Amazing resort. Friendly staff! Love the options for restaurants, bars, entertainment, and the pool/spa area in the resort alone. Plus there’s shuttles to the casino and plenty to do close by.

I had bed bugs crawling on me last night! This place has gone downhill! The front desk initially did not offer to move me. I was about to leave and they decided to move me to a different room. However, they did not offer to move I bags or assist in any way. I put my things in my car, which will have to be treated because I do not want bugs in my house! The hotel staff is rude. Also, they have a new policy which is to not clean the rooms. Apparently that is the new industry standard. It’s just a cheap way to not pay staff. I waited in line 40 minutes to get a cup of coffee because one person is working in the coffee shop. I asked for a croissant and got a pastry. The rates are way higher, but the quality is way lower! Did I mention the barking dog across the hall and the cigar smoker next store. All BS!

Food is always amazing! The staff @ Aerie are beyond friendly & knowledgeable! The views amazing!

My husband and I booked a stay and play package. The golf was nice but beyond that, the experience was very disappointing. Due to Covid, restaurant hours were very limited and the front desk staff were not able to make good recommendations for restaurants off the property. The website was misleading on what was available and on the room descriptions. We asked to speak to a manager about our disappointment with the experience after the first night. The manager never reached out. Very overpriced rooms and very poor service. The golf was the only positive of the resort but there are many other good hotel options that cost significantly less.

Outdated rooms, no mini-refrigerators, overgrown grounds, unimpressive golf courses, poor housekeeping.

This specific resort and spa is uniquely clean which is kept up with the kindest employees in the world. They have several amenities to take advantage of including food, inside/outside recreation and tons relaxation. They covered many important aspects that contributed to a comfortable stay and I thank them for that.

Great place to spend time with wife or grandkids or family all together. Restaurant need to stay open longer when they hold events. We had to order Taco Bell at 10:15 pm after we got down with our event from Huber eats. But besides that a great place to stay.

The resort is nice. But check in took about 25-35 mins. Too long in my opinion. We stood in line for a while before we had to get to the front desk and there was only two sets of people already being helped when arrived. The service at the Stillwater restaurant was fantastic! So nice and friendly and accommodating. Jacks Taproom has good food and drinks, but the service just is not there. People are running around looking frantic like they don’t know what to do and everyone is sitting or standing around waiting for drink orders to be taken and to get drinks. I understand that is possible when busy but when there is less then 20 people in the room it shouldn’t be that complicated. So I would recommend ordering two drinks at once. The rooms could use a remodel and deep cleaning. Our shower had soap scum and hard water build up. The tiles and grout were cracked and the one wall to the shower if you leaned on it, it would move. The bedding was fantastic and so soft. I would say overall 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ the staff was great attitude wise, very friendly.

Grand Traverse Resort and Spa used to be such an esteemed place to stay. Really the highest quality you could get Up North. Unfortunately, the taxes of covid have taken their toll. Long waits, poor attitudes by unfriendly management staff, and worst of all pool closures during weekdays. Really no point bringing kids on a winter vacation during the week. Stay at Great Wolf Lodge or elsewhere.

Worst Restaurant quality I've ever tasted. $19 breakfast buffet was a joke, I've had better food for free at the holiday Inn, atleast there's was warm. Ordered 2 greasy omelets and paid $45. Spa was nice.

Always love our stay here! Would always recommend the Tower View Rooms, they have an amazing view year around!

Absolutely stellar service from the restaurant (Aires) on the 16th floor. Received incredible service (Kevin was our server) and food cooked to perfection. Try the steak and follow up with the creme brûlée!

Terrible customer service, i’ve been charged so many times for the same two nights I stayed and I yet again received a charge today and it’s been three weeks.

We called 4/5 and had to book two separate reservations as they were already sold out for our planned dates. Be sure you understand there is a $25 cancellation fee per reservation if your plans change this summer. 😢 After all what’s $50 when your spending thousands on hotels and horse shows said every equestrian ever. Here’s the hotel managements response via email when I questioned the fee:

Staff was the bomb. Always friendly down to the housekeeping. Highly recommend.

I loved and appreciated everything this resort had to offer. Everyone working there left a genuine helpful and kind impression. I loved the room, stylish and comfortable and the views spectacular. The kids loved the large pools and game room. Even without my clubs, I was able to enjoy the driving range with borrowed clubs from the clubhouse. We stayed 2 nights for my sons soccer tournament, but I hope to return to enjoy the golf course in the future.

The food is top notch. The drinks between the cocktails to the wine list all the way to desert. Amazing service. Really loved the friendliness and suggestions of Alex the manger. He gave us suggestions. I am not really a cocktail but the pink bubbles amazing.
Enjoyed a wonderful hot stone massage and a facial. Views from the room we stayed on the 14th floor in the towers. It was breathtaking.
Traverse is one of Michigan best city. Rather winter or summer is got a magical quality to it. Fine dining, shopping, and the winery have always been my favorite.
I would say after going to Traverse City all my life. By far I would argue Grand Traverse Resort and spa is the most luxurious place to stay.

Great accommodations tastefully furnished. Close to fine and casual dining and take out. Spa and exercise facilities.

Booked for a girls weekend in the Tower. Was an awesome experience. It was super quiet, the view was awesome and the amenities were perfect! Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone in the spa was professional and nice! Will be back!

