We are on our honeymoon in the Charlotte suite and so far everything is beautiful. Suite was very clean and they have provided everything we need. Their breakfast is absolutely amazing. It’s quiet and they provide games and a common room for us to use and even had umbrellas for us! Perfectly located within walking distance of the historic downtown. Highly recommend! Will be coming back! Elaine’s cookies are delicious!

Amazing B&B! We stayed in the Charlotte room and it was divine. The breakfast is delicious and staff is so friendly. We came for our 10 year anniversary and had a blast in Galena!

For our anniversary my husband arranged a surprise visit to Galena and he selected Farmers Guest House for our overnight accommodations. The building is from 1867 and was thoughtfully turned into a very quaint comfortable bed and breakfast. Mark, Luke and Elaine are the worker owners and they made us feel extremely welcomed. We stayed in the “Mary” and found it to be decorated beautifully and very clean. I especially loved the garden area. Our whole experience was 5 stars plus and we can’t say enough about the delicious breakfast that Elaine made for us. We also enjoyed our conversation with Mark on a variety of topics. I highly recommend Farmers Guest House and we will be back again for another stay. Joe and Donna L.

We just finished our two night stay at this lovely bed and breakfast. Our friend suggested Farmers Guest House and we were hesitant due to past B and B experiences. However, they have proved us wrong and changed our minds! The staff was fabulous. The room was comfortable. The inn itself is absolutely perfect. The tiny touches they did for us to make us comfortable was much appreciated. We will be back and I suggest you try them out next time you are in Galena.

The rooms are comfortable, the food is amazing, the owners are so friendly. The do everything to make you comfortable. If you want to be spoiled… this is the place. Thank you Luke, Elaine and Mark for a wonderful relaxing weekend.

For anyone looking for a special getaway I would highly recommend FGH. Wonderful hospitality from wonderful owners. This was our second time staying here and loved it. The building is charming, close to town, owners are thoughtful and the breakfasts and amenities & homemade treats are unlike anywhere else. Thank you to Mark, Elaine and Luke for a great stay. Wonderful bed & breakfast! We had an amazing stay this past weekend, celebrating our anniversary. The whole place was so charming and beautiful. We stayed in the Charlotte suite and we were blown away by how lovely and spacious the room was. The breakfast was superb! I highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be back.

I can't say enough good things about Farmers Guest House. My husband and I spent the weekend here for a relaxing getaway, and the experience far exceeded our expectations. Elaine and Luke were there to greet us upon our arrival and they were friendly and welcoming. Luke took our bags upstairs while Elaine gave us a tour. I was excited to see that the dining area had a Keurig and freshly baked cookies for guests to snack on. Elaine also baked pecan bars, which were the best I've had. It was these extra touches that made a big difference. I also enjoyed the 5pm Wine Time with Mark, Luke, Elaine, and the other guests. It was a nice way to kick off the evening. We stayed in the Malvina room, which was cozy and well-appointed. I appreciated that we were able to schedule a massage appointment at FHG, because they have an in-house massage studio. One of the best parts of the trip was the breakfast. It was wonderful to wake up to the amazing smells coming from the kitchen. The breakfast was excellent both mornings. The guest house is a short walk to the action of downtown Galena. I highly recommend Farmers Guest House to others who are looking for a relaxing getaway, delicious food, and wonderful hospitality. We will certainly be back.

Loved our visit at the Farmers Guest House. Elaine, Luke and Mark are wonderful innkeepers. They made us feel welcome from the time we arrived until we left. The food was AMAZING! What an amazing place. Stayed in the Julia suite and it was wonderful. Breakfast was delicious and Wine time was a great time to hear stories from new management and meet our fellow guests. From the time we walked in til the time we left we felt welcomed and at home. It's a very cozy place to stay and we will definitely be back … I see no other reason to go anywhere else This will be our Galena home we visit when we come. Thanks guys for all you do … We definitely look forward to our next visit… you guys are off to great success in your new adventure in Galena.

Unique atmosphere and delicious food.

Absolutely amazing and worth every penny! My husband and I are having a great time here now. Don and Susan have made our stay perfect, suggesting food options, making reservations, keeping the cookie jar full, wine time, and a delicious breakfast that’s different every day. I highly recommend staying here!

Had a wonderful time. The breakfast was terrific. One of the owners won a Food Network Holiday Baking Challenge and has a cook book. The other owner was incredibly friendly and hospitable. … Beds were cozy and I usually hate a firm bed. Our first time at a B&B but I’d definitely go again!

