Maumee Bay State Park Lodge Hotel

Do not go to this place and waste your money! We rented a cabin (11) for the weekend and paid almost $1000 for the worst customer service and dirty cabin! Balcony off bedroom filled with bird poop and cigarettes. I understand there are animals but it should have been cleaned before we checked in! My husband now has hives from being around it! We found giant thumbtacks in the cabin on the floor. My 5 year old son almost stepped on one. They accused me of placing them there! I have a list of other minor things as well that were horrible. When I tell them all of my complaints they literally just made excuses on why things were the way they were! Head of housekeeping and the manager just argued with me and tried to Trump everything I said with an excuse! when you pay for a cabin for over $300 a night it should be clean and perfect… NO EXCUSES! They offered no discount or apology or anything at all! So we got a refund for Saturday night and left because they accused me of just wanting a discount! Also said that we get a discount every time we stay (something is always messed up with the cabin when we stay) On a stay before this a light fixture fell on my son and shattered everywhere! Another stay roofing nails littered the balcony! Never again will I go to this place! We used to visit 4-5 times a year! Sad how downhill it has gone!

The customer service here is horrible. Our room was not ready and no one showed any remorse or offered any solutions. My family and I canceled our family vacation and drove back home. So disappointed.

Don't waste your time and money.
worst experience of life. Was so ready for vacation after pandemic. But this place is nothing like they showed on web.
main desk is worst. No TV working, screen door broken, sticky smell in room, was moved to diff room at midnight cuz of bugs. Left language in room. It 930am and still no reply from front desk if we an go back in room. Kids are hungry. No cloths to chg to go for breakfast.
so never ever in life try to make your Vacation days here.

I went to see the Piping plovers and to visit several of the nearby parks. Price was a little on the high side but lodge room was clean, quiet and comfortable as well as being convenient to all of the places I wanted to visit. I enjoyed sitting out back watching the clouds roll in over the lake, and the boardwalk and nature center were nice as well. Room had a nice view of the bay. Despite check in time being a little later than I’d like, I would definitely stay again.

It was all over good until I went to the bathrooms where the rinsed off station was and the drinking fountain it was disgusting and bubbling.

Always a great place to go on vacation.

I want to thank Cindy and Andrani for they are angels. We had a medical emergency that caused us to shorten our visit from a 2 night stay to less than 4 hours while we spent our weekend in the hospital. I explained the situation to them at 2am and they were more than compassionate with our situation. I can only assume the rest of the staff there is that wonderful. I look forward to coming back and getting to work with them to make our next experience a memorable one.

We had the worst experience when staying here last night. We reserved a room for New Year’s Eve so that we could take our 7 year old swimming. When we checked in they told us that because of covid the pool was by reservation only and all reservations were full for the night so we wouldn’t be able to swim. This was quite disappointing but we asked what about swimming the next morning. She told us that we would have to call at 8am the next morning and reserve a spot that it cannot be done the night before. We were disappointed but figured we would play in the arcade for a bit and then just sit at one of the couches by the fireplaces and wait for almost midnight and watch the ball drop. We went to the arcade and only two games were working, the others were all out of order. After we went for a walk around the hotel to check it out when an employee was standing at the end of the hall and was telling everyone that they needed to go back to their rooms because 10pm is shut down and no one could be out of their rooms! WHAT? I am locked into my room?
Lastly the next morning, we called the front desk at 7:55 to make our swim reservation for the morning (because we were told we cannot make a reservation until 8am) and a extremely rude woman answered the phone and when I told her we were looking to make our swim reservation for this morning she laughed and said we don’t have anything available except 1pm today.

Nice place, food was good too… Lack of Management is your own enemy. If your staff can’t perform simple tasks Do Not leave them un supervised. Sorry to say we do no plan to come back any time soon.

