It was fine. Seemed like an older hotel, some of the structure was a little run down, but the room was pretty clean. Plenty of places to eat nearby. I stayed on a packed Saturday night, so I think I paid a little more than normal. But all in all, if I needed to, I'd stay again.

Nice spot. Perfect location close to university and very reasonably priced. Nothing special, dated rooms, bad coffee. But for the price you can't complain. Biggest complaint would be that my door is very difficult to open, usually takes a number of tries.

Reservation for 3 nights but had to leave after 1st night (not their fault). They changed my reservation to the 1 night w/o charging a penalty. Service was excellent (they don't accept cash). Room was clean. Shower was clean, plenty of towels. Ample parking. Plenty of places to eat around. Drawbacks were no refrigerator or microwave. No breakfast. No vending. Beds were hard and low to the ground (not on the ground). I would stay again (but I would bring along some snacks).

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend. When we went into the lobby at 4pm there was an event going on and the music was so loud that I couldn't hear the front desk woman talking to me. Our room was across the entryway from the lobby. When we walked in one of the beds was unmade, there was hair on the bed where the previous guest stayed and there was a dirty wash cloth on the floor. We went to the front desk and a girl came and was very nice and remade the bed with fresh linens. The clean towels that were in the room had hair on them so that was gross. And the carpeting felt wet and sticky even though we turned the air on to try and get rid of the humidity. The bathroom floor was also sticky. I wouldn't let myself or my kids walk around on the floor without shoes on. The pool was nice and my kids enjoyed that but there were people in the pool area drinking alcohol and one of them hit on me when I was there with my husband and kids in the pool (Not that they control other guests obviously but it added to my negative mood). Around 10pm the music from the wedding in the lobby was BLARING, it was so awful. I called the front desk and asked when it would be turned off and I was told midnight. Really? And on top of that people from the wedding had moved some of the pool furniture outside of the pool to sit on. And the wedding guests kind of spilled outside the lobby area into the courtyard outside the rooms all night talking and hanging out and that kept us up as well.

We were desperately looking for a room as we'd been driving for about 14 hours and needed a cheap place to sleep. Guy at the front desk was incredibly kind, very helpful, and an overall nice dude. We got to our room, the rooms were spotless. In our double bed room, we had a spacious area, a fridge, a TV, free Wi-Fi, and two water bottles! Considering we paid 65 bucks before tax, this room was amazing. I've been to many a motel before and man, Jesus sure was lookin' out for me on this one.

Your standard cheaper motel. Good staff. The Wi-Fi isn't great though so be warned. We had some trouble with our room and they ended up giving us a free night.

I haven't stayed here yet, but the woman working the front desk was awesome. She was very helpful, informative, and so friendly. I would recommend this hotel based on the excellent customer service alone.

Worth every single penny you pay. It depend on how much you paid.

HUGE Red Roof, a bit old and the stairs are all creepy and rusty. But the rooms looks very nice!

The atmosphere of the place is" kind of a dump". But the room was nice and large. The bed was comfortable as were the many pillows For the most part, very clean. The problem I had was the the smell of mold that comes out of of the air conditioner/heater. I'm allergic to mold so after a couple of hours I was sneezing like crazy, all stuffed up, my throat hoarse, and I felt like I had a fever. Two hours after leaving, I was fine.

Was very disappointed, they charge so much and took away breakfasts there. Room smelled like smoke and also musty smelling.

This hotel is right next to the train tracks and you can definitely tell. The staff is rude. My family had to say there due to our house that we just started renting in November being filled with carbon monoxide and the fire Marshall making it listed as "uninhabitable" I went to the desk to ask questions and she asked why my father in law was so mad at the landLord for only resErving 3 rooms it's not his fault that the house is poisonous. (We live in a duplex our part is 5 bedrooms in which we have 2 couples and 2 other people, and a small dog living, and next door has 3 people living. We share the furnace) the woman at the counter was like "I'm sure the land lord didn't rent to alllll of you" I am absolutely furious. We just moved in and got comfortable for the first time in years! And basically got thrown out of our home temporarily and I don't need her sass.

Don't stay here unless you really need a place to crash late at night. Wifi is slow. Room was fine (even though the deadbolt was broken off/missing) until I got to the shower. Which had a spider in it, human (? ) hair on the wall, and only got lukewarm when cranked to full heat. Who knows how long it's even been since that thing was cleaned. Will never come here again. Save your money!

Very nice for a cheaper hotel definitely go there again. They never get the pool right though constantly shut down that's the only thing I'd change along with the gym is not 24 hours which is dumb since the cashier is right there.

We were able to get a deal on the bridal suite for booking a room block for our wedding. The suite cost us the same as a regular room per night. The suite was two-rooms large and had extra amenities like a whirl-pool tub and little kitchenette but the amenities didn't work. The jets on the tub didn't work and there weren't any dishes to use for cooking. When we purchased some dishes to use — the cooktop didn't work. It was all for show. We basically had a giant room with a fridge, which is why it's easy to believe they have zero problems charging a regular room rate for a suite.

Our stay was with a block of rooms for a wedding we were part of. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but we had two main complaints about our stay. The first, when we arrived to our room, it smelled terrible, and there was a black moldy half of a pizza that was left in the room from a previous customer. Luckily, after we found it, threw it out, and left the door open for awhile, the smell went away. The second complaint was that we had called down to the front desk a few times that night trying to find out when check out was the next morning, but we never got an answer. We then went down to the front desk, and waited around for nearly 20 minutes with no one ever coming out to see what we needed. I don't know where they were, but we finally just gave up and left to go back to the room. Other than that, there was nothing wrong with the stay.

