Reviews of The Myrtles 4*
Sooo beautiful! Stayed as a spooky bucket list check off. It was peaceful and relaxing. You can wonder the grounds and take a tour of the house. The 1796 Restaurant at the plantation was super good! Although things were really quiet from a paranormal viewpoint, we enjoyed it. I will be back and maybe stay in the house next time!
Had a great time this past weekend! I was a bit reluctant to stay overnight to say the least, but it ended up being a pretty fun time touring the grounds and hanging out with some of the other guests. Would definitely recommend!
Love the history of this place. This was my 4th visit and Reid was by far the best tour guide. Highly recommend visiting here.
Stayed in the William Winters Room. Service and the friendly atmosphere were fantastic. We ate at the on-site restaurant and the steak was cooked to perfection. The morning breakfast was the best we had at any hotel provided breakfast I would definitely stay there again. It was quiet, clean and comfortable.
I absolutely LOVE this place! The energy is amazing and the employees are very friendly and I really enjoyed our conversations with them.
It was very interesting. The grounds and house was very beautiful. Our tour guide did a great job and was very enthusiastic. I totally loved it amd highly recommend it if you love touring plantation homes our like good ghost stories.
We had a very relaxing enjoyable stay. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and made the home come alive. Food was great. Will return. Highly recommend ❤️❤️❤️
Our stay was grwat. The tour guide Tom was very knowledgeable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.
Not only is the property beautiful and very well kept, the workers are very nice. We felt like family immediately. The grounds are well kept and you have to meet "ghost". He's friendly but likes cat treats. Lol. There are gease that live on the grounds because there is a beautiful pond. We fed them bread and crackers. As for the the hauntings there's no question, they are there.
Terrible accommodations
Bed was terrible…, no tv…
We walked away…
Staff offered no refund whatsoever.
Shelly was an amazing tour guide and the property was more beautiful than any TV show could show you. The pond was a little cheaply over the top decorated and out of place. The restaurant literally smelled as though they burned the edges of the menu as I walked in. The smell killed my asthma. The food was edible but ridiculously priced and the bar was a joke. Our waitress seemed new but was really sweet. I'll go back and stay the night one day when we find an opening. Overall I enjoyed myself:)
Unique and beautiful plantation. Our mystery tour was very well done by Tom. Staff very welcoming. Did not stay the night but definitely on the bucket list.
The staff are all very helpful and nice. The tours were very in depth and I learned a lot. The rooms are cozy and cute and the breakfast was delicious.
The Myrtles Plantation is truly one of the best plantation homes and bed and breakfasts to visit in south Louisiana. It is one of the few plantations that you can actually spend the night in, although there are other options from brand new hotel like rooms and private cabins on the grounds. I have visited overnight twice in the past few weeks and have had excellent stays. It is very peaceful and offers much relaxation with comfortable, clean accommodations with an extremely friendly hospitable staff. Even the owner is on site and very hospitable. Also, it is truly a mysterious place as it is historical. Rather you are a history buff, a ghost hunter, or simply seeking true relaxation from a southern bed and breakfast, or all of these — the Myrtles is the place to go. It is nice to see the owners take pride in their property and believe me — it shows. Special thanks to Mary-Glenn (forgive me if I forgot the correct name) from the reception staff — she was amazing! And job well done to Morgan — owner — for an excellent breakfast. Also — I forget his name, but the maintenance guy is extremely friendly as well. Finally — thanks to Mike the Cat for keeping me company at night when I was the only guest on property!
I had more fun than ever. Even though the tours are closed Linda was still kind enough to show my husband and I the downstairs of the house and tell us the history. We had the whole mansion to ourselves which was fantastic honestly. It was peaceful and it was just what we needed. We stayed a total of 5 nights. We originally intended to stay 4 but we had such an amazing time we added a night. Two of those in the Fannie Williams room and the other 3 in the Judge Woodruff suite. The Fannie Williams room is small and quaint. My only issue with that room was the bed was very squeaky so if you move it’s hard to sleep because it’s so noisy. I personally didn’t see much action in that room. The Woodruff suite is a very large room and the bed was not squeaky lol! I really enjoyed that room because it had a bathroom in-suite and access to the famous staircase. This room was the one where we had the paranormal experiences. We heard footsteps all night long one night. That same night we were eating dinner in the sitting area and we heard the front door downstairs close like someone was leaving but we never heard it open. Considering Matt and I were the only living people staying in the mansion that night that was strange. I heard a lot of whispering throughout the stay. This truly is a special place and I have wanted to go here for the longest time. The property is so beautiful and green.
