Good value and centrally located.

Saw online that this hotel was haunted. I spook easily and was anticipating overreacting to every little sound I heard but alas, nothing. I slept like a baby and woke up refreshed and ready to start my day. Added bonus… AMAZING water pressure in the shower.

Fantastic old Hotel get the larger rooms specially if your stopping a few days.

I recommend only if you are looking for a nostalgic ambiance and a very firm bed. So, we're staying overnight at the Historic Hollywood Hotel. The place is quaint. Room is small, feels like a comfy bedroom. Michael at the front desk is great. AC unit in the window is great for me because it drowns out the street noise. The Windows don't have screens so unless we want the camping experience… Anyway the only real drawback is the rock hard bed. I think I'll wake Wifeypoo and suggest we just go home to our memory foam.

Michael at the front desk is awesome! Great source of information about the area and places to eat. The hotel is older but well maintained. Charm everywhere you look. Restaurant has good food and great blues and jazz entertainment on Saturday evenings. I highly recommend this place.

Great service and great staff, this hotel was perfect to stay at E3 for a budget and secure trip using public transportation. Rooms are plenty of space if you are going to be outside most of the time. Very quiet and relaxing beds. Room service was punctual and very clean. You also need to see where to have a breakfast.

Nice hotel. The receptionist was very nice… area was a little sketchy as you drove up but there were nice places to eat only a few blocks away. Good hotel if you dont need the extras of a newer hotel.

Such a beautiful little hotel, the service from the staff there was amazing. They really went above and beyond in my opinion, they had so much local knowledge. The bar attached to was amazing and the food too, would highly recommend checking this place out.

If you're looking for an old, cramped, rundown place to stay, then Hollywood Historic is the place for you. My room was tiny. The bathroom even smaller. Nowhere to put my makeup bag except in the sink! The room needed to be updated. The air conditioner needed to be replaced. I get that it's a historic building, but it was really just old. Neat framed celeb photos on the walls in the hallways though and the conceirge was pleasant enough… There is a parking lot that you can pay $18 a night to park your car in. They don't tell you that until you check in. While the location is convenient to downtown Hollywood, I don't think I would stay there again.

We really enjoyed this hotel. Our room was nice with a view of the Hollywood sign and the griffith park observatory. Really nicely done restoration. The staff were all so helpful and friendly. Conveniently located.

I travel often for work so my home away from home tends to be a hotel room. I selected Hollywood Historic because I love historical architecture and they just so happened to be one of the better values in LA. During my stay, the room was clean and well-stocked. There are some trade offs in staying in historic hotels vs modern ones: bad AC window unit, small room, etc, but it was still a great stay. The front desk team, Michael and Betty, specifically, were perhaps the friendliest and most knowledgeable front desk staff I’ve ever worked with. They are ready and willing to help you plan your itinerary and made me feel like a close friend. The customer service will make or break your hotel experience, and this one shines. Will be staying here next time I’m in the LA area.

Good price for the area, and cute hotel. Though the rooms are small, it is a piece of history from the roaring twenties. If you can appreciate that, you'll certainly appreciate walking around the halls and the historical architecture that survives through this beautiful edifice.

A pretty okay stay for the price. I was booked here for a work trip but likely won't be staying here again. The rooms were appointed like a mid-90's Holiday Inn and the bathrooms were on par with a NYC studio apartment. That said, it was clean and safe with a bit old school charm. The hotel bar, The Edmon stole the show. I grabbed a late night bite and had one of the best half roasted chickens I've ever had. I'd recommend spending the extra fifty bucks and getting a nicer hotel a few blocks away.

Very nice historical hotel on the Hollywood theme, overlooking the famous Hill, and a very nice old bar. The staff are welcoming and considerate, and the rooms have kept the charm of yesteryear.

Overall, I'd stay here again. The staff were friendly, the place itself is quite beautiful, and it was comfortable. They had a space heater and a window A/C unit so we could control the temperature to our comfort, the king bed was firm which was great for me and my bad back, and there was a mini fridge and free Wi-Fi which is always a plus in my book. Yes, you pay for daily parking, but to have a guaranteed place to park everyday is worth it. The small size of the room wasn't really an issue, the only downside of it came with the shower, which was just very cramped with the cheap shower curtain because it kept trying to stick to me, if there were a heavier curtain or a sliding glass door it wouldn't have been as much of an issue. To end on a positive, their little old-fashioned elevator might not be the most practical thing if you've got piles of luggage, but it's fun to experience a little bit of "history"!

