This is the noisest place I've ever stayed. The door doesn't seal completely and the windows are thin. We could hear people, dogs, the highway, etc. All night long. We couldn't sleep. We thought we'd leave the room fan on to block some noise out. Nope, not an option. Then at 6am the room safe started beeping. Every. Three. Seconds! When we called the front desk they made a joke and said they had no idea why that would happen and said someone would be by some time to fix it. Yes, it's cheap but not cheap enough to warrant being this bad. The upgrades they've made are asthetic only and don't add much real value to the room. We cancelled the other 2 nights of our reservation and found a place not far away for $10 more a night and a million times better.

I don’t know this hotel, never heard of it, never tried staying on it.

Spent a few nights there is weekend and found the hotel experience at The Sandman unique and fun. Friendly staff and fellow guests, some of whom I met after I checked in at the live local band happy hour at the pool. Band was kinda goofy, but a good vibe. And nice touches in the room and super convenient vending and continental type breakfast with fresh food. Great concept and glad I didn't go with some chain place.

Stayed here for four nights and I enjoyed my stay. Staff was helpful and friendly from the first day to my last. I’ve seen people post about kids being loud and hearing them but I am a heavy sleeper and heard nothing! I highly recommend this hotel!

The room was clean but extremely small, don’t get a room on the ground floor or you will hear the people walk, talk, etc. All day/night. Breakfast is minimal but sufficient. The location is good, close to restaurants and shopping, located just off of the freeway.

This is a very nice, clean and quaint hotel. Fridge In the room is a plus. Quiet and well laid out. Would stay here again!

Gorgeous pool huge hot tub both very clean nice rooms comfy beds very clean clean showers and bathtubs nice TVs but not exactly the greatest of selection. Decent breakfast make your own waffles two kinds of juice selection of hot cocoa and teas coffee. Definitely was put off by the staff in the breakfast room. They behave as if these talk is coming out of their own pocket. They hurry you out for the breakfast room good 15 minutes before it closes. They converse with some guests and one another in Spanish but rather cold shoulder to non Spanish speaking people.

Boutique motel recently renovated with hip design touches and a cool pool area. This is a good value for Sonoma County. Minus 1 star for location (not bad, just not central to bars and restaurants), and minus 1 star for the food program.

I liked this clean and well maintained hotel. They have lots of parking and a really nice pool area for families and a nice area for adults to hang out too. Its conveniently located near the highway for easy on/off and get on your way kinda place. Also nearby food establishments so you have a variety of places to choose from. Rooms are nice and clean and A/C working great too!

This is a basic Hotel. But it's clean, freshly painted, seem to be doing a good job on maintenance. Breakfast is okay. Walking distance to several restaurants.

Rooms are a little bit dated but clean. Everything worked in the room. Very nice pool area and a good cold breakfast.

Nothing special but, nice, clean and safe. A small group decided to have a 2am party outside our door and security/front desk squashed it immediately after my complaint. I'd stay with them again.

Rooms were in short supply in the area and Chris offered his only available apartment a pet friendly room. Meant no wall to wall carpeting, our preference anyway. Wine tour and great food is what brought us here and Chris the general manager and awesome person is charming friendly and best of all could be a. Tour guide. He mapped out destinations for vineyards and places to stop and grab a bite or areas to enjoy views. Hotel is clean, nice pool that has a bar… I never stay in motels but this is a treat.

My stay at the Sandman was amazing! The decor was sleek and modern, the room was spacious and very clean. There was a kitchenette, which included a mini fridge and microwave. The bed was very comfy with plenty of pillows. The TV was a large flat screen, with plenty of channels including both HBOs. For the guests convenience, there was also a small safe to keep valuables, an iron and full size ironing board, and a blow-dryer. The bathroom included a shower/tub combo, and unlike most hotels, whom are steering away from offering complimentary shampoo/soap, the Sandman has a wall dispenser with body wash, shampoo and conditioner, all by Malin + Goetz. Even though it was quite hot during my stay, the heating/cooling unit in the room worked very well. The property itself is beautiful, with a large heated pool with adult size inflatables, a hot tub, and a staff manned poolside bar. There is a large grassy area, perfect for your 4 legged friend (s), to whom the staff is very welcoming, going as far as putting your pooches name on a sign in the lobby and offering to photograph your pet next to it. The breakfast is also outstanding. They served cereal, milk, oatmeal, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, toast, hard boiled eggs, (and my personal favorite, the make it yourself waffles! ) coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange and cranberry juice. And last, but definitely in need of mention is the helpful, friendly staff!

