The hotel was fine. I mean it's cheap and you get what you pay for. We were pretty disappointed that the pool was FREEZING cold. We couldn't even swim in it. Also, make sure you bring your own pillows. They offered a decent free breakfast. I would give it 2.5/5 stars.

Nice hotel, but the pool was SO cold, we couldn't even swim in it. We picked this hotel because it had a pool, and it was a huge bummer when it was too cold. I think it was the same temperature as Lake Superior.

Great location near Canal Park. Sadly tho, Tiny pillows.

Our room wasnt very clean. We made complaints about a group of people being obnoxious and drunk with booze and cases of beer in the pool area and the hot tub making rude comments management didn't do anything.

We stayed here this past weekend with our family. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, good breakfast and nice pool area. Sure, you could stay at a $250 a night room and have nicer accommodations, but for the price it was just great!

The front desk guy was so nice and helpful. Very cozy clean hotel. I love the location and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

The front desk people were friendly but when we told them the pipes in our room 227 clunked and rattled they said they would have their maintenance look at it but would not be there to fix it until Monday. (We checked out Monday morning 2/18). We were not looking for a discount but to be moved to a non clunking room would have been nice.

Love the room they are so nice. And the pool and hot tub are so nice.

I had a wonderful time while staying here. I attended a wedding of a friend of mine's and this is where the bridal party stayed. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly.

The employees are awesome! I went swimming in the pool took my ring off put it on the night stand the kids knocked it off the night stand in between the stand and the bed. The house keeping were honest and called they found my ring! I’m so thankful they were honest and called me. I live 2hrs away and they kept it for me until I was able to pick it up! Thank you guys, and I truly appreciate the honesty. Means a whole lot because it’s not a cheap ring. Thank you guys!

This is where my little family calls home while visiting Duluth. The pool is good and you can get a poolside room that opens up to the pool. It's the way to go.

The hotel was very nice, staff was very friendly and helpful when we got in to check in late at night! the morning staff all seemed kinda grumpy and didn’t really acknowledge us, it’s whatever. The breakfast was pretty good and the sauna/hot tub room was amazing! Our room was clean and nice, however the beds we had in our room were by far the MOST uncomfortable beds I’ve ever laid in in my life. Overall great stay for the price.

Seemed to be a basic no frills hotel. Pretty straight forward. I was visiting family who stayed there and they really seemed comfortable there and have stayed there a few times now.

The hot tub was small, not handicap accessible at all, hallways, no elevators, & breakfast area was cramped. Breakfast was good, staff was pleasant. Beds were so so & the price was too high.

Location is a bit outside of the city, but right by Spirit Mountain and an easy drive to the city. Room is clean, staff is very helpful, and the pool is good. The breakfast is self serve — typical waffles, cereal, breads and muffins, juice, etc, but good. The beds are surprisingly good, but the pillows could be better.

Outstanding service, walk out patio, pool, sauna, hot tub, fresh made and delivered pizza, clean room, 1 queen one king bed, very courteous staff all for under $90. I highly recommend.

I visited this past weekend. I learned upon arrival that the sauna wasn't available (they kindly offered a refund but I choose to stay). The Wi-Fi was extremely slow. The room I received was immediately adjacent to the breakfast area, and the microwave was on the other side of the wall across from the bed (terrible layout). Needless to say, I heard it at 6:15AM and couldn't go back to sleep. Thankfully, the bed was at least comfortable. The outside sign advertises "deluxe continental breakfast". If deluxe means white toast and bagels then I guess, yes, it's deluxe.

I stayed there two weeks. The place is clean and well maintained. It is a good value. Standard breakfast. My only complaint is it is an old wood structure and you can hear guests above you walking around. I could not hear noise from other rooms just the foot steps.

Not too cool of a place. Had a problem with the door on room locking. So we waited, got tired of waiting I went and had a smoke. Wife took a shower. The meathead maintenance guy came in to room and fixed door lock without hollering out that he was there. And then we never knew it was fixed. Went to ask again for the 3rd time to get fixed. And that's when they said it's already done. That pissed me off huge.

Perfect place to spend a night! Kids (if you bring any) can chill at the pool while the adults have a separate area for the hot tub and sauna. If you have something against small children running around, find a different hotel. Seriously. Hot coffee all night. Friendly people to talk too. A good experience!

Decent place for the $… I'd stay again. Room was kinda stuffy seems like it needs better ventilation. Pool was decent but overly chlorinated. The kids complained of burning eyes and skin after swimming, even after a shower to wash it all off.

