This nonsmoking hotel is our favorite on Sanibel. The rooms all have private screened patios. We enjoyed the beach, the free bikes (if you book direct), the sunny pool, and the pool bar.

Our stay here was perfect. The rooms were clean, quiet and included a screened-in porch to relax or just dry your beach gear. 🌊🐚—The beach was just a walk away. The beachfront was perfect; we were able to watch a couple of manatees swim by us each day. Shelling was everything I was hoping for. 😋 🦐🍹🎤— The resort had a great menu and the food was amazing. The live music each afternoon-evening was cool as we returned from our daily adventures. 🌅— One word: sunset. 😍

Great resort for families and a great location. Reasonably priced and great restaurants on the premises. Rooms were spacious and conforrtable with a mini-kitchenette. Wifi could be better. We’ll be back!

My husband took me there as a surprise for our 31st wedding anniversary! We had a garden room and it was very nice. Clean and right by the pool, pool bar, and access to the beach. We loved every minute of our stay. The people that work there are so nice and welcoming. The food at the Normandie was delicious and the waiters and waitresses are outstanding! We will definitely be back but next time I will bring the bug spray. I got bit by the noseeums 🥴. Another word is sand flies! They are itchy 😳. Other than those buggers, we had a wonderful time. Don’t forget to watch the sunsets and sunrises…. Breathtaking 💞. Have fun collecting the seashells! See you soon Sanibel Island 🌴🐚♥️

Everything. From the pool to the ocean. To the food and the staff, service is so helpful…. So fortunate to be able to enjoy my daughter and two granddaughters through this time of Covid 19 Pandemic 😷. We masked up and stayed our proper distance from other guests but didn’t ignore be able to have conversations with everyone.! It Brought some normality back into my life.

Was told if I booked direct there was no resort fee — I asked "so just the cost of room and tax"? Upon check out I had a "room charge for each night" so just be aware of charge! UK female showed me on her screen and print out stating this was a correct charge. SO if it is on her screen and print out it HAS to be correct… LOL "Just wish I would have been made aware up front as I do not believe in paying for the room AND the room charge". AND her statement "I will find ALL resorts on Sanibel is incorrect not ALL do" (I am a frequent visitor) All in all West Wind is "JUST OKAY"… I personally will not stay again due to my interaction with this one person. (but thats just me)

I had pleasant solo getaway in the West Wind Inn, very clean room, great room service. Enjoyed the pool and Upper Deck bar, live music. Beautiful views to the beach and spectacular sunsets.

Would recommend this to anyone who wants to truly unwind and relax. Came for a quick night getaway and had an amazing time. The bikes were really fun, the location and beach is beautiful. Although it was rainy, we didn't go swimming much, the pool was nice and plenty of room. Before we left, we watched multiple families of dolphins steps away from us for over an hour. Great place. Will be back for sure.

The West Wind has an amazing pool with plenty of chairs and umbrellas and the views of the Gulf are just spectacular.
The Upper Deck pool bar has great food and drink and wonderful staff. Server Linda is always friendly and makes a great smoothie.
The grounds on the property are kept nice and there always seems to be workers around doing a great job.
This was our 6th year staying at West Wind and we can't imagine staying anywhere else. A true gem of a property with top notch staff and service.

It is open to the public at the pool bar! That’s rare for Sanibel. I bike Sanibel often and found this small quiet resort near the bike path. Food was excellent and service was great! If you eat and drink, you can use the pool. It’s very quiet this time of year… perfect! Stayed for a sunset… gorgeous!

The property sits right off the gulf. The grounds and rooms are well kept. The staff is the best of the best.

It is a comfortable place… while not a luxury inn, serve and food excellent not to mention it is filled with families that have been going for years.

My girlfriend convinced me to drive all the way from coral gables to sanibel for a romantic getaway. I had no idea what to expect. The place is amazing and beyond my expectations, the staff is very professional and friendly, rooms are very nice, comfortable, well equipped with many amenities including coffee maker. There are even bicycles available for the guests and ample parking. I strongly recommend the west wind inn hotel and we will return soon.

Great location on the beach for sunrise and sunset. Didn't get to stay long enough to take advantage of the pool, bar or restaurant but hope to be back!

We had a great experience at West Wind Inn with my family for our anniversary. Good food and walking distance to everything.

Clean room and friendly staff. Only issue we had was the pool side bar closed at 8pm.

