33), great water pressure in the shower, comfortable queen size beds, large flat screen with 100 channels, mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot. The AC will freeze you out if want it to, lol. Nice, solid walls and exterior stone make for a nice, quiet night's sleep. Everything worked as it should and we would stay here again. We've paid considerably more, at other hotels, and had much less pleasant stays. The proprietor, Becky, is a delightful lady and it is obvious that she really cares about her hotel.

My family recently stayed at the Fort Davidson Hotel on a visit to Elephant Rocks and Johnson Shut Ins. The pull out couch in our suite was super comfortable and the master bedroom was very nice as well. Clean, quiet and accommodating. After a busy day of swimming and hiking this was the place to go and enjoy their swimming pool and relax. We highly recommend!

Recently remodeled room. Clean and quiet. Only complaint: slow and spotty Wi-Fi.

My family is from the area and we go down usually twice a summer. The motel staff is always very helpful and willing to do whatever they need to in order to make our stay memorable. Great location and service. A+.

We stay at the Fort Davison Motel every couple years for our family reunion and it's a great place to stay, its clean, the staff is always friendly and they have an outdoor pool. Its right across the street from the Fort Davidson Battlefield and pavillion.
