Red Carpet Inn North Chicago Hotel

Finally got into town for my sons naval graduation at 330am, saw a hotel sign showing 49.99 a night and they where open, awesome! NOT! Made us wait in the foyer then a gentleman finally comes out from the back and offers us 2 beds non smoking for 79.98 for 3 hours, seeing that our son graduates at 630am this morning. I said, no your sign says 49.99… his response that's for weekdays only… its a Thursday to Friday reseevation… he expected us to check out by 11am, and wouldn't honor there posted price. He stated again that it is a weekday pricing and its friday. be warned!

Do not stay here it should be blacklisted! Family members of military graduations: your Military graduates were told not to go to this hotel it is blacklisted. You will wake up when the bars close because other guest party in the parking lot & in rooms, management is not going to stop it. The towel smells like cigarettes. The bed was uncomfortable. The room was grungy. I was afraid someone was going to brake in to my car while I slept. There was no coffee in the morning. There was no free continental breakfast. They did not tell me this one I booked it. I did not get a military discount when I booked it, since I was active duty. Don't stay here!

The price is cheap and it's as close as you're going to find near the naval base. Restaurants and gas nearby. Very friendly staff. Clean rooms. We had a blown bulb. They fixed it right away. It isn't fancy but it serves it's purpose. We rented 2 rooms for 2 nights and requested them to be close. We were as far apart as possible. That was disappointing. One room was fine, the other not so good. However, the next day, a woman who works there noticed our Navy son and immediately had us moved to a better room. She said these rooms (not so good ones) aren't for the military visitors.

I did not have a pleasant experience here. Did not have much time to sleep and people were loud when I went to bed and still when I awoke. Would not recommend for busy a busy trip. Slept with TV on to drown out other rooms.

I was very unsatisfied and this is the 1st time giving a rating this low. I booked a reservation and I was so displeased with the room that I wanted a refund but was advised that there was a "$78" cancellation fee and really considered paying it and leaving. The location was in a great location in proximity to the Navy base for my son's bootcamp graduation so, I believe that may be why their rate are competitive with other hotels. My value would be $40 a night type place and I'll leave it at that. I could hear regular, non elevated, conversation of the room next to me so had to keep the TV on to drown out the sound. I was sleep by 12am and awaken by my allergies at 3:30am, due to the air quality in my no smoking room. But positive, because I hate totally bashing a place: I did not get bed bugs. Big plus. Do not recommend or will return.

Don't go there if you don't have to. I was charged as if I was at a La Quinta. The few groups I was with didn't have good AC, and it would stop working just blowing hot air (we had to complain). The only good thing was breakfast; just be sure to get it when it first comes out, so it's not lingering around.

I stayed here from 04/10 to 04/13. I didn't expect much given the low price, however my expectations were surpassed. Each day when arriving back to my room I found that towels had been restocked and the room had been cleaned again. Staff is friendly and does their job. Some things to note would be the ciggarette burn on the comforter, it is off putting and shouldn't be used anymore. Second, there was a roudy group of people yelling outside of the hotel for about an hour at around 3a. M. Not the hotel's fault, but they should have been told to quiet down.

They're always working to update and maintain the rooms, so a room that was run down last time may be just fine this time. Free breakfast and Wi-Fi.

Stayed here for my son's graduation for the Navy. Its close to the base. You have easy access to a variety of places to eat. Rooms were ok, AC Wi-Fi, good. TV reception poor, but were not there to watch much. Service was good. It served the purpose for what we needed. No Bed bugs no Roaches! Not bad for an older Inn.

On the plus side close to basic training graduation. Our room was grungy, biggest let down is NO COFFEE or continental breakfast except on Friday, Saturday, Sunday starting at 6am… Staff was pleasant, but nothing exceptional. Hotel is obviously old. Mattress and pillows are well worn, cleaning could use serious attention, although we can say they appear to be free of bed bugs… I just can't bring myself to recommend it. Found coffee at nearby convenience store.

Had to stay here for a month… Not terrible, but the place is a bit run down, we had roaches in our room one night, and the internet here is utterly useless… 30 days, and we never had reliable internet! Also the walls are super thin, and people staying here seem weirdly loud? Not the hotel's fault, but it is what it is.

