The air did not work in one of the two rooms I had booked. When we asked about it, the front desk clerk told us they already knew about the issue and gave us a small fan. They never mentioned the broken air conditioning prior to us arriving! On top of that, we found crickets climbing the walls in both rooms and a giant wolf spider in one of the bathrooms. The sheets and blankets were stained, and worst of all, I was told I would be comped for the room without air and WAS STILL CHARGED FOR BOTH. I've called three times with promises that I would be refunded and still haven't seen it happen. Do not waste your money here!

We recently stayed five days. Two out of five nights the room was not cleaned. The housekeeping did not wear masks.

Had a terrible experience with Best Western, Oglesby, IL last Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018! Flyer came out from Best Western discounting the rate to $60. Called the hotel several days before our stay and was given the discounted rate! At check in was given the discounted rate and signed the bill. At night a mgr. Changed the rate to $109 and slipped it under the door and charged our credit cards the difference. A Bait and Switch! Argued the next morning at checkout to no avail. Nick the mgr. Was terrible, rude and dismissive! Gals at the counter very sympathetic and nice! Had about 12 rooms in our party and all really pissed off! Will not be staying at a Best Western again. Suggest Days Inn across the street! Hope the extra $50 was worth the bad press and word of mouth! Goodbye Best Western!

Nick the front desk agent is probably one of the best customer relations persons I have ever met. Bravo to you. The hotel was clean, breakfast good, amenities very nice. We were very satisfied with the hotel and staff.

NOT ALLERGY FRIENDLY Had informed staff at time of reservation of severe allergy to smoke. Was informed they notated the account to be on 1st floor opposite end of the building from smoking rooms. Ended up on second floor diagonally from smoking rooms. Upon checking in we verified not near smoking rooms and they didn't tell us it was diagonally from our room. We had to place a towel over the trash can and place it against the huge gap in the door to keep any tertiary smoke out. The first morning when the housekeeping was cleaning all the doors were open and the smoke entered the hallway and the family member with the severe allergy had a mild reaction as we waited for the elevator. They were unable to use the stairs because they are also using a walker. They did move us that morning to the first floor and away from the smoking rooms; but not until after they had placed their customer in a near death situation.

3.5 stars. Clean rooms, pool, fitness center, and morning breakfast which was typical but tasty (eggs, bacon, waffles, cereal, yogurt, HB eggs, oatmeal, etc). Dogs allowed and near Starved Rock and other hiking areas. Reasonably priced. Would recommend over other hotel in the area.

Location was very good if you're planning on hiking. The door to the room didn't open or close very well, but otherwise the room was clean and fine. Walls were a little thin, pool was small. Very family-oriented place. Breakfast had good variety. Noon checkout was nice.

Rooms were clean and have updated furniture and decor. The staff was nice and very helpful. Breakfast was ok for a continental breakfast. They ran out of waffle batter and instead of refilling it with a half hour left of breakfast they just put away the empty container. A water cooler or cold filter water in the lobby would have been nice. They had some bottled water that was room temp. The side door on the east end of the first floor seemed to be broken and wouldn't shut or lock. It's close to Starved Rock state park which is why we chose it. Also plenty of places to eat that are within 10 minute drive. Overall a good hotel but not a great hotel.

I only stayed one night at the Best Western in Oglesby Illinois. I was traveling through Illinois and always try to stay at a Best Western when possible. Everyone was friendly and all the amenities were to my satisfaction. Outstanding breakfast!

The room was clean and comfy. The breakfast was good too and there were plenty of refreshments.

Great service and wonderful rooms just wish the hottub worked.

Not a very good stay for the money. Suffered inconveinences such as room key cards that stopped working, exterior door that would not respond to the key card as well as a pretty shabby breakfast that was not prepared well. Probably the worst stay I have experienced in at least two years. Luckily in the area their are other places available. I do not recommend this one.

Fun place, found everything I was looking for with regards top a hiking trip. Tidy store with very helpful staff.