Perfect! The rooms were very clean and recently updated. The complimentary bikes and paddle boards are a plus. The beach is close to room. The staff was amazing as always! This was our 4th year to stay here and I would not go anywhere else! We will be back next summer.

My husband and I spent the loveliest weekend at the West Wind and we were truly sorry to leave. The room was spotless, the kitchen well equipped with modern appliances and the bed an ocean of comfort. I loved that the floors were ceramic tile, and so there wasn't that damp, mildew smell I have found at other beachside hotels with carpeting. The staff, from housekeeping to the front office and restaurant were super friendly and helpful. There just wasn't anything we didn't like about the West Wind. We can't wait to go back!

I had the opportunity to stay a night here in August of 2015. I absolutely love this hotel and place! The room was lovely and the beach was spectacular. I fell in love with Sanibel island and the West Wind! To walk from our room to the beach took about 1 minute! I can't wait to go back!

Seems to be popular with older folks and families with children. The pool bar closes at 9pm. This is great if your room faces the pool. Very quiet in the evenings. Rooms were big with a kitchenette. Ours looked like it was freshly redone.

Kind of a motel feel with amazing views and direct access to beach. Kind of expensive pricing on beach chairs ($25) but I guess you make up for it by having most of a kitchen to save on local dining. Overall clean rooms, direct access to beach. A good place for couples to get away have some "us time" and enjoy a nice vacation. The lack of 5 star is more due to some of the amenities not being available during our stay and being placed near a smokers area (outside). Edit: I reviewed this before we left. After leaving they billed us for another night over what our invoice stated; we took their 4 nights deal and were over charged for our time despite our invoice having the right price.

I'd like to give this place 4.5 stars… the inn has been remodeled recently and it's very comfy with nice tile floor to make it sand friendly. The balcony/patio is screened making for a beautiful view of the surf from the 2nd floor. The restaurant serves a nice breakfast at an additional cost. I wish the bath was slightly larger; the bath and shower door cannot be opened simultaneously but recently remodeled. Microwave and refrigerator are nice amenities. The beach is only 100 feet or so away — awesome. Only drawback — please boost the Wi-Fi for guests that must work, do homework, and keep up with social media. It was spotty but I got my homework assignment sent on time. Guests and their families were polite and friendly and I would love to stay again and hopefully give this place an extra star!

While I understand that hotel policy dictates that you must cancel within a certain time frame, in this case a tropical storm is threatening the area. I did not feel safe to take my family under those weather conditions and in fact other hotels were waiving their policy (Sunset Beach Inn). To be clear, I was not looking to cancel, only to reschedule my visit by 1 week. Despite all that, West Wind Inn was completely unwilling to work with us and in fact were extremely rude. If their willing to lose a customer over a justifiably reasonable concern, then I am unwilling to ever entertain staying at this location. Vacationers beware!

Probably a great hotel but I called to book a room for tonight… and I asked the guy to hold on a sec so I could ask my mom if she had any other questions before we booked the room and he hung up on me! He seemed like he hated his life as soon as he answered the phone. Super rude… so we booked somewhere else and when we return we definitely won’t try to book here again!

Where do I begin? When my and I entered the room we were greeted by a damp and sour odor that lasted for the 4 nights that we were there. The furniture consisted of 3 mismatched lamps and heavy wooden pieces, scratched and careworn (circa 1970's) that looked as if they were purchased at a Salvation Army thrift store. There were no decorations that reminded us that we were in Florida, drab beige walls, no tropical colors of wall art, Florida flowers and/or tropical birds. All in all, the room was a big disappointment. The grounds were nothing special either. If the landscaping was done by a professional landscaper then the owner got ripped off. In our opinion, the property needs a MAJOR upgrade in order to be called a tropical resort that charges resort prices.

Nice hotel in a great Location.
Only a few meters to the well maintained sandy beach, which in contrast to the public in the vicinity was in no way overflowing.
The hotel complex offers a lot of leisure facilities on land and water. For example, bicycles and surfboards are free to BORROW.
Those who want to relax are also well-kept, because despite the wide range of activities it is not noisy on the beach and GROUNDS.
The rooms are just like the bathroom in a good clean condition. Air up is at the (let's call it Nice) Kitchenette.

Lovely location. Rooms are Good size and clean but would like the beds to be a little bigger and maybe have air conditioning unit higher up the wall as it was 2ft from my head when sleeping. Reception staff are so helpful and couldn't be more friendly.