The front desk professional was kind and helpful and my masseuse (Chelsea) extremely talented. Very glad to learn she also works in Lansing part time…

A comfortable, homely resort with plenty of activities on site, and close by for adults and children. Rooms are functional, and views from the higher floors magnificent. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The Hotel was very nice! Bed was wonderful! They did not have a microwave or fridge in the room which kinda shocked me I don’t know the last time I went to a hotel without one. Rooms were clean and stocked. The one thing I was very upset with was several girls In a room down the hall that were so loud screaming and laughing all night and running up and down the hall. I had to call the front desk several times until like 1230am and I wasn’t the only one they had several calls.
The Soa was the best part! Best massage I have ever had. I have horrible hip pain and see a chiropractor for it,, I told the girl my issues and she worked magic. She helped my hips more than months of seeing a chiropractor. I wish I lived closer to her cause I would see her once a week if I could!

Great and clean rooms, fast check in, super happy with my experience. We ordered room service and waited an hour in a half, decided to call and they forgot to make it. Wasn’t too happy about that as we were under a time limit, but we will still be back!

Just not impressed overall. I was not here for golf so it wasn’t that awesome and I have stayed at nicer places for lowers rates.

We had an infestation of fruit flies. They didn’t offer anything but a cup of vinegar to catch some of them. I killed 18 fruit flies on the bathroom mirror in about 5 minutes. They said they didn’t have any other rooms available. Guess we won’t be drinking any wine on this trip.

Un helpful staff. Old rooms. Flying bugs everywhere inside hotel. Wouldn’t go back.

I had booked a suite for a bachelorette party, the suite itself was beautiful and experience was pleasant. BUT the housekeeping staff was very rude. She came by around 2:00 and we asked her to come back in an hour or so. She comes back 20 minutes later with an attitude when asked to come back later again and told me to call the desk for service. I did just that, when we left for the afternoon. We came back to the room around midnight and our room had not been cleaned. I assumed they could at least make our beds, replace towels and take out the trash for the price I paid for the suite…

I always have a great time at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. The staff is exceptional. I have to mention Daniel who checked us in at the front desk. He was very attentive, and went over and above to make sure our stay was the best.

Really enjoyed my stay. The staff is great and very helpful. The restaurants are good and very convenient. There are fun stores at the hotel — clothes, candy, ice cream, coffee. Everything you need. Comfortable rooms. Some have great views. The only complaint I have is that the pool and outdoor jacuzzis close at 10 on most nights. I believe that they should stay open until 11 or 12. I definitely would have used them more.

We haven't stayed in the towers yet but the rooms are older but comfortable. I was a little disappointed we don't have at least a mini fridge but overall, the beds are comfortable and the showers have good water pressure. The Spa is a completely different story… it's by far the REASON we come (or at least for me) … the staff is super friendly and in all the massages I've had over several years, every time we have one at Grand Traverse, it is by far one of the most relaxing. The facilities are great and extremely family friendly.

I've stayed here on two different occasions. The first time we were able to stay in the tower side of the resort. Those rooms offered refrigerator, modern furniture and other high end amenities, plus gorgeous views. The second time the resort was more full and we checked in later and stayed in the original hotel rooms attached to the resort. These rooms were musty, the air took a while to come on and the room never got cool, plus there was no fridge, the rooms were outdated and dark. The other resort amenities are fabulous — private beach access, indoor and outdoor pools, yummy food and drinks and convenient location to downtown shopping and other beach accesses. A 15-20 drive from the wineries and casino. Stay in the tower side and you'll be awed.

I think the hotel is nice. They go bit far to force people to eat at their restaurant (charge $15 a night to have a microwave in your room). Great place for a convention/conference but bring a sweater (especially in the summer! ). The air conditioner is definitely on and the meeting rooms are pretty cold. The food is great (if sometimes over priced). The staff is great. They were very helpful and kind.

Overall this place is great from my experience. I've been here a few times for an annual golf outing with 40+ golfers and we are always accommodated to very well. The courses on the resort are great. The wolverine was probably my favorite and an enjoyable course for an average golfer. Service at the clubhouse and dining areas are always great. Bloody Mary's at the wolverine clubhouse are a great start to the day and the fish tacos we're very filling! Rooms are always clean and we'll managed. Our outing changes location every year but if we decide to come back I'll be looking forward to it. Cheers!

The staff at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa are top notch. Extremely friendly and purposefully seeking ways to make my stay even better. The views from the upper floors were absolutely spectacular. Great place to take in a deep breath and just appreciate the gift of life.

This was a very nice stay. The food AHHMAZINGGGG! The part that made me sad was the high prices of everything, but there was something for everyone. They even had a little concert in the lobby area! That was neat! You can take a shuttle to the Turtle Creek Casino and back to the hotel! My favorite part was the toy and candy store! It's very child oriented! Like I said the only part that was hard was the prices on a lot of things… Thankfully I had a couple grand saved up just for it!

Beautiful hotel! Just attended a conference here for work. It was beyond hard to stay focus and attend classes. I just wanted to enjoy the establishment. Two beautiful indoor pools and the outdoor pool by the lake = awesome! We will be back as a family!

Came in for a day of pampering, not sure what to expect. Charles started me out with the body scrub, then moved to massage. He did an incredible job at finding the spots that I have issues with (sciatica) and worked them out. The entire day, even down to the hair with Megan, was exactly what I needed. Thanks, team. You made my day!

Used to bring the kids here for spring break years ago. It was a nice place to keep us all under one roof with food and entertainment. It has changed hands a few times I think. The beds are uncomfortable, never know when the restaurants will be open. But the views are worth the trade off! Have to come once every two years for my husband's business and it's only ok.

I did not stay there. I attended a conference. However the staff were very attentive, friendly, and efficient. The onsite restaurants that I ate at had very good food and the servers were also excellent.

