Stayed 2 nights in a double queen room with fireplace. While the doorways seemed small the rooms were surprisingly spacious. While not the most up to date the room was clean and bed comfortable. They have a microwave in room which surprisingly is not included in some of the other places to stay in the area. There is a beach right across the street that my kid loved running around on. The aquarium is easily within walking distance with plenty of shops to keep you distracted on the way to and from. Would stay again.

The room was a double queen with fireplace. The room was clean and spacious. The overall look was pleasant, but the room lacked electrical outlets. Also, know that on the bottom floor, you will notice the people walking around upstairs. The location was perfect for my family's needs.

Last minute booking. Great location if you're visiting the aquarium or going on a whale watching tour departing from fisherman's wharf. Found a fantastic last minute rate. Included free parking, free Wi-Fi, and a gas fireplace inside the room. The mini balcony overlooks the bike/walk path. Other rooms have an ocean view from 2 blocks uphill. Functional stay at a great price. Would recommend the hotel if it meets your needs. Enjoy!

Great room, spacious and clean, nice beds and very quite. Loved it!

Photos on the website were extremely misleading. This is an OLD hotel with outdoor hallways. The heat is an old wall unit. There are scuffs in the walls everywhere. Holes in the ceiling. Housekeeping CAME INTO OUR ROOM 3 TIMES UNANNOUNCED as we were packing to leave. No knocks or anything. What if I was naked!?!?! They held my $50 deposit for 2 months. I would not stay again nor would I recommend. Fpr the price you pay stay on the ocean.

The location is very good, right off of Canery Row. Service was nice, the room was pretty clean, beds were just okay. The floors were a bit thin, so we could hear people walking on the level above us. Parking was free, but seemed limited; probably not enough to support a fully booked hotel. The service was great, and the price was right.

Staff was super nice, hotel is located walking distance from the piers and aquarium. Very nice rooms for the price.

Unfortunately one star, should be zero. Bed bugs, location was ok, close enough and walking distance to the aquarium and the fisherman's wharf but come on bed bugs are a deal breaker, my 6 year old is covered in bites and hurting. Vacation ruined : (

After checking in we went to the room and found out the bed wasn't going to work for my wife because of back surgery she had. We ask for a refund but were denied by the OWNER because my wife laid on the bed and said they couldn't re-sell it! Should of known from the LOW STAR RATING! 0 RATING IF I COULD!

Location is the best reason to purchase here. We walked the entire time of our stay. The room itself was modest. The AC unit did not work but there was a fan provided. We also left the sliding door to the balcony open providing the cool sea breeze. The beach view we had wasn't panoramic but still really nice to see.

I wouldn't even give this hotel one star but I had to pick one in order to leave this post. Six months ago we visited Monterey and had a great time. The hotel was nice put together staff was friendly breakfast was good. Thinking I would have the same service, breakfast, hospitality. I booked again for this last weekend in February. When I got there I asked about breakfast and they said they took that away. Okay not a deal-breaker but it was nice to have breakfast. We check in and got our same hotel room thinking cool it was a nice room the first time had booked a great Mirror full length mirror. The room was put together nice. Well not this time the room was not put together there was spackle all over the walls, holes in the bathroom door, door hinge frame separated from being kicked in, and the light fixtures over the bathroom were a mess. They had a picture covering a square hole in the wall to cover the space for unknown reasons not even sure what the space was for. Also the sink would not drain so when you were just brushing your teeth or when I was washing my face the sink filled did not drain and you had to turn the water off wait about 10 minutes and then it finally drained. The water pressure in the room was atrocious it would be hard pressure for a minute and then like it was raining trickling water on you. Not sure what's going on or why this happened but our first visit was way better than our last visit.

It's ok. Short walk to the aquarium you can take the trail or cannery row itself. Great for families since they do have a fridge and microwave in the room. Breakfast is not included. You get what you pay for.

Nice little motel (fireplace in the room! ). Good breakfast included. Employees at the reception seem bored to work. Parking on site. Great location.

Great hotel to stay at been when ever I stay in Monterey I always stay here clean rooms, right next to cannery row friendly staff and perfect beach view.

A little dated, but an excellent value and location. Our first room was right next to the elevator, which made a lot of noise, but the staff was very helpful and accommodating when we asked to change rooms halfway through our stay to get away from the elevator.

Well located to cannery row, nice park and shops nearby. Room with fireplace is amazin. Good value!

Cozy and family friendly. Definitely the cheaper route to go but you are right on the beach and super close to all the shops. I would stay again.

Best price I have ever seen for a block away from the ocean. Beautiful area, office Tennant at night when I checked in was very friendly. I like that my room has a little patio.

Great location, great price, room a little small.

A mere block from Cannery Row. Older building but they've kept it updated. We had a good sized king bed room with a partial bay view and gas fireplace that rocked the heat. We kept the sliding glass door open during the night to let the surf and occasional sea lion bark lull us to sleep.

Comfortable beds, friendly people… Breakfast was a joke… 3 cereals, no actual milk, only almond milk and soy milk… One type of bread and small bagels.

For a quick weekend getaway it'd be hard to find a better located and simultaneously well priced hotel during the Summer months. The staff was nice, the room was clean, and I felt safe. The fireplace and coffee maker worked, and the tiling in the shower was pretty cool. On the flip side the walls are thin, the doors slam loudly, and there was a weird oily film on the tabletops and furniture. All of the walls and furniture were missing paint or were banged up a bit. I enjoyed my stay and I'll keep it in mind the next time I go to Monterey.