I was not impressed with our current stay here. For being in the midst of a pandemic, I expected the rooms and hotel to be much cleaner. Or even somewhat clean would have been nice. The common areas by the restaurant and the arcade area were quite dirty and the room wasn't much better. While unplugging our phone charger the outlet on the lamp popped out and started a small spark and fire. It completely burned the outlet. We notified the front desk (tried calling first but they never answered) as we were worried about the safety concern/fire hazard, but they didn't seem to care. So hopefully whoever stays in that room next is ok! The young man at the paddle boats was friendly but he was probably our only pleasant experience. I had high expectations but sadly, they wouldn't have even met low expectations.

We spent 4 nights here a few weeks ago. The current way they are sanitizing the pool is awful and dangerous to humans. They close the pool every 2 hours for a half hour to "clean it". What they do in that half hour is dump chlorine and other chemicals and then allow ppl right back in! There is no waiting period. You are supposed to wait at least 3 hours before entering the pool again. My daughter was covered in ahead to toe chemical rash, so was my friend's daughter. So painful and uncomfortable. Also, the pool is not clean. The bottom is covered in debris and dirt and the surface looks like it hasn't been skimmed in months. Too bad this resort dropped the ball on something that should not even be a concern to guests. The restaurants were good. The rooms were clean. We will likely not be returning unless something changes with their ridiculous pool neglect.

Such a great time! No complaints — room was comfy and clean, lake view was amazing. Front desk staff was courteous and nice. The restaurant was yummy even tho definitely a smaller menu. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful grounds, great place to stay just don’t eat the food. Order out! Terrible/non-existent service at lounge and restaurant. Boneless buffalo chicken wings were raw! Not just pink, purplish and bloody in the middle!

Nice family environment. We had a lot of Thanksgiving meals over the years and created beautiful memories there.

Our first stay was great! So many activities to keep busy with if you want or you can just sit back and relax. Every staff member was very helpful and cheerful. Everyone we meet who was staying there had been coming there for years. We will definitely return.

The only reason this establishment gets a 2 is because they own lakefront property courtesy of the State of Ohio. So it gets a 2 because of natural beauty, otherwise the score would be lower. The room was $180 per night. We were told this room was lake view when we reserved it. It had a view of a pond and if you turned your head you could see a sliver of lake. Looking straight out the patio door, you can’t see the lake. For $180 per night, you should not have mold and rust in the bathroom, mold and rust belong at the Red Roof. If there is mold in the bathroom it leaves you to wonder about the cleanliness of the room overall. The shower was lukewarm and never got hot… The room was dated and overall left me with the impression that the management here enjoys charging inflated prices and does nothing to maintain the property.

Very nice facility, the grounds where a little dirty with so MANY seagulls. The paths were very opened which didn't give me the feel of a park. The lake couldn't be used because of the algae. The lodge did have a pool that was very nice. The lodge diner was really understand staffed, found meals elsewhere. Somewhat disappointed. For me Saltfork meets my desires as a park much better.

We have stayed at Maumee Bay State Park Lodge every summer for the past five years. My parents get three rooms for my siblings and our families. We have the best time every year. All of the rooms are very clean. The provided toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion) are the best selection out of any hotels we have visited. The restaurant is pretty much our favorite part of the trip. The menu is always changing and the food exceeds expectations! The staff around the entire lodge is great. Everyone is friendly and willing to assist. Last and certainly not least, the pool hours are extended so swimming is a must! The indoor playground keeps younger kids (and adults at night) busy for hours! Must visit! Time slows at Maumee Bay!

Visited the restaurant. It was nice a cozy. A bit upscale with good choice of burgers.

The room was very nice, the lodge had plenty of amenities to keep us occupied, and the staff was unbelievably friendly. Every single employee we met said hello, offered advice for things to do and took time to chat with us. I could not recommend it more highly.

Nice place to stay quiet cables a lot to see and do in and out of the park not to far from Toledo and Orgeon Ohio and Ceder Point.

I stayed in a cabin which was a lot of fun! It's nice to be able to swim at the lodge and play games. The only criticism I have is that the cabins haven't been updated much throughout the years and the beds are a little hard. Other than that, I would recommend staying at Maumee Bay state park.

