You can tell they are trying to fix it up. Nice furniture and clean, nice sheets. The floor is a cheap laminate — was expecting carpet. The bathroom at the entrance of the room, which was weird. And the bathtub was odd. Parking right in front of the room. Patio goes directly over to the pool. Lots of apartments surrounding.

Love the quaintness of this lodge/motel. When we arrived early and our room was ready. Located near beach trail and across the street from a park. Walk from here to fisherman's wharf or aquarium if you like the trail. Conviently located to the best areas on MB. Nice heated pool and spa. Quaint room, someone called them dated I would not have said that about this lodge. No air conditioning but room had a fan in the closet it if you needed it, no central heating either but wall unit available. Bed was comfortable although on small side. No space in room, with closet and fridge. Parking in front of our room. Safe area.

Nice little hotel. Friendly staff. Comfy beds. Heated pool with a hot tub. Close to local attractions.

A New Favorite Place! — On arrival I was met with a courteous check-in. I arrived just a bit early — but my room was made ready rather quickly. Bed was way comfy and soft. The shower was a bit overwhelming and I had to be careful turning on as the way the shower head was pointed it sprayed directly into the rest of the bathroom… but other than that — spacious bathroom. The restaurant opened at 7 am — so it was nice to wake up and walk just a few steps to a great breakfast.! And with the ocean access right across the street… Definitely a place to stay again.!

Had a clean room with great service and cafe is right next door plus park right across street. Lts nice if you have childern. Pool clean and fresh. For sure l will come again.

The rooms are clean and the prices are reasonable. The internet kind of sucks but it works. There is minimal parking and breakfast isn't included. It's close to a park and fisherman's warf.

Good value for the price. Aircraft noise seems to be audible during the day; Pool is currently being Just renovated.

For the weekend you can relax, there is a swimming pool, across the street there is a beautiful park and ocean.

First, it's a motel, not a hotel. The rooms were fine, if a bit dated. Ours had a brand new enormous TV in it, and having a mini fridge in the room was nice.

Great location for easy downtown access. We liked being across the lake from the park. I didn't love the beds, but the room was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. I would book again and was excited to see they offer family rooms with bunk beds.

So close to everything! We've stayed here twice now, the pool is heated and the spa is very private. Rooms are decent. We've had a regular room, a fire place room and the suite. Stayed with my wife once and another time with the kids. We will be back as we love Monterey and this hotel. The prices are awesome too.

Hotel was not bad; the walls are a little thin but nothing too bad. Room was clean, had all the amenities you would need and the front desk staff was very friendly. Prices were reasonable as well.

Wanted to make a last minute trip down to Monterey and this hotel was perfect! Was very reasonably priced and was in a good location (very short drive from cannery row and from downtown). The room was great, had a king size bed, a big tv, and a fireplace. Added bonus they had a great breakfast restaurant right next door. We would stay again!

Older property but well maintained. Stayed 1 night in an upstairs room that faces Lake St. Room has a water closet with the sink next to the front door. Sliding glass door leads to the shared balcony (guests can walk by, and see in your room) that overlooks the pool area.

Love its heated pool. Older property but nicely renovated. Will return again.

This is hands down the best presented motel we have stayed in. It's not the most modern motel however it certainly is the cleanest. The team are super helpful and you can tell the business is 110% customer focused at every touch point. Well done and thank you for the great visit. Great location & pool area.

Prices for an overnight single room were within a reasonable price range for the area. Services with the hotel included a small pool and spa. Rooms contained all basic luxuries with coffee machine included. Bathrooms were not 100% clean and there was a lack of some essential bathroom products. Access to car parking was easy. Access to other equipment was required to ask at the front.

Rooms are much nicer inside than the hotel looks like from the outside. Really actually very nice. The location is really convenient to head to the beach, walking distance. A very short trip over to fisherman's warf or cannery row.

Just across the street from the beach, in a quiet part of Monterey. The room was very nice — clean and comfortable. Breakfast was at the Bay Cafe and Cantina next door in a large, cheerful, colorful space where my husband says the huevos rancheros were the best he'd ever eaten. If we ever find ourselves back in Monterey, we'll definitely stay here again!

The gentleman who took my reservation over the phone was very kind. Gave us a very nice room and was helpful. The room was very cute and clean. Even had courteousy water bottles in the fridge for us. I loved it as it is in a good location and its very nice. I will definitely be coming back to this place.

