There was a time when the name Kimpton meant that you'd have a 5-star stay, but that no longer seems to be the case. It's still a great hotel, but not what it once was… And it's just little things, small attentions to detail such as: we requested 3 extra pillows, but 2 were delivered, and the ice bucket didn't contain a plastic liner bag, and the hallway outside our room was being vacuumed at 8 AM. There's also better areas to stay in, this area is dead after 11PM. The staff was nice, but we'll likely stay elsewhere in the future.

I loved staying at the Kimpton Hotel Allegro while in Chicago for business! It’s in a great location in the theater district, surrounded by lots of restaurants and bars, and super close to the train station which made navigating from the airport effortless. The rooms are clean and sleek and the mini bar is stocked with anything you might crave. The best part is the happy hour prosecco every night and the free bicycle rentals. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in town.

Very nice hotel with comfortable beds and a lovely hotel bar. The elevators are really slow in the morning with everyone coming down for free coffee in the lobby, but other than that no real complaints. Workout facility is small, but has everything you need for a good work out. There is a restaurant connected to the hotel (312 Chicago) which is really good. Rooms are a little small, but have a European feel to them if you have traveled abroad.

Beautiful lobby that respects the original building bringing a touch of comfortable modernity. Good location at the very center of the city. Unfortunately this is not compensating the very small rooms and the need of an overall refreshment.

The hotel is stunning. From the moment you walk in you feel enveloped in luxury. The staff is all exceptionally friendly and helpful and there's even a (free) wine hour in the lobby. Our room was comfortable and clean though slightly small. My only actual complaint is that they advertised having bikes available for guest use, but when I inquired, I was told they're not available because they're out for service. Considering it's May and the weather is beautiful (only a few months of biking weather in Chicago), this seemed like terribly poor planning.

Let me preface this by saying I'm an engineer that values function over form. This hotel is in the theatre district so a collision isn't unexpected. First the pros: the in-house catered food for my conference was high quality; the melon slices actually had flavor! The staff is professional and friendly. The shower was great. The cons: the room decor is weird; you can't reach hotel staff from your in-room phone without going through several phone menus, even when using the "guest services" hot key; there's no real blanket on the bed so I had to crank up the heat in the room; the bathroom sink is terrible to use, though it looks cool. Again, more artsy people will like it more than I did.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful! You feel such a good vibe the moment you walk into the hotel! We got a room with a queen sized bed. Although the room was quite small, it was updated nicely and it was very enjoyable! Would definitely stay here again!

Very accommodating! This is a gorgeous hotel with beautiful lobby and lounge spaces, and most importantly very accommodating policies and staff. I was staying with my cat and was so thankful for how welcoming and thoughtful they were about your pets. They provide a door hanger that alerts staff that there is a pet in the room. I kept the privacy hanger on my door as well so that my kitty wouldn't be scared by housekeeping. I needed a late check-out in order to leave my cat in the room until my meetings were over. I was able to alert them during the booking online and they politely confirmed it when I checked at the desk. Anything I needed, they treated itwith friendly care. There was free champagne during happy hour in the lounge. The restaurant in the lobby/lounge was lovely with great service. The common spaces were beautiful. Rooms were very small, but there were more amenities than needed. I will definitely look for this hotel brand when traveling in the future, especially with my pet!

This hotel saved the day! First time in Chicago and due to a mistake, we were unable to stay at the place we booked. I called the hotel and explained the situation. The customer service here is outstanding! We were able to get an affordable room and had a great stay. I highly recommend this!

This hotel is beyond words. The design has captured it's Victorian beginnings into the roaring twenties in the newest upgrade. I could feel the good energy left here over many years. This is also the greenest hotel in the city with recycling and no excess plastic or paper. The staff is so kind and helpful. Sean and She's stand out. All staff were appreciative of the history. The mailbox is just pure fun. I have travelled extensively and the Allegro is now on my most memorable list. Highly recommended and thanks for a fun weekend.

Great prices for how upscale it makes you feel. The staff is super friendly. The room was kind of small but that's not a huge deal. Everything looked really nice. Would stay again. Also if you have to check out and have luggage they will store it for you free of charge.

Loved the art deco atmosphere here. Free wine every night is a big plus. The rooms were clean and well taken care of, and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel itself it interesting. The staff are kind and helpful. The only real complaint that I have is how small the rooms feel and how thin the walls are. You can clearly hear conversations happening in the next room. Otherwise, it's a neat place to stay.