Do not let the price fool you. We had arrived for our sons Navy graduation in October 2017. When we checked in the first room we found roaches on the walls and ceiling We went back to the office and was told they had just sprayed out side so bugs have been coming in. We are given an upgrade to room with a loft and 10 minutes later we have been asked to leave because the shower does not work. Off to room This one we unpack again and see all bedding has cigarette burn holes Dirty bathroom towels and noticed small curly hairs on sheets? By this time my kids moved to the car to sleep. Off to room More Roaches. Back to room Management offered to change sheets only ti give us bedding in much worse condition. Next time I need a place to go it will be a tent. Surprised the health department has not inspected this place and shut it down. Had to leave 1 star to post this review my case is 0 stars.

Way better than what I expected and very good for the price. Rooms were very clean and the beds were comfy. Even had a little soap and shampoo in the bathroom. I had a problem with my key card so u took it too the front desk and they fixed it within seconds.

Not too terrible. Cheap, and super close to base for anyone staying for graduation like I did. Would’ve liked better quality blankets and sheets. And a warmer room. Found 3 roaches in my room so I wasnt pleased about that, but I killed them and had none after that. Was a pain to check all of my stuff after finding them though. Nice staff and good restaurant across the street.

I liked staying here because it was quaint yet quiet, the rooms are clean and comfortable too. I wasn't a fan of the breakfast but hey, it's an inn and at least they provided breakfast (yes, I wanted a hot cup of tea instead of coffee). I would definitely stay there again because budget wise, it can definitely help with that.

I visited a few times because people I knew were staying here, but I wouldn't book a night for myself. It's affordable, has a pool, and a restaurant on premises. The restaurant has large portions for great pricing and the food wasn't bad. The crowd wandering the hotel and even inside the restaurant weren't too great. That alone would make me uncomfortable spending a night here. I can understand why sailors are advised against being here. Rooms: The bathrooms are extremely cramped. You really have to squeeze to get in there and close the door. The bedsheets were burned through in multiple places and the main light in one room wasn't functional. The lamps all over the room fortunately worked. I didn't notice any bedbugs or roaches, but I wouldn't doubt their presence in other rooms. If you're looking for a very last minute and affordable place because Navy Lodge is full, take a risk or keep looking.

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Evidence of previous bed bug infestations, roaches, other unidentified bugs, bed sheets were thin and burned by cigarette ash, unclean bathroom, hookers and heroine addicts outside trying to talk to you. The breakfast is lukewarm coffee and stale pastries, there is cereal but you must use your own plate or use the provided cups (very small). Came here for navy graduation. Only upsides are Fridge, freezer, microwave in a cheap two bed room. TV is an old tube, regular telephone, that's it.

This is a nice place. I loved the staff Eurma, Gabby and Liz. They were very polite and helpful. The room was nice. It was clean and very comfortable. I'm glad I choose this place.

My family stayed there and it was the best I have stayed in in a while. It was clean and the desk ppl, housekeepers were friendly down to earth ppl who made our stay there comfortable. Riding 12+ hrs to arrive to a place that was comfortable was really what we needed. Thanks again to the staff who worked 8/25/17 & 8/26/17.

Ask for king room was given two bed then he switch when I ask him to and he gave me a room where people smoke. By the way I ask for non-smoking. The bedding had smoke holes and looked to old. Was my first night here and last never coming back.

HORRIBLE! If you are coming for Navy graduation don't come here! This place is so not clean. Spider webs on stairs. Freeze down stairs while up stair's stays hot. Burn holes in sheets. Person next to us had bed bugs. And our daughter was briefed not to come into Red Carpet Inn. I see why! Coffee never ready in morning. Have to wait forever for towel's to be clean before you can get new ones then you only get 4 not original 6. We ran out of toilet paper and was told closet had been locked and she could not get us any! So we had to buy our own. There are 2 other hotels close to base I would stay there. And before I booked I looked at pics I seen on other sites of this place it was scary but when I called she said it's been under new management. Well it looks like the horror pics I found and not the ones on there website. We had 20 ppl there for my daughter graduation and all there rooms was just not maintained or actually cleaned. And my x-husband room had 2 inch gap above his door to room. And their sheets was so bad they had to go out and buy sheets and blankets and pillows because of the stains. I didn't listen to the reviews I hope who reads this actually does.

Hello I stayed here for my sons graduation. Location was great! I loved the friendliness of the staff and how I was treated as a guest. I give it 3 stars only due to the cleanness of the room. We did get fresh towels everyday. But the housekeeping could use an upgrade on how to clean. The curtains or drapes where half hanging and you could see in my room upstairs, (we rented the family loft) which I did love! The pool was great and the kids loved it! The free continental breakfast was ok. Over all I would use them again and would recommend them.