Nice hotel in a good location. Wi-Fi and free parking. Breakfast was good, too, and found a table with a nice view of the lake.

Wonderfully clean rooms great service! there name is embossed on their toilet paper which is ridiculously amazing! they have ribbon with their name on it super fancy and a great price! For sure staying here again!

Great location that is quiet with a lovely view, very clean rooms with a comfortable bed, well-priced with amenities (iron and ironing board, blow dryer, nice-sized bathtub, etc), and friendly staff.

I liked the convenience of the lodge to the wharf, row, and I also went to Carmel beach which was not far from here either. Like the fact that it has a fridge too but the lack of air conditioning sucks… I'm. Pregnant… comfy beds and clean rooms. I would stay again.

This place has really spacious, clean rooms. The bed was comfortable, a little on the soft side but you should be able to get a good night's rest. I liked the fact that the walls are fairly thick so you don't hear your neighbours. Having a microwave and a fridge helps with dealing with leftovers so that's useful. Saw some people using the pool so if you're looking for a quick swim, this is a great place to consider. The location is not the best, it's a little bit away from fisherman's wharf and a little too dark to walk there at night. If you're driving then this isn't an issue. Check out this place, it's one of the better motels I've stayed at.

We stayed at Monterey Bay Lodge in July, 2012. It was a great experience — — the staff was super friendly and helpful, the rooms and facilities were nice (the upgraded rooms are really nice), and the price was very affordable, especially compared with the big hotels along Cannery Row. Also, there's free parking. Note that this is fundamentally a budget motel, not a fancy resort, but it's a really, nice, well-run budget motel. Other notes: Location: Yes, it's a long walk to the aquarium, but there's a nice pedestrian/bike trail that runs along the coast and makes the walk much easier. Easy walk to Fisherman's Wharf, the Presidio, and the Convention Center, where you can catch the free tourist shuttle bus up to Cannery Row. By car, it's very easy to get back to Route One, which is nice for day trips. Kids: This is a good place to stay with kids. The staff is helpful, the pool is kid-friendly, and you're about two blocks from the beach and the Dennis the Menace playground. All of the rooms have mini-fridges and microwaves, which helps for picky eaters. Food: The on-site restaurant is closed (not sure why), so the only on-site food is from vending machines.

Small, simple, clean, Quality, done right. It is minutes from the aquarium, across from the most awesome kids park ever, and convenient to downtown/wharfs while not being in a mess of one-way streets. Super convenient to hwy 1. The room was clean, smelled faintly of chlorine, well stocked, even had organic free-trade coffee and half-n-half, odorless fridge and microwave, safe, laundry bag, full-sized ironing board and iron. The free Wi-Fi was a smidge slow, but easy to use and free. You could hear the people in the next room, and the little frosted windows let in light, but if you are staying there, you are probably up early, active during the day, and tired at night. The mattress was a big wiggly when anyone moved on it, but okay if you stay still. Worth the money, and I would stay there again. Went in December, so didn't use the pool, but the area was clean and the whole place had immaculate landscaping. Overall, it is a small space in a hotel saturated city that could easily be let go just like most places of the size and type, but it is done very well and maintained very well. I couldn't find a single thing wrong with it, and I am picky. Oh, and the little restaurant attached was fine for breakfast, nothing special, but convenient. And you can buy two days for the price of one aquarium tickets at the front desk.

I love this place, my wife and I come here year after year and are never disappointed. Friendly service and good clean rooms.

We spent our mini honeymoon here (due to school I have to wait til summer for the big one). The room was clean though some of the grout was stained from the coffee machine and there was a little bit of mildew under the lip of the shower. The shower was tiny, I'm a size 14/5'7 and if I put my hands behind my head, my elbows touched the walls of the triangle shaped enclosure. The room itself was also a bit small but for a room in monterey you couldn't ask for better without paying three times the amount if not more. The staff was wonderful, the hot tube was nice and the pool is heated but still cool rather than like the hot tube but it did have leaves in it. The place is within walking distance of fisherman's warf, even for two out of shape late 20 somethings who spent the previous six hours on their feet at the aquarium and being located next to the little park area and just across from the ocean it was lovely. No breakfast but free parking and Wi-Fi, and parking in Monterey is around $15 everywhere else, even the beach.