Excellent hotel. Staff very friendly and professional, the rooms very clean and well ordered with very comfortable beds, excellent hygiene in the bathrooms a little small but outside of that is perfect.
Besides that the hotel has an outdated touch which makes it very attractive, plus that to be hotel Wi-Fi is fast and good.

Me and my husband stayed there in last week of February for couple of nights. I had my doubts about this place when I read mixed reviews but this place is exactly what I was looking for. Cozy, beautiful interiors and gem of a place. The manager was very helpful and friendly. Yes the rooms are really small as it's a restored building but we didnt mind it. Lift was working properly and there was no odd smell. We loved it.

Very cute little hotel in a busy area. The staff was really nice. I love that's it's a smaller hotel. I like the old Hollywood look it has to it. The rooms are really small, but it wasn't a deal breaker. We didn't spend too much time at the hotel until the last day. The price is great! We've stayed out here twice. Close to places to eat and is close to the freeway. The parking lot is really small too, but we never had an issue finding parking. Overall great stay.

Very nice hotel in old style. Centrally located in Hollywood. Unfortunately the bathroom in our room was very small, to turn almost no space.

No microwave available in the entire hotel and staff does not care enough to know where the nearest one us located. Parking is $18 per day and not disclosed until you show up! Uncomfortable bed, hotel smells of chemicals and staff will not provide any extra pillows or blankets.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location is great, right outside of Hollywood, so it's quiet. Rooms were well kept during the day. I will be staying here again.

Excellent care of Resepcionistas. Cleanliness and attention very good avitan very nice and overlooking the city has a bar will eat excellent. I'm going super happy.

The parking is very convenient. The fee may seem high, but you wouldn't be able to find much cheaper in this area and it's worth it. The lobby is grand and the customer service was wonderful. It really takes you back in time. The bed was huge and very comfortable. I'd highly recommend it.

The Hotel is full of character and beautiful pictures of Hollywood actors from the past. The Edmon bar is one of a kind, amazing cocktails and the food is not bad. Michael is great at reception. Location is good and the hotel has its own parking ($18 / night). The rooms are outdated but clean, the shower had adequate water pressure. I had an electrical problem in the room and it was fixed promptly. Wifi worked well.

Beautiful, old classic. Supposedly haunted too! It's perfect for what we wanted and needed, right near paramount studios and Hollywood's tourist attractions.

Fantastic place to stay in, all the staff here are super friendly & helpful (especially Michael & the Manageress), would def come back again! Although doesn't serve breakfast, there are plenty of options in the nearby area (suggest getting an Uber or Lyft for only a few dollars). "The Edmon" restaurant downstairs is incredible for service, food & Art Deco style; an absolute must if you're thinking of staying here. Thank you to the whole team for your hospitality & making us feel welcome :)

Simple hotel with all the necessities. Front facing rooms get a lot of traffic but you can see the Hollywood sign and it's not bad as long as you're not a light sleeper. You can usually request what side you prefer.

The rooms are cozy nostalgic feels like you're going into the past days of Hollywood. Location is close to any and everything you want to do. Service was great no complaints.

Very well located hotel — who like it classic and on show etc. Refuse can be right here — cafes to the FS are within walking distance. A great bar with dinner in the hotel as well as an Italian next door — probably popular in the LA scene — younger people — Buse & M. Sunset BLVD and Hollywood BLVD within walking distance — but also Santa Monica Beach and Chinaviertel etc. With Bus Day Ticket 7USD convenient. The bed is gloriously given the view to the Hollywood sign to the side of the road for that a little louder and the back uninstalled and quiet — nice staff — so again and again — but beware LA is expensive and at times is rigged with hidden costs e. G. If only net prices are awarded it will be TAX service fees and etc. TAto-buckle can quickly account for 30% more!

We really liked the hotel, restaurant, look of it all. I would love to stay again, if they get new mattresses! They are definitely an original! Sheets were scratchy, that was a first. Ice machine was broke, gas station across the street does not carry ice either! So a few bumps in the road but overall we loved it! Beautiful lobby and outside as well. And loved all the old black and white photos too. The best part was looking at that Hollywood sign! It was surreal for sure!

Far from the Metro but very quaint and comfortable. In the norm, the one who gains in beauty loses it with distance from public transport.

I would stay again but some updates would be nice too the actual rooms. The bathroom toilet was really tiny. The restaurant that's connected to the hotel has fantastic food options and specialty cocktails. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

Beautiful and fairly quiet. AC can't keep up, so bit warm during day. Corner room so getting sun on both sides, could be the reason. Water temp a bit temperamental. Staff is great. Overall great place for the price and location.

