Great service and staff really helpful breakfast is amazing our overall stay is 5 stars we came for our wedding anniversary and the barman Chris made our night incredible thank you will be back for sure.

Pelican Hotel provides friendly, helpful staff with vibrant personalities. The amenities are well worth the $20/day resort fee. Our room was clean, well appointed and more than adequate. The location could not be better. No car needed.

Spent the weekend on south beach and stayed at the Pelican. Overall our stay was great. Check in was quick, room was clean and quiet. Daily complimentary breakfast and two cocktails was nice. Best of all was the location. No complaints!

Excellent service at the bar. The food is great and so are the drinks. Also a great location to people-watch on Ocean Drive. We stopped by several time spirit.

The mango martini's are point! I am a total mango lover. Four stars for the Mango martini. The pizza is a big no no. The dough is dry and the sauce is salty, please get anything else but that. My male waiter was very nice and attentive. But the other table next to me had a waitresses name lacy but the called her lazy instead because she was MIA.

One of the worst hotels I've stayed at in Miami. First, the check-in process took over an hour, the receptionist said they did not see my reservation in the system so I had to contact the booking company myself to get it straightened out. Then, when we finally got a room, it was the worst condition I've ever seen a room in Miami! It was worse than a degraded bottom quality hotel alongside a country road. There was used gum stuck to the lamp base, rusted and stained soap dish, a sink that didn't drain, worn out bed frame with rips and tears, and dirty sheets with holes. Fortunately guest services was willing to switch us into a different room which looked great, but room did not have a working room lock! So finally they put us in an ocean view room overlooking Ocean Dr. Sounds great right?! Well, half of the switches didnt work, so we had no fan in the bathroom, no ceiling fan, no working cable service for TV, and no bedside lamp lighting. The only reason I am even giving this place 2 stars is 1 for the awesome shower head which felt like a waterfall and 1 for the complimentary breakfast which was the best value out of any hotel comp breakfast! This place has great potential, just needs some major TLC and this place will be a fantastic stay.

Cocktail and food really expensive considering the quality…

I was excited for my stay but it ended up not being what I had hoped. The bed in the room was like sleeping on a wooden box. You can have a mattress pad put onto your bed, but it is still pretty hard. You can also hear everything in the hallway which makes getting a good night sleep hard. The free drinks at the bar were nice, and the person at the front desk was very nice. The main reason I'm giving this a 2 star is because the restaurant was horrible. You are given 20% off because you are a guest, but the rude waitress we had argued with us about the discount. There is also a 20% fee/gratuity added onto each bill so I felt like I was being forced to tip someone who didn't deserve it. Our waitress at times was just standing up front talking to other staff for long periods of time while we weren't helped. The food was also average at best. If it wasn't for the service at the restaurant, and the uncomfortable bed, I would probably come back to this hotel because the location is really nice.

The hotel room: Clean sheets and towels, well serviced and maintained everyday, supplies were kept up with, bed was on the stiff side (but I prefer that, so it worked out beautifully). Room is small but what else do you need besides a bed and a full bathroom? The hotel restaurant: Menu had a variety to choose from, food was good (nothing special), the free breakfast was decent but a little on the smaller serving size, but there are plenty of other places to eat within walking distance, food availability outside of hotel was not a problem. The hotel bar: Menu had a variety to choose from as well, drinks were decently made, the free drinks were on the smaller serving size as well, but they did the trick. Happy hour was alive but no DJ, just playing music from a playlist. The hotel staff: The bar tender was easy going and helpful. The restaurant hostesses were nice and friendly. The waiters and waitresses were nice and attentive. The check-in staff was good too, especially Wendell! The hotel managers/supervisors were nice. Overall the hotel staff was nice and able to help when needed. They did seem as if they were either tired, lazy, or burned out… as they didn't have the BEST vibrant/outgoing personalities, but I can't say I had a personal problem with any of them. The hotel atmosphere/ambiance: It was not as loud as I thought it would be at night. Getting rest went well, I can't complain. A good vibe throughout the hotel, and no major problems I can complain about.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially Carlos and Chris at the front desk, Christian the bar tender and the restaurant staff.
The food was delicious. It included a free breakfast, 2 free drinks at happy hour, 2 free bottles of water daily, and a 20% discount at their restaurant.
The hotel room was basic but clean. HOWEVER, my daughter and I didn’t feel safe on the streets in that location. It was overrun by a crowd we don’t usual associate with. The woman were w…earing thong bathing suits during the day and at night in the hotel and while walking the streets. Also they were riding around in convertible cars flashing their naked breast. People were also smoking joints on the streets. Nighttime was very rowdy due to excessive drunkenness. It’s a shame that from 5th Street to almost 14th Street this is the current situation in South Beach.
If this is your thing… then and only then this location is for you. Otherwise, I suggest you stay on Collins Ave or Washington Ave. The hotel said that they can only refund the 2 night early checkout if they resell the room. I am confident that they will do the right thing by me regardless of whether they resell the room or not. They we very sympathetic to our feelings of trepidation. Again, as I said the staff was wonderful and customer service was a priority.

