Very helpful and if there is a problem they fix it.

I visited this resort with several golf buddies back in October. Enjoy so much that me and my wife have been back twice. Very inexpensive stay and play getaway. Hard working and friendly staff (Mike is the Man! ) Beautiful scenic views.

Absolutely recommend Kingwood for any skill level golfer! 10/10 for their golf course, bar & all around service! We were catered to every step of the way! We will be back to play again! I cannot forget to mention the amazing Mike, the bartender, Mike the cart boy, Mike the greens keeper, Mike the waiter & Mike the Manager! What a guy-great service.

Great resort! Golf course is in great shape and the rooms were nice and clean. Staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make sure that we were taken care of. We will definitely go back again!

I’m a owner there. All they have done is ignore my calls about their expensive dues. I never use their club. Buying property there was a big mistake. Stay away!

Was there on a father son golf trip with friends. Beautiful course with fantastic views.

Great staff. Accommodated a family of four where their was only two golfers. Clean. Clean rooms, clubhouse, pool, spa, sauna, etc. Clayton has excellent restaurants to be explored.

Very relaxing atmosphere and beautiful resort. We stayed at the Dillard House so I cannot say anything about the accommodations. However, the spa was very nice. We had access to the fitness center, pool, and hot tubs, sauna, and steam room for the entire day just for having spa services. Our massage therapist, April, was the best. She was great at targeting my trouble areas and keeping me in a total zen state. Definitely will be returning.

Fantastic! We celebrated our 10th Anniversary here in 2019. The grounds are splendid! It is VERY dog friendly which made us extremely happy. They shot fireworks right over the small lake in front! We will definitely be back!

The resort was so peaceful and breathtaking, and the staff was very friendly. A big shout out to Cherokee who made the stay that much more enjoyable. Will definitely be back.

Great weekend for a quick retreat. The golf course was well manicured and the scenery was stunning.

We stayed here for 3 nights, Wednesday thru Friday night. This is by far one of our best vacations to the area. Rooms were clean, grounds were well maintained, staff was very friendly, we didn't want to come home. Spa area was so beautiful, when we came in on the Wednesday night, there was hardly anyone checked in. We walked the grounds and discovered the indoor pool/spa. It was like we were the last people on earth out there, but this is something we love. I had the pool all to myself. Best time ever 11/10

We go every year an spend the new year night there. We have a grand ole time at the restaurant. The food is delish, the atmosphere is breathtaking. The mountains there keep the smog out. The golf course is well kept, and the staff there is very knowledgeable. I will be back to eat at restaurant really soon they have a new chef. Go you'll be glad you did.

The resort is dated (@40 years old) and could use updating and some TLC. Out room was clean but a little smelly. The restaurant is nice and the a la carte food excellent. Breakfast, however, is served in the lobby not the restaurant and you feel rushed because people are in and out and swirling around you while you try to eat. The food itself is served on styrofoam plates with plasticware and resembles at best the stale type continental breakfast you get at a cheap motel. Not at all acceptable for the price we paid. Some staff are very nice and accommodating (especially Gus, Glends and Mike really made us feel welcome) while most don’t really seem to care much about the guests. The massages were great but four different masks used for my daughter’s facial burned her skin and made it break out. Overall, too expensive for what you’re getting. We’ll look elsewhere next time.

We decided to make a mini vacation out of picking our son up from camp. We found Kingwood and stayed in a room in the Inn. We enjoyed the pool and the grounds. Beautiful place. We didn't golf so we can't speak about the course but it sure was busy so it must be great. The staff was over the top kind and friendly from our first call to make a reservation, to checking in, and out. Our room overlooked the pool. The beds were firm and comfortable. The room darkening curtains were the best. We slept until 9:00 am. We thought we had the place to ourselves because it was so quiet and were surprised to find a full parking lot when we went up to breakfast. We're hoping our son picks the same camp again next year so we can stay at Kingwood again, maybe longer next time.

Beautiful resort with great staff. The room had a balcony overlooking the pool area that was gorgeous. The property has hiking and waterfalls and was very quiet and peaceful.

I haven't enjoyed 2 days of golf quite as much in a long time! The golf course is beautiful and very well maintained. The staff was extremely accommodating… I couldn't ask for a better time!

Best hidden retreat in the southeast! Mark & Amanda are awesome & make guests feel like family. The spa services are impressive & priced competitively. The restaurant has wonderful food, and the prices are very reasonable. Rebecca & Summer go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. We've already booked another visit.

Beds are hard. TV small and not a full selection channels. The continental breakfast was the smallest I have had in a long time. No bacon, pancakes, waffles or muffins. For the cost of the stay 130. I don't think they did a good enough job. The staff was nice and friendly. The room was clean.