Pleasant unexpected stop. Staff was great, as was the bed and breakfast. Appreciated having a sofa instead of a chatr.

Hiking at Starved Rock? Great location, hearty breakfast, close to hiking, restaurants and shopping. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean rooms. Swimming and whirlpool after a long day of hiking. Close to Matthiessen State park as well (which is worth the hiking).

Great hotel. Stayed for the night. Good night's sleep. The breakfast was amazing! Multiple choices including scrambled eggs, sausage links, sausage patties, waffles, donuts and fruit.

We love this place. Rooms are clean. Continental breakfast is fresh. And the coffee ain't watered down. We always get a room here when we goto starved rock state park. It's usually quieter then the other hotels including starved rock hotel.

Has always been clean and the people who work there are helpful. The breakfast has enough and the coffee is fresh. I don't expect the Ritz. And this place has always been reliable.

Excellent place to stay. Friendly helpful staff. Clean facility and rooms. Comfortable beds and nice breakfast. Pet friendly with lots of space to walk your pet. Large field just to south of property. Nice place form pizza is Sam's, which is close by. Highly recommend the experience. Sam is one of a kind.

Great location and very affordable. Would have given it 5 stars but hot tub was cold, however they fixed it the next morning. Breakfast was great! Comfy beds. I’ll be coming back!

Room was decently spacious, breakfast was some of the best hotel breakfast I've had in a while. Beds were somewhat comfy. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a few nights you stay.

Best Western was contacted by the staff of Days Inn because they had a water main break and sent people over. The manager at Best Western claimed they could bill the Days Inn for our stay to prevent a double charge; but, the next morning they claimed they could only charge us. Because the manager spoke incorrectly about an arrangement with Days Inn, we were stuck with two bills and had to make many phone calls to sort it out. We still haven't been credited.

I was sent to this hotel from another hotel because of a utility problem. Best Western was supposed to bill the original hotel. This was discussed on the phone before I went over, discussed in person when I arrived, and I was still billed for the stay. When I went to discuss the situation, I was told at the front desk I would be issued a refund and they would bill the original hotel. After I checked out, I got a voicemail that they wouldn't refund me, I'd have to seek reimbursement elsewhere. Moral of the story, the hotel was fine but the customer service was awful. I'm lucky that I had the extra money on hand, because it's been several days and I haven't been reimbursed by anyone.

Very nice newer hotel. Able to being our pets for a fee. Nice staff. Typical breakfast, eggs, sausages, biscuits and gravy and continental. I'll stay there again.

This is a nice and quiet hotel even tho it's on the Interstate. The room was very decorated nicely, the bed was comfortable, it was very clean and breakfast was outstanding. I would highly recommend this hotel.

First of all the staff is top notch & friendly! Very helpful! The room was awesome, as clean as the rooms I have had at Walt Disney World Resorts. Comfy rooms, awesome comfy beds! Thermostat on wall to control air conditioner. Quiet rooms! No smell of smoke or anything like that, and my dog got to stay too for only $20. Excellent free breakfast, including eggs, sausage, waffles, sweet rolls, bagels etc, plus yogurt, cereals and more. Very clean throughout hotel, very secure rooms. About 10 min to Starved Rock State Park, Mathiessen State Park & others, great location for outdoor recreation including the Illinois River, if you are looking for a Starved Rock location this is the hotel to choose! Also there is a KFC/Taco Bell practically in the parking lot and Burger King, McDonalds also close by. Was very pleased with our stay!

We had a group of 14. Check in was at 3 but we arrived early for a Vine Festival going on and we were able to get into all four rooms before heading out the the festival. Front desk was very friendly and the free breakfast was good. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Even the cleaning crew that next morning were very friendly, making sure to tell you good morning and have a nice day.

The location was perfect for us since we where visiting the state parks with our 2 year old son. They have gas station, restaurant and fast food within walking distance from the hotel. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The room was very nice, clean and comfy. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The breakfast was decent. Offering biscuits and gravy, sausage and scrambled eggs for warm food. And the in general bread, pastries, bagels, cereal, etc… overall very satisfied with our stay.