I really enjoyed my stay. I bed was really comfortable and the room was well stocked with everything that my wife and I needed. I especially enjoyed the robes that they left in the room. The towels were nice and soft as well. The Allegro was located right in the Loop which was walking distance to alot of places.

We attended a wedding in the Walnut Room which was decorated beautifully. We had the Cavatappi pasta which was delicious. Everything was well appointed and the waitstaff was friendly and prompt. Definitely a great place for an event.

Maybe I was just unlucky, but my room was incredibly loud and noisy. I got close to all the activities in the next room. The heating/ventilation has rattled all night and the refrigerator has buzzed and geblubbert.
The location is very good. The room was clean.

Beautiful hotel, great location and very friendly staff. I was traveling for business and stayed at Allegro which I found really beautiful and with a high end finish. My room was cosy and kept very clean on daily basis. There is a cocktail bar in the lobby, as well as a restaurant right next to it which serves good food. Overall, I had a great time and I would book again at the next occasion.

The Allegro is situated in a sweet spot of downtown known as "the loop. " Because of the location, there's plenty to see and do that's within walking distance. The hotel itself is very nice. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating and the lobby area is just awesome. It's a beautiful space where guests are treated with amenities. If I had to give a critique, I'd say that the rooms can be modest in size. For those staying here for an extended period of time, some of the rooms have smaller closets and may leave something to be desired in terms of where to keep your clothes. The smaller rooms are great for folks on the run who may live out of their suitcases anyway while on travel! Overall, my stays at Allegro have been excellent. The location, convenience, and the quality of the staff will keep me coming back here for the foreseeable future.

Extremely aesthetically pleasing. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and accommodating. They thought of everything, right down to the umbrella in the closet. We enjoyed lounging with friends in one of the nooks in the living room. It was cozy, and much more inviting than an ordinary lobby. We were able to park kitty-corner (200 W. RANDOLPH) for an extremely affordable price on a parking-reservation website ahead of time. As if the theaters weren't enough to draw guests; this hotel is walking distance to anything anyone could need. The restaurant 312 had a unique flair on Italian cooking, but the staff is increfible. This hotel is suitable for a vacation, business-trip, or just a fun weekend downtown.

The afternoon started a tiny bit rough once we realized we were sharing a wall with the ice machine for our floor, which made an awful squealing noise when it refilled. However, a quick call to the front desk and they were more than happy to move us to a room with an even better view! The lobby and bar area are really nice and they had some great drinks available. Walking distance to quite a few good sites, restaurants, and bars. In a nice area and felt safe the whole trip. All at a reasonable price. I believe they're very dog friendly as well. I'd recommend this for your next Chicago stay!

Boutique hotel in Chicago's theater district. Well appointed albeit smallish rooms. Definitely a somewhat glamorous retro vibe. Nice meeting and conference spaces and services. All gender rest room in common or public areas. Free coffee and tea in the mornings and a wine reception in the late afternoon. Many amenities done tastefully. Very helpful staff.

Fabulous service with genuine hospitality. Great location near the "L", shopping, and coffee shops. Good restaurants within reasonable walking distance or short drive. Bathroom was on the small side but we made do. I'd return, especially since we found a great rate.

Nice atmosphere. Room was relatively small, bathroom was crammed into the room. Undersized tub. Faucet was not tall enough for the wash basin, could barely get a glass under it to full with water for drinking, and it was difficult to properly wash hands under it. One elevator was not working, causing long wait times for the elevators. Location was fantastic, close to the train station, and right next door to the Cadillac theater where we went to a show.

Location was very good. I was in town for training. The hotel is a gem. The staff was very accommodating. The rooms were very nice. The bathrooms were a good size. This building is an older Chicago building restored to an up scale hotel. I would stay again.

We were greeted by very friendly doormen and lobby staff. They got us checked in very quickly and gave us details on lobby drinks, snacks, and bar hours. The room was clean and tidy, albeit a little smaller than most chain hotel rooms. The bed was very comfortable, the TV nice and big, and the bathroom was very modern and nice. Water pressure in the shower was probably the best I've ever had in a hotel. We loved the 12:00 check out time. This allowed us plenty of time to load up in the morning. My only knock on the hotel is that you can hear things outside the room quite easily. For example, we could hear the shower running in the room above us. We could also faintly hear the people talking next door. Overall, we would stay here again in a heartbeat. The location is wonderful — close to restaurants, coffee, shops, and within walking distance of Grant Park.

