We stayed in a deluxe cottage with two rooms. We booked our stay despite the few bad reviews because they seemed like trivial things to us and we frequent a different location owned by Carefree that we love. Despite letting the staff know ahead of time that we would be arriving early, and being told that our room would be ready an hour early, it was not. We found the four of us hanging out in the lobby, with quite a few other families, waiting for our cottage to be ready. This was one of the bad reviews we read, and it was true for us. When we got to our room, it smelled heavily of bleach. But assuming they had just gotten done cleaning, it didn't bother us much. Another complaint that we had read. Despite the cottage smelling of bleach, it had dirty handprints everywhere. The door jams and baseboards were black. The floor was dirty, there was sand and dirt everywhere, and no way for us to clean it up ourselves. We found things throughout the cottage, in the drawers. Children's slippers, screws, trash, etc. It's obvious that house cleaning is lacking. Our youngest wet the bed. When we stripped the bed, we found none of the beds had mattress covers on them and all three mattresses were stained with yellow stains. We had some things that we needed the Wi-Fi for. That was a joke. The directions literally said find one that has the strongest signal. When my husband went to ask about it, they said that there was simply too many people for the system to support. We loved that the cottage had plates, flatware, can opener, pots and pans, etc. Ours came with a dishwasher as well. L as a full sized fridge and stove/oven. My family and I decided that MAYBE it was so bad because it's the end of season… But I don't know. If it's been so busy, there should be enough money to support hiring better housecleaning and such.
