Stayed here when they were shooting the Amazon show Goliath Season 2 with Billy Bob Thornton. He actually stays in the hotel while they’re filming and he is the coolest guy ever. I even got a pet in the show as an extra in a couple episodes for continuity. Great show also. Check it out. Season 2 came out today on Amazon Prime.

Great location. Staff was really friendly and nice. They have coffee and snacks in the lobby. My family really liked the rooms. Will be returning next year!

I normally don't share negative experiences because I try to give places a chance. Let me give some background first for better understanding of the current review. It would be about two weeks ago approximately, and my daughter and grand kids stayed at this place as a resting point until their final destination. I wanted to help my daughter enjoy herself along with the grand kids and so I made a call to the man who handles reservations. I wanted to pay for half of my daughters stay at this place and was going to charge this on a credit card. He shared with me that I would have to fill out an authorization form etc (was going to email to me). I told him I would go ahead and debit this instead since it was instant. Long story short, he did not do that, and took all of my debit card information. My daughter said they still charged her account the full amount. I then checked my account, and they had not debited my account, yet had all my information plus security code. It is June 5th, and I just called them to find out what happened, and concerned about who took my debit card information. I told him I was concerned about my card information, and he proceeds to verbally tell me " would you let me speak" I had not interrupted him at all, and I told him" hold on, you don't have to be rude" and he mumbled something and hung up on me. Warning, I think there is some theft going on with stealing credit card numbers, I will be calling the police now.

Over charged me about $200 from advertised price on the internet and what I was quoted on the phone. Much nicer hotels which ended up being cheaper close to the water to stay at.

Ok room. The bed was a bit hard. Good location.

Older Motel from 50's but all new amenities and decorated very nice. Very clean and roomy. The front desk personel extremely friendly and helpful. Alex was a great front desk host! Only 1 block from Santa Monica Pier and all the action on the Beach. A hidden jewel. Not many available rooms though.

Really great place and great staff great surroundings and great weather everything was great just great great great great great apary from my state of mind thats not great its far from great in fact you are starting to grate on me you great great mithertron.

We are returning guests and loved it. Herman in the front is so amazing. He gave us a grocery list of places for food around the area that were amazing, btw. They treated us well on our honeymoon, too. The rooms are cozy, it's near the beach, near all the amazing food places, close to the pier, all the percs. I really can't give this place a bad review… the only thing is the parking. It's small. We chose driving our cx-9 Mazda vs our lifted chevy and it was still kind of cramped. So don't bring any extra large vehicles! But we walked well over 20 miles in 2 days so you really don't need your vehicle anyways. Thank you Ocean Lodge! We are already planning our next trip.

Nice Retro Motel, GREAT LOCATION To The Beach and Pier, Room Is Modernized, Paid Parking… All Parking In Santa Monica is Paid.

Good stop for one night. Not too pricey for santa monica.

Nice clean rooms, friendly service, 5 minute walk to pier.

Clean room, no air-conditioning, odd check-in procedure, very noisy at night. You can stay at many other places for the same price and get so much more.

Great distance from beach areas and clean cozy rooms!

The hotel was very nice, and only about a five minute walk to and from the beach. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, and it's very central to many restaurants, the pier, and things to do. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, the heat and AC were great, the only thing that wasn't so great was the shower head, there was barely any pressure, and the mattress was firm, which can be a good thing and a bad thing based on preference. Overall a great experience, and great place to stay.

Clean, basic rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Busy street location, but very close to the pier and Santa Monica Place for shopping.

Good location. Small rooms. Wi-Fi is decent parking is a joke 24 bucks minimum spots. Or park in lot next door and carry bags. Floor was sticky towels left white fuZz balls on you.

Nice MOTEL (It's defiantly not a hotel)

Okay location. Terrible parking situation. They advertise "fast Wi-Fi", what an absolute joke. You can barely get anything to load on a phone or computer at any time of the day or night. They have the most basic of cable TV, so the only reliable thing you can do at night is flip through the channels as you sit and ponder why you chose to stay at this archaic hotel.

Convenient location. Great staff. Nice rooms. Small towels. Cute soaps.

Close to beach, clean, ok Wi-Fi (10/2), some relaxed guests outside, great location specially considering the price. Nothing exceptional.

The location and proximity to the pier and restaurants is good. Only a short walk away. The room was nice. Older, but still functioning. My biggest complaint was the parking situation. It is very limited. I had driven my truck, and was instructed to park two blocks away. For a small fee ($5), I received a card to use to get in and out of the garage. When I traveled to the garage, the card was voided, so I pulled a ticket. When I went back to the front desk, the receptionist was nice and understanding, but another individual, was very rude and questioned me on if I did everything right and used the proper garage. The next day when I left the garage, I had to pay $5. The front desk was closed, so I was never able to get reimbursed. Overall, the stay was okay, but the customer service with the parking situation has soured my experience.

Cozy room, walk to the beach just a minute.

This hotel is also close to the Santa Monica Pier and Third Street Promenade, it is a convenient location. Not bad.

Ok like many others I travel all the time and can stay wherever I want, within reason. I choose IHG hotels for several reasons however Santa Monica does not have any IHG hotels? so I found this place and although being somewhat primitive as far as modern day hotels go it's just average. The ac was ok when I finally figured out the system, decent shower, although antiquated bathroom. And yes as someone else stated in there review the door lock was a standard key like we used in 1960, remember those… haha, actually we didn't lock the doors then unless we went on vacation. Didn't have to. I regress… So I put in for one night thinking I'd finish my task at hand but realized I'd need another day so I left my stuff in the room, clothes, computer, ect Upon arrival after work I found I was locked out of my room! the deadbolt was locked down hard. I go to the office and to my surprise there's no one there. While I was paying for parking in the lot next door so as not to acquire a parking ticket due to little to no parking on hotel property. (You Def wont get a full grown pickup in there) The desk girl reappeared to inform me that I was ejected from my room because I only planned on being there one day. Folks, I'm not used to this type of service, or Anti service.

Because of the nature of my work, which involves a lot of traveling, I have had the opportunity to stay in hotels of all ranges, from 5-star ones to inexpensive motels. However, I can say with all my experience that the Ocean Lodge Hotel is by far the worst one I have had the misfortune of staying in. Did you know of any hotels in the US that still uses actual keys instead of Access Cards to open the room doors in year 2014? Well, neither did I, until I came across this place. As soon as I entered, I found myself in a room about the size of my apartment's kitchen. The bathroom was like a public restroom in State Park. There was rust all over the small cupboard above the washbasin. There was hardly any furniture in the room to even keep my stuff. And I quickly realized my foolishness, when I expected a Microwave and a small refrigerator in the room. In simplest terms, you pay a huge amount here to stay in something worse than a Project! I wouldn't ever stay at this place, even if someone paid me to do so. Absolutely disgusting place!

The location is excellent, the value is the best in the area BUT: 1) Bring ear plugs, the building is on busy Ocean ave. There are no other buildings on either side to block any of the street noise. The noise isn't terrible but it's omnipresent. I slept soundly with the foam earplugs I always carry. 2) Parking sucks. The spaces are very small. Hard to get in and out. Not the place for an SUV. Overall would recommend the Ocean Lodge. You don't stay here to spend the time in your room. The location is excellent.