Excellent golf for the price. Wolverine course was my favorite even though Bear is the bigger name. Staff was very friendly and helpful. A+ all around.

Facility is gorgeous with several unique shops. Food at my seminar wasn't to my liking and the seminar room was too cold, but otherwise very comfortable. I would prefer the conference rooms to have clocks.

The blower on the heater in our hotel room was blowing full blast the whole time and would not turn off. If you manually turn it off it goes right back on. I even tried to call maintenance who could not turn it off either. I didn't get any sleep at all because it was so loud and obnoxious! I tried to take a shower twice both times it was ice cold and the water pressure goes in and out. I would never stayat this hotel ever again. We also had the breakfast buffet at Sweet Water. It was disgusting.

The resort was truly beautiful and well taken care of. I was there for a professional conference and the staff was exceptional as were the meeting rooms that we used. I would absolutely recommend the Grand Traverse Resort to any group that needs meeting locations!

I’ve stayed in the condos at GTR for the past 5years however this year we decided to take advantage of the Spring Break special in the hotel. Overall we had a good time however we felt the hotel wasn’t staffed like it should have been. The Sweetwater American Bitro was our first mishap on our trip. We decided to have breakfast (10 of us) and it took forever and the food was cold and gross! Waitress could of cared less… the hot tub area by the pool was so full of chemicals that your eyes would burn and a little girl vomited from it at some point while we were there. We had someone smoking in a room near us that filled the hallways. We told the cleaning staff that night and no one did anything so our friends called again the next morning and after the third request someone finally came up. They sprayed the halls but that was it. Our friends level below us had a fraternity reunion who partied all day and night. I’d recommend staying here again but I highly doubt we will stay in the hotel. Very trashy and the staff couldn’t assist when asked or if help was needed. They didn’t want to upset or burden the people making it worse for everyone else staying at the hotel. Pretty sad and disappointed about our mini spring break trip.

My stay was very nice, the rooms are beautiful and the spa is wonderful. The parking lot was poorly treated and very icy, however. I slipped and fell last night on a large patch of ice and my husband fell on it as well as he was trying to catch me. When we told the hotel staff they acted like it was no big deal and kind of brushed it aside. I was having a great trip until this happened : (

Husband and I went for the Easter Buffet on the top floor. Food was very good, very interesting delicious desserts. Staff was friendly and attentive. The view was gorgeous and the atmosphere was cozy.

The Grand Traverse Resort and Spa was great. The staff was friendly, the hotel was beautiful. We upgraded to the Tower rooms and were not disappointed. We had a corner room with a partial view of the lake and it was great. I would have given it 5 stars… but my only issues were that the walls were very thin! We could hear basic conversations from our neighbors on each side very well. Also we went in the spring time which was nice, less busy, less expensive and a little cooler outside, however the furnace in the room was noticeably loud! The breakfast buffet was just ok, but there is plenty of great places to eat downtown (which was like a 10 minute drive away). Overall I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend it to others as well. It's a great resort for families or for couples if you want to get away.

I have stayed at this resort in the past and had a pleasant experience. This was the first time I have been to the spa my friend and I took advantage of the spa special that was going on and had massages, facials, mani and pedicures. Everything was great until we got to the manicures and pedicures. The staff or I should say the one particular staff member was very rude to me didn’t talk to me hardly at all and when she did she rolled her eyes was digging her cutical tool into my toe it was painful. I have had many pedicures and I would have to say this was by far the worst pedicure I’ve received customer service wise and workmanship wise she didn’t even exfoliate my skin in anyway so my heels of feet were not at all soft feeling. Also, before we decided to go on this little “relaxing trip “ they told us that it normally costs like $350 and they are having a special of $150. Obviously that is a great deal and that’s why we decided to go and take advantage of it. Well, after we were all ready to get the hell out spa day was ruined by rude pedicure lady they tell us our total is like $360! We are all what we were told this price and the girl at the desk says oh ya my manager told me to go ahead and charge this price unless you told us different. Totally not joking! Couldn’t believe it. I am not one to leave reviews but I was so upset at how this turned out I had to!

Very clean hotel the check in process has been very smooth. I stayed at the golf view condos and moved the next night into the hotel and the transition was great. Kept the same key card and they offered to move my things if I wanted.

We stayed at The Shores which is GT's off-site condo property. It was absolutely beautiful! They have a shuttle service to go back and forth between the properties and the casino offers a shuttle between the casino and resort. All the staff were absolutely wonderful. It's just minutes from downtown so we were able to enjoy plenty of shopping both there and at the resort! We will certainly be returning.

We have stayed here before on many occasions for hockey tournaments. Overall, it's a pretty decent place. They are a little pricey, but we were there in January, so kind of the off season. We only paid $89 per night, not sure how much they charge other times of the year? However, the breakfast buffet is $23 on Sunday. The drinks at the bar were also a little high. So again, the room was not that expensive but everything else is a little high. There are three bars, but they close at random times. The sports bar is kind of cool. They also have shuttles to the casino so even if their bars are closed, the casino is open. If your not going there with a group, I do not recommend staying there, just a lot of different cheaper options.

Nice accommodations, but a bit pricey. I paid almost $70 for breakfast for 3 people for the buffet. I would be ok with paying that price if the selection includes more than basic eggs, meat and potatoes along with fruit, oatmeal and a couple pastry options. It was a bad selection, just not worth $70. Service was good in all areas of the hotel. They have a wonderful indoor pool area that includes a large area for children. Also has 4 indoor tennis courts. I will probably go back, but will eat off campus.

