The lady at front desk answered the phone like it was her home not heb and was very rude to me when they hotel is a dump never never stay there there aremany other nice cheap hotel/motels in springfield, il that value their customer and there work.

We were told it was a non smoking room yet it smelled like an ashtray. Lamps broken, no maintenance man. At exactly 10:59am a very loud and rude man is banging on the door yelling that we need to check out immediately. No ma'am!

Had roaches in room. Found other dead insects. Had stains on carpet and cobwebs in corners. Room was not thoroughly cleaned. Front desk used excuse they were training new staff. This is not acceptable. Manager should have checked room after staff cleaned the room. We also found some kind of pill under the sink. The outside of the hotel was also in a State of disrepair. I believe I should get a refund of my money.

I would have given it ZERO stars if that was a choice. I had a list of 10 problems with my first room like no sheets on bed, cigar package in waste basket and dirty toilet etc. The worst was when they charged me an extra $25 a day later after I checked out and they couldn't confirm what it was for. They were taking guesses like maybe breakfast in my room. Then they continued taking guesses all of which were not true. After several calls to the motel, the girls I talked to said only the manager could reverse the charges. The manager is seldom there and I left 3 messages for him to call me back and he has never returned my calls. He finally told the girl at the desk he is fine with me disputing the extra $25 charge with my credit card company which I did. I believe the extra $25 is fraud and my credit card company is pursuing it on that basis. I highly recommend that no one stay in this hotel.

Very clean, decent place to stay for the price. The free breakfast doesn't have very many options but enough to not have to travel off property to eat. However, you are not allowed to take breakfast back to your room to eat which was disappointing to me. My only big complaint is the comfort of the bed. The bed was so hard that I woke up all night long in pain. It was not much softer then sleeping on the floor. Maybe some rooms have better beds then the one I stayed in but the bed we had was very uncomfortable.

I have never stayed in such a dump! We get there get checked in, the clerk looked more like a guest not a employee, get to our room and used the bathroom, went to flush and no running water to the stole. Ok we call the front desk and get different room, walked down to the desk and clerk laughed and said here's new room. 2nd room went to take shower ended up standing in 6inchs of water. I was going to inform front desk but was running late for appointment and was going to stop in after I returned. Now this is where the real BS starts, we return to our room and our key wouldn't work, so went back to front desk, come to find out, they had locked us out of our room because of a review I wrote and wouldn't let me back in till I took the review down, then threatened me saying she was calling the police on me because of the review! The clerk was yelling at me and being very unprofessional. I took the review down got our keys and went back to room, packed everything up and checked out, they said they couldn't check us out till manager was there, we left and I tried calling the manager but they kept saying the manager wasn't there! Nobody should have to go through all this and that clerk wearing the short shorts shouldn't be working there! She looked like she should be on a street corner! The city should really close this place down, the lighting is very dim, some stairwells have no lighting, paint chipping off the walls, fixtures coming off the walls, its disgusting!

It is the most disgusting place in Springfield dont stay there. First room no water couldn't flush toilet, changed rooms took shower stood in a foot of water didn't drain, said something to Clerk she laughed. Derek did review they locked us out of our room and threatened to call police until he took down his review. Finally was able to get in our room so we decided to pack up and go elsewhere. Very unprofessional and very dirty, totally disgusting for being the mansion view with no view. Please dont stay there.

Good for the price, great staff and wonderful to walk around to enjoy the city.

Not a great hotel/motel. Front desk less than helpful. “Can I get bottle water? ” … “we have water that comes from the tap”… nice response! “What’s a good restaurant? ”… ”the one next door is excellent, highly recommended, but it’s closed” … any others? … no, I don’t go out to restaurants… really!

NEVER EVER, NEVER STAY HERE! They are liars and thieves! They kept my credit card and never made any effort to return it to me then they called me a liar and said I it was all my fault that they kept it. The fruit at the free breakfast was rotten and the breakfast was truly disgusting. NEVER STAY HERE! The customer service is deplorable and the amenities are abysmal.

The heater was broke. It was a low of 23° that night. The place was maybe 1/4 full. I when down to the office to ask for another room. I was told that was the room I rented and they could not give me a different one. Instead she hands me a small space heater (one you would put under your desk at work). WHAT A JOKE! We ended up booking another room at a much more upscale place. Staff here is rude a inconsiderate. Would not recommend staying here!

Old and dingy, but good location. "Breakfast" consisted of a pot of coffee, but no cups and instant oatmeal and tea bags, but no hot water.

No warm water this morning. They did have it fixed by the time I returned in the afternoon. If you are looking for a cheap place, it will probably do, but I can't rate it better than just barely adequate.

Dingey and basic accommodations, difficult to determine feather vs foam, HVAC was a bit noisy, but value for price and.

Had a good ole crack party up in there… it was a BLAST! LMFAO.