The Myrtles is a great place to visit and a wonderful place to work. I took this picture Thanksgiving weekend 2019.
The tour and history of the Plantation were very interesting.
the night my cousin and I stayed there we were all alone on the top floor. It was a long night.
our room was so unbearably hot even after turning the heat completely off. Strange night.
Omgoodness myrtles plantation is a lovely place.
me & the hubby decided to try the restaurant it was so yummy. We had the crawfish toast which was freaking incredible, would give my right arm for that recipe. Amazing place.
The restaurant was amazing! We can’t wait to go back. Service, drinks, meal and dessert were top notch!
The staff was amazing! The grounds and the home were well kept and beautiful. The restaurant 1796 had some great food, and the morning breakfast was super tasty! Would come back again! Lots of information and attention to detail.
Great bed and breakfast. Complementary breakfast was delicious. Night tour was fun.
Nice clean place. Grounds well keep and clean. Wonderful staff.
Fun tour great food friendly staff.
I loved the atmosphere and the history! The restaurant 1796 was amazing, as well as, the breakfast! Staff was wonderful and the place was very clean and well maintained!
Very beautiful home. Staff is very friendly and insightful. Staying here was on our bucket list. It was so worth it to come.
I don't really believe in ghosts and all that but I did like staying here. I would like going back again some day. Only complaint is that I did not care for the food in the restaurant. Ordered a medium well ribeye steak and came out rare and sent it back. Even then it was tough and did not have good seasoning or flavor.
Very nice place, very well managed. And good restaurant.
The Myrtles Plantation has amazing staff! This was my third time visiting because I love it so much, and Hester was by far the best tour guide we have had. My aunt said the same thing and she has been 10 times or more! I hope to see her as my tour guide when I come back!
The staff are amazing! So friendly & genuinely interested in making your stay everything you hope for!
Loves my stay there. They stagg was amazing, the warm nights wonderful, the breakfasts wonderful! Felt as if I should stay forever there. Like belonged there.
The guided tour of the plantation house was very detailed and gave a pretty good insight of how life was during that period. They have had a big fire recently so there is some repairs being done but it looks like it is being professionally done and I hope to be able to see the finished results. If you are in the area, go on and pay them a visit.
So beautifully kept. It's like stepping back through time. Our tour guide was full of information and was amazing. Definitely a must see. The gardens are breath taking as well as the house.
We stopped by to look at the exterior of the plantation and to play Pokemon Go. The driveway is framed by lovely trees and what we saw (all outside and near the buildings and parking area) was quite pretty. There seemed to be a few people coming from a restaurant and I could tell that they looked as though they had enjoyed their experience. I felt that the area was lovely enough that I certainly wouldn't mind spending more time on the property!
Such a beautiful, historic place! The grounds and landscaping are absolutely gorgeous. The people were extremely friendly and accommodating. The evening tour was sold out, but one of the guides was so kind as to make room for us. Truly a nice experience. The gift shop was nice, pralines weren't worth the money, but I was happy with the rest of the purchases. Rented a cabin in the area, but after visiting the plantation, I will return to the area and stay at The Myrtles next time.
Beautiful place, the house is well taken care of, it looks like you could move right in. The thing I think really detracts from the whole experience is the building of the new event center. Really, couldn't you have built them on the backside of the property? They take away from the beautiful front of the property (where you can almost imagine you are back in. The 1800's). But otherwise the tour was fantastic, great guide and looking forward to the time I come back and stay over nite in the house.
The staff, rooms, breakfast and tours were amazing! Highly recommend! Can’t wait to come back!
We stayed in the Cypress cabin for two nights, and we mainly were there for R&R. Everybody was friendly, and we met the owner John at breakfast, very personable. After we left the Myrtle's we headed to the French Quarters for 4 days and nights. I recommend if you looking for R&R one of the cabins are quiet and rustic, but if you're a Ghost Hunter and looking for the Paranormal you would want to stay in one of the rooms inside the plantation house.