Room are very nice, clean and comfortable. They just remodeled and the onsite restaurant Edmon' has great food and a large bar.

The front desk man was very nice and helpful. The room is not too big but it's fine for just sleep. The bathroom is small but if you are going to use it just for a shower and a couple of times there's no matter.

It is what it is! A beautiful old building with helpful staff and minimal room accessories. A tea bag and a kettle might be nice.

Rooms were clean and recently renovated. Front desk staff were nice and helpful. Location was fine, in between downtown and Sunset strip but not walking distance to either. It is a great 3 start hotel that appears to be continuing to improve. I would stay there again.

Great place to stay for our first visit. Was conveniently located, inexpensive, clean, quaint, and friendly service. And the best Colombian restaurant down the street… Rooms and bathroom small because it's an old style building, but if that doesn't matter to you then definitely worth it!

Quaint Hotel is very comfortable. Located in Merlose, then close enough to Hollywood BLV, served by means of transport.
Within walking distance of the Hotel you can find breakfast bars and lunch open 24h and minimarket. Friendly and helpful staff to schedule guided tours.

The lobby is super nice and retro. The rooms need to be updated and this place is gonna be great. An awesome historic spot that could use some attention.

$18 parking fee (not mentioned anywhere until you get here, no continental breakfast) nice room, clean, central to all of hollywood. Best cheap option in area, cool historic building, front desk lady is nice. $18 parking fee, though? this is not disneyland nor the hilton.

Location of the hotel pretty good and the price affordable considering the place, however, it is worth noting that the hotel is not exceptional. The rooms are noisy because the rooms overlook a busy road and have a bad smell probably because of the carpet old. Rooms still clean. Enough if you want to settle for a night.

The staff were so kind and helpful. The rooms were quaint but missed few convenient items in the bathroom. Tub was very good. View was great. Ac worked great. Clean place and loved being able to get around. A great Mexican place to have breakfast in the next block. Lack of comfortable items in the bathroom. More shelves would have been helpful.

Place left town, but with all The amenities of a modern hotel. The rooms are cramped and the furniture old, like the rest of the general style of the hotel. The bathroom is very small. The cleaning is very essential. Parking is$ 10 + tax per day, but closed and secure. All in all, good experience.

The location was excellent if you had a car. Parking in the back of the hotel was very convenient. The area looked safe enough, we had no issues. The elevator was big enough for 2 suitcases and maybe 1 person lol. So we stuck out luggage in there and pressed our floor number and ran up the stairs to meet our luggage. For the price in L. A. It was good. Rooms were really big, but tiny bathroom.

At first the hotel looks a bit like the Hollywood tower hotel ride at Hollywood studios (aka MGM Studios) or the movie from Disney, but it grows on you. Horrible smell in room, I had to buy an air freshner, noise from road and doors slamming in corridor. Went out early and came back at 3.30 to find room not done. We were told rooms were cleaned between 2-5, which is a bit odd. Guy on reception was very nice though Also the are is a bit undesirable, especially at night, we got cabs after dark. Overall not worth the money.

No! no! no! heated by one crappy eletric space heater on the floor! charge $100 deposit and don't ask first! it's been three days and I still don't have my $100 back!

Very clean hotel and perfect location! Room view of the Hollywood sign and in the best location. It was literally 15 minutes from everything! Staff was very friendly! We are looking forward to booking again on our next trip to LA!

First off let me say the Hotel is not fancy by any means, but has free parking and is in a prime location. Just stayed here last weekend. It is very shabby chic and I do love that. However if you stay to the front of the Hotel facing the Hollywood sign above the bar/restaurant that is in the Hotel below you will not get ANY SLEEP! You can hear the music as if it is in your room! The windows rattled until they stopped playing the music at 12:30AM! We were told they would stop by 11pm! Completely frustrating especially since we had an early flight the next day. We were not compensated in any way. Will book elsewhere when staying in LA next time.

Hollywood Historic hotel was good! Service was great! It was hard to tell if it was gonna be nice or if it was gonna be junk. But upon arrival I saw that it was actually nice! The lobby was nice. Had a historical look to it. Things like paint, walls, floors, etc were updated but had an old look to it. The front desk people were really nice! The night shift guy was awesome and super helpful will directions for me. The only problem I had with this hotel was they have an Ant problem. There is one or two Ants you can find in a lot of places.