Location was great, but super busy on a Friday night. Great decor, fun room. Very thankful for valet parking for a decent price given the location.

I couldn't have had a better experience with the Pelican Hotel. The two drink happy hour is worth its weight in gold. They are big, good, strong drinks. And it's 2 per person free every day. The rooms are so sheik and ultra cool and the service is so great it's as good as any 5 star hotel. My wife and I were here for 5 days and I haven't ever had more fun. The location is so perfect and honestly I'll never stay anywhere else. The breakfast is also outstanding. And for folks that worry about the noise, you are in the absolute heart of South Beach which is a very lively place so some noise is expected but I never ever felt like it was obscene by any means. Such a great hotel. Best hotel experience I've ever had and I've been Platinum Elite with Marriott for 3 years meaning over 75 stays per year so believe me when I say this is such a great find I would know as I've stayed at well over 200 hotels in recent years.

The Pelican was clean, comfortable, and fun for our recent visit to South Beach in March 2018. The staff was friendly and helpful, and did the best they could with recommendations. The restaurant was loud and crowded with poor service during happy hour and evenings, but during breakfast, they are efficient and friendly. The room was unique and clean. Great shower! Free drinks at happy hour, decent beach chair and towel service. Overall a fun place in a fun location.

Fantastic morning breakfast and South Beach experience! The “Featherweight” breakfast was a delight — delicious and well prepared. Fresh ingredients, and great service… all while watching the colorful beach goers walking by, and a front row seat on the park. Magical.

As other people have said, it is a bitter-sweet experience with this hotel. I would say more bitter than sweet for the price, it is not worth it. The hotel needs to really step up its housekeeping game, and do a little upgrading. Here are some points from my one night stay at this hotel. Sweets:
— Was upgraded to the penthouse sweet upon arrival (unsure why).
— Excellent location. Central on Ocean Dr. …
— The 1930s art deco decor and vintage furniture was charming, and the penthouse was very spacious.
— The free 2 mojitos per guest, per day was nice. The drinks were good, too.
— Great place if you're just looking to invite a bunch of people over to get smashed and not care about anything else or the details of your suite.
— Valet parking through the hotel was about $27 per day/night, which is cheaper than some other hotels I found. Meh:
— Breakfast menu was very "meh", but it was free with the suite. If you want a good breakfast, look elsewhere than the hotel's. Bitters:
— As others have pointed out, you will be constantly bombarded by promoters outside the hotel trying to sell you meals/drinks from the hotel. This is extremely annoying, however this is not the only hotel on the strip practicing this type of strategy.
— Many light bulbs in the suite did not work.
— Master bathroom toilet is probably the weakest flushing toilets of all time.

The place in if you lack much maintenance, many things left, without attention, without repair. The apartment we rented very nice, although some details could improve. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is famous because it was half of a famous Italian journalist who also wrote a book there. But as far as I'm concerned I found it very dirty. I understand the retro taste but I don't transigo on cleaning.

Great location, good was decent, free breakfast, Wi-Fi and they held or bags after check out so we could spend the day walking around. Very friendly. Sister restaurant next door accidentally gave us 2 60oz margaritas and we wanted one to share so they gave us the see kind for free!

We stayed her for 7 days. Hotel portion and hotel staff deserve at least a rating of 4. Cafe staff… well I would give them a 2 at most. Rude, aggressive, and condescending. Between them and the large menu standing in the entrance to the hotel, you are nothing more than inconvenience. Your 2 free drinks during happy hour? You better enjoy the same drink every night for a week. How about having a small selection, or at the very least change drinks nightly. I came back to our room while it was being cleaned. Door propped open but no housekeeping anywhere in site. We enjoyed our time in SoBe and will return but unfortunately, not to the Pelican. I expected much more in customer service.

I'm not staying. I decided to go to eat there I went after touring and see the rest.
Excellent food, very rich and abundant. The dish perfectly presented and despite being alone I attended perfect. Julio the waiter I have a impeccable attention. Highly recommended the place. The music a little loud nomas.

Musica Mut Alta, you can't talk and put too much ice on the Trsgos!

Hand down I will go back we had paella and it was great flavor service was good. Prices are a little high but it was worth it amazing place to eat and hang out.

Historical place owned by Sergio Rossi… place a little ' retro but with charm, with a decent kitchen… to visit.

The hotel is excellent if you want to see a hotel of the 60/70 very well kept in the details of the decoration, the staff is attentive and the treatment unbeatable, the restaurant is good, the menu is ample. In negative emphasize that the shower alternates from cold to hot and vice versa making it impossible to take a continuous shower, the other one to carve the elevator, usually does not work (at least in our stay). We are on a third floor, it is also true that it serves as an exercise and you think twice before going down to smoke a cigarette… nonetheless and having the opportunity to change and comover other hotels in the Ocean of previous stays, weighs both the gentile of the trip Ulación we decided to stay.