Quick guys golf trip from Augusta this weekend. We played 18 yesterday, got lunch at the restaurant (which was delicious), then played another 18 in the afternoon. We topped off the day by having the seafood buffet and it was amazingly good. The crab cakes were on point. We then hung out at the bar and just really enjoyed the atmosphere. Summer delivered awesome customer service while we at the restaurant. We had a great room overlooking the pool and spent some time out on the balcony prior to passing out for the night. We then came back out today played another 18 before having to come home and get back to reality. They course was in great shape and all of the staff we dealt with were super courteous. Can not wait to come back!

Had an awesome time and the staff was great. Summer gave awesome customer service and had a great personality! Course was in great shape!

I felt the course was fairly good but I wouldn't necessarily recommend going too far out of your way to play it. Although very pleasant, there was nothing startling attractive about the course or the local scenery and there are definitely a few goofy holes towards the end. Overall, the course had way too many doglegs and blind shots for my liking.

My only complaint was I was charged a resort fee and nothing was open… The club house closed, the restaurant closes until Wednesday or Thursday…, lounge closed… And I do not play golf but it must have been closed too because the shop was closed. Lol. But my room was very clean, with a nice view of the pool all covered. :) but seriously I will stay there again. Desk clerk checking in and out were very pleasant. And the price was equivalent to a Marriott off season.

Absolutely gorgeous and complete serenity. The property is constantly being updated and changes made for the better have been implemented each time I visit it gets better!

I went for a friends birthday weekend in one of the private cabins. We had the most amazing weekend! The cabin we stayed in had been immaculately cleaned. We were greeted with spectacular views from three different balconies. When we went to the resort's spa, it had an incredibly tranquil atmosphere. The pool was heated perfectly. When we walked to the restaurant after getting relaxed we were met with prompt, polite service. Our server/bar tender, Summer, was well informed and never left us waiting. We had to wait for the other half of our group and she never made us feel like a burden. She was quick with re-fills, smiles, and information for any question we had. Such excellent service is really what brings such quality to this adorably quaint resort. I can't wait to make this a yearly tradition and look for any excuse to come back! Wish I could rank higher.

The best place for a vacation. Gorgeous view of mountains and meadows from the room. I will come again for sure!

Stayed here for a conference and really enjoyed it! The staff was very friendly, food accommodations for the event was delicious! The newly remodeled restaurant area was bright and beautiful. We had a lovely room overlooking the out door pool area, played horse shoes and corn hole by the fire pits and listened to a great bluegrass band. I spent some time in the spa relaxing in the hot tub, sauna and steam room. The in door swimming pool was warm and everything was super clean. They had a lovely relaxation area and great spa treatments to take advantage of. I hope to be back and play a round or two of golf next time. Thanks for the great stay.

Upon checking in we were told we did not have the room we reserved. No phone call. They switched our room and took money off which is fine. The check-in Hostess was very lovely had great suggestions for restaurants in town. Overall Kingwood is outdated has a tremendous odor of deodorizer covering some kind of other wretched smell. Sitting on the porch outside with a Grand View of the mountains and the pool and the resort. The neighbors outside on the porches as well smoking cigarettes like nobody's business. Kind of ruins the atmosphere. The heat element on the pool was broken on our first night. Which was okay because we didn't get a chance to get in it anyway till the next day. Then was fixed and we found out that the jacuzzi and spa and sauna are separate for sexes. The men's room has one and the women's room has another. Separate jacuzzis separate saunas what is that about very dated. The pool was nice perfectly heated.

Beautiful views, we got lots of great pics. Tallulah Gorge was just 15 to 20 minutes away, nice waterfalls.

It's nice and clean, but getting time for a refresher. The shower in our room and another room were functional but not resort like. There was a nice view from our room, I would stay again, especially if we can get a discount. Our mandatory resort fee went for nothing, as we were only looking for a place to stay.

Nice room but just a continental breakfast. A light above the sink was not fixed even after 2 requests. We enjoyed walking in the cart paths up and down the hills.

Great mountain golf course close to so much to see and do, close to Atlanta, and the place is spectacular during Fall as the leaves change.

I played there literally on an impulse. After a 12 day road trip to Texas and back I had spent the last night in Franklin NC and was heading home. I was driving by the golf course around noon and saw the 12th fairway and a few other holes and couldn't resist. The ladies and gentlemen in the clubhouse were super nice and accommodating and got me right out. I absolutely loved the course. Beautifully conditioned and fun to play and so much so I played the front nine twice and would play there again in a heartbeat and plan to. Don't let the 6000 yards from the tips fool you as there are some extreme uphill shots so extra club (s) on some approaches are a must. The rates are fair for the quality of the course. No range which is fine as they have a nice net and free balls to at least get a few warm up swings in. Go play and enjoy…

Beautiful location and staff was very pleasant. Only complaints are they ran out of shampoo and they ran out of napkins for the Continental breakfast. The age of the resort shows in the bathroom. There was white duct tape on the floor of the tub to prevent slipping and you could see where they painted over mold around the top of the shower. All in all it was a nice resort and we would definitely stay again. Travelers take note: this is a small town and almost every restaurant (including the one at the resort) closes by 9. If you plan to arrive late, eat on the road.