Great hotel with pretty good amenities. I loved that there was a little coffee shop downstairs to get local coffee and pastries from. Hot tub and pools are open all year round. The outdoor hot tubs are especially awesome in the winter. However, they were pretty crowded. They say after 10 pool and hot tubs are for adults only but no one monitors that. There was a whole team of 16yr olds there. Great gym for a resort. They have 3 different options — weight room, regular gym, and group class. Spa is nice but is VERY pricey. (Double a normal massage & They charge different rates depending on the day of the week. ) Also, when booked our massages we were told one price and then charged another. They do give you nice robe, lockers, waiting area with tea, coffee, granola, and a fireplace. 2 out of 4 in our party weren't happy with our massage and even after telling a manager, only got about a 10% discount…

Great experience for our event. We "took over" the facility for our conference and the staff were great throughout. They were always helpful and made sure proper accommodations were made for the diverse needs that were present. Would highly recommend for a conference type of event or a getaway for a family.

My wife and I went there for my works annual Christmas party. This is our third time there. The rooms are always clean as well as the rest of the hotel. The workers are always very nice and professional. I don't have a complaint about the place. I look forward to going back.

We loved the resort. The views from the tower are spectacular. The shops provide a nice place to shop when it's too cold outside. The restaurant selection is good. We already made a reservation for our next stay.

We had the best time at this resort! It was a little pricey, but we had some of the best service I've ever experienced. Polite staff that went out of their way to assist us — we were incredibly impressed!

Nice place to stay. I helped bring a national conference here and they had multiple rooms to host many types of events during the week. The staff was helpful and the food they prepared for us each day was top notch.

Attended a conference here. Prices were reasonable for the group. Room was beautiful and spacious. Friendly service. The TV in my room was broken, they replaced it right away. Buffet breakfast and lunch for the group was very good. Good selections available. The sit down dinner was not good. Over 400 people. Chicken and vegetables were cold. Dessert bar was more like a breakfast granola bar than dessert. Servers were friendly and helpful. Cocktail party before dinner and party after dinner had a great selection of snacks and desserts. Bartenders were fast and friendly! I would highly recommend large groups utilize this place. I would come back on my own with my husband for a weekend get away.

The rooms in the Tower look like they have been recently remodeled and are quite clean and spacious. It's a nice property to walk around, the shops are fun, and the spa is fantastic. If you're going to eat at the resort, I'd recommend Aerie. The other restaurants aren't bad, but don't stand out either.

We just spent 3 nights at the resort. We were on the 6th floor in the tower! The room was beautiful with a view as it was a corner room. It had everything we needed. The bathroom was beautiful, very large and I loved the lighted mirror! We had no trouble with registration, service was awesome. I would definitely stay again!

Beautiful clean, fresh room with lake view. King bed of generous size and comfort. Nicely decorated. Loved the shower. Very comfortable sofa. Just firm enough. All staff ready to serve any request of them that they could fulfill. The convenience of the iron and board were greatly appreciated for necessary touch ups. Beautiful carpeting through the areas well kept. Restrooms fresh, clean and stocked with supplies. Nice shops in the shoping areas. Convenient parking.

Not impressed! Toilet was dirty and the tub had hair in it when I first arrived. Dusty room, seems like it haven't been dusted in weeks. The shades have stains on them and they're very dingy. This hotel needs a new cleaning staff ASAP! The breakfast menu card that is placed on the bed to order from was already written on, so I threw it away. The next day, the SAME menu was on the bed again. Why couldn't they just give me a new one? Why did they get it out of the trash and put it BACK on the bed? Disgusting! I'll never stay again!

Staff is fabulous. Breakfast buffet was cold everything cold no heaters under trays. When replaced it was still cold. Not a fan of powdered eggs either. The accommodations in the hotel could use a refresh. Very dark when you step off the elevator. Of course the golf course was immaculate. The Bear. There is shopping on site and many different restaurants and bars. Did not get a chance to go to the spa. Next time.

Husband got me a spa package for my birthday. Got a back massage and my nails done. Staff was friendly, facilities are nice and super clean, overall had a great time. Massage was great, but I thought the nail package was over priced. The woman who did my nails was fabulous, and friendly, and did an amazing job. The package was pretty expensive though, and what I got was pretty standard in New York. Quick hand massage and rub down, and nails. In New York I would get the same thing for half the price. So other then the price being a bit much, I thought it was wonderful.

It's an absolutely stunning property full of amenities and things to do. With copious options/types of rooms to stay in, there's something for everyone. Very simple rooms in the hotel, high end rooms in the tower, or various types and locations of condos for longer stays with more room. An excellent pool/spa/exercise area, in addition to multiple tennis courts, provide you with a wealth of options to stay fit and healthy. Lots of dining, shopping, and 3 golf courses help to complete this resort and earn its name. Not far from downtown Traverse City makes this a great place for a weekend getaway, wedding, or long vacation. Only "downsides" to the entire property are these: the hotel side is extremely basic, meaning that the rooms don't even come with traditional things like a mini fridge or microwave. There is the option to "rent one" for a fee, but I've come to know this as standard and was frustrated upon discovery of no fridge in the room. This side is also just plain basic in general, and mildly dated in my opinion. The few restaurants I have tried are all right, but have relatively small menus and are somewhat expensive when compared to the overall quality. All-in-all, Grand Traverse Resort is a great place to stay, but could certainly use some updating to make it a truly amazing place.