Love The Sandman! We stayed only one day/night but it was really nice! We arrived early and due to the Memorial Day holiday, it was packed and there were no early check-in rooms. The front desk said we could use the pool & pool house so the kids jumped in the pool and we hung out at the pool bar. The pool house/cabana was excellent. We met Chris Morano at the pool house and he was super nice and helpful. We didn’t realize who he was until later, but finding out later that he…’s been the concierge in California year after year was not surprising! He won the 2016 Excellence in Lodging & Hospitality Award for a Lodging Staff Person by the California Lodging Industry Association (CLIA) and other awards too. We found that little nugget of info while researching the area, history and learning about the fire damage to the area. The rooms are large, the bathrooms nice and the it was great to find shampoo, conditioner and body wash on hand. Drawback: no hair dryer. Beds were comfy and AC worked great. The pool and hot tub were loved by the kids and the lounge chairs were comfortable, too. Breakfast was basic… waffle maker, coffee, juice, bagels, toast, cereal, yogurt, fruit & hard-boiled eggs. We wished we could have stayed longer!

Great hotel in between Sonoma/Napa — can't believe the price! Currently being renovated (May) but you can tell the management/owners are paying special attention to details and amenities.

Great little place, pleasantly surprised. Mid-Century Modern refurb of an older motel worked well! Great staff as well.

I love the design of both the exterior, interior and the graphic profile. It feels fresh and new. Big room and one of the very few hotel rooms where we actually sat down together. Otherwise, it's more like if hotels place a table and a chair in a room just because it should be there, not like if they will be convenient to use, other than placing stuff on the table and clothes on the chairs. It's details that make a difference.

Beautiful hotel. Tastefully remodelled. Great pool and hot tub. Cabana bar is pricey, but we had a fantastic time.

Stayed here March 2018. Great place. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They recommended places to eat/drink in the area. The rooms themselves were very clean. Beds are comfortable. Although we didn’t use the pool, it did offer a full service bar. They offer breakfast in the mornings (waffles, bagels, fruit, coffee, muffins). For the quality of service, this place was a bargain. Highly recommend it.

Stayed here for work. Great services clean rooms and daily housekeeping was also a bonus as I was there for 6 weeks. Would recommend!

Stayed March 2018. Really sharp decor, no detail overlooked, great price with great location. Everything works, the front desk folks were awesome and friendly.

I came her to visit my girl and no one got in my way. They respected our privacy.

Places recently remodeled. The rooms are reasonable priced. I would stay here again.

This is an average remodeled clean motel. Our room was quiet and nice. It was nothing special. This motel has a very nice pool and hot tub. I was very disappointed in the breakfast though.

From the front desk to the entire staff, everyone is so kind And extremely patient. The pool this wonderful the washer and dryer is obvious manatees including the continental breakfast. The rooms are spacious I'm so glad I decided to stay here.

The location for us is excellent, we have medical appointments just around the corner and they provide us with good pricing and the right room for our needs.

Newly remodeled. Bathrooms were clean. Service was good. Looked very nice.

Love the beds and the pillows are fantastic. The toilet rocked slightly but the room was nice and quiet. The breakfast was pretty standard. It's the hotel I choose everytime I go to Santa Rosa.

Great place. Clean, large rooms, hot tub and pool. I found it very comfortable. It is a Motel, to be sure. Renovated 50's property, but I would come back.

It's a nice little remodeled classic Motel on Highway 101. I suppose they call them Boutique motels now. There's no desk in the rooms to do any work or even a table. In the people at the front desk at least when I checked in really needed to smile and be a little bit more inviting but apart from that I'll probably stay there again.

The hotel was off freeway and easy to find, with surrounding shopping center and restaurant. The service desk was friendly. The room was nice and clean. The pool was clean too. The continental breakfast is serving with cereals, hard broil egg and waffles.

I was not impressed with this hotel. You could hear everything outside the door. The blinds didn't keep out the light from the parking lot and the breakfast wasn't very good. They did allow pets which was good. At one point late at night my key stopped working and the front desk wouldn't give me a new one since my wife had booked the room. That meant I had to wake her up to get back in…

Clean, good location and good price.

Nice King size or two queen beds in a amply spaced room to start. Staff both office and all other areas has improved greatly with a lot more attention to detail. Maintenance of the place is much improved as well. A lot of work being done to place (as of 1/17). I like the newer 'everthing' decor, TV, micro and refrigerators. I love the very good quality linen, finishing out, on the bed and in the bath.

Seems like a recently renovated motel (plans displayed for continued future renovations), rooms were basic and modern-clean with fridge and microwave. Nice big heated pool and large jacuzzi for relaxing. Reception was nice. Continental breakfast available, though I did not partake. There is also a Carrows right next to the Inn, and convenient KMART and dollar tree down the road. Right next to the freeway, maybe 5 minutes from downtown Santa Rosa and college district.