The ppl at the frunt desk don't really seem to understand things you say over the phone, so if that gets to you like it did me… it would be best to go through an agent to book a room. It's an ok place I would go back if I had no choice, but if I had a choice I really wouldn't.

Train outside of our window passing in day and night! We change 3 rooms because in each one was some problems. Poor breakfast no normal coffee and creamer, no cold water. Bed Wi-Fi connection on upper floors. Staff wery friendly, big clean rooms.

NO STARS AT ALL! Absolutely gross! Doors need to be slammed to close! Stains and burn marks all over the carpet! Hair, nail trimmings, food crumbs and dead cockroaches on the wall and bed edges! Old urine around the toilet! And don't get me started on the train that passes every 10 minutes! HOW IS THIS PLACE EVEN ALLOWED TO BE OPEN IS BEYOND ME!

I selected this hotel solely on it's proximity to my job site. The room was clean, no bugs, and hotel needs to be updated on outside. What I forgot is that if it's close to the station — it's close to the trains! 11pm-8am there were several loud trains. If you are sound sleeper you will not have an issue, just ask for room away from facing the tracks. I left before breakfast, can't comment on it. The front desk let me check in at 1p. M. Friendly staff just hard to understand.

If it's a LAST RESORT Situation, then I guess it would be ok! But rooms are dirty, very dated, and lots of dead bugs. Front Desk will demand a $100 Cash Deposit. And you will have to fight for your money back. Just because this is across the street from the Governers Mansion does not make it nice. Don't be fooled by the websites and pictures THIS IS NOT A BOUTIQUE HOTEL.

Basic but clean and roomy. Felt safe and it's right down the street from the capital building. Not sure if PRICEline dropped the ball or if the hotel did, but our reservation was lost somewhere on a day that there were no rooms anywhere for 100 miles.

We have been very happy with Mansion View Inn and Suites. Perfect location. Governors Mansion in front of Inn. Walking distance to Downtown Historic Sites. And, the rates are the best in the area!

Fresh blood stain on mattress, seen because sheets didn't fit bed and came off the mattress. Internet was sporadic. Deteriorating condom rings on bed post. Had to wait over 4 hours after check in to get our room.

I selected this hotel solely on it's proximity to the Amtrak station. What I forgot is that if it's close to the station — it's close to the trains! 6am-8am there were three loud trains (thankfully none after midnight when I checked in. ) The hotel was probably lovely in it's time — the rooms have door KEYS with a digital lock circa 1990 — but hasn't had the renovations of the bathroom it so desperately needs. I liked the antique beds and the furniture — but the bathroom needed so much TLC (needs updating on the tile and plumbing and surprisingly no complimentary soap, shampoo or conditioner) although all the other room amenities were available including a free continental breakfast. Free parking was also nice for downtown Springfield.

It was dirty, run down, and overall, kinda sketchy.

Google says indoor pool. There is not one. King mini suite with living room is really tiny.

Microwave was ancient, dirty, and broken. Otherwise it was very clean and basic. Well maintained for how old everything was.

Nice economy hotel. Clean rooms. Close to local historic attractions.

Not a very bad motel. Cheap, good location, free Wi-Fi, room acceptable. I don't know why they didn't put the microwave, instead of the iron…

STOOOOOOP! If you want to sleep immediately leave this place. A night we had… the hotel has 50 years and never saw a few renovations either. All apart. We have could not even take a shower because the top prennai a neighbour and water coulai by the light of our shower. The train passes two meters from our head (photos has the support) and through the town honking as a patient at midnight 2 h 4 h 5 h 6 h… short pull you rather a shot in the foot.

Never again. Will camp out instead.

My visit at Mansion View Inn was born out of a rough situation but the staff was more than helpful in my accommodations above and beyond what would be expected. The facilities are older but even as I am here there are updates being done across the courtyard. From what I can tell, the location is near many places a tourist may wish to visit so that is another plus. Overall a good place to stay if you find yourself in need of losing in Springfield.

As soon as I saw the employees I knew this place would be a dump. The toilet seat was smaller than the toilet, not to mention it had pubic hair, I was grossed out. Don't check in with family place is unsafe.

Very helpful staff. The room I had smelled musty, but it was clean, orderly, and cheap. Exactly what I wanted. Not five star, but good location. No pool. Strong three star. Low four star.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the manager at the desk on the evening of April 17, 2009 as we called from the highway hours before our approach to Springfield and he was VERY nice and CAREFULLY gave us directions to enter Springfield, and, an easy approach to the Inn. The sheets and room were clean and we liked being within walking distance of the local attractions. Also, breakfast room was well stocked with variety plus cold items were refrigerated. We liked the price! THANK YOU, again, to the gentleman on duty that night.

The motel was cheap, the service very poor and all the rooms are accessed from the outside. Our room was very hot, the bathroom was very dirty, the carpet was stained, the bed was lumpy and sagging in the middle. I would never recommend this motel to anyone and will never stay here again. Very poor motel.