Great little country club, not the Ritz nor 4 Seasons. But a nice place with 2 pools, with a great view of the blue ridge mountains. We'll be back. You have to visit all the water falls in this great country. Truly amazing over 40. You will fall in love with Clayton, GA.

An absolutely beautiful Golf Course. Ken from the Pro Shop went above and beyond, I definitely give him 5 stars! Restaurant was nice but could use some dusting, lots of cobwebs. The Waitresses weren't very attentive but nice. Rooms were nice, not excellent but not bad either. The spa looked lovely but we were turned off to the fact that couples we're not allowed in them. Struck us as very odd and old-fashioned. Who wants to go sit all alone in a hot tub?! Great get away, very relaxing. Noticed they were doing some renovations, like to see what they look like later.

While vacationing from VA we were using 2 Living Social vouchers for a 4 day stay. Staff was courteous, but we weren't notified that property improvements were in progress. Some noise, but some of that was also the neighbors. No issue sleeping. Noises were during the day time. Provided great massage. Appreciate the staff taking care of that experience. Really enjoyed exploring the Clayton GA area. Beautiful nature at Black Rock Mountain, as well as the drive around Lake Rabun with all the lake front homes in route to Angel Falls.

Normally I stay at Hampton Inn. This is comparable. Our room was clean and nice. Golf course I fantastic.

Please read. I trusted the overall ranging Google gave this (4.1 as of 4/2/16). None of the negative reviews are showing up in the overall ranking. All of the guests that rated this hotel low are SPOT ON. The word "resort" is a joke. What the hotel or reviews don't mention is that the rooms are accessible from the street. It's no better than a run down motel. We booked through Expedia, which thankfully helped us get a refund. We were knocked over by the smell in the room we were assigned. The person at the front desk did not seem surprised at all when we said we were not staying. Thankfully they let us back out. They most likely get that reaction frequently. I did not feel safe here.

I was intending to book with the spa trying to book a couples massage. The receptionist told me she would see if that was possible so she would call me the next day. I never received a call back, so I called two days later, no answer. Then I called the day after, no answer but left a voicemail. Called later that day and finally reached the same receptionist. I informed her that I just need an answer so I know how to proceed. She stated that she would call me back at the end of the day. Suprise suprise, no call back. I left a complaint at the front desk that was supposed to go to the general manager, but instead it went back to that same receptionist who called me back on Sunday with a huge attitude. I finally called the hotel to speak with the general manager, and he acted like it was appropriate for his employees to act in this way and didn't apologize for anything other than a delayed call back. He sounded rude, annoyed, and uninterested in his potential guest at the hotel. Needless to say, I never booked.

We found bed bugs in our room. We had to be moved into another room at the resort. We would've found other lodging but with it being a wedding weekend, we had no other choice. My husband had to see a doctor and get put on steroids to calm down the allergic reaction he had to the bites. I'm now going to have a hefty dry cleaning bill because all of our stuff and luggage must be dry cleaned. We are disappointed in our stay and would never go back. The front desk lady was nice about it but it truly ruined our weekend.

My wife booked a weekend getaway and I was nervous based upon earlier reviews. Was pleasantly surprised. Resort is actually a country club with lodging. Rooms were updated and equal to any hotel. Room was spacious with carpets, bedding, and bathroom all updated and clean. Plenty of hot water. Dining is what you would expect from a country club, not fancy but equal to any family restaurant. Dinner was fresh with good portions, professional service. Good bar. Breakfast buffet was basic but good. Spa/fitness center was good to use. Building dated but pool was big and very clean, water heated just right. Locker rooms were updated with good Jacuzzis, sauna and steam room. Weight room had more equipment than most hotels. Staff was friendly and helpful. Don't play golf but course looked maintained. Course was hilly but expected from a mountain course. Overall, for the price, well worth it; better than staying at a chain hotel. Will return.

We stayed at the resort for four nights and loved everything about it. The views, the short trail to the waterfall, the weather, the comfortable beds, and the wonderful breakfast each morning made for a memorable stay. We cannot say enough about the staff, ever so helpful and friendly. We truly loved it. It was our second time there and will be back. We had driven down from upstate NY and felt such relief when we arrived at the resort. We felt at home. The mountains offer peace and serenity and can be viewed from every spot at the resort. We do not golf but enjoyed watching the golfers get ready for the invitational that was taking place. A recent quote I read sums up how we feel about the Kingwood Resort, "as good as the best and better than the rest. "

I had a fantastic weekend stay! The whole staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in was very easy and my room was neat and clean. The restaurant and dining area were exquisite and the menu for dinner was impressive. The spa facilities were excellent, especially the hot tub and sauna room. I had a wonderful massage as well. The gym was also clean and had enough equipment for a comfortable weekend workout. The property was also suitable for long jogs/walks and not far from the town, which has Zeppelins (a must try Italian restaurant! ). Great weekend getaway!
