Is a nice hotel, the staff is efficient and kind. The location is good, the beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. Also, the rooms are spacious, which is convenient if you are traveling on groups. Both restaurants in the lower level are pretty nice and they are not expensive. The only problem is that the hotel is old, that's easy to notice in the rooms.

Let's talk price point. If this wasn't in the heart of the loop, it would be a great hotel for $59 per night. But $185 per night is another story. So this review is based on spending two nights at $185 per night. The rooms are small but the beds are clean. The bathroom is relatively clean too, but small. No amenities except decent free Wi-Fi. The TV worked, but the signal was all garbled and unwatchable all weekend. Electrical plugs are not in a useful place for phone charging. Carpet has seen better days. The floor vending machine was out of every selection, but there is a Subway sandwich shop a block away. Checkout is even a bit earlier than other places at 11:00 am. At $59 per night, this would be a decent place. A ripoff for $180. Someone pulled the fire alarm at midnight too. Will not stay here again.

Place was the cheapest in the area the location was perfect. Rooms feel very dated and on the 2nd day I had practically no water pressure in the shower not a bad experience though. You get what you pay for.

Room was clean, water pressure and temp were good. Bed was ok not great. The place was a bit rundown and noisy and the curtains were short to accommodate the window a. C. Unit, so it was not completely dark at night. Lesson need ear plugs and an eye mask to get good sleep. The front desk was efficient and the location was good. The diner assoc w hotel was very good.

Good hotel, especially for the price in that area. Clean. Housekeeping did come to our room at 7:30am so be sure to put up your Do not disturb sign. Also, street noise is loud, so bring earplugs if you're sensitive to that.

Had booked this place in hurry. Very old hotel. Had to request room change twice for some or other issues. Old heating used to make scary sound. Though front desk guy was very patient and polite. Three star only because of him.

Room and the people was very nice. I suggest taking your own pillows. Theirs weren't very comfortable. Parking across the street wasn't bad. Overall it was nice and we'd stay there again.

Older building. Price and location can't be beat. Does have steam radiators for heat so you may hear the occasional bang and clang. Deep tub with really hot water but little in the way of water pressure. Really easy to get to places to eat.

Not the fanciest hotel you’ve ever been to but it suited our needs: something moderately priced but still within walking distance of all the fun things. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly and responsive. There’s no need to pay exorbitant prices for a room you’ll hardly see while you’re in town. This place is certainly a viable alternative.

A huge room with king bed, refrigerator and microwave. Probably best bang for your buck in downtown Chicago! It's an old building but appears to be well kept by the owners. Steam heat is awesome but a little noisy at times. Didn't bother me as I am a Steamfitter so I know this is normal. Fast elevators for such an old building too. Good restaurants right in the building + lots of others in the neighborhood. Close to the convention center too. Overall, a very good experience and zero buyers remorse!

A good compromise between quality and price. Gorgeous location in downtown Chicago. Rooms perhaps to be revised a bit in the furnishings, although clean, spacious and comfortable.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Excellent location.

When we first arrived and checked in they gave us a room that was occupied, and when I went back to the desk the man said that someone working before him checked the wrong person in under the wrong name. The lobby is a bit decieving, very stylish and up to date, but in the rooms you can tell it is a very old building with a dated structure. Overall it served its purpose for a place to stay while in Chicago for the weekend.

The hotel was quiet and no crazy party guests. Aside from being located in downtown Chicago and the cheapest hotel around, everything else was "meh" or below average. There was a dead roach on our windowsill. The hallways were narrow, old and smelled old. If you're looking to save money, this is the place. If you want amenities (fitness center/pool) and a nicer hotel, this isn't a good place for you to stay. Service was okay, didn't interact much with staff but the front desk did recommend an awesome breakfast place nearby (Yolk). Overall, if I had the extra money for a better hotel, I would choose a different hotel or airbnb.

We were given a room with one bed at first, when we asked for two. The people at the front desk were very happy and helpful to move us to a room with 2 beds. The room was clean and spacey, which was perfect for 2 people.

Rooms were a little small at first but when we asked they graciously upgraded us to a bigger room. We were here for St. Patrick's day and were within walking distance to wherever we wanted to go. One night we asked for advice on a dinner for nine and we got mixed results. Overall good stay in Chicago at the Travelodge!

Main floor was beautiful, the upper levels were outdated. Staff was good for us. Room was good, just outdated, but it did the job for a decent price. Can't complain on anything but the fact that the curtains didn't cover the light in the morning very good, waking my girlfriend and I earlier than we wished. Parking was literally right across the street so that's very nice.

It's in a good location, but the room is kind of musty and old looking. More importantly, while they have three elevators two have been broken since I arrived, making it an enormous pain in the neck to get from my 11th floor room to the ground floor. Everyone pushes the bottom and tries to hail the elevator but gets impatient and it just stops at every floor, which is very annoying and makes it take forever when you are waiting for the elevator to arrive.