We booked a golf and spa package at the resort. We were very pleased with the experience. The cost was very reasonable considering all of the perks that came with the package — 4 people, 2 nights, 4 rounds of golf, 4 spa treatments, and 8 breakfast vouchers for just under $400 per person. The golf was excellent. We played the Bear and the Wolverine. Both courses were well kept. We enjoyed the Wolverine a little bit more because the course was not as difficult as the Bear. The ladies used the spa vouchers and enjoyed the experience. The two bedroom condo was perfect for two couples and clean. I would recommend this deal for anyone looking to stay near Traverse City, play some golf, and enjoy some relaxation.

Great place to stay in Traverse City! It is about 15 minutes from the downtown area but totally worth it. Beautiful views and great rooms. I would opt to stay in The Tower. That is much newer and nicer than the old rooms. Great service and very friendly staff.

My family and I have visited Traverse City and stayed at the Grand Traverse every year for the past 7 years. It's perfect whether you stay in the hotel or a condo. Close to town, wineries, and breweries. 10/10

GTR is an amazing resort. There is so much to between golfing, gambling, beaching and relaxing. Rooms are quaint yet inclusive of all things necessary to have a relaxing vacation. Specifically, ask for the condos are Hilltop as this is the best area of he resort!

The staff was friendly, quick, and polite. The room was amazing, and clean. The amenities were wonderful. Stillwater restaurant was the only thing that did not live up to the level of excellence that the rest of the resort provided.

Our room was very nice… comfortable and well-decorated. However, I found 2 faults with the very attractive bathroom. There were no grab bars in the very large walk-in shower, and I think that could be considered a safety hazard. Also, although we were encouraged to reuse our towels, there was virtually no place to hang them. There was only one hook in the whole room… no place by the sink for a hand towel or a washcloth and no place to hang more than one towel. I also found the air conditioning in the entire hotel to be set at an extremely cold temperature… coming out of our room into the hallway felt like walking into a freezer.

The overall experience of the grand traverse resort was pleasant. I've only stayed one night so far in one of their condos, but the main building is great. Very clean, two restaurants inside, friendly service. There are several shops within the building like a candy bar and a few clothing shops. The restaurants prepared good food and everything looked professional and great until I got into our condo. The condo is a few minutes away in walking distance from the main building which has the shared facilities such as a pool and the business offices which are fairly pleasant. The condo itself is by no means bad, but it did have some issues in terms of upkeep. When we arrived, the walls had some marks on it, the beds hit the wall and banged when you would roll over on your sleep waking up my sister, and there were a number of small problems that all added up to make myself slightly uncomfortable. It didn't feel like a four or five star experience. The biggest problem was the water or the shower, I'm not quite sure. While taking a shower, one of my more relaxing activities, I was angered by the fact that at random times, the temperature weird get very hot or very cold. So when I'm trying to take a steamy shower, every minute or two, the water would get almost scolding hot, or rather chilly. Unfortunately for me, when it got chilly, I turned the water hotter, so it really hurt when the water went back to "normal" for that setting.

I was here for a two day work conference. Beautiful resort. Wonderful food. Very nice staff.

My stay has been very pleasant and relaxing. I'm here for a conference, and staying on a middle floor of the tower near the elevators. I've been here for two nights already and have a good idea of the amenities. The room is very clean and even being next to the elevators, I can only occasionally hear a beep when someone calls the closest one on my floor. The shower is large enough for a couple to share, and ridiculously large for one guy on business. The view from my room doesn't include the bay, but is still very pleasant. I've taken advantage of the shuttle service multiple times for the airport and their private beach area and have had great experiences each time. The usual hotel Wi-Fi problems also plaque this resort, but at this point, I don't count on that at any hotel. My stay isn't over, so I may have more to add later on.

I went to the Cherry Capital Comic Con, down in the… what is that. The governor's room. Downstairs. It was awesome. I liked the variety they had with the booths. They even had a steam punk booth. And the artists that were there… amazing.

We just returned from a 3 night stay as we attended the Michigan Masonic annual communication. Last year's visit wasn't great but returned with an open mind. I did request a ground level room, but was told at check in one was not available, and ended up on the 4th floor. We were in the hotel side not the tower. Our room in comparison to our previous stay was very clean and comfortable — though a mini fridge would be a very nice thing to have in the rooms. Day 1 we noticed our tub wasn't draining and thought it may just have stopper in. Day 2 we realize it wasn't and standing in 3 inches of water was not ok. We made a quick visit to the desk on our way out that am, the attendants both seemed unsure on how to respond and came back with a young lady Kari. She understood our concern and apologized, offered to move our room, I asked it just be fixed. She ordered it fixed and took care of our 3rd night. Her attention and concern of the customer and desire to resolve it as well as understanding the inconvenience was greatly appreciated. While we did not have a tower room, it was clean, comfortable and relaxing. All of the staff passing in the hall were very friendly, and greeted you with a smile. The difference of this visit and our last was huge, and removed that negative feelings I had previously. Again, thank you Kari for putting your guest first!

The rooms on the hotel side were okay — — could use some updates. From the way it is marketed, I expected something a little high end. It may have been the weekend we were there, as they were hosting hundreds of soccer tournament families, but… For better or worse, was a little too family-friendy for a getaway spa weekend. I do have to say the spa itself was lovely.

The room was modern and had a spacious living room and large bathroom with a walk in shower. It also had a fold out bed under the television that was awesome for my daughter. I was very pleased with the room. Our experience in the gift shops, was not as pleasant, due to the young clerk, who had major attutude. The buffet in the am was awesome and the staff were extremely nice. Bonjour! The pool was nice, although the outdoor ones were still closed, and they had so much chlorine, it made my throat burn. And overall good experience.