The bed was lumpy and the room was not cleaned. They did partial renovations but skimped on the most important things… the bed and bathroom.

This place gets two stars because of the low price, otherwise it would get only one. Walls are thin and you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. There are train tracks right next to the building and they roar past about twice an hour. There is cable TV, but barely. 17 total channels. So you watch what they picked out for you. Of those 17 there are 4 liberal news channels. And the internet is pretty much useless. Repeatedly boots me off and I have to sign in again. Incredibly slow. My dial-up in the late 90's was faster. Best to spend a few more dollars for better quality.

I'm giving 5 stars because people there treated me well. It's a nice place I must say this is not a 5 stars luxury hotel but it acomplishes its purpose as a hotel. Food is good but it could always be better.

Was able to check in early and fast, the room was clean and comfortable. Pool looked nice but I didn't have time to use it.

We stayed 3 nights — room was clean, location was convenient for us and we never heard any noise from others. It was early spring so we didn't check out the pool area. Coffee in the lobby was nice. Desk clerk was nice and helpful. Will definitely stay again when we go back to that area.

Good cozy beds. Reasonable rates. I'll give it 4 starts because the pool area was overcrowded with kids. There should be a limit set on how many people are in the pool and require adult supervision.

Stood a week, great spot and fair prices. I couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi though.

My husband and I chose this hotel to stay at for a week and a half while we were in the area for a business trip. The kitchenette suite perfectly suited our needs. My husband was working nights and the bedroom part of the suite was separate from the living area behind a separate door so he could sleep during the day while I tended to the baby. Honestly, this was probably bigger than some apartments I've rented! The bed was comfortable, the pool was clean, the staff was accommodating and helpful. The grounds, while they could use some updating, were well maintained. My only complaint was that the carpeting in the room was disgusting. You couldn't walk around without shoes unless you wanted BLACK feet. All in all, I would recommend it to others.

Spacious suites but the hotel is a bit dated.

Hotel exterior is kept fairly up-to-date. Free Wi-Fi, and a smaller continental breakfast. Located next to train tracks, which receive steady use 24/7. Met my expectations for a value-priced hotel/motel.

Trains, Trains Train= noise, noise, noise! Not clean, smells funny, kitchenette is a joke and filthy, everything doesn't have to reminds me that I am in a college town. My kids wanted to travel back home. Not good.

It's close to the university, and the bed is comfortable.

Came across an advertisement about a clothing sale, the ad looked good and was being hels at this hotel. After arriving and entering the ball room where the sale was going on I noticed most of the items were somewhat organized; however I was there looking for a couple of particular items that were advertized. After looking thru several tables of jeans I was unable to find a brand that was advertized to be there, also asked the two cashiers and was told "there back there on the tables". I on a whim suggested that well "maybe these should be sortted out from the rest so they can be found", the response I got back was very. Well nonshalant " we will make sure we do that next time", very much came off to me like a ; well whatever kind of response. I must say the way the three men that where running the sale came off was very rude and they didnt seem to care at all! My recomdation is that Best Western needs to oversee events like this and take a walk thru before allowing the sale to be opened to the public, as something like this being run in a deceptive /poor fashion looks very bad on the host hotel. this sale was held on oct 24 2013;. As far as the quality of the items there I must say they didn't look much better than what one would find at a thirft store or a flea market as far as the jeans go.

I own a business in downtown Dekalb, I had a client come to town from Florida who I wanted to sell jewelry to wholesale. His flight got in late so I called and booked a room and told the operater on the phone how important it was that evrery thing go perfect for his visit. She told me not to worry. When I brought him in to check in the girl at the desk acted as if she knew who he was and talked to him like an ambassador. When we got to the room, he was like wow! it was 2 rooms and it was really nice. He told me you also gave him a late check out so we could finish our business. I want to say thank you and because of the treatment you gave him, I was able to make a big order with this client.

Stayed here for 5 days out of a week long trip in Illinois. Stay at a red roof the first 2 nights and there was no comparison. Yes, the train runs behind one of the buildings, but its a very low frequency sound thats actually soothing. They dont blow the horns through the entire town because its a 'No Blow Zone". The service was excellent. They brought towels and toiletries in the middle of the night. My plane didnt leave until six my last day there and they were very understanding with me being there 5 hours past check out time. Everything was clean, big bathtub, and the bed was extremely comfortable.

The only reason I went with this hotel was because I had a wedding to attend and was coming from a far distance. When I had searched for other options, there didn't seem to be much. For the price (discounted $100.00), I was apauled upon entry into the room. The door barely shut properly, all the doors had the same design that seem like easy entry. The lighting, very dim and low. The TV and alarm clock were unplugged. The beds have an incline on them and sagging. Ironing board old. Airconditioner noisy. A train that goes by every once in a while. No refridgerator (I was expecting it for the price). No desk, but there is a round table. It feels dirty. Front desk was understaffed and no one answered when I tried calling. Its not very accessable convenient for elderly people or those with conditions. There's no drop off door at the lobby, but there is a wheel chair ramp. The only positives I can think of is location if you have an event and that my room was first floor with parking right outside.