Don't believe the online rates indicated on their website. Once there you will be charged double the rate. Office staff refuses to acknowledge their website indicates a queen room is $79.50 a night. Called three times to talk to the manager concerning the bill,. With no return call. Place a dispute on the credit card until someone in the management area will return my call. Update: Finally got a call back from management. Receiving the rates provided at the time of reservations per the website. Credit takes 3 to 5 days to show on the credit card. Still will only give 1 star as the front desk staff do not know the motel rates on line.

It was a reasonable price for a holiday weekend. I recommend booking online a couple weeks in advance. The rooms are really comfortable and cleanm enjoyed my christmas eve there.

This place is growing on me! The front desk staff were helpful and attentive. I've stayed here a few times and the only problems I had were keycard related, which can be frustrating after a long day and you just want in your room. The pool and hot tub are a plus. Breakfast. Conveniently close to In&Out, etc.

I'd give two thumbs up for their professionalism. Cleanliness was beyond compare. Only thing I noticed was the air vent in the bathroom could use a little cleaning. I was only going to stay one night as I am on a work-leisure type of travel assignment but I liked it so much I ended up staying 3 nights! Keep up the good work sandman.

Don't believe the reviews. THIS IS A MOTEL 6! The Sandman is an utterly shabby, poorly maintained, overpriced motel that has the look and feel of a Motel 6. Dark and dingy rooms with non-matching lamps that look like they came from a flea market, loud air conditioning, creepy carpeting, a tiny bathroom. The breakfast room is incredibly cramped and is poorly serviced; it has 4 tables to service the facility's 142 rooms. I am a frequent traveler and I question the validity of all of the positive ratings this hotel gets. It is certainly not a 3 star facility which is its rating on Expedia. 1.5 stars, maybe. This was one of the most unpleasant hotel stays I have every had.

The motel needs to be updated. My room had a crack in the bathroom where it was leaking. My card didn't work on room where they serve breakfast. There was three other guess where their card didn't work. The was a worker there who would open the door or fix our keys. Horrible customer service.

The rooms were simple, if not outdated and the term 'hotel' is a bit misleading. This is a motel. It is rundown, it is insanely overpriced.

Very clean, nice pool, great free yummy breakfast, free Wi-Fi. Friendly front desk clerk. Beautiful grounds, and best of all it's near restaurants, shopping, and right by the freeway on ramps! Bring your swim suit!

This place needs some work to get it modernized. One building was under repair and looked like a disaster. We stood outside the office and it took 20+ minutes for the previous guest to check in before we could use our reservation. Room was clean but there was rust on some closet fittings. Wi-Fi was good. I only stayed here for 5 hours overnight and it cost $230 USD.

I stayed for one night for a choir festival. Pretty standard hotel.

Helpful staff. Equipped for children. My daughter needed a crib for the night and they took care of it. Great place overall.

The room was a typical motel type room. Door had a big gap between door jam and door. Bathroom looked remodeled so it was nice. They were remodeling one whole building so it may look very nice soon!

Everything about the Sandman Inn was great; it's right next to a 25 hour diner, minutes away from Trader Joe's and 7-11, has (good) free internet, and an awesome free breakfast. The room was spacious, beds comfortable, towels plentiful. Check in and out was simple and the price was very fair. Even though this place was only minutes away from the Motel 6 I was originally going to stay at, it was such a better quality that I was euphoric the whole time I was there.

Great older motel, trustworthy, stable and above satisfactory. No problems with reservations, check-in rooms or services. I was here in AUG 2015, had two rooms. From the 1959 Eisenhower era architecture and the sleepy boy illuminated signs I thought I was in for an adventure. I was surprised by the staff and then the rooms. I checked in late, making jokes, looking road tired and unkempt. They were professional and swift. They knew the routine, the facility and got it done. The rooms were spotless, well painted, dusted, quiet. No stink, or hint of something. Neutral air. As always, I lifted one side the mattress nearly to the ceiling and checked for critters and hidden monsters. None found, and was very clean, not a dead bug or roll of lint. I moved the furniture around because I need it set a weird way (yes I put it back). When you move furniture, big furniture, you can see if they clean behind and under it and they did. Didn't miss anything. Even tops of picture frames. These are older rooms and you can see that in the design, but they have been maintained well, updating as needed. Maybe this was a mess 10 years ago, I have no idea, but today the rooms are great. The shower heads have the required height update. Many older and even some newer rooms of other hotels have the lower portion of the shower heads at 5 feet. This is crazy for us 6 foot + guys. People under 5 feet can still use an 8 foot shower head, but a full height human can not use a 5 foot head.