This place is so cute, and their breakfast is amazing! I'll definitely be coming back to this one :)

A wonderful find! Kind of eclectic, but very nice, clean, reasonable prices. Carlos at the front desk is an absolute asset to Pelican Hotel. He went way above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Also one of the servers, I think her name is Kristina, also went out of her way to ensure our stay was above expectations!

Would not recommend this place, invite you in with the promise of 30% off bill, then mug you off by not taking discount off bill, when challenged told it’s only the food bill then automatically add 20% service charge, left feeling ripped off, 1st night of trip to Miami, boy have they lost out on all my holiday money, got to say there are better and more pleasant places to drink and eat in as we found out later in the night, give this place a wide birth, and refuse the service charge as my American relatives said you can, tip them what you think the service was worth not what they want to charge you. This place is shocking service.

Great Location in the First Line of Ocean Drive. Staff is friendly. Hotel guests have the Choice out of few breakfasts, which are all good and you get two Drinks Each afternoon.

Service is really low level. I mean guy just cleaned our table by droping everything on the sidewalk. Awesome. I feel like he said "here you go pigs, it's clean now". He did not say anything.

Interesting decor… Not exactly sure how to categorize it. Some rooms seemed somewhat contemporary while others were pretty dated. The reception staff, wait staff and the bartender we're all awesome. Some rooms had a slight odor which I think k came from the AC units. The bathroom in my room was dated, the detachable shower head leaked from the top spraying mist all over the shower and the fan was really loud and made really strange noises. It's right on Ocean drive which is nice since you're right close to the beach. Room was very reasonable also…

Awesome location and some of the staff are great, but rude management. This place also more shabby then art deco. Renovations are badly needed. The room rates are not warranted.

A very eccentric hotel layout wise. Hotel is right on Miami's south beach Staff is extremely friendly. There is a restaurant and bar in the hotel All guests staying at the hotel get 20% off their dinners.! And after 4 pm all guests get 2 free alcoholic drinks! This is amazing and what a deal. I highly recommend this hotel.

Wow the service was great didn't get the girls name but she hold it down for us we had a great time she made sure we were well served and attend at all times definitely a place I would recommend and the food ufff it was off the chain they made the ocean drive an experiment we will never forget … I really wish I could remember her name but too many shots lol.

The food was well priced. The drinks were 2 for 1 very good price. The waiter was nice enough to give us 3 free drinks. We had an amazing time. There was also live music, acoustic guitar and it sounded good.

Fish lunch at the restaurant, great food, very good and plentiful drinks. Only note the price a bit too high.

The majority of the themed rooms are pretty much average. The service is acceptable. Location is great and it gets quiet around midnight. Would I stay again? Probably not.

On the last night of the holidays of my son wanted to we let it go us yet again well. After studying the menus of different restaurants, we decided for the bistro of the hotel * Pelican *. My son ordered to Scottish salmon, stuffed with crab meat and side dish sauteed garlic spinach. After waiting over 30 minutes was delivered. The salmon was boils over completely to find the crab meat only with a magnifying glass. Spices seemed just went in the kitchen and the garlic spinach was a joke! The serving size was intended for young children.
I ordered grilled tuna — mine with onions medium cooked through — with a summer salad as a side dish. The tuna was more than done, the onion crust was barely noticeable and the summer salad consisted of Brussels salad and a few pieces of Orange — a very bad joke! Serving size for a toddler! I have ordered to the waiter in to questions whether the whole thing was a joke. He explained our dishes to us, went up but at all not on our complaints. Also the friendly Lady at the reception was not. As the patron of this Bistro probably knew about the bad service, 18% tip were already included in the Bill! We have almost $ 90.00 leave!
I can only say: makes a large curve around this Bistro.

Food is overpriced in the restaurant and the average. Staff too pushy. Beer for $8.18% tip is already on the Bill for poor operation.

Very good location and great rooms with good atmosphere. Staff was nice and friendly.
Unfortunately many hotel amenities have hooks that have an unpleasant connotation: there are free sunbeds on the beach, the screen but costs $15! Breakfast is free of charge, but the drinks cost (excluding service)!
The breakfast and the cocktails were good. For me the hotel to much coolness reserves, which manifests itself in, that a baseball cap with the logo of the hotel is $45 cost. Please get off the high horse.

We had a fantastic few days at the Pelican — it's fair to say it made our visit to Miami really wonderful. The staff are great and just can't do enough for you. They're welcoming, friendly and attentive. The rooms are quirky, eccentric and nicely thought out — this is definitely not a 'chain hotel' and you can see person touches at every turn. The location is perfect for exploring South Beach — breakfast out front is perfect for people-watching and taking in the 'sights' that amble by. Be warned — it's not a quiet spot, so be prepared for loud music into the early hours. We loved every minute of it and will definitely be back.

Travelers… This hotel is really ideal if you like to stay in an original place, where the courtesy of the staff, either at the bar or at the front desk… and the cleanliness of the rooms are of a very good standard… all at a competitive price. Also the beach service is perfect, with super padded beds and towels of excellent sponge. Sea and beach are spotless, and the sun really cooks! Good stay. E. W Italy.