There for professional training. Setting is wonderful but I would have liked to see an official booking trail all the way from traverse to the resort. I ended up having 2 sections, each about 1/2 mile that were not paved and safe. The Governor's room was really wonderful and accommodated us very well. The food was not good though, with a bagged salad consisting of nothing interesting or nutritious and accompanied by ranch or canola oil "Italian". The rest of the meal was small, useless and tasted like it was from a Sysco bucket. The rest of the accommodations are really nice and I would definitely head back again or even choose it over some other venues but maybe with the expectation that we'd have to spring for better food.

Beautiful place. We went to a bridal expo and it was phenomenal. Such an awesome place. We went shopping while we were in there and the Melissa and Doug shop was just so quaint.

No lockers or changing rooms at the pool. Room was not clean — dressers were tacky and dirty and mirrors were smudged/smeared — no attempt to clean. Asked for change of $20 from bellman — received $10. My intention was $5 to pull cart of party supplies to room. Neither bellman was personable — going in to hotel for party set up and for removal of party supplies. Less than stellar.

Newly decorated rooms in the tower. Clean. I would not call this a luxury hotel though as some msintainance issues (i. E. Cracked ceiling tiles, the existence of ceiling tiles in the first place, and a bad paint job) distracted from total relaxation. On a more positive note, very friendly staff, and a beautiful area.

We stayed in room 963. The very first thing you notice is how beat up the door is. The carpet is starting to fray next to the tile. By the mini fridge. There was quite a bit of hallway noise. We had to ask for a fan to try and drown out the noise. The bathroom was nice, beds were nice. Room was clean. The building is just starting to show it's age. Should've been a little nicer for what we had to pay for the room.

Entire experience was top notch. Fantastic rooms and Aerie has the best food and service. Highly recommended staying here. Overwhelming sense of luxury.

The resort is beautiful and the staff is amazing. My fiancé got the customized facial down in the spa. She said it was the most relaxing thing she has ever done. The whole experience was awesome!

My husband took me to the Grand Travers Resort and Spa for a Valentine's getaway and it was wonderful. The resort is located in a quiet and secluded area with lots of nature surrounding it. Our room was very nice and had a beautiful view and a super comfortable bed. We ate at the Aerie Restaurant inside the hotel and the food and drinks were amazing! The pool and hot tubs were very relaxing. I would definitely recommend this place for a romantic getaway.

Stayed here for speical olympics, it was terrfic. Would recommend to a friend.

Our room was decent for the most part but a number of small things were upsetting. There was not a refrigerator in the room to store any drinks or food we had purchased. The bathroom sink was clogged and the toilet seat would not stay up. And the tiny coffee maker in the room still had used coffee grounds in it from a previous guest. The elevators were both confusing and really slow and the food and drinks were overpriced. Overall it was not a relaxing place to be at all.

The stay was nice. A gentlemen at the pool was very rude to us and our kids as well as the front desk young lady that didn't want to listen to me about what room we were booked for. Love the new renovations.

We booked our room for the "shores condos" same day on our way to traverse to celebrate our first anniversary. We were instructed to make reservations at the spa prior to arrival, so we did. Once we arrived and recieved our room keys which were portrayed to us as "a lake view suite with a jacuzzi tub" we arrived at a room which seemed like a trashy hotel room far off the distance from the lake that we wouldnt have been able to viee if we tried. The room was filthy, the tub even had hair in it. We were not impressed at all and very disappointed. We arent usually the type to complain so after about 10 mins of discussing withone another my husband and I decided we did not want to stay and triedto cancel our reservations. The front desk was not accomodating at all and said "rooms are non refundable 8f not canceled prior to 24 hours" we tried to explain that the reservation was only made 4 hours prior to our arrival. They didnt care. The spa also would not allow us to cancel our reservations. We decided to leave any way and found an amazing room at americinn for less than half the price WITH our jacuzzi tub and a fireplace. We have now figured out that even though we never stayed at grand traverse nor did we ever attend the spa that they still charged our card full price for the room and massages. We will never recommend this place to anyone! Deff dont make any kind of reservations for special events such as a wedding anniversary. This place is a dump!

I had a horrible experience staying at this hotel in Michigan. However, had a wonderful experience at the same hotel in Grand Geneva, Wisconsin. The power went out during my stay, and when I called down to see what was going the receptionist did not offer to put me in another room or even apologize for this happening. I mentioned I was in a rush to get ready for meetings and she said they could not do anything (even though the other tower had power and she could have moved my room for me). Due to the power being out, I had to take a dark, freezing shower. My hair dryer was broken during the entire stay. It would smoke and smell like fire any time I tried to use it. Overall, I thought customer service was poor, especially compared to the other Grand Resorts in North America. I would not recommend someone to stay at this location.

I'm posting this review strictly for The Shores condos which are technically a part of the resort. First of all, even though it's a short distance from the beach club, don't be confused… it really isn't a beach, because there's no area of water to swim in. I'm used to going to Grand Haven, South haven & various beaches on Lake Superior & this is not even remotely like that. Second, the room itself smelled horribly musty & damp and was just dark & dreary. Not exactly how I want my room to be when I'm coming to relax. The bed was probably the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on (which is saying a lot considering I've gone camping in tents for the majority of my life). And every time you move or get out of bed, it makes a loud creaking sound. Totally don't recommend this place at all unfortunately, especially for the price we paid. +Update+ I am changing my review because after I spoke with the front desk about switching rooms they let us move to a tower room on the 10th floor. I think it may have been a suite, because it was quite spacious & had a balcony. The whole room seemed very clean, and everything was updated. The bathroom was GORGEOUS! The room had huge windows with amazing views. Didn't really want to leave!