We go to Maumee Bay at least twice a year and it's always a blast! We got to take our son for the first time since he was born an he had so much fun! The pool, indoor playground and arcade are all very kid friendly and make it a perfect family trip. The great prices and atmosphere keep us coming back again and again!

We always love going to maumee bay. This time we rented a cabin for the weekend. Had a few problems but Sabrina fixed it right away and made sure we were happy. We will definitely go back again. ☺

Rooms were very clean and comfortable, the lounging areas around the hotel are cozy. We especially loved the children's indoor play place and the pool. We ate at the restaurant quite a few times, the food and service always phenomenal. Although we were told the hotel was booked full for our stay, the common areas were not crowded at all. A very nice place to relax!

Room was nice. Staff was very helpful and nice. Plenty of stuff to do. Our family enjoyed the pool and splash pad, indoor play area, sledding and the nature center. Overall a very good place for a family get away.

Very beautiful facility with gorgeous suites. They have excellent food, and gift shops with neat little trinkets. The hospitality is lovely and is overall a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay.

OH the Surprises. Good cover photo for this place. I planned a trip for a small group of individuals and ended up paying the extra money to book a 4 bedroom cabin so there would be more privacy for the individuals over just having loft sleeping areas in the 2 bedroom cabin. Imagine my surprise when the 4 bedroom cabin doesn't actually have 4 private bedrooms. The two upstairs "bedrooms" are simply loft rooms with doors but are open to the living room below. The manager responded to my TripAdvisor review by saying this was the first time in 26 years that anyone had an issue with that. When I complained about it to the front desk when I was there, I was told they hear it all the time and they wished the description would be changed to loft rooms. So, do they hear about it all the time and nobody tells the manager or.? I paid for a 4 bedroom cabin and didn't get one! Their best response is that no one else cares? When you sit up in bed and can see the people in the living room and they can see you, that is not a bedroom! Dissatisfied with the misrepresentation and even more dissatisfied with the response! It is a great park and has great potential, but not when the surprises are not of the pleasant kind.

We stayed on the Columbus day weekend and enjoyed this lodge and park very much. There were so much to do for us and our 7 year old and 2 year old. The restaurant on-site has a very good menu, big servings and for $7.95 for a maumee breakfast enough for two people — it was an amazing deal. The swimming pool was clean and splash pad was great for kids. The hot tub / spa although a bit old and very loud, there were two so you don't feel crowded or cramped when there's a lot of people using it. Our room was spacious, although the design was a bit out dated and kinda feels like you are in a motel, the beds were comfortable and the view of the lake was spectacular. I give it a five star mainly because the park has a lot to offer, the restaurant was superb and the staff were very warm and welcoming. Will definitely go back again.

We are from Florida and we were lucky enough to be traveling near this area (Toledo) and needing a place to stay for the night. We were also wanting to be close to the water, beautiful bays and lakes. Maumee Bay exceeded our greatest expectations! The price range ($87 to $150 or more) for what you get is a steal for sure! We are already planning on returning twice in next 12 months. Great lodge with fireplaces galore, plentiful activities for kids of all ages, great gym, pool, restaurant, grounds, gift shop, hiking trails, canoes, paddle boats, on and on! The nature and scenery alone should make this place a must stop. We are in love, can't wait to visit Ohio again!

This place cannot be beat! The grounds are gorgeous — lake, pools, nature boardwalk, beach, activity areas. The staff is top notch! Everyone greeted us, made eye contact and was so accommodating. And Omg! The food. So so good! Maumee is our getaway destination ~ Thank you for everything!

I grew up out here, still live close but hadnt been here in years. Was looking for something fun and cheap for me and my children. I would have to say it was well worth. The pool was awesome as I love that kids can bring pool toys unlike most hotels. The restaurant was decently priced with great portion sizes. (Had breakfast) the pool hours were awesome at opening at 7a to 12a. Great things for all ages. The game room was amazing most games your child is likley to win. Not very many games but hey, you spend less:) I did have a few issues with some eating my $ but the front desk was kind to return $. I plan to return in summer so we can enjoy the outdoors.