Stayed in the Crepe Myrtle cabin with three other friends for the weekend. Cabin was clean and cute although it was without a fridge and a TV. We did the complementary day tour as well as the paid night ghost tour. The two tours took you through the same rooms and half of the tours are the exact same. The only difference between the two tours is the later half of the night tour the guide then talks about the different hauntings. The "plantation-style" breakfast consists of scrambled eggs, grits, sausage patties, fruit, yogurt, biscuits, scones, and assorted single serving cereals. The cinnamon scone was the best scone I ever had. It was not crumbly or dry like typical scones. The staff are nice and friendly.
The plantation is beautifully taken care of. The staff, and even people who live in the town are very helpful and friendly! I would recommend everyone to come visit!
I loved the tour guide and seeing the old house. He was very animated, kind, and knowledgeable. It is definitely a little tacky looking to Louisianians who have visited other, large plantations, but I feel like it would be worth spending the night (even for people from LA) to actually capture a haunted aspect rather than just looking around. Overall it was worth the experience of the tour, and me and my sister are convinced we want to stay the night.
Beautifully haunting. We stayed the night in the Caretakers cabin. Although nothing strange happened, you can feel a different energy all over the plantation. The staff is wonderful and very hospitable. We want to come back and stay in the house. Highly recommend a visit.
What a beautiful place to stay! We had a great experience. Everyone was helpful & friendly. We stayed in General Bradford's suite. Huge & comfortable. Very nice breakfast too! PS the night tour is not complimentary so buy tickets! We didn't know that until it was too late.
This was our last stop for our senior trip. The staff was so welcoming from the moment we got out of the car and our tour guide (I forgot his name) was very passionate about telling the stories and very informative. Mrs Hester is definitely such a sweet lady to meet and we loved her! Me and my mom stayed in the John Leake room and witnessed rustling around in our bags, footsteps, items falling in the middle of the night, and something tapping my foot. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a scare or just curious about the supernatural!
Fun day date. The grounds are beautiful and so relaxing to walk through. The tour guide was knowledgeable, even though we didnt witness anything out of the ordinary, we still enjoyed our time here.
My husband and I did the one hour nightly ghost tour. We got there about 30 mins early to look around. The grounds are stunning, and great for pics. The tour was fun, and the tour guide was fantastic. They encourage picture taking, but without the flash. We did have some experiences while we were there. The only thing I was disappointed about was not getting a tour of the upstairs. I'm sure they have their reasons, and if that detail is on their website, then I missed it. I would go again.
We only went one night. We had been wanting to go for years. We stayed in the Caretakers Cottage. It was very comfortable. The grounds, home and cottages are beautiful! The people very friendly. Definitely would visit again. Yes, we did have activity in our room. Incredible!
Absolutely amazing. Ghosts show during the daylight hours. Tour was great, grounds well taken care of and can't wait to go back.
Sending chills down the spines of anyone who listens to the story of the house told by the tour guides dressed in full 1800s attire. Tour guide really known what she is talking about as she speaks with enthusiasm. Beautiful furniture that you can now take pictures of.
Great experience, the tour was a history lesson and very intriguing! We loved the mystery to it all as well as the beauty of the land and house. My husband took me here for Valentine's day, best gift ever. If we lived closer, we would stay over night for sure.
12 years ago my daughter was going to have an afternoon wedding at Hemingbough so we decided to have the wedding breakfast at the Myrtles. I keep looking for a ghost but never saw one. I took a lot of pictures of the house and grounds. Sure enough, when I got my printed pictures back there was a lady's spirit standing on top of the roof of one of the houses. I had the pictures checked and everyone agreed with me that it was the plantation's housekeeper that had died there many years ago. This was in the middle of the day too. I would love to go back.
You friksiny freaks, you didn't give me my refund, because I'm a Jewish Negro who believes in an ancient legend about anime.
Me and my cousin went here for the tour. The tour guide gave such a wonderful account of the plantation's spooky past. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would visit again if I am that way again.