Susan and Don were wonderful. Really everything about the stay was a treat! I know Susan has won best breakfast in America before and if it’s based on only one breakfast I don’t know which one was chosen! The breakfasts we had were all incredible. The guesthouse has history and learning that was fun, the house is within walking distance of the downtown and we didn’t move our car once. I will be coming back without a doubt. Galena is an awesome small town and is more than worth visiting! Thank you again Susan and Don (and Charles)

We had the most memorable experience at the Farmer's Guest House. We stayed there to celebrate my husband's birthday and definitely were not disappointed in our choice. As soon as we arrived, Susan and Don made us feel right at home, just as if we were family. The room we stayed in was charming and very comfortable and Susan's morning breakfasts were absolutely mouthwatering! We also appreciated Susan making dinner reservations for us at Fritz and Frites which was simply divine. Our thanks to all staff at Farmer's Guest House as well for making our stay so wonderful. My husband and I decided to stay at this B&B for our 19th wedding anniversary. We truly had such a wonderful experience and felt very comfortable. Don and Susan are very kind and hospitable and made our little vacay very memorable! We also loved that this B&B is in walking distance of the downtown and that we were served a fantastic breakfast both mornings of our stay!

My wife and I stayed for a weekend trip to Galena to celebrate our anniversary. Susan and Don were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The evening wine and cheese was delicious. Breakfast was filling and wonderfully prepared. The local coffee provided was a fun treat. We stayed in the "Minnie" and enjoyed having our own thermostat and updated private bath. We were very pleased with the short walk to Downtown as well as walking and biking trails. We rode our bikes on the river trail which was about a 10 mile round trip to see the Mississippi River. It was a beautiful shaded and maintained gravel trail. We also walked to the end of Main Street, where the blacksmith shop was located and talked with 2 blacksmith while they worked. It was a great trip all around and staying at the Farmers Guest House was certainly a good pick.

This is an exceptional bed and breakfast! The innkeepers are super friendly and make you feel "at home". The inn itself is both charming and very clean. Their attention detail is very much appreciated — from Turkish towels that are thick and soft to outdoor spaces to just sit, relax, and enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine. The late afternoon wine time let us unwind and get to know Susan and Don as well as some of the other guests. And, then there is breakfast! Susan alternates the morning menus between savory and sweet, and the breakfast we had was delicious! The recipes for the breakfast items are in her cookbook — yes, she's a published author, and the cookbook is a gem! We look forward to returning to Farmer's Guest House, hopefully during the holiday season when the house is decorated with seven trees!

We had a wonderful experience at Farmers. It was a celebration for us, Everyone was so very gracious and friendly. We have never been to a B&B. It is a pleasant environment, very homey feeling, comfort and relaxed.
The room we were in Charlotte was like our home away from home. They have everything you need and some you did not think of. We stayed one night it felt longer they let you feel like family not just an occupant in a hotel. Very quiet, peaceful gardens. Close to town, you have a scenic 15-20 min walk. Food is great, we loved getting there and wine time just started, enjoyed it. Recommended by us.

The perfect B&B in Galena, perfectly located to the main strip it's just a short walk from Farmers Guest House. The breakfast was delightful the room was clean, comfortable and with our own thermostat, it was nice to put the a/c down to 68 on hot day! The owners were nice, polite and very catering to almost any request. I couldn't recommend this place more. If your looking for a quaint town to get away to and a great place to stay Farmers Guest House is the place to stay. FYI the food is great and they leave fresh baked cookies in a jar for those late night cravings!

Such a wonderful place! The owners are warm and friendly and go above and beyond to give their guests a good experience. Susan is an amazing chef, and her breakfast was deliciously memorable every morning. We loved the room and the atmosphere, and we will definitely be back! If you're looking for a B&B in Galena and you don't book a room here you're cheating yourself out of an incredible experience!

Can't recommend this place enough. Perfect B&B experience. Just close enough to downtown to be accessible, but far enough away to be peaceful. The food was perfect. Make sure you allow yourself to fully participate in the B&B lifestyle!