My husband and I were on our way to Florida when the flight got cancelled and we made an impromptu golf trip up to Grand Traverse Resort. We had the best time! Everyone was extremely nice and accommodating. Our first great experience was with Ben at the club house. He was the most caring and outgoing employee and when we came back the next day, he had our cart pulled up and greeted us like we had been friends for years. Our other great experience was with Lillian, our wonderful beer cart girl! I have met nice people in the past but it's very rare that you meet people that make an impact on your life. These two made our trip something to remember and we want to thank them from the bottom of our hearts. We will definitely be back because of these two.

We are currently staying here for my brother in law's wedding. I wish he saved his money and booked us at the Quality Inn. The room is kinda blah and nothing fancy. For almost $200 a night I would think I'd get more than a full size bed and an arm chair. The shower was a nightmare. The temperature was either ice cubes or scalding and the pressure was non existent. We got in late after tearing down the wedding and there was some ridiculous dude wailing away on his guitar that we had to shout to communicate with the receptionist. Our rooms were down the hall past the infamous Jack's where we had to navigate past a large crowd of noisy drunks standing in the middle of the hall. There was no ice machine in our wing so I had to go back to the inebriated zone to ask for some ice. I not only received my ice but a sigh and an eyeroll as well. We can't wait to leave and never come back.

The first time we stayed here… it was great. A few things that made us feel like guest services were not important. But, we made the best of it… and bc of that. We left happy. After all, we booked another vacation here, I called back to double check info. The reservationist says "mam, I'm not sure what you want from me!? " just answer the questions.? really? the first stay multiple breakfast we ordered as room service was "forgotten" the next girl I spoke with acted as if she did not car I was not happy … I'll stay somewhere that the employees care how they are paid when and how… I work for a resort. I know the expected standards. Go above and beyond. Not just what is expected by your boss. You will be amazed at your response. Btw, we booked a condo at "the shores" this time. And we were sold something that we were not even paying for. Had I not found out from someone else. That I was not getting a private beach for us. And really it was a private beach for a condominium… I would have been. Irate. Thanks but no thanks. Terrible phone service. And face to face service. Thanks. I'll call comfort inn.

The views are great. The atmosphere is good. Things to do in the area are plentiful. However, when it comes to service, Immortan Joe puts it best… "MEDIOCRE! " We stayed in a condo that had three bedrooms. Throughout the 2 bathrooms there was a total of 4 towels. Also, the sliding door to the upstairs bathroom was out of its track. When we finally got someone to come look at it, after three calls, he simply looked at the door, shook it, and said "it's fixed. " Now, I am a pretty easy guy to please, but it does take a little more than that, especially at $800 for two nights. So if you have to stay somewhere, try everywhere else first. If not, this place will do, I guess.

We recently visited this resort. Our kids gave us a gift certificate to go here because I had previously mentioned I would like to stay there. I was quite surprised that there were no amenities to speak of. The first night we went to Jacks for a bite to eat and drinks. There was just one other couple in the restaurant. There were 2 waitresses and 1 bartender. It took 20 minutes to get waited on! And 35 minutes till our food (a crab dip) to come out. We left very disappointed. We then left to go to the casino. The bell hops and shuttle drivers were excellent! When we returned we had a few drinks in the lobby bar, Jason was awesome! Very friendly! We asked if there was any place else to eat in the "resort " he said it was late 930 and everything closed at 1000. Except Jacks that's open till 11. We told him that we were not happy with Jacks. But since we were hungry and didn't feel like going out we decided to give Jacks another try. Huge mistake! Same rude treatment and service will never recommend Jacks to anyone! Next night we stopped in lobby bar again and Nick was working. He was super great and fun! So was the girl helping him I did not get her name. Fun people. I also was surprised and disappointed that with the price and high resort fee there was no type of breakfast offered or at least a voucher for a discounted meal. Also we wanted to go to the beach/lake and we were told we had to be shuttled. That is was mainly for the condo people?

First off, when I called and made reservation, they did not tell me about the resort fee. Also did not mention the nightly hold on my funds. When checking in, the guy was not friendly, didn't tell me he was billing me up front. Normally when I stay at hotels, I am billed when I leave. He didn't tell me how much he was billing me. And what it was for. I asked to break down the price, because on the phone hey said 684.00. He said 802.00. Didn't explain and I was so confused. I asked to pay with one card and rest cash, he said I couldn't do that. So I asked to put 700.00 on a charge and the rest on another, he then said he couldn't do that. Money is money, correct? I had no idea what I was paying for. Also mentioned something about for going the housekeeping and getting a 10.00 voucher, I said okay, then got no voucher, This place is nice, but for that kind of money per night, I expected a lot more. Hotel was nice. Room was clean, nice comfy beds. Drain in bathtub was clogged and very slow to drain water. Women, bring hair dryer, theirs is very outdated. Also coffee maker was terrible. Bellman was very nice and took all of our bags to room. Bartender at jacks was nice. Breakfast at sweetwater was fair. Pizza very good at jacks. So you know, when you stay you have a resort fee, so even though it says free Wi-Fi, you pay for it in that fee. All in all a great weekend trip. But overpriced. Need to work on the people they have working for them. Not helpful. Won't stay here again.

Stayed two nights for a conference. Room and corridors appear old and tired. Cleanliness of room was iffy. Coffee maker in room was disgusting, hair dryer quit halfway through my hair. Person at front desk said "I'll be sure to let them know that" On the flip side, waitress in the Bistro was awesome and the server who brought coffee in the morning was a ray of sunshine.