I have stayed here twice now, I enjoyed the tour now, you can take pictures now and the young lady that does the tours is much friendlier than the older woman we had on our first time staying. My wife and I spent the night on 08-10-2017, we didn't really enjoy it due to the other guests. There were 2 couples who pretty much ruined the whole experience, we were the only people from Texas and Hispanic which shouldn't be a problem however when we first arrived I noticed they kept staring at us a lot, throughout the entire stay. They have tours throughout the entire day and in the evening you have the entire house/grounds to yourself. The 2 couples and their friends took up the courtyard and were drinking alcohol, they were pretty loud and rowdy, especially the fat guy. My wife and I were sitting on a corner of the courtyard trying to enjoy our time there, they started talking about Trump and "build the wall", which was not necessary and stupid. One of the women in their group even came with her cell phone flashlight and walked towards us to make sure "she wasn't seeing a ghost", she comes up to us and says "oh I thought I was seeing ghosts, haha". Those people had no manners. They ended up sleeping around 2am, it was quiet after that. On our most recent stay which was 12-16-2017 our stay was much more pleasant, we had the suite and the guests that stayed there this time were much nicer and considerate, the tour was great and it was relatively quiet.
Went with the wife and almost decided to stay in one of their rooms but we decided to stick with the plan we already had. We did get to see the rooms in the old house and it would have been an adventure. I like how they keep the rooms dated back with the exception to a couple of rooms. There is a couple of rooms that they put a modern bathroom in. Staff is extremely friendly and is waiting on any questions you might have.
My girlfriends & I stayed over for 1 night in The Coco House. It was a first visit for all 5 of us. The grounds are beautiful, the workers are all super friendly & breakfast is delicious! We went on the free tour of the home & I believe Chloe was with us as we can see her in a picture I took. We will definitely visit again!
Charming, stayed on Halloween and took the tour. This place is very interesting. This was our second trip there and the first trip was awesome as well. The B&B is def worth staying at for coming in to contact with spirits. Total skeptic when we first went but no longer.
Really interesting tour given by Terri today. She gave very detailed info about The Myrtle's history. It was "not your ordinary" tour of an old home. She was very enthusiastic and seemed to really be enjoying herself. She was a very good guide.
The Myrtles Plantation is one of the best vacations I have ever had, planned on staying for 2 nights and stayed 3. My best friend and I stayed at The Coco House and the beds were so comfortable and the linens were so white and smelled delightful. The country breakfast was great and the staff did everything they could to make you comfortable as if you were family. Shout out to Rennie Sawyer our Hostess and Ms Hester who was our Historian. I will go back again and yes it is haunted.
Beautiful historical property. Given, my Husband and I came at my personal request for two reasons: 1. RICH in history and 2. It is reportedly haunted. Upon our arrival, driving up to the house was as relaxing as it gets. The entire property is just jaw dropping to me. Ok so onto the experience… we checked in at the General Store and were greeted warmly. We were taken to our room, which was the Gen. David Bradford suite, we were told the story behind him and we settled ourselves in. Now you must prepare if you go, this house is OLD and has the aroma of a really old house. There is a tour of the house included with your stay, so when the bell rang, we went on the tour. There are a few ladies who do the tours and I would say they are all well versed in their knowledge of the house… which kept the tour interesting. I did snap a pic of what seemed to be orbs to me, but haven’t uploaded it yet. We went to eat after the tour at Saint Francis Table… delicious! Awaiting nightfall back at the house, we met with a few of the other guests. Everyone is there for the same thing, so it’s easy to strike up conversations. Nothing happened during the night, but I had a wonderful time, my Husband was very tolerant and if you have read any of the books and this house peaked your interest, I do hope you get the opportunity to visit. If anything… it’s a relaxing stay as there’s not much to do… except sit back, relax and soak up beauty!
We rented the Judge Clark Woodruff suite. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that you get that room, which is huge, plus the hallway and the first floor below all to yourself… once the tours are over of course. The staff was very kind. The tour guide was newer, but an enthusiastic presenter. It was a really unique experience. Would definitely stay again.
Absolutely loved our stay here! The staff was genuine, friendly, helpful, and courteous. They made our stay here so comfortable and enjoyable. I will definitely swing through here again for another experience. Just fyi, the breakfast is amazing! So delicious and with a touch of southern charm…
Been to The Myrtles many times and each time it get more and more touristy. They do go out of their way to ensure you have what is needed. The grounds keep changing as in pulling up tress to make room for more. The $15.00 tour is so big you get left in the back and you can't hear. On the tour 50% of it is made up and not factual. The location where you check in is all for of crappy tourist items and price gouge. They no longer serve breakfast. Beautiful location that has turned itself into a tourist trap.