Great place to stay! My room was lovely, nice vaulted ceiling, elegant furnishings, and very comfortable. The location is great. It is right at the end of Cannery Row, near a beautiful park on the beach. You can walk down Cannery row to get to the aquarium. The shops and sites along the row are super fun and the walk isn't very long. For such a nice room in such a great location, the price is great. Compared to other nearby hotels, this is the best deal by far, and still a comfortable place to stay.

This hotel is beautiful. My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights in the king fireplace suite. The room was spacious and we had a view of the ocean. The beds are comfortable and the bedsheets were soft. For the breakfast selection, they had a waffle maker which was impressive. Apple juice and orange juice along with milk were offered, Cereals and pastries. It is located just about in the middle of fisherman's wharf and the aquarium. We hardly had to use my car. Unfortunately I had to mark it down one star. Our fire alarm went off everytime we tried to use our fireplace. I'm glad the alarms work though. I would suggest asking for another room if youre placed next to the laundry room. We were woken up both mornings due to the maids conversations outside our door. Other than that our stay here was lovely. Definitely would stay here again.

Appearance of the room was neat and aesthetically pleasing. The fireplace was easy to use and effectively heated the room to the desired temperature. And there was a pleasant view of the water from the balcony. The water pressure left something to be desired, and the open passageway was quite cold for this time of year. And lastly the breakfast was rather quaint and there was little to no syrup left for the self made waffles.

Great location, awesome staff and the price was well below the other local options. The room was comfortable I had a balcony and a fireplace.

It was quiet and comfy but wasn't what the internet said still enjoyed our stay the staff was nice and curtious.

Awesome location, walking distance to all the main attractions in downtown Monterey. Situated directly in front of the running/biking trail that runs all the way through Pacific Grove (making for an incredible early morning route). Free breakfast is so-so in a small space. The rooms were great though. Nice bathroom, fireplace, small little balcony to get some fresh air. This is a perfectly enjoyable spot to experience Monterey while not spending lots of money on accomodations.

Definitely exceeded expectations really good bang for your buck. Nice rooms, friendly staff, surprisingly good breakfast.

Clean, good location, friendly staff, good parking. Breakfast good. Only complaint was odd smell in room and the rooms exit directly outside without an indoor hallway.

Best price within walking distance to the Aquarium! Sliding glass window in 108 rattles, but room was otherwise in good shape. Reception was friendly and helpful. Parking is free.

I usually stay at this place and enjoy it but these last few times was the worst experience ever! We recently stayed for one night because they are doing construction it was so loud they started construction at 6 am they never told us about the construction! When I went and told the front we were out until 2:30am and we wanted to sleep in and woke up do to construction they told us the construction started at 8am! That was a lie they started at 6am! They did not give a refund! It's so loud u can't enjoy ur stay with the loud construction! This will go on for a year and a half I was told by the front lady at the desk! I'd rather pay extra money and stay elsewhere the construction is very very loud.

I loved it. My husband surprised me with a trip to Monterey in November and booked a room here. We were on the second floor and weren't able to see the beach as well as the room next to us, but we had a wonderful time. I would say the second floor is better and we couldn't hear our neighbors at all. The only downside, which isn't the hotel's fault in any way, were the sea lions that I could hear all night long. Best perks were the fireplace in our room and the continental breakfast. Great location and easy access to everything on Cannery Row.

Not great, passable at best. Price is OK but the rest is not so great.

Good price. Nice place right by the water. Not super fancy and the rooms aren't that big, but the fireplace was really nice and everything was very cozy. Gotta love the free breakfast, too. Had tons of the pineapple. Lol Heard weird bird noises in our hall in the morning — sounded like some kind of exotic birds got in and were fighting. My girl and I love animals, so we just thought it was funny. But be aware of your potential visitors! Even if you don't get a room with the view, you get a great view from the hallways upstairs of the water.

I also purchased a Groupon and stayed this last weekend. The reviews below gave me second thoughts, but I thought I would risk it. I have seen false reviews before, I believe the ones below are just plain false. First off, I find no merit in the bed bug claim. The young man at the front desk was very polite, accommodating, and made some great suggestions on dining, sightseeing, etc. The room was very cozy, clean, and the views were terrific. The location is outstanding! The bed was very comfortable, free Wi-Fi, microwave, refrigerator, endless hot water, the free breakfast was great! Easy parking, and everyone on the staff were very pleasant. I would definitely stay again.

Don't stay here — listen to my review and save yourself grief! we got a coupon on groupon, bad move, First off, hallways look like a horror movie, room walls were dirty. TV made a ringing noise in our room and fridge dripped water noise all night long I tried calling the front desk no one picked up the phone, glad to know if you have an emergency that they are there, ha! And the big kicker. When we checked in, they asked for card and drivers license, we checked out next day at the front desk and about three hours later the hotel calls our cell and said the maid found my license in the room, I never took it to the room, they just didn't give it back and the girl at the front desk said we would have to charge you to mail it back, I said it can be put in an envelope with a 45 cent stamp are you kidding me? Especially when they never gave it back and had two opportunities to do so, So its obvious they make money doing this to clients. The hotels response was the supervisor was sick and not available and manager wouldn't call me until they came in at 3, Really? Don't put yourself thru any kind of hell, this place is bad news — I cant imagine me telling my bride that, that is beyond horrible service and this place deserves to close down.
