Great place to stay. Clean fresh room. Customer friendly. A little pricey but you get what you pay for and NO BED BUGS!

They allow pets, which is a big plus for us at least in my book. Other than that, the facilities are nice, the staff is decent, and everything is as it should be. The building itself is pretty old, but still comfortable enough to be content in. Overall, can't complain. What you see is what you get, not too shabby.

Nothing fancy. All the basics. Good location for Bay Area access everywhere. Great service.

This LaQuinta is showing its age and needs more than just a new coat of paint and some new carpet. Textured walls and ceilings are a thing of the past. Sure they have made a few upgrades but you can tell the budget was cut short. This morning for breakfast they had no plastic forks. While finishing our breakfast with our fingers I witnessed the attendant washing off all the appliances and counter tops then she wiped the waffle iron off with the same dirty rag. Not the outside but the actual cooking surface. I think breakfast somewhere else is in order for tomorrow. Also the exhaust fan in the bathroom sounds like a jet at full throttle at take off but the mirror still fogs up. This place is prime example of you get what you pay for. Enjoy your stay.

Stayed here with some friends and their dog and was actually very impressed. The room was kept pretty clean especially given the location in Berkeley. We were surprised at how robust the free breakfast was. They had hot water and coffee available at all times downstairs near the check-in counter but had a breakfast that included almost anything anyone could want including individual yogurts, make your own waffle, some type of egg dish or omelette along with cereals Etc. So for the value and and being able to pay to have their dog stay there it was a great place to be.

Easy to get to right off the interstate, close to everything I Berkeley, easy to get back on the highway to go to other places. Hotel was clean with a helpful staff. The rooms were a bit small but that was just fine with my group. Didn't check out the pool or breakfast but both seemed pretty nice.

Excellent place. Friendly front desk staff. Clean rooms. Very comfortable beds. Too small pillows. Would stay here again.

Doesn't actually allow dogs. Beware. Edit: After the reply I'd like to add that we found an amazing hotel down the road who allowed ALL pets, not just the ones they say their insurance doesn't cover. The Graduate hotel down the road is so much nicer. Dont waste your time or money here.

It's decent but the rooms are absolutely not sound proof. Not even a little. You can hear anyone talking outside in the hallway as if you had the door open. In addition, the bed and wall vibrates some times. Really weird.

The building is a little older but it's clean and you can tell they've done renovations. The room itself was very nice. The materials used were nice. The bed was comfy and there was a microwave and small fridge. The only downside in the room was the TV signal (cable? ) quality was terrible. The included breakfast (more than a continental breakfast) was a pleasant surprise. I think the hotel was a value at list price.

It had free parking which was great but some of the staff had bad attitudes and was lazy… From front desk to cleaning crew. Breakfast was good. Sheets and comforter were stained and when we ask for replacement they brought more stain items. The rates were too expensive for what they had to offer. Cleaning people knock once and quickly opened doors while we were sleeping twice. They didn't wait for a response just walked in… most didn't speak English… Wasn't pleased except for breakfast.

The rooms are clean and well furnished. Location is great, not more than a few minutes drive from several restaurants.

One of the nicest hotels I've stayed at in a very long time. Charming older building with plenty of upgrades. Full breakfast in the morning. No additional charge for my little dog and a very safe neighborhood in which to walk him. I had to downgrade one star sadly because of the noise. There's nothing they can do about their proximity to the freeway and location on University which makes them them very handy but I had a good deal of trouble sleeping.

Pretty much what you'd expect for a 2-star inn. Rooms are decently sized, service does its job, pretty good breakfast with lots of options. Unfortunately, there were a few ants in our bathroom.

I rarely write reviews — but selected this hotel based on location and reviews — however — this is where construction workers stay during the week — upon arrival parking lot had groups of workers drinking and partying outside thier trucks — the desk clerk was nowhere to be found for about 10 minutes — room was ok — next morning found that they double charged — and the second charge was a higher rate… spoke to the desk clerk about it — rude doesn’t describe the attitude — in fact — it was the worst customer service ever encountered. Definitely would avoid this hotel … simply terrible experience… many other places to choose from…

Room was nice and clean. Check in quick and easy. Parking lot filled up quickly and parking in the back is not well lit. Thats why I gave 4 stars. Would definately stay again.

Great place to stay. Clean, quiet, affordable, awesome free breakfast, friendly staff. 10/10 for Matt, the manager, runs the hotel like his own business, always willing to accommodate the guests. My husband has a corporate account here, he wouldn't stay anywhere except the La Qunita, Berkeley. Looking forward to coming back seeing everyone:)

This place has always been clean and the staff friendly and helpful. I have stayed here maybe twice a year for last 3 years, it remains steady.

The staff is great and the suites are pretty nice. The negative part is parking. They run out of spots at night so if you go out after 7-8pm and come back there is usually no parking. They have an entire lot under the building that is unused.

Good place to stay very quite no rude neighbors and for the most part clean. Could use some more attention to clean but very good stay.

It was a comfortable room. It had a nice bathroom and shower. The bed was comfortable. The service was good. The breakfast was good. Overall we enjoyed our quick stay and slept well.