The day tour was very interesting and informative. Our tour guide was awesome. She made telling the stories interesting by putting herself in character! My granddaughter thought "Chloe" took over her.
What a wonderful night stay. Sorry that we didn't have any type of paranormal activity, but the hospitality was top notch and the site is beautiful and relaxing. The morning breakfast was fantastic all made from scratch. I would defiantly go back when it's not so rainy to take in all the Inn has to offer.
A great place to visit and get a little spooked. I was really fascinated with how well the original furniture was kept up and how the house still had authentic pieces. Loved the spooky story and the cool history. Will bring different people to experience this with me next time. Share the spook!
Absolutely Beautiful! The home and grounds are stunning! The ladies in the gift shop were incredibly sweet! Our tour guide was informed, even if she were a bit impatient. Again the ladies in the gift shop were amazing and get two thumbs waaaay up! Also spoke briefly with a gentleman from the groundskeeper crew who was funny, informative and kind. Should switch him to tour guide!
We stayed in the John Leak Room. Very nice and comfortable. The people were very nice and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious. We did the 8 o'clock haunted tour which was fun and then walked around outside and sat on the back porch before settling in for the night. The night watchman stopped by and introduced himself and chatted. Great experience and fun! No ghosts visited us this trip. I did get orbs in some outside pictures.
Beautiful place but you don't get to tour the majority of the house because they also run a bed and breakfast out of the house. The grounds are beautiful and the tour guides are knowledgeable about the history of the house and owners.
You want to feel like family stay here. Great breakfast as well. If your lucky you might just see something supernatural.
Most fun in a long time. Fun group of people work their. The haunted tour was very informational and friendly. Rooms are very comfortable and dated to the era of the time of plantation time. Loved this place I would stay here again. Breakfast was very well done and staff was very happy to help with anything.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay! Was worth every penny! Met some great people! We will definitely come again! Also had a cool experience that night!

RespondWonderful experience, my family and I enjoyed our stay. Property is beautiful. Staff is excellent. I went there a skeptic and left a believer. A few of my pictures are a little creepy. But I didn't feel anything negative there. If spirits are there, I don't think they are bad ones. I slept like a baby. We would definitely go back. Highly recommended visiting! Anyone who gives a negative review on this place are probably hard to please. Just saying!
Nice, personable southern charm and hospitality when you walk in. Our tour guide was good at getting our attention and spooking us with its haunted tales. Cool gift shop and nice little garden.
I've wanted to stay at Myrtles for as long as I can remember and I loved it. We stayed in the Leake room and even though it was "uneventful" spirit wise the history, tour with Connie, the employees in the general store and the house itself were awesome.
Beautiful and majestic! Gets really spooky at night. I stayed in the General Bradford Suite for the night. We had the entire floor to ourselves. Super creepy, hair raising, goose bump type things happened between 2am-4am. This place is definitely haunted. But it felt like the spirits of the dead are friendly.
Plantation was great however the restaurant on premises burned down. They were able to recommend a local place to eat, then we returned to your the grounds. Tours offered were very informative and fun.
The tours at the Myrtles Plantations are always exciting and fun for the whole family. Me and my family visits at least once a month if not only to walk the grounds and take pictures or Ghost hunting. I give it two thumbs up.
I took my wife to the Myrtles for 2nd anniversary and enjoyed the entire experience. From the amazing food at the Carriage House Restaurant to the late night walks, exploring the grounds, it was a wonderful weekend experience. The tour (s) was also quite educational as you learn more about the history not listed or shared about online.
I went to the plantation during the day of thanksgiving since we were in the area. Although the establishment was closed for the holiday weekend, it was incredibly beautiful. We were able to walk around and observe everything.
Amazing place. House with a history of ghosts and the room of a 5 star hotel. I don't think there is a better place in the whole area.

Fun and cool place.
I do believe it was much nicer 30 years ago before they turned it into a Halloween attraction. But still, worth the money.