I recently stayed at this hotel: as I was visiting my sailor: The room was overall clean, not updated which for the price would make since. We took advantage of the continental breakfast, which was good. I loved the location and that the room was clean and service was very accommodating and helpful. I had a king size bed, room, lots of space. The location was in between the two main roads, near gas stations and restaurants, and 3 minutes from the base. I am giving this three stars as the bathroom door had a small hole in it and there was a tear on the top blanket. Again thou for the price I would absolutely stay here again, it was clean, friendly and convenient.

Hotel is decent. Outdated, but has Wi-Fi and a pool. Rooms somewhat falling apart, but overall fairly clean. Room had a bad smell when we arrived, but it quickly dissipated. For the price, not as bad as other reviews made it seem.

I would say this is not the best motel, but I really did enjoy it. My suite smell beautiful, comfortable king size bed, clean towels, housekeeping was great and the staff was very helpful and very friendly with us! Thank You Red Carpet Inn!

If I could rate it less than 1 I would. We had booked a room for an extended stay. The rooms were horrible. They were not maintained. There were ants everywhere and the piping beneath the sink kept leaking all of the floor. Also, the tub drain was clogged and would not drain properly. I went in and told the front desk about the quality of the room we were staying in and they said "well if it's so bad then why are you still here"! I could not believe the horrible customer service! The only reason we stayed was because we had already paid for the stay and they told us that they could not refund it. We will NEVER be back again!

We came here for my son's Navy Graduation. Staff was pleasant. Lobby was dirty. Shady people on property. The room was dirty. Refrigerator, toilet seat, shower tub, carpet, tables, mirror, and television were not cleaned. Our beddings weren't changed they were still from previous guest. There were hair and who knows what on them. I asked for room service but did NOT receive any except for towels. I was extremely disappointed. I will never stay at this hotel ever again! I will never recommend this place to anyone!

I really wish I would've known that before I booked my stay here. I came from san diego. And was very upset this place was even on the pamphlet! couldn't spend time with my sister at our hotel because they are not allowed here! p. S the cab driver nick that they recommend tried to rob me of a ride back to airport. Called him 4 times before his "wife" answered my call and said he "forgot" his phone oh and he has a "bad back" so he will not help u load ur luggage onto the car! save ur money don't stay here!

TERRIBLE! First of all I was overpriced Second when I got to the room I was disappointed! Mostly with the toilet and bedsheets! Then when it was time to go to bed so I could wake up early to hit the road to go back to New York, it's like there was a party over my damn head! Their other guest had music playing loud as hell! Running up and down in the room above and what not! my baby husband and I got no sleep at all! I think they should work on equal opportunity for every one! I was furious I will NEVER come back to this red carpet bullshit Even if it was the last resort!

I had low expectations that weren't even met for this place. The man working most of the time came off as rude. The rooms surprisingly "appear" clean. Thankfully the room was some what updated (very sloppily though). I had to fix he curtains hanging from the window and the shower curtain which irritated me. The curtain on the window had a hair clip holding them together which was ghetto. Don't hold your breath on the hair blow dryer "on request. " Asked every day if they had one and was told "no" then came to find one behind the counter when I checked out. The shuttle to the Navy Base a graduation went fine. Once we arrived back to the hotel afterwards, the driver said the hotel should have said there was a fee for the drive back and wanted $10, which was bull. The pool wasn't unusable, half full, green, and a big object in the middle. Breakfast was even more ghetto than the hair clip, and became even more limited as the mornings pasted, so don't count on it. And on top of everything, it turned out that this hotel was off limits to Sailors but was given a pass since we didn't know better. Honestly, I suggest the Navy Lodge. Look it up. I wish I found it before I booked this hole in the wall.

After looking at the reviews for this place, I was skeptical, but so far so good. Sure, the place needs some TLC in some areas (toilet should be bigger, showers updated, New furniture needs to be bought). But it's super close to where I need to be, the beds are comfy, and I'm glad that they at least updated the bed sheets. They're not those ugly paisley ones. The walls are indeed paper thin, though. They aren't sound proof at all. Everything can be heard! e v e r y t h I n g!

The room was nice and orderly. Check in and check out was quick and easy. Furniture mismatched but overall feel of the room was quaint and cozy.

Horrible horrible horrible! nothing works. NO Wi-Fi. Workers don't care enough. Broken promises. Bathroom working when we first got there. Now it's not working. Smh I want my dam Internet or TV not just watching four walls.