It's got a very old time feel with a very new age look. The staff was nice. It was wedding season; so it was busy. The sleep, oh my god the sleep was amazing. Our room was pitch black. The bed was amazing, they provided a robe for the bathroom. It was great. We plan on being back for my birthday in 2 weeks.

I stayed at the Allegro for my brother's wedding at a nearby facility. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful/resourceful. I arrived there a little after 1 and was concerned about an early check in because check-in is at 3 p. M. When I went to the front desk and gave them my name for the reservation, I was given a hotel key immediately. The room was very clean and nice. I really loved the decor. Checkout was quick and painless as well. The staff is very efficient and I tip my hat to management. I would definitely recommend their hotel. I will definitely stay here the next time I am in Chicago.

Beautiful hotel. The perfect setting for a Bond movie. Art deco design. Great service. They even gave us a complimentary lint roller. However, the elevators are a little slow during the morning hours.

Beautiful hotel. Chic, comfortable, great location right down the street from the world famous Do-Rite Donuts. Best night of sleep I've had in a long time. Great water pressure, too.

The bartenders and staff are always amazing here they are what keeps me and my friends coming back. They used to offer food at the bar which was a good option after work or if we wanted to have a few drinks. Now there's no food and it's hurting the bar. Please bring back the food, it's safer for people to eat when they're drinking.

Living on the west coast it is difficult to create an environment that resembles the 1920s. But this place is really refine and alluring for the speakeasy feel. Great sevice and beautiful decor. I highly recommend going here for a delicious appetizer and drink!

Very nice hotel for the price, nice setting. From 5pm to 6pm, there is a pleasant reception with glass of Proseco (sparkling). The rooms, they are quite small, the bathroom is tiny, but it is largely enough for normal beings.
The staff is professional. The hotel is very well located in Chicago (close to the Clark Metro station) accessible by Metro from the airport in 35 minutes at a cost of $3 per person instead of $51 by shuttle, close to good restaurants and bars.
In addition, they lend bikes which is very convenient for this stroll in the city which is superb… really a favorite and I prefer Chicago in New York!
Ah I forget, from 8:00 to 10:00 there is also coffee and tea at will. Still a good idea that is nice… really if I come back to Chicago. Which is most likely. This will be my first choice!

Staying at Hotel Allegro was lovely. Rooms were nice and the location in the downtown area meant everything was on walking distance. Pillows and beds were soft. But walls were thin enough to here someone blow there nose in the nearby room. If you here to see the city, Hotel Allegro is a good place to stay.

Our stay here was great starting with arrival. When we arrived, we were helped at the curb with our luggage. The bellhop put it on a trolley and stored it for safe keeping until check in was complete and we had our room number. When my husband and I arrived to our room, the bellhop was already waiting with our luggage. We arrived a few minutes before 5:00, so we were able to enjoy the social hour in the lobby from 5-6. They served bubbly and infused water in their big, beautiful lobby. The room is just as beautiful as the lobby. It's not large, but it is clean and pleasant. There's no microwave, but the a. C. Worked well and quietly. There was a stocked mini fridge and snack drawer for purchase. The bed was very comfortable. Also, there was plenty of closet space for storage. We traveled with our dogs, and this place was truly pet friendly including a pet friendly restaurant patio. The only thing that would have been better would be a rooftop green space for pottying the dogs. We look forward to staying again with or without our dogs.

Well located near the Theater district and a few steps from the Millenium Park, nice décor and very attentive staff. Prefer the floors in height.

Great service except for when I asked for a straightening iron (took an hour). However I was surprised they even had straightening or curling irons for use while a guest! Loved the complimentary wine tasting Saturday afternoon. Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were small but clean. Something odd about the hotel was the first floor and lobby smelled like trash, but no trash was in sight. Overall still a pleasant stay.

Beautiful hotel — the decor in the lobby and the rooms is well thought out. The staff is very accommodating — we checked in early and checked out late because of our flight schedule for no extra cost. There's complimentary champagne in the lobby every night and complimentary coffee in the morning. The price was great, especially considering all the perks!

Room we got was extremely crammed, when you opened the front door you the restroom door wouldn't let you fit going on with all your luggage. Fridge is filled with what they offer and no space for you ; in case you decide to buy groceries. I do have to say the entrance is beautiful, and staff is very nice. Bed is extremely comfortable and pillows just make that better. Overall a very convenient place that is close to most attractions.