I was very happy with the service we received. Vinnie (front desk) was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel was nice and clean. And the breakfast food was very good. We had a nice stay. I recommend the hotel to anyone!

Was a little nervous from reading some reviews But our experience here was Very Pleasant. All the Staff was very very nice and helpful. Room was Very Clean and updated. Breakfast was really good lots of waffles, Sausage, Eggs, Biscuits and gravy, Bagels yogurt juices milk coffee. Will diffently come back.

I usually stay at best westerns/ plus hotels, and this one is a bit below the standard. It has a good pool and hot tub though shallow, and small. It is the smallest best western I've dtayed at, but not very busy. One of the pulleys on the exercise equipment was broken, but they still have a treadmill, elliptical and stationary bike. I got the feeling the lower standards are a result of the small town location. The rates where very reasonable though for a 2 bed room. I only paid $65. I would say it was good value, very clean, with average customer service. Hope that helps.

We checked in around 815 PM on July 25, 2017. We had reserved a no smoking room due to asthma and allergy reasons. I chose this hotel due to the 4 star rating found online. At check-in, there were two young guys at the desk. I wanted to be sure the room was no smoking, so I politely asked the guy checking us in assure myself our room was no smoking. The other guy chided that "actually we are funneling the smoke from the smoking rooms into yours. " What can you say to that com…ment? We were in room 130. The rear hotel door was ajar and unsecured at all hours. Anyone who wants in can get in. I went to our room. Upon opening the door, there was a stale, musty warm smell. We pushed the luggage cart in and in the bathroom, there was a dirty floor mat, dirty towel over the shower rod, used soaps in the shower, lint all over the carpet, used coffee packets on the table, and suspicious spots on the sheets. The beds looked made, but im not sure the sheets were ckean. The desk staff sent us a bottle of soap and a clean towel and no action or offer of a clean room. Photos were posted to Trip Advisor. The door of our room is NOT able to be secured with the deadbolt because there is not a hole in the door frame for it to work. The door did not close easily. Breakfast was okay and average. The cleanliness of the breakfast area was lacking attention. The windows to view outside were clouded and smeared. Tables were dirty at 7 AM. The other windows blocked the view of the pool.

Rooms were alright. Went to take a shower in the morning and there was a dirty wash cloth over shower rod and black hair in the bottom of the tub. Obviously wasn't cleaned! Also, at about 8am, all we could hear were people yelling in Spanish. Later, to find out it was the cleaning crew up and down the hall. Not a very relaxing night away.

The rooms were very clean and the young man that checked us in was very friendly. Was too crowded for breakfast so we had to skip that but all in all it was a good stay. I'll stay again when I visit. My granddaughter lives not long from the hotel.

Not the best place. Evening girl has an attitude problem. Couldn't get more than 2 extra pillows even though my bf has a back issue. And said to leave my room. Don't clean. Even ts the gm. They still went in.

The rooms are very nice and beds are super comfortable, but that's about all its got going for it. The "jacuzzi" was a warm bath water, the jets didnt have those little funnels on them so it just shot straight up a foot or so out of the water. We didn't bother checking the pool. It's pet friendly which can be nice but if your dog flips out any time you step out of the room, don't bring it! Next time will ask for a room away from other guests.

My company booked through a third party for the wrong date, which I don't hold against the hotel, but then it took an hour for them to book me a room for the correct date. Room was fine aside from the whole finding some bugs in the bathroom thing… Will not return.

Very nice, clean rooms! Comfy bed! And a wonderful hot tub and indoor pool! Breakfast was delicious and satisfying! Great selection of food! Would def recommend this hotel to anyone passing through the area!