Americas Best Value Inn is what you pay for. The cheapest place we could find. It's a place to lay your head. Rooms are equipped with with fridge and microwave. Pool and hot tub are nice. Rooms could use some updating but not horrible. Worth the price.

Went to get breakfast on my vacation at 9:30 they close breakfast at 9:00. Also we were not told when we arrived that breakfast was that early. Which I think is very early when your on vacation. There was a women there, and I asked her if I could get anything else, and she an apple or orange. They have a cappuccino machine, and cereal that sit out, and they couldn't even offer me a bowl of cereal? I Use to work at a hotel, when I was younger, and when this happened at my hotel I would try to give them a few options when they missed breakfast, and it was never just an apple or orange! If You work in the hospitality field your will not get anywhere by being rude to the people who stay at your hotel. Won't stay here again. — Room 204

The beds were very form and the pillows were to tall, the room we had smelled like pool. It's a room if that is what you are looking for, but it is not a great place to stay. It needs some updating to keep with the times.

Nice budget hotel. Room was spacious and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Stayed one night for a college visit. All was fine for the price.

Was ok a place to try and sleep nice view though! We have 2 young kids were woke up several times during night from others being noisy did not complain. Nice staff, lots $$$$ for what it is in my opinion.

Now that our stay is almost over I can give a full review after having to deal with the staff her messing up my reservation that was booked for a poolside room a week in advance and the putting us in a room that was a floor up from the pool and facing a hill the staff was baffled on what to do and how to make it right aside from we will call you if one opens up (which they didn't) after we got done with the things we wanted to do in town I had found out they gave the now open room to some one else in our party so amongst our selves we made it right. But now to the facility. The pool area is gross I can attest that no one has mopped or cleaned anything since I've arrived and the mud dirt and grime oh yeah and food. Is still on the floor that was here when we got here. The pool closes at 10 for children which is fine but then they close down for adults at 1030 so we only have 15 maybe 20 min of quiet until we are kicked out as well. You would think they would keep it open to adults until at least 11 or 1130. Since they don't open it again until 830 and just to let people know the sauna and hot tub are not in the same location as the pool which at first bothered me for the inconvenient idea of trying to have kids juggle between the hot tub and pool but it worked out aside from the closing time of all water and sauna areas. At 1030 they kill the power to the stove in the sauna and say that's it to the breakfast.

Honestly if you stay here you better book on line after calling directly and reserving a room a week in advance to arrive and find out that for some reason my reservation was switched three times and I am no longer in a pool side room next to the rest of our party and they stuck us in a room facing a hill side not a scenic view a dirt wall and after a half HR of trying to figure everything out I'm told the best they can do is a non pool side room almost close to the pool. I was able to get a pool view room which didn't help since I have two children with and family at the pool hence the reason I wanted a pool side room. If I could give zero stars after seeing the shape of the rooms and the amount of customer service received I would. Once again if u make a reservation make it online and double check what is booked.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I pay for a pool side room. With both a double and queen bed a week in advance … I get charged today for said room. Show up and I'm in a two full bed room… Non pool side. The rest of the people staying with us got pool side and got the correct rooms. So now we get to be separated from the rest of our party and the staff refuse to do anything about it. Do not stay here. Or if you do… Book online and verify what you book. Do not call them. Period.

Stayed there over the Dec 2nd 2017 weekend. Parking lot is goofy. Multi level and can't park without 4wd on the lowest levels. Most people were friendly but had a bad seed who was watching the food. First she cited us the rules that you have to wear shoes. Her words in a snickering voice, "You have to wear shoes here. The state says so. " Not a, "I am sorry but for your safety you have to wear shoes in this area. " Then my family and I were eyeballed the whole time we were there. Very uncomfortable. Again probably one bad seed in the bunch most others were very friendly. FYI — Hotel manager you may want to keep people not good with people, away from the people. It takes the right kind of person to deal with people in a personable, respectful and pleasant manner. We don't all have that capacity. The facility was cleaned relatively well. No major issues. If your critical the vents in the pool area are dirty, carpet floors were worn out but generally the rest was good. It is older and feels like it is. The pool and hot tub were okay but chlorine was very high make sure to rinse well. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Make your own waffles (cheap batter), bagels, some fruit and yogurt were on the menu. Not an official complaint but FYI GLUTEN FREE people not much for a gluten free diet but who really accommodates that at this point. Personally in the future I would spend a few more dollars and find something newer cleaner and nicer.