Warm and family very quiet.

This is a very clean well run orginization. Food at the restaurant and pool side bar was very good. Two thumbs up to the bartender Kari as she had a very good pour. It is worth renting the chairs and umbrellas for the day. Thanks for a great vacation West Wind Inn.

It has been fun here and the staff helpful. The rooms are a little dated. The TV is small and outlets few. The buildings need painted too. The food is ok. The pool is good and the beach is too.

Very cozy hotel right on the long clam beach of Sanibel.

Would have given 5 stars except for the internet service. Extremely slow. Same last year and thought was due to poor connection as we were far from the office are facing right onto the beach. This year e were ugh behind the office. Great connection but service still very slow. Please upgrade this as some of us must still have connection for work and family. My second request is to have more electrical outlets. With cell phones, IPads and other devices these are needed. Will I be back? Absolutely. In all other aspects wonderful place and service he staff are all great.

The WestWind Inn will always have a special place in my heart! For almost 30 years we spent the most wonderful vacations, met friends for life and always were made welcome and comforetable! I would recommend it (and have) to my friends and anybody who wants to listen! Best beach, best poolbar with the best bartenders, best pool, best staff!

Friendly staff, amazing food and beautiful views. Everyone was so kind and professional. Karri and Linda at the pool bar were the best bartenders! The resort is currently undergoing some renovations, but I had a renovated room overlooking the pool and the gulf. Will definitely be returning!

Staff was great, especially in the Seaside cafe. Rooms were very clean and well supplied. Poolside bar staff were great to have conversations with. Beach view was great. Definitely will be returning here.

The rooms have been renovated in the building we stayed in. Everything looked new including the bathroom. The room and bathroom is small but it is plenty of space for 2 people. My only complaint was was that there is no hot tub near the pool. That would be a great asset to add by the pool. The laundry room was clean. The pool was clean and we loved the beach it was very close to walk from our room. I also liked the fact that the rooms had wood floors and not carpet. The a/c unit in our room was new and very quiet.

This In has lots to offer. Relaxing in the pool, or a stroll to the ocean are only feet away from rooms. The view is amazing. Friendly staff and clean rooms. This place is very relaxing. Will go back and I highly recommend it!

Beautiful beach. Hotel is very clean and outside bar staff very friendly. Beach chair and umbrella rentals were a little excessive. I bought a cheap umbrella at Bailey's (hardware store/supermarket — great place) and left it there. Very quiet location. Everything is basically shut down by 10:00 p. M. If you are a nightlife person not much to do at night after restaurants close. Very relaxing. I was looking for a place to relax. If you're looking for nightlife just go over into Ft. Meyers.

For the price, disappointing. Great location but motel like setting for $650 (3 nights) We were there this past weekend for 3 nights at $650 for our anniversary. Loved the location but little things kill this place and I will stay somewhere else next time. 1. We booked a long time ago but were placed where the stairs are and for some odd reason all the rooms have frosted glass in the door to the room. The light coming through the door was ridiculous. 2. The bed was too hard. We like hard but not that hard. 3. The coffee pot was never cleaned and the last full day we were there, it rained and stormed all day but we stayed out so they could clean. Came back 5 hours later and still not cleaned so we went to the beach anyway. I think all they do is make the bed and change the towels. 4. The restaurant (Normandie Lounge) is average at best and the service of the staff indifferent. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby that are friendly with a better selection and quality of food. 5. Finally, as mentioned the last full day was stormy but we had paid for beach chairs and umbrellas which we couldn't use. When I mentioned this at check out, the lady was short and told me "I can't do anything about that". To be fair, the chairs and umbrella were only $20 for the day, but when you pay over $220 night, you expect some form of politeness and a reversal of the charge. Not here. They really give the impression they don't care you are there.

It is really cute and convenient. Love that the rooms are so close to the pool and the ocean is right there. Little kitchen in the room is very convenient. And love the little screened patio. Also the deck cafe location and prices are a plus. Pool was nice and heated. Only a few pointers: clean the bathrooms with a "clean" mop please. The smell stayed in the tub. The lady at the bar should be friendly. The bathrooms at the pool are BLACK and so are the walls. It does not look clean at all. You can't see anything and it is a problem when you have little ones.