One can tell the owners take pride in their work from the charm and cleanliness of each space to the finest detail. Breakfast has generous and delicious portions. Evening "wine time" is equally satisfying. Massages are available on site. Consider the private cottage located just steps from the main house. Whichever choice you make, you are sure to be happy with the room. Enjoy your own space or take advantage of the common area with large TV and board games as well as beautiful outdoor seating. Within walking distance from main attractions this bed and breakfast exceeded my expectations.

My wife and I LOVED the time we shared at Farmers Guest House. Don and Sue were great hosts and a wealth of information on the area. The breakfasts were amazing and delicious. The nightly 'wine time' was a great chance to relax and talk with other guests. All of the rooms are very cozy and uniquely decorated. Did I mention the amazing breakfasts? We plan to visit Galena again and will not stay anywhere other than Farmers Guest House. I wonder what Sue will be serving for breakfast.

We found Farmers Guest House to be an excellent find! During our visit we found exceptional attention to detail from the minute we walked through the door. Super clean, friendly, and a comfortable atmosphere. The breakfast was amazing and the coffee was fantastic. What I liked most was the home cooked breakfast, the friendly staff and how clean the entire place was. I definitely would recommend you give it a try.

This is the best B&B anywhere! Susan and Don are WONDERFUL and go above and beyond! Our room was super cozy, clean and decorated very nicely. Wine time was always a must and much enjoyed. Susan even made my reservations for downtown for me for supper because I forgot but she was on it. Breakfast is delicious and service is wonderful! If a B&B is what you are looking for, this is it! I am a returning guest and have booked another stay. Can’t wait! Thank you Farmers for yet another wonderful stay!

Dan & I had a great time there this weekend… Susan was great about paying attention to detail about food I liked since I have to eat gluten-free. She heard me say I like chocolate & walnuts… The next morning, she made me a gluten-free chocolate fudge walnut muffin! YES, it was DELICIOUS! This morning's was lemon poppy seed. Just as scrumptious! And for me, you can't go wrong with corned-beef hash. The rooms are beautiful & comfortable. The atmosphere of the whole place is friendly, welcoming, & homey.

My wife and I stayed two nights and had a great time. Susan and Don are great people and they really care about their guests. Both my wife and I have food allergies and we were worried that we would not be able to eat some of the food, but Susan made special meals to fit out dietary restrictions, and it was amazing. The location is great, within walking distance of downtown Galena. There is plenty to do. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Farmer's Guest House.

My husband and I stayed in Galena for a quick weekend getaway. Farmers Guest House and Don and Susan were amazing. They are very accommodating. We were a little concerned because I have a dairy and gluten intolerance and my husband has a citrus allergy. Susan was more than accommodating with these restrictions. She greeted us on our first day with gluten free cookies and had gluten free crackers for me during wine time. She made gluten free breakfast and pastries for me each morning. She bought us Neutrogena soap, rather than using the lemon soap that is routinely provided. We were incredibly impressed with her and Don's care. Breakfast was amazing — the food was delicious, the pastries were incredibly, and there were even mimosas. It was very relaxing. At 5:00 each night there is wine hour for all of the guests. This was a nice way to connect with people and hear about the town. On our first night, we were surprised to learn that we would have trouble making dinner reservations for the following evening. Susan was quick to pick up the phone and pull a few strings for us. Overall we highly, highly recommend Farmers Guest House. We have already booked our next weekend getaway here. You will not regret your decision to stay here.

Owners do a phenomenal job of providing a cozy and welcoming b&b experience. Room was clean and well appointed. We had a fireplace and an outside entrance which were a nice touch. Walking distance to town. Breakfasts were OUTSTANDING!

My college girlfriends and I were looking to do a weekend reunion / getaway and stayed at the Farmers' Guest House. Don and Susan run the best B&B I've ever been to, hands down. From the second we walked in the door, we felt at home. The inn is a short walk to downtown, and Don and Susan were more than happy to make any reservations we needed or offer suggestions on things to do. Our rooms were very clean and did not lack anything. Charles, the housekeeper, was phenomenal! Our rooms were on the back of the house and overlooked the back garden. The back garden is quaint and beautiful and since the B&B is built into a hill, it's 100% secluded. I enjoyed coffee out in the back garden each morning. Breakfast was delicious! One of the girls in my group is allergic to a preservative used in orange juice, and Susan went out of her way to go downtown and get some fresh squeezed orange juice for her to have with breakfast. One evening, we were met at the door with fresh chocolate chip cookies. It's the little unexpected things like these that made our stay so great! Susan keeps pretzels, chocolate chip cookies, and snickerdoodles stocked in the dining room for guests to snack on and coffee / tea are available all the time. She also keeps a refrigerator stocked with water and soda, which was much appreciated in the July heat.

