This inn is beautiful outside and in, we stayed for just one night as we are traveling to Wisconsin. But I love how it looks over a river. The dining room was nice loved the glass mirror has flowers on it and it's big. The breakfast was really good and the lady working in kitchen was extremely nice and helpful. We saw that it has 2 ballrooms and it's so huge and fancy and beautiful. I hope if we travel this way we come back here to stay the night. Our room was nice and the beds are comfortable.

Front desk service is great and the staff was very friendly.

This place is FANTASTIC! The price is moderate, the staff is excellent, the rooms are more than expected and the breakfast is above par!
The old world charm that was incorporated into the remodel is off the charts.

Spacious, clean, comfortable. King bed comfortable and the bathroom was very well appointed and spacious. I make frequent trips to Rockford and will definitely stay here again.

If your in the area this is a great place to stay. Clean rooms and quiet. My son had to have an emergency surgery so we stayed here cause it was close but was so happy with that choice. To make things even better they gave us a discount on the room because he was in the hospital and they did it without us asking. I have been so impressed with them.

Good hotel with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Breakfast leaves something to be desired — suggest going to one of Rockford's good breakfast restaurants. View of the river in summer is blocked by foliage. There is a pretty cool wild boar sculpture in the entrance, which the concierge tells me is a replica of one used in a Harry Potter movie. People rub his snout for good luck.

This place is unique and cool. The views of the Rock River are beautiful. Super nice staff. Breakfast had nice omelets and muffins. The pool was open but the restaurant was closed for remodeling… we due order delivery from nearby RBI's, which was good. Our room was newly remodeled.

This hotel is awesome. The decor is elegant and one of a kind. The staff are some of the most personable people I have ever met. I was on my honey-moon n they upgraded my room for free… thanks to Hannah. The suite I ended up with was amazing. A view of the river, two stories I felt like I was in a luxury condo. Great location. I will be coming back. Rent a room from this place and be thrilled with kindness and quality.

We checked in but ended up leaving because they have no rooms with bathtubs, none in the whole place. The room itself was nice if you don't need a tub. The staff was kind & promptly checked us out and our card was never charged. I hope the renovations bring back the jacuzzi tubs & we will definitely be back. We found a nice hotel with a jacuzzi a few miles down for about the same price.

Entered into town at an odd hour, and staff members were extremely accommodating and allowed me to check in earlier than any other hotel would have in the local area. Room was comfortable, quiet, and very clean. Excellent staff: friendly, knowledgeable. Great pool and workout room. Newly renovated. Grew up going to Cliffbreakers many years ago, and the current renovations capture the hotel's class and elegance. Definitely will book again when in the area.

Staff was great! Room was nice and spacious. They have made many upgrades. All of the historic antiques are really neat too. Very clean room and hotel.

Cliffbreakers is a beautiful hotel conference to go to. The employees helped me with any questions I had and were customer friendly. The breakfast in the morning is GREAT! with a beautiful view of the river. Me and my husband went there after we got married and we LOVED IT!, I just love this place and I will for sure go back.

We came here from Michigan. This place is beautiful and smells so new! We were told we couldn't pay cash so we went to get a pre paid debit. Had a long sign up process only for the card not to work! It wasn't Cliffbreakers fault. The debit card wouldn't work. The clerk at the desk heard everything on the speaker phone and let us check in anyways and we can fix it in the morning. After a long day that was super cool of understandable of her. This will make me recommend this place to anyone. It's not about money but customer satisfaction.

This place is just amazing. If you are a lover of old woodwork and beautifully done glass and marble, you have to see this hotel and Conference Center. If you can get one of the even-numbered rooms you'll have a beautiful view of the river. The rooms are all modern and freshly redone, the beds are wonderful, and everything is very clean and new. The pool is not open as of May 8th, but it looks like it will be lovely when it's all finished. The breakfast room is large and bright and overlooks the river. There is TV in the breakfast room, but it wasn't turned on, so breakfast was peacefully quiet. The bar in the main conference room is from Al Capone's northern Wisconsin hideout, and is spectacular. The remodeling isn't done yet, so if you have problems with the off-gassing of new construction and new materials this is not the place for you right now. But give it 6 months, and this will be a Showplace.

What can I say, the place is old and it's housing a lot of history. The breakfast was okay, the service was decent, but would I rent a room from here? Absolutely Not.

I didn't stay overnight but attended a conference here. This hotel is conveniently located. The conference room was clean and staff were helpful and friendly. One thing I did notice is that the women's restroom needed attention all weekend long. The handicapped stall was out of order and the other three were dirty. There was trash overflowing from both cans and no one ever seemed to empty them.