If you are on a budget, in my humble opinion, this is the best place to say in Union Square. The room, especially the bathroom, is small. If you know what you are getting into, then staying at Chancellor will not be an issue. Parking cost was $29 per day. This does not include valet, so expect to walk about half a block to the parking lot. We asked for a quieter back room on top floor and got it without any hassle. Everyone here is super friendly and really makes you feel at home. Be sure to stop by at the small bar in the lobby when Rory is working.

Upscale hotel, rooms were a bit small but considering the location it was pretty good. It was a bit confusing when I first got in, as you had to take the stairs or elevator to the lobby floor (not on ground floor). Close to the theatre district and to a variety of transit options (train, subway, etc) so easy to get around. They have coffee in the morning in the lobby, and drinks available for a happy hour, and a Starbucks attached on the ground floor (which is highly used during the day). Overall, since it was a work trip I would stay again.

Classy, great staff, clean and comfortable. In the heart of Chicago, Allegro is a nice upscale place to stay for business or a weekend getaway. Complimentary coffee in the morning and "wine hour" at night are nice bonuses. The rooms are on the small side, but well thought out.

Do not stay at the Hotel Allegro in Chicago if dependable internet access is important to you. I have an online business that involves teleconferencing with clients. During my stay, a router went down on my floor. After calling the front desk, I was put on hold and then transferred to the automated menu of their outsourced tech support. After 25 minutes on the line, the technician finally admitted that the hotel infrastructure was to blame (he tried very hard to pin the fault on me). I then tried to switch rooms in order to get to a floor with functioning internet, but the front desk staff was very rude — — they were curt and one of two of the staff even smirked at each other as I was pleading my case. Highly unprofessional. Ultimately, I lost business because I stayed at the Hotel Allegro in Chicago. I advise you to not make the same mistake.

I took my partner here for a surprise trip to Chicago as our engagement trip. The first couple of days went real smooth. The hotel was really clean and the staff were helpful when we forgot something at home. The beds were not all that comfortable. The evening we came back after I proposed to my fiance the room next to us was smoking pot. Our room was almost unbearable due to the smell. We called the front desk and they said that they would look into it but the smell went on for hours. At about 3:00-3:30 the same room began to scream and yell. We had to get up early the next morning to catch our flight back home. So on our last night when everything was supposed to go perfect after the proposal, went awful. The hotel staff took almost two hours until they finally kicked them out. They should have kicked them out after we reported them smoking pot.

This was my second stay here. First one was great I'd say 5 stars then. This time they mixed up part of our reservation packages. We had a suite with the 2 person tub which when we turned on was disgusting. It was throwing out an ash like substance and stained 2 washcloths. We attempted to clean it out 3 times before calling the front desk it just would not come clean. They moved us rooms but it was clear that no one attempted to clean that other tub out between the last guest and us. We arrived back the 2nd night from dinner and the package mixup still wasn't fixed we had to call down and get it sent to our new room. Also some of the staff at the front desk didn't seem to care about all this we were told "this happens sometimes" which didn't seem OK to me. First and second visit were just very different. Would have given 5 stars if the staff had made more of an attempt to care about the problems when they arose instead of handing them off to someone else. Hotel is great all in all. The design is beautiful and location is perfect for the places we go. 1 star was removed for the tub and the other because of the staff.

I recently stayed at the Allegro and I enjoyed myself. The rooms are a bit small, but they are cozy, clean, and decorated nicely. I was very comfortable. I also enjoyed the easy access to the subway especially since I chose not to rent a car during my stay. And the restaurant, 312 Chicago is absolutely delicious! I ate there both nights during my vacation. My only complainant is I wish they had some type of hot tub or indoor pool because that would've been very relaxing and I wish house keeping would've waited until noon before they started knocking on the door. When people are on vacation they typically don't wake up at 9:30, 10 am, especially if they've had a fun, late night out so please don't come knocking on the door at that time trying to clean a damn room! But other than that I really enjoyed myself and would most certainly stay again!

Nice little classy hotel. Comfortable bed, liked the robe, great location. The bathroom is tiny small. Small like you'll touch the shower curtain with your arm. You'll touch the towel rack when you brush your teeth. Also I was under the impression I'd get free cheese and wine at 5pm. There was wine, but no cheese. Where's the cheese?!

Great and the father is having bicycles to explore the city centre, to go to the Navy P. And to the Aquarium! Love Chicago!

It is excellent e to be in the heart of the city and travel to all parts of interest.
