Very clean and beautifully decorated. Have stayed many times and love the fact that we can go to the Blue Wing to eat and drink. Having these two places separated means the accommodation at the Tallman is very quiet.

We love this boutique hotel in downtown Upper Lake. They do everything right!

A wonderful spot for a time out to relax, and enjoy. The restaurant food is divine, and just a few steps away. We will definitely return for another stay!

I cannot believe what a remarkable place Upper Lake has. I confess, when the wife said she booked a spot in Upper Lake, I was skeptical but I now repent in sackcloth and ashes. This is an amazing spot!

Wonderful staff, amazing accommodations! they have clawfoot tubs in all the rooms! my favorite thing! lots of wineries nearby. A very nice weekend getaway.

This was a great stop. Nice friendly people. We stopped in a few nightmare places before ending up here. We will not travel up to this area without staying at the Talman. We were at a home away from home. We stayed friday and saturday. Breakfast was good and healthy. My kids loved the pool and my wife felt at ease with the clean spacious bathroom. I recomend not using any third party sites just call them Directly because they dont always have the right room options. We split our party just to find out that there was another room available. Thanks Shannon for all your help.

Really nice, quaint hotel in a very quiet spot, on the north end of Clear Lake. The room was very nice, spacious, and had a lovely balcony. Breakfast was great, and dinner at the Blue Wing Saloon nextdoor was surprisingly excellent! I would definitely stay there again. Nicest hotel in the Clear Lake area, for sure.

Like stepping into a Wes Anderson set. Quaint setting, dream wallpapers, and some of the best continental breakfast option Ive had. Housemade scones and bread pudding! Restaurant right next door, reservation recommended (it's the not dinner spot in town).

This hotel is a hidden gem… I don’t want to leave! Their attention to detail is extraordinary, from guest arrival to the lovely complimentary gourmet breakfast with housemade granola and scones. And, be sure to book a room with a Japanese Ofuro soaking tub, which is how I ended and began each day during my 2 day stay.

Wonderfully charming hotel nestled in the hills. Excellent food, services and staff. Same with the Blue Wing Saloin next door.

It is crazy how nice this place is. It does not fit in at all, in a good way. I have never stayed in a more impressive room. The Japanese soaking tub was pretty cool, even though we had no idea how to use it (some instructions would be nice) the water just spilled over the edge under the deck, which I'm assuming is why the mosquitoes were so bad. The restaurant is nice. The live music is quite charming. The menu is small and I was not very impressed with the food but it was a good experience. Overall, it is a stunning hotel you should stay at if going through the area. The rooms are so gorgeous. Very romantic.

Beautiful and elegant decor. Such attention to detail in every way. We enjoyed the lovely breakfast buffet and the evenings in the courtyard where we listened to live music. We loved our time at the Tallman Hotel. Our thanks to all the staff for making it a wonderful stay. Hospitality at its best.

Beautiful historical building and property, elegant furnishings. Our suite included an outdoor Japanese soaking tub and shower on the back patio. Wonderful complimentary breakfast in the am. Impeccable service. Front porch and cookies on arrival. The hotel shares an outdoor courtyard with the historic Blue Wing Restaurant. Adirondack chairs and a whimsical frog fountain are in the courtyard and Sunday we listened to a relaxing jazz guitarist. We can't wait to go back!

We enjoyed our stay at the Tallyman very much. It was homey with all the modern technological amenities like Wifi, flat screen TVs and a phone for local and international calls. Plenty of towels, including beach towels, were provided and Andre was always available for whatever we needed. You'll be hard pressed to find a nicer spot at the price he charges.

I went to the restaurant. Amazing presentation, gorgeous landscaping, and the service was quick, and friendly.

We just returned from a delightful weekend at the Tallman Hotel and pool in Upper Clear Lake, two and a half hour north of SF. We know the owners and developers. The hotel is beautifully restored mid-nineteenth century hotel and bar. It had been for sale for forty years. Bernie and Lynne had successful business careers and have poured a fortune in a ten-year project. The hotel and restaurant are wonderful. The food good and the rooms designed by an expert old building interior designer. We had two meals with them and heard about the project and their life in Lake County, CA. The weather was hot with cool evenings and at night. The Continental Breakfast was superb. The hotel is a creamy yellow, with tall windows and a splendid Victorian living room and dining room. There are rooms also in new attached bungalows in warm greens and yellows. There are also rooms in a refurbished barn that are quiet and off the swimming pool that has lap lanes as well as shallow depths for children. There is a hot tub. Having stayed in hotels in New York and Chicago, the Tallman Hotel prices were cheap by comparison. We enjoyed it so much we are sure to return again and soon.

Priced pretty high. Too high. But service is EXCELLENT. Extremely clean, quality everything. Great breakfast. If there aren't enough guests staying they'll even bring breakfast to your room. Awesome restaurant/bar on the premises. They have live music nightly. Great staff, very friendly. Great spot for couples.

The hotel was doing ok, the room was nice enough. The biggest problem and I hope the operator will read this and make changes. When you charge in excess of $200/night the breakfast must be top notch. I understand continental and this was VERY SUBPAR. There literally was a couple of pieces of bread out on a plate, the yogurt (at 9:30) was sitting without an ice bowl and after likely sitting out for 2.5 was technically rancid. Everything looked bad. They run a great restaurant next store and yet allow this to happen.

When you see a lot of glowing reviews of a property it usually makes me wonder how accurate they are. But my wife surprised me with a stay at the Tallman Hotel for my birthday and I want to tell you this is going to reinforce those glowing reviews. Living just a few miles from the property I’ve been there a few times to the Blue Wing Saloon and toured the hotel but never stayed until now. I’m glad I did! The room that we stayed in is room which has a Japanese soaking tub in a garden outside. The room is really spacious and very comfortable. You have a porch on the front to relax and enjoy any music at the hotel or adjacent Blue Wing Saloon and then a nice little patio in the back that has that soaking tub. The room, the property and everything about it are absolutely immaculate. It’s clear that their housekeeping procedures are very effective and the staff really, really cares about the guests. Not a speck of dust, towels all clean and neatly folded, bed beautifully made. I also own a resort and the attention to detail here is absolutely impressive. Everything in the room works perfectly and the quality of the supplies and linens are first-rate. Frankly, if you’re in the hotel business you could come stay at this property to set an example for how to run a place — it’s that well done. The Butcher family that owns the place have absolutely found their calling.