Almost half of a wedding party who ate at the reception got food poisoning. It was only the people who ate their chicken. Not only that but the food tasted terrible, all of it except the kids meal food. The part where they hold the actual wedding ceremony needs some serious renovation. The stage was nasty looking with tape on it, they had to buy a huge amount of fabric to cover that nasty stage. The stage was very small, it can not fit the wedding party so they had to just end up sitting in the front row after walking down the isle, while the couple could barely fit on the stage especially if you have a large dress on… There's two sets of doors people can enter into the ceremony room and workers do not help during the ceremony so the couple had to pick out people who were invited to their wedding to guard the doors to make sure late people didn't interrupt. Minus all that, and the fact that half had to leave early after eating their chicken, the reception was fun, which Cliffbreakers had nothing to do with except deliver food and take empty plates.

Hotel needs much renovation. Water stains on ceiling. We opted for a room with a view. Not worth it! Windows dirty on the outside. If you check in during evening hours, all your view is of darkness. We need to wash it clothing. Unfortunately, no laundry detergent is sold on the premises. Towels were every stiff. Felt like I was washing with a scrubbing pad. Breakfast consists of donuts, coffee and cereal. Stayed last year and had a wonderful selection of hot and cold edibles. What a difference a year can make. Stay away from this one!

Amazingly beautiful place for a wedding reception. One of the most memorable weddings of my live was here. Would definitely recommend it for a Rockford wedding.

Very quiet and empty. Not a big selection for breakfast, damp and dark pool area. Freezing hallways. Awesome nice employees.

This is updated review great price great views staff was very friendly room is extremely clean lots of cool history here. Renovations look like they're going to be amazing. Breakfast like most Hotel breakfasts missing the waffle iron but big deal. Views definitely worth the price which is very reasonable.

The hotel is old and worn out. From first appearances it looks shoddy. The carpeting had bleached spots and streaks as well as mold from water. The rooms were dusty and spider filled. The dining area looked like it had never been cleaned. Dust all over the mini fridge unit. The breakfast consisted of old danishes and muffins. Bagels and cereal as well as rock hard biscuits and flavorless gravy. The banquet hall is no better. During the wedding a water pipe broke outside the banquet Vanderbilt room and the fire alarns went off for 15 minutes forcing the wedding to a halt for an hour while we stood outside in the heat until the firemen said it was okay to go back in. I paid 240 after tax for two nights in a hotel that was worth 120 for two nights. I've had better stats at a super 8. The whole upstairs half is under construction but I doubt it's been actively worked on for weeks.

This is my second time staying at Cliffbreakers and it's a decent place. It could use a little TLC and elbow grease but the price is right and it has charm! Little things like cleaning carpets, replacing discolored ceiling tiles, etc would go a long was to polish it up and help not look as shabby. I can see the beauty in the building and hopefully renovations will happen soon. In the meantime I'll take the good pricing and clean bed.

Less than one star. Run down. Looks abandoned from the outside. Should be abandoned. Hair and dirt on the bed. Stains on floors. Not sure if it was from the murder that was there or not. The diner wasn't opened though they listed it but failed to tell us it wasn't open because of renovation. Bad parking lot area. Not quite a clear entrance. No hot tub. Good Wifi no password. Ripped carpet and walls. No air in elevators. What looks like mold on the ceiling in the pool area. Soft beds with feather tick comforters. There was a phone with no buttons. No dial tone. The ladies said it was because of renovations. But it rang at 4:30 in the morning for both days there! Deer head on the wall with a wild pig statue or water fountain. Just bad.

We'd thought we made a huge mistake not doing more research before booking and the lack of email confirmation when doing so should have been a red flag. The hotel is right by a strip mall, I would even attempt to classify this place as a resort. We got here 30 minutes before check-in and were turned away, which is fine. We decided to walk around the grounds to check the place out. There's nowhere to go. Walking around to the Riverside results in a no-path, no view of the backside of a hotel in complete disarray. When we finally got into the room, we were relieved to find it clean and in decent shape, so thanks for that! There were some kids on the floor above us shaking the chandelier in the room (yes! There's a chandelier in 322! ), but hardly the hotel's fault. I was going with one star, but the room's condition helped.

Really thought Jack Nicholson might pop out as the long hallways gone on forever like the Shining! I love that they play classic rock through speakers through the hallways. The beds are awesome… the hotel is run down and not in a great area. The breakfast in pretty nonexistent… instant oatmeal, yogurt and some fruit. Coffee is bad… however, there is something about the place. The staff is super friendly and there's clearly some history to the hotel. It needs major updating but if I was in town for a similar event (soccer tourney) and needed a spot, I would book again.