My real rating would have to be subtract 5 stars from the one above, hears what happened… It was very deceiving because at first it seems friendly but then we had problems with the key cards working EVERYDAY nd take note we paid 2 weeks stay up front, there's a customer satisfaction guaranteed letter posted in the rooms, I presented the letter with our complaints "not the cleanest kept" I am 70 yrs old nd didn't return till the morning at 5am couldn't get in the door again so made the complaints the night lady was very nice guaranteed the manager would call at 10am sharp nd make things much better… He called nd said "he was very sorry about my under satisfactions but that I was loud nd other guests complained I kept them up all night nd that he was sorry to inform me I needed to be out that day by checkout time " then I still had 9 days left of my pre-paid stay. He proceeded to have the oglesby police nearly kick my door in nd have me immediately leave at 10:10am I told him nd the police look at the cameras me or my vehicle weren't even on the property until 4:50am so the best the police could do was make him give me till noon to pack my belongings nd the manager told the police to ask me not to speak to him when I was leaving! I did I said have a great day in the land of were a 70 yr old white lady can be put out of her vacation stay in no time by the immigrant who probably doesn't even pay as many taxes on that hotel as I do on my own home.

The hotel is really close to starved rock. The rooms are clean and the people are friendly. However the Wi-Fi is pretty sketchy.

It should be possible to give zero stars. We checked into two rooms for one night on 8/15 on our way to Cincinnati. One of them smelled like pee and within 5 minutes of sitting on a bed, 4 ants crawled on me. I found different rooms an hour down the road in Bloomington at the Doubletree (STAY THERE! ). Spoke with the manager, who resisted letting us check out, but he eventually agreed to let us go without billing for the rooms. He claims that the room smelled okay (cuz he likes the smell of pee) and that he didn't see any ants. Apparently life is supposed to be like a Tom & Jerry episode and I should be able to cue a line of watermelon-carrying ants to walk across the bed on cue. Returned home after our two week vacation on 8/27 to discover that he did, in fact, charge us. He won't return a phone call, lies to corporate customer service and refuses to reimburse us for the two rooms. I called again today (9/14) and finally spoke with the manager, who (after putting me on hold for 25 minutes while he reviewed his notes of lies) has decided to have selective memory and can't seem to remember me telling him that we were checking out of his Germ Chateau, or 3/4ths of the conversation that led up to our agreeing that "he wouldn't charge us if we would leave in the next 10 minutes. " Then he hung up on me, because that's the super professional thing to do when you know you're wrong and you're screwing someone over.

The hotel is fine, management is the worst. They messed up my billing and charged the wrong card twice and now refuse to reimburse our account $175 in NSF charges their error caused. The folios do not indicate the card charged at check-out like most hotels. Funny, when corporate called it took a newly hired clerk two minutes to figure out their mistake that the general manager couldn't. Guess that explains why my calls go unreturned. Worst managed Best Western I've ever stayed.

There was hair in our grubby shower, handprints on the mirror. Our dog was licking the sheets! Ugh. Gross. Go down the road to Hampton inn in Ottawa.

Clean, updated. Friendly staff, inexpensive. A very good hotel overall. Would definitely stay again.

What a great experience here. The staff were really friendly and housekeeping greeted us every day and asked if we needed anything (in the hallways. They didn't knock on our door or anything). The free breakfast was a nice surprise considering there were multiple hot choices, and one of the nights they even had freshly baked cookies at the front desk. There was always coffee, hot tea, hot cocoa and oatmeal in the front hallway and we definitely took advantage of it when we needed to! Our room was nice and clean and we had a great time here. The only complaints were that the hot tub (one of the reasons I chose this hotel) was not working and they don't provide hair conditioner, only shampoo. Just a heads up! Otherwise a great stay.

Decent room for the price. No problems. Pool looked nice, we were just too tired to try it out. Breakfast was the usual hot continental hotel breakfast.

Excellent hotel! Clean, nice staff, great whirlpool. They really respect privacy and don't badger you or intrude on your room etc. Its well kept, clean and rooms have all necessities (microwave, fridge) Its in beautiful area and quiet next to corn fields and close to Starved Rock/Mathissen park etc. I highly recommend it! Will return for sure.

After a long days drive, we checked in here. Friendly staff, nice fresh smelling room. Included microwave, refrigerator, and floor safe.