Sat in the hotel room now whilst music bangs downstairs. we were told this would stop by 10.30PM, ITS NOW 11.30pm i love music but this is ridiculous — no prior warning. spoke to the guy downstairs — no refund option — no other rooms — no other option but to sit here and listen to the music with a flight to catch tomorrow. absolute disaster. "nothing I can do" is not really good enough. rude — no options given — just a ridiculous situation to be in!

We put my girlfriends mom up at this place during a trip to LA in July 2015. The Wi-Fi never worked, despite reassurances that it would once enough of the guests quit using it. Her mom needed Wi-Fi for important reasons so we decided to move her to another hotel and cancel the third night. "It isn't policy to refund" we were told, however one gentleman working there was kind enough to refund us the last night if we called expedia first to cancel it (which we did, then expedia called the hotel to verify the cancellation). We were standing right there when expedia called to verify our cancellation and the employee said we were good to go. After our trip, we learned that the third night was still charged as was the initial deposit (about 150 if I remember correctly) and never refunded back. After calling the hotel about these charges, the manager just stated that they don't do refunds. It was brought to expedia's attention, they attempted to contact the hotel, but no one answered. My girlfriend has tried calling the hotel since, but no one answers… Stay away, this place is crooked.

I have called to book a tour, to no avail. No one answers their phones! Called both the 213 number and their 1-800 number very disappointing!

Visited from UK and stayed here during a California road trip. It's not the smartest of areas clearly but given you have to drive everywhere in LA anyway as long as the location isn't a massive dive that wasn't what I'd consider an issue. It had perfectly functioning Wi-Fi, an excellent car park, I ran round the block a couple of days and never felt threatened so I'd take all of that stuff with a pinch of salt, the Nue Cafe downstairs is also excellent and worth noting. I'd happily stay here again given it's location, amenities and cost.

Free parking. That alone is a plus but I couldn't take advantage of it. It's nicely decorated and has pleasant furnishings. I was surprised at how BIG the bed is. I mean. Big. I'm 6' 2" and sharing a bed with a friend was beyond easy. Neither of us are obese by the way. Maid service was good. Very up to par and almost invisible. Obviously it ain't the Ritz-Carlton, but with its price it's totally worth it.

Enjoyed my one night stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

Although it's almost 5 years since we've been there, we still have fond memories of this location. And I will not forget the fever that kept me in the hotel room for a whole afternoon. Very friendly employees, were very helpful with directions and information about what to do, where to go.

It's kind of old-looking. But honestly, for the price you pay + free parking, it's totally worth it. I definitely liked the Hollywood Historic. It's not the cleanest hotel in the world, but it's definitely not disgusting. We paid $70ish bucks a night for a 1-king bed and 1 bath room. It was for a convention so all of the $50 a night rooms were taken. But $70 is still definitely worth it! You're in a little bit of a sketchy area but at least you'll have a relatively safe parking spot and a place to end the night. Definitely check it out if you want to stay in the heart of LA.

Had I nice stay, easy to find, free parking and free Wi-Fi. Has hair drier, fridge and coffee maker, large tv, comfortable beds and air con. We had no problems and the retro decor is lovely. If you like old hollywood and it's faded glamour it's a great place to stay, views of the hollywood sign from the street, and probably some rooms, though not ours. Liked it enough to book to stay again in a week. Bargain.

Went to this place to stay temporarily and look for apartments at the same time. Thought it would be great because its "historic", rated well and in hollywood essentially. By no means is it historic on the inside except for the bathrooms, hot water takes a night to turn on, sink is knee level. Room itself is ok except gets very humid, with furniture just randomly put and probably bought in bargain stores. Fridge was empty but that might be a non issue or obvious thing for some. Bed was comfortable though, nice a king sized. Service doesnt speak any English except the people at the front desk. Maid doesn't come in unless you specifically tell her with hanging notice on the door. Policies are not ideal and illogical. I thankfully found an apartment sooner than I thought and I tried to cancel the remaining days. Took arguing to do but I managed, but still had to pay for the day I canceled which is fine but they said I couldnt stay there for that remainder of the day (it was still 2pm) and couldn't spend the night either, becuase if I did I would have to pay for the following day. The area is awful as well, it is so not hollywood, it was Korea Town, full of spanish gangs, crappy restaraunts, (except the Nui Cafe) which was surprisingly refreshing and tasty. You are better off springing more for a higher priced hotel in Los Angeles like in Burbank or North Hollywood. Maybe if it was in a better location it'd be great.

Great hotel, great location, staff were friendly, cafe in the hotel was very good. Definitely have to come back. Bathroom a little run down but that was all. Neighborhood was good to felt safe walking at night. Down the road from paramount studios.