We booked a wedding for April over a year ago. We loved the view of the river and the nice large deck. The night before our wedding we were told that the deck was closed due to safety concerns (after we gave them a certified check). During the reception they ran out of tonic? Food was good but that was about it. Bathrooms were out of order, guests complained about the rooms — still waiting for a refund which was promised over a month ago. I cannot begin to tell you the disappointment we have had regarding this situation. Rude staff, nobody cares and it is all because management staff sucks the big one. If you have something booked here cancel it now or suffer the disappointment we did.

Was here for my school's Prom. The banquet hall was very nice, the food was decent, and the view from the balcony was good too. Good experience overall for a high school dance.

We went as a group of 6 adults & 6 girls for pre-prom dinner. We were very disappointed as 4 naked fish were over cooked, as was the chicken parmesan sandwich and 3 of the burgers. For the pruce, we felt we got way less quality food than was expected. We still tipped our waitress well as it was not her fault how the food was cooked. We will think twice before coming here again.

Amazing place, great decor and room. Our reservation got eaten in the internet, and they took care of it, and upgraded our room to boot. Great food in the restaurant (the tortellini pomadoro is amazing and the house dressing — white French with a touch of garlic — is a new favorite). We will 100% be back!

Old, yes. But that's part of what makes it so cool. Its got many old school features that bring you back to the day when you knew people who had class used to stay here. It has all your normal room updates and very comfortable beds, so there is little to complain about. So far the staff has been super friendly. I think management changed recently cause you can tell they are upgrading services and staff qualifications. Is it a five-star? No. But seriously folks, if you are in this immediate area, are you going to find much better?

Gee, where do I start. We wanted a room with a river view and all we got was great big bushes. You were unable to open the windows to get fresh air. There were holes in the wall in the room, hallway, and elevator. The TV barely worked. The hole experience was very un inviting. During check out the front staff ask how everthing was I stated it was fair and they didn't seem to care. I got a 1/2 smile, giggle and then my bill. One of the curtains in the room was broken, and the coach was torn. This was the worst hotel experience that I have ever had in my 44 years of life. This was my first visit and will be my last and will never recommend this place at all. The only thing that saved this small relaxing weekend was time spent at the Anderson Japanese garden.

I would have gave it three stars if the housekeeper had not stole from me. This hotel was okay. Our room was not on time but I did not mine that, but the housekeeper stole my husband's bottles of wine that we put in the refrigerator. I should have left my things in the car while I waited for my room to get ready but I didn't. I put my wine in the refrigerator than left to go to dinner while they finish cleaning my room. I ask for more soap for my room and never got them. The service phone I had in my room ranged and ranged late in the middle of the night. Too expensive with so many problems and complaints. But the room itself was nice. Had a nice view. The bathrooms were very clean. The rest of the room was not very clean. The buffet breakfast was okay, also. This is a second choice hotel. i would have gave it three stars if the housekeeper had not stole from me.

Awesome place to stay and rest. The staff are fabulous and really love where they work. Been here 4 nights, have one more to go and wish we were staying longer.

Terrible hotel. The hot water run cold after 10 minutes. The toilet did not flush.

Took 2 hours after check-in to get into the room because it was dirty, then the keys made didn't work, maintenance had to let us in, then informed us they had to take our door off. They moved us to another room that was again dirty and took 2 hours to clean. It was 8pm before we got into our room. Checked for bed bugs (cause the whole hotel looks dirty and rundown) and found an enormous urine stain on the mattress and the light switch was crusted with dried seminal fluid. The pool is closed down with no signage or notification on the website. What an absolute nightmare of a hotel. Management was not interested in making things right, just plugging their new workout equipment. I wouldn't recommend staying there, and I surely would not recommend having a wedding there and forcing your friends and family to stay there. The walls are falling down, cracks throughout the building, It is by far the worst "hotel" experience I have ever had, and I have traveled through Asia.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I recently stayed at the Cliffbreakers Hotel in Rockford over Labor Day Weekend in room 214. During my 3-night stay the hot water in my shower did not work. The phone in my room was broken, and the two treadmills in the gym were broken as well. My biggest concern was the hot water though, which is a basic necessity. I made the front desk aware of the water situation Friday evening. I was told it would be looked into. I was gone all day Saturday, when I returned to my room, the hot water in the shower was still not working. I notified the front desk on this issue once again, and was told it was being looked into. Luckily as it was Labor Day weekend I didn’t spend too much time in my room. The problem was never fixed, I was never given another room with working hot water. Upon check out, I shared my frustration with the front desk and asked that a refund be applied to my room for the inconvenience. I was told by Derrick at the front desk there was nothing he could do, but he would let the manager know and have him contact me to discuss a refund. The hotel manager Casey never contacted me. On Wednesday I contacted him. Upon speaking to the manager he spoke to me in a condescending tone as if I was lying about the situation. He told me he would have maintenance check into it and get back with me. He contacted me few hours later and told me the hot water in the room was working.