An older building, but clean, priced right and near the places most visitors are going to in Chicago. The staff addressed our concerns. If you want fancy, go pay for a $300 a night hotel. If you want a clean room, good location, refrigerator and budget price, book this hotel.

If you're only staying maybe a day or so this hotel is okay. The bedding is outdated, the building is really old. It looks like it hasn't been updated in a while. You don't look forward to jumping into the bed at the end of the day. The hallways are VERY narrow and the elevators are small as well. They deceive you by the lobby but when you actually go into the room section, it's very outdated.

The Travelodge in Chicago is a very nice location. It's about a mile from the Field Museum, and the Aquarium but it's very easy to walk to both. Super close to the Art Institute and a little less than a mile from Cloud Gate (the Bean). It's a block from State street which has a bunch of shops and there are plenty of bus stops nearby as well. Basically if you can get to most of the iconic parts of Chicago by walking or taking a quick bus ride. The rooms themselves are a little older and beat up looking but overall clean and nice. The beds are pretty comfy and the air-conditioning works really well. The double room that I stayed in had a mini fridge, a good sized TV, a small desk, ironing board, and safe. There is $39 per day parking at a parking garage right across the street. The staff is very friendly and very helpful if you have any questions. However, it has TERRIBLE Wi-Fi, it's SUPER slow. But there is a Starbucks just around the corner. Overall a pretty nice hotel and not a terrible price for what you get.

A great experience being in the center of downtown Chicago. Obviously you're close to everything and only a short walk to whatever you want to desire in the city's culture. The staff is quite possibly the best I have ever encounter when traveling and staying at hotels. The one flaw, my room is closest to Wabash Avenue, where the CTA's elevated railway (CTA subway) is located a half-of-block from the hotel. Because trains run through there at all-hours — mainly the Green Line operating 24/7 (Orange and Pink Lines 5am-1am) — the constant bashing and friction from the aerial tracks is annoying; this is coming from a "transit enthusiast" by hobby. If you can get a room closest to Michigan Avenue's side, you're lucky and will have a quite peaceful experience. One minor addition, yeah the hot water took 'three minutes' to warm-up but I'm a maintenance worker and with the 30ºF wind chill that weekend, that was definitely the reason why, so don't go flying off the handle for that issues. I'll recommend coming here for the price and proximity.

Check-in was a disaster because they couldn't charge the credit card we used to book the room, and their machine declined every card we tried to pay with. Then we got up to our room and it was extremely small, with just enough room for the bed. Speaking of the bed, the pillows and bed itself were as hard as rocks. Oh, and the train goes by right outside the window every three minutes. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, in fact if anyone tells me they are staying in Chicago, I will make sure they don't stay here.

My two daughters and be stayed here for their Spring break. We're from St. Louis. This hotel was simple and clean. We stayed in a double bed (full size) room. It wasn't plenty of room for us but it was just right. The bathroom was just right. The hotel has had some updates to it. Two out of three elevators didn't work (out of service) it wasn't a big deal to us. This hotel is located near everything. We walked pretty much everywhere. Cab ride to some places only because my 10 and 6 year old was tired of walking with me. Lol. Cab ride was usually $7-$10. The price per night was $80. We stayed three nights. I will definitely stay at this hotel in the future. I do recommend this hotel to small families, couples and friends balling on a budget.

We where very pleased with size of our room deluxe double double the heating pipes where noisy but good heat.

Too noisy next to the aerian Metro. Pretty old-fashioned. Only advantage close to everything.

I came to Chicago for a conference and this hotel was reasonably priced and perfect for my needs. It was walking distance to Millennium Park, the lake, and many places to eat downtown. I did notice that the windows were not completely sealed, so some noise and air from outside got into the room, but it didn't bother me much because it was summer. The bed was nice and the room was plenty big, the bathroom was nice too. The elevators were old and slow, but again that didn't bother me much. I got a shuttle to the hotel from the O'Hare airport for $24. Not bad.

Great location within walking distance to attractions. No TV guilde in rooms or hair dryer. Only one elevator out of 3 seemed to work and it was very small and slow. There was a man operating one elevator which we used once. But then the next time he told us to use the other elevator probly because we didnt tip him the first time. Cheapest hotel in the area during our stay. Didny spend much time in the hotel but to sleep so it was a good deal for thr money.

Worse experience in a hotel downtown, thus far. Not only the hotel sucked but the staff, as well. Jessica one of the hotel clerks is extremely rude and disrespectful, she acted as if she did not like her job. The security guard Daryl (however you spell his name) looked as if he was just found and offered a job. I overheard him, using inappropriate language to other guests in the hotel. The room looked cheap. And the bathroom was terrible. The cleaning lady was in my personal business. It was a cheap hotel and I do not recommend anyone to spend their money here. I could not even enjoy my vacation because of this head aching place.