Parking is easy rooms pretty clean they need to vacuum a bit better breakfast was good and roons not to pricy easy to get in and out.

My partner got me a room from overseas, prepaid the whole stay. They wouldn't let me check in because I didn't possess the booking credit card which has to be authorized for a 50 deposit. I offer to pay cash. They don't accept cash?! My partner calls from Norway. They won't accept the card information over the phone. My partner has to fill out a form, print it, sign it, then upload it and a copy of their ID and send it to La Quinta via email. Email! Not a secure medium at all. Upon receiving this information they still wanted to be difficult and rude despite compete cooperation with their ludicrous requests.

Our room was on the 3rd floor, and was kept very clean. I like the free breakfast they have in the morning. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

The place is old but well kept on the inside. Basic necessitiea are provided, everything worked as it should. Free breakfast in the morning are sufficient.

My husband and I recently spent two nights here and had a great experience! Our room looked like it was recently remodeled (including the bathroom) and was beautiful! (Way better than what I was expecting when we first drove up) Walking distance to great restaurants and shops on 4th street and a lovely market just a few minutes drive away! :)

Conveniently located well maintained hotel with pool and gym, attentive staff, convenient late check in. My stay was only one night, but I am sure I will be back.

The location and stay at the La Quinta/Berkeley has been a wonderful experience! The rooms and hotel as a whole are definitely clean and the staff are friendly.

Once again, La Quinta inns impresses me. Rooms were really clean and breakfast was hot and tasty. Even though it's a pet friendly hotel, the rooms do not smell like pets.

It was very clean. The location is very close to downtown Berkeley, which provides access to lots of stores and food. It is also close to 4th Street Berkeley which also has lots of places to shop. Service was great as well. Nothing to complain about.

So I was pleasantly surprised when I first arrived that to bathroom and room was better that I expected. What made my 11 day stay here so bad was getting a room above the hotels laundry which ment every day the room would shake like crazy. The Amtrak station was close enough that you heard the train all night. Now what I hated the most was the house keeping came in my room when I was away for a day with my "do not disturb" on my door. I do not like people coming in my room. I would not recommend anyone staying her.

I just stayed at la quinta in Berkeley and the room was clean but smelled like a lit cigarette. Being a non-smoker and having asthma I woke up at 2 a. M. With a minor asthma attack. As any one who has asthma, they can tell you once you have an attack and hit your inhaler it is hard to fall asleep. So over all my stay was a nightmare because of that. I spoke with a blonde heavyset male general Manger in a red shirt all he told me was "we will catch whoever smoked in the hotel. " (that doesn't do anything for me). Also they did not give me the aaa discount. This was my 3rd time at a la quinta and probably won't want to return to one.

This Laquinta is old school & kinda in a sketch neighborhood BUT extremely convenient & the staff is excellent! The bathrooms have been remodeled & the beds were clean & cozy. I am a Laquinta returns member & was having trouble applying my stay 2 my account but Ayoe @ the front desk handled it professionally & promptly & very friendly. I only gave a 4 star because elevator was broken & the soda machine ate my money.

The hotel was clean and cozy. It looks as though they have recently remodeled the bathrooms. The location looked rough but it was not too loud at night. The bed was nice and soft.

Rough hotel for a LA Quinta. Room was updated, but every thing and one that I dealt with was not quite working.

Usally I like LQ but this is a ratty building with no AC in a pretty run down neighborhood. I would have moved hotels if everything wasn't booked up already. Next time I'll cancle my trip rather than stay there. I've paid half asuch for rooms 5 times better.

How can a hotel room have no ESPN? Just asking.

I stayed here 12/07/14 for the week. The rain came the lights went out. The whole staff were amazingly great. Even though customers were yelling at them because the banks power was out and no cards could be used. I can say they made my stay supper great. I am coming back for 5 more days next week again. Thank you Berkley La Quinta Staff. For being so professional.

"do not disturb" = "go ahead and step around my dog and take my bath towels without cleaning the entire room and don't even replace the towels you took".

This place sucks No towels, face towels or wash cloths. When we asked for some we were told they were out. Also no soap or shampoo Old, remodeled, but done as cheaply as possible. Low rent part of Berkly. Never, Never again.

I don't understand the bad reviews. La Quinta is for my taste all right. The buffet is great, there is free Wi-Fi (it may not be called while high speed, because so many use the Internet), and rooms are also the pool also quite alright.

Stayed here for two nights, thought the hotel was clean, quiet, safe. The shower in the room was accommodating to tall individuals, which was nice. The room had a fridge and a microwave. Towels were fairly scratchy though, and the hotel has seen a little wear. Breakfast bar was probably the best I've experienced in my travels. Outdoor pool looked nice, though I didn't have time to experience it. Overall, for the price and location, I would certainly recommend this place.

They only had smoking rooms left in spite of our reservation request for non-smoking, but we had little option but to take it. The stink of smoke wasn't even the worst of it, the worst was that the air conditioner was out of repair and therefore very, very noisy. Overall a terrible experience, and we left after one night. This motel needs renovation.