This is our second stay at West Wind Inn. We loved it the moment we walked into a second floor room next to trees and overlooking the Coy pond, then discovering the garden nearby and other beautiful elements. This time we stayed in another building but loved the view out onto the grounds and of the ocean waves. There's very little we could add to the rooms' attributes. A modern hotel does need more in the way power outlets for electronic devices — the ones in the room were hard to access. The room had a menu for the hotel restaurant, the Normandie, but the prices quoted in the room menu were significantly lower so that when we got seated, we were shocked and ducked out to look for a place more in line with the room menu's prices. We would still definitely consider staying at the West Wind Inn again and recommend it to any one planning a visit to Sanibel Island.

Nice, quiet, clean, and great shelling. Restaurant was good, but pricey. The room was well worth the price. Oh the no-see-ums were horrible. Little bugs that you can't see, they start biting before dusk and will eat you up make sure you bring bug spray. Over all we enjoyed it.

Amazing place to stay! The staff is beyond accommodating. The Upper Deck has the best views and great drinks made by the best staff (Kerri and Kim). The ocean views and access to the water is fantastic. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for my first trip to Sanibel!

Great location with fabulous shelling just steps outside the door. Live music at the pool, clean, comfortable rooms, and affordable! Would absolutely come back again!

Coming from Minnesota, we arrived slightly early and they let us check in early since our room was ready. The room was above average for hotels, impressive shower. The distance from the hotel to the beach is amazing, less than a two minute walk. The hotel staff was very friendly and took care our are needs. I would absolutely stay here again. I would definitely recommend this place.

Had the opportunity to stay here for anniversary. Location is great, located right on the gulf, it can't be beat. Staff is friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. Rooms are good sized, ours included a kitchenette. The decor and overall room did seem dated. Attention to small details would make the room feel cleaner as well. Overall a good stay, but not a must repeat location.

Older buildings but seem well maintained with nice landscape. Loved the gulf front view, woke up to dolphins swimming past this morning. Wasn't the cleanest place but things missed were small details, nothing blatantly obvious. Nice full kitchen with basic kitchen supplies as well. Decent musician at the pool and direct access down the path to the beach. Short drive to local restaurants. We will definitely consider staying here again!

It's a nice place with instant access to the beach. The AC seams to be holding strong. I'd recommend it and any other place on the island to someone looking for a relaxed atmosphere.

The room was clean but outdated, did not get the ocean front although I have requested when I booked with them. I also was giving the wrong information by a female staff when I asked to reserve the umbrella on the beach. I was told when I rented it the first day that I only need to call the front desk if I decided not use it following day, but when I went to beach on the second day I found out it has been reserved for some other guests. I call the front the desk right away but I was informed by unfriendly staff that they have nothing available that day and I should have called them the day before in order to reserve one!

Views: the rooms had somewhat good views i give it a 3 because during our stay, the hotel reset the key card so our key didn't work and then when we went to reset the cards, the guy in the office kept putting the wrong number in… The next day, we went out and so they come clean the bed… then we come back to find that the shower door was switched around for some reason… also if you are planning to use Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi is not very good and is very slow at certain times of day Overall it was an ok stay and it was pretty affordable the restraunt was also very good the pool was pretty clean and the beach was not a long walk at all to get to.

Beachfront location, rooms were small but very clean, pool was clean and surrounding deck had plenty of chairs, very friendly staff, had games such as shuffleboard and corn hole. Central location to shops in Sanibel and Captiva.

Love the gulf front room. Walk right out to the ocean. Very cozy and quaint. And the restaurant was decent for breakfast. Had the Florentine.

Nice beach, friendly staff, bike rental available, pretty good restaurant. No gym, which was a downside. Make sure to bring your deep woods off if you enjoy the sunset by the beach, no-sees are wild!

Having chosen one of the mid-range motels on Sanibel Island, and at a good rate, we were expecting adequate. How inadequate were our expectations! Very friendly, helpful service right in the door. Beautiful room, well beyond what we imagined — — closer to being on a cruise than in a motel. Excellent internet service, if you use it. Wonderful restaurant attached, the Normandie — we had breakfast there, loved the food, the service, and the decor. Very handy to the Ding Darling preserve (do check it out! ), lots of other restaurants, has its own beach entrance and a hut for cleaning your shells, loads of bikes for rent parked outside the rooms. We could go back just to stay there, since we already got our shells! Please do check out the West Wind Inn if you plan a stay on Sanibel Island. We loved it. (Oh, and the dorks that thought they were bitten by bedbugs? Those were noseeums. If you can't deal with those nippy little gnats, stay indoors! ).