Elevated price for an average room. Linen were clean but beds were more firm so it was harder to get relaxed after a long drive. The room had an off odor and the carpet were a bit sticky. The whole room can use an update. We were unfortunate to have noisy neighbor and the TV didn't work. Breakfast options were hohum, consisting of: waffles, bagel, English muffin, cereal, banana, orange, and lastly mini muffin. We went elsewhere for a traditional American breakfast.

For the price is exactly what we were looking for. The beds are pretty firm so not the best for side sleepers. The staff has been really nice. Everything was clean. It was nice that there was a microwave and fridge in the room.

It was quite a bit cheaper than most of the hotels in Duluth, and is only about a five minute drive from downtown. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. Having a room facing south provided great views towards the city and lake. The breakfast wasn't bad, with waffle makers, yogurt, cereal, and juice.

Hotel was ok. Parking was odd. Pool and hot tub are in 2 different rooms. Beds were overly firm for us. Not all rooms have same set up. Some have table with chairs for eating, others have just an armchair. Breakfast, eh, take it or leave it. Keep eye out for hidden charges… Extra charge to use the hair dryer! And charges for using the safe that they leave in the room even if you don't use it.

Prob best check in experience, really friendly staff. Great price for the hotel, good value with amenities. Our room was right off the pool, so a little loud with people in pool and all, but we're pretty easy going. Rooms we fairly clean couple areas could have been cleaner. (Some like mold or calcium deposits on faucets that could have used a bleaching) other than that good stay.

Rooms decent but FAR from noise proof. You hear everything. Poor customer service at front desk at check in time. She was on the phone taking reservation after reservation while they waited in line, Only to find out the room was not ready. The receptionist told me she would call me back when the room was done. Never called back, I had to call them. One of the more inexpensive hotels in Duluth, remember you get what you pay for.

Great front desk staff! That's about the only thing that was. First off this place is worse than super 8 or motel 6, yet its double the price. Second, it's extremely outdated. Next up we have the mattresses that are at least 20 years old… I hardly slept. The pillows were so flat, I had to trifold them. Blankets… suck! Then let's round this out with an extremely low shower head (we're talking 5'3 is the base) and the tub creeks with every tiny movement. Also when I booked it stated is have a microwave & mini fridge… nothing. The coffee pot wasn't cleaned prior to me arriving. The signs to get in this place are obsolete. Forget trying to find the hidden driveways when it's dark. Also the parking is horrible. You're on a huge hill but if more than 20 cars are on the main flat lot… good luck parking. I won't ever go back nor do I recommend it. Pay more and go elsewhere.

The staff gets 5 stars, but the rooms get a 2 or maybe a 1. Found hairs in the beds, and some parts of the rooms just needed to be updated to justify the $180 price (which seems like a ridiculously low value to me).

Clean room, helpful kind employees, quiet.

It seemed a little outdated. Could use an indoor remodeling. You can hear all noises from the hallway, as we as vibrations of people walking down the hallway. No elevator if your traveling with kids and have multiple bags to bring in, you will have stairs to use.

It's your average hotel. The rooms where clean a little dated on how the hotel looks. They serve breakfast buts your basic breakfast. The best thing at breakfast is the waffle machine.

It's a gamble. Sometimes the rooms are clean, sometimes you find a mystery spot here or there on the carpet. But hey, the price is right and the view at sun rise is unrivaled.

I rate this hotel 4 stars for what it is. It's a fairly affordable, clean room, without the bells and whistles, but it's decent for what it is. WI-FI is slow, but it works. Beds are clean and room is tidy. Not a very quiet place, but it works. Easily $15-20 cheaper per night than comparable motels in the area. Will definitely stay here again.

Won't stay again. They charged my credit card for the room before I even authorized them to do so. We paid cash when we checked out. Found out after the fact they charged my credit card and now I have to wait 10 days to get the money back for a room I already paid for. Was not informed they were charging my card.

Good value for the price in the area. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room on the opposite side as the highway. Also, the lower level kind of smells like a musty basement but 2nd and 3rd floor are much better. Breakfast was good. Cereal, juice, bagels, toast, fruit, cappuccino machine which was cool, and make your own waffels. Very small area to eat though. The staff was really great and accommodating! A very short scenic drive from downtown Duluth.

Good enough but rickety. Floors are so uneven that I nearly tripped over it walking to the bathroom. The doors aren't sealed and are so uneven I could see in the room from outside my door. Even my bed sloped because of the floor. Not even a tiny bit soundproofed. No hot water for my morning shower. Not even luke warm. That was with only me showering. Wi-fi sucks. Light burned out but that can happen. Breakfast was decent. Staff was always friendly. Hot tub, pool and sauna areas great except people kept bringing their little kids in the hot tub.
