My husband and I booked a stay at the Hyatt Place Savannah Airport hotel for November 6th-9th 2015. We are participants of the Savannah Rock 'N Roll Marathon. When we found out a friend and her husband were doing it as well, we chose to rent a house in historic downtown to be closer to the race event and to split costs. Friday, June 5th at 11:00am I called the Hyatt Place to cancel our reservation and spoke with a representative. She was female and did not give her name. When I told her my request she first responded by cutting me off and telling me I had to do it online. When I told her I had made the reservation through the Hyatt Website, she told me she could if I had made it with a credit card. When I asked her if I needed my CC# for the cancellation she said no. She struggled with pronouncing simple words and could not pronounce my husband's (Joel) name right. I made the call during a break at work and was surrounded by coworkers during this conversation. She then began rattling off my cancellation confirmation number without asking if I was prepared to write it down. I was not located at my desk nor near something to write with so I kindly interrupted and asked if I could be sent an email with my cancellation confirmation number. She then stated very abrupt and rudely (and I quote), "I was trying to give you the number when I was speaking. " I explained my predicament about not having a pen to write with and she then asked if I had an email on file. I stated I had put one in to book and she said she would check. The line went silent and I was conversing with a coworker when she abruptly came on the line and asked me if I was speaking about her. I was caught off guard and appalled that she would question my conversation with a coworker and assume I was speaking about her. I then expressed to her that my conversation at work was not pertaining to her and that all I needed was my reservation cancelled. She continued to question my about my conversation and I asked to be transferred to a manager. She then told me she would cancel my reservation and then hung up on me. I have not received an email of the cancellation. I am shocked to be treated in such a way. It was completely unprofessional. It was also a terrible representation of the hotel and staff/management there. I am shocked that such a person would be allowed to deal with clients on the phone. I have worked customer service for 6 years and have never imagined treating someone this way. I trust that something will be done so that another customer will not go through this kind of ordeal.