My husband and I had a marvelous stay at Farmer's Guest House. The room was beautifully decorated and I loved the morning sunshine spilling into the room. Breakfast was excellent and WineTime was a delightful surprise. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The lunch and dinner recommendations were wonderful. Can't wait to return for a visit!

What an cozy and fun place to stay. We loved chatting with our hosts Susan and Don. They make you feel at home and are very knowledgeable. They made a few snowy dreary days very sunny and memorable. The breakfasts were amazing and so full of flavor. You won't/shouldn't leave hungry. There's even wine time daily from 5 to 5:30. Will be back again.

We spent the weekend here with friends and it was fantastic! Don and Susan are wonderful hosts. It is very cozy and we felt at home immediately. It was decorated to the nines for Christmas, very beautiful. The rooms had all the modern conveniences, including TV and private bath. The breakfast was unbelievable. Very unique and tasty. And we loved "wine time" at 5 pm! I would highly recommend this B&B when traveling to Galena. Even my husband, who is not a B&B guy, loved it. A wonderful experience.

We stayed the night of our wedding and the following day. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have every laid in! I never wanted to leave. It was a perfect place to unwind after an amazing event. Amazing breakfast in the morning, walking distance from downtown, and the most accommodating hosts you could ask for! We can't wait to stay again!

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Farmers Guest House and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Susan and Don were friendly and inviting hosts and were helpful at recommending dinner locations and things to do in the beautiful Galena area. The historic building was comfortable, clean, and full of charm. The breakfasts were delicious and included mimosas with a variety of juice options. Each evening at 5:00, the guests were invited to WineTime to enjoy wine, cheese, and conversation with the hosts and other guests. To top it off, my husband and I added the couples massage to our stay, which was wonderful. I highly recommend this bed & breakfast!

We had a great stay for eight nights at this excellent inn which is conveniently located to the downtown. The food is excellent, the innkeepers outstanding and the rooms great! Highly recommended! There is so much to do in the area from vineyards to restaurants, house tours to nature.

The decor was wonderful! The hostess and other staff were very personable. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! The baked items were particularly amazing! Mimosas in the morning and wine time at five were a treat! Shower heads a little weak. Overall, well recommended and we hope to be back again!

This place is amazing! I did not think I would enjoy a bed and breakfast, but WOW I could not have been more impressed. It was very comfortable and much cleaner than a hotel. The breakfast food was outstanding. When we booked the B&B, my husband mentioned that I am vegan. The owner Susan said she would accommodate me. I thought I would be having a fruit plate. No. Susan made a full breakfast both mornings. Vegan breakfast burritos, blueberry muffins, a fruit bar with amazingly ripe fruit, several juices, and champagne. We even got a couples massage while there. One last thing, there is a "secret" short cut to Main Street that makes for a quick walk to all the attractions. Thank you Susan and Don for such a wonderful experience.

This was our first B n B and more than happy we made that decision. Delightful hosts a most friendly atmosphere and home made gourmet style breakfast that's delicious served with great coffee and wonderful Mimosas yum. Some most wonderful conversations with host's and guests. We've stayed three times now and treasure every stay. Looking forward to our October stay.

Don and Susan were great hosts and the accommodations were absolutely lovely! We had our first stay there this winter and we plan to return in the winter or perhaps even a warmer season :) The breakfast was always delicious and dietary restrictions were accommodated easily. I was so impressed they remembered from our booking that I was vegetarian and brought it to my table without a reminder or me even saying my name! Such care and hospitality. I truly felt welcomed and invited in. Lots of nice amenities like cookies and tea and hot chocolate always available. The movie selection was varied and good… but there was so much to do in Galena and the accommodations so relaxing that we never watched one. I highly recommend it as a place to relax and easily explore downtown Galena and the natural beauty in the surrounding area.

Very cozy clean place, with great service. The breakfasts were amazing and unique. Many small simple touches that the hosts had really made it worth the visit, would stay here again for sure. Another plus is being close to downtown Galena.

This is our forest stay at any B&B and we love it! Perfect balance between historic charm and modern amenities. Jacuzzi tub was a plus! Breakfast was great and Susan and Don are such genuine people. Within easy walking distance of Main Street.