My Daughter attended a conference at the resort this past weekend. On Saturday night, she had dinner with her conference in a large banquet room. The server dropped a tray full of plates of half eaten spaghetti, salad, and chicken on her. Food was in her hair and her clothes were ruined. No one ever apologized, and no manager came to see her. No incident report was taken. She was embarrassed and had to leave the function to change her clothes. I left a message for the resort general manager two days ago. Still no response. Accidents happen, it's how they are dealt with that sets a facility apart. I am shocked and dismayed at the lack of professionalism and courtesy of this "resort. " Please consider taking your travel dollars to a different resort.

Would give this place a lower rating if I could. My sister-in-law had my fiance's bachelorette party group stay the night here. Naturally they went to the hot-tub to relax. The maximum occupancy for the hot-tub was taken up by a group of men who were openly drinking which is clearly stated as being against the rules for the hot-tub, they were also streaming their own sexually explicit music from a portable speaker they brought with them. Clearly intoxicated they harassed and violated the space of my fiance' and her group. One of the men got pushy when one of the women asked him to stop touching her, to which he claimed to be a share-holder in the company. My complaint lies within the inability of the staff attending the pool area who did nothing to enforce the clearly broken rules or to help solve the issue. The solution was clearly to kick the men out of the area, but he did nothing even when the women asked for help dealing with the situation. The rules are in place to keep drunk A-holes from behaving this way. I'm extremely disappointed and frankly quite pissed at the Resort's inability and lack of concern in dealing with the situation. Bottom line — if you stay here, don't expect your experience to be of importance to the staff.

In January 1990 My Newly Married Wife And I Went On Our Honeymoon And Stayed In the Tower Of The Grand Traverse Resort. So How Fitting Would It Be For My Wife And I To Stay At The Grand Traverse Resort For Our 25th Anniversary. I Reserved The Room For Two Nights With A Wonderful Gentleman Named Shane. I Spoke To Shane And How This Was Going To Be A Complete Surprise To My Wife. My Wife Thought We Were Staying At Another Hotel. And Boy Did It Work She Was Upset At The Start For Fooling Her. But She Got Over It Quickly. I Reserved A King Bed And Bay View Room View. So My Wife Could Have A Wonderful View. When My Wife And I Checked In With Ryan At The Check In Area. A Manager On Duty Came I Believe And I’m Sorry For Forgetting Her Name. Came And Stood Behind Ryan. Well To Our Surprise She Said Shane Mentioned That We Spent Our Honeymoon There And That It Was Our 25th Anniversary. She Said We Have Upgraded You To A Suite. So We Received The Key Cards To Our Room. When We Opened The Door My Wife And I Saw The King Size Bed. And Then We Saw Another Door Open And Walked Into The Suite Section. We Were Shocked And Could Not Believe How Much Room There Was. And On The Bed Was A Gift Bag Addressed To Us From Shane. It Was A Beautiful Silver Frame. Our Stay Could Not Be Described In Words. It Was Priceless. My Wife And I Would Like To Give A Big Shout Out To Shane, Lori, Ryan, Adam, Noah, Christine And The Entire Management For Such A Priceless Wonderful Gift.

Bought my girlfriend a spa package for her graduation and she loved it. She can't stop talking about it and tells her friends about it. Only downside was that I had double checked the price with them over the phone prior to making the appointment, then when the bill was charged to my card it was larger than what I had been told. Turns out they charged for the tips and fees for the spa workers even though my girlfriend had tipped them while she was there. Thankfully the staff refunded me the additional fees. I'm sure my girlfriend would love to go back but I would advise her and anyone else to make sure you get the out-the-door price before they hit you with any additional fees.

Our team attended a conference at Grand Traverse Resort for the MLTA and had great service friendly staff. But the short ribs luncheon was fabulous. Absolutely the greatest piece of beef I've ever been served.

My daughter and I spent last weekend at the GT Resort and we loved it. From the panormic view of the fall colors on the bay from our window, to the kind and accomodating resort team, to the resort shops, and of course, the comfort of our room was exactly what we needed after being on the go all day. We also had a spa day at the resort and it was spectacular! We are aleady talking about our next visit, exploring some of the resort restaurants and definitely visiting the spa again! Loved it, loved it, loved it.

I have stayed at the resort a handful of times and this time the quality of the rooms/restaurants, etc. Has gone down hill. Our room had some leaking in the bath and had exceptionally poor service in Jack's lounge. I guess the hotel had a few conventions going on but this is still no excuse for poor facilities. Thank goodness that our room was at a discount but for the money, I don't think we will stay there again.

Spruce Run Golf Played 9/25/2013 With my GAM discount the round was a steal. The staff was amazing. From the bag drop attendant I felt welcome. Pro shop staff was very nice and the starter gave me an awesome overview of some of the more difficult holes to expect. Beverage cart was available 3 times during my round. Was a little pricy but cant beat the convenience. I dont recall there being a "turn" to stop and get something, but there was drinking water on several holes. I am a 15 handicap but a longer hitter but still played the white tees. If I manage to hit a fairway I hit long off the tee and some of the holes played a little short. I can hit like 1 in 6 drives 300ish and accurate, so I feel like a douche having to wait for ppl to clear a green when theres a 5/6 chance ill put a drive 100 yards in the woods. The blues play a respectable length. No holes particularly narrow but I wouldn't call the place wide open by any means. If you have a blind shot I highly recommend driving up to see whats over there. I was lazy and ended up losing a couple balls. Also pay attention to the pin placement and green slope tips on the scorecard and save half a dozen strokes. Being late in the season I had no expectation but the course was in great shape. The greens were fast and tough but rolled true. The only real problem was many ball marks unrepaired by players which was annoying, But at least fixable if they were in my line or whatever.
