Service was great! Creepy noises at night, and felt like I was being watched. Rooms were way too small. Based on the history of the Cecil Hotel, I was scared at first, but I kind of liked it overall. I learned the history of the Cecil (Elisa Lam), and it was scary. In conclusion, the food and service was great. Please put warnings on the noises! Make the rooms bigger. I was there 6 months ago, but I didn't want to write a review. As I said earlier, there have been many murders and sexual assults. I liked it a little, but it needs to improve.

They have nice and very polite staff, I hope they can remodel their Restroom services with sensor activate and better AC.

Its been abandoned but my friends and I snuck to the 5th floor to sleep. Couldnt get any sleep tho because of the sound a sharpning metal and what was what I believed to be a faint dripping sound coming from the room next to me and heavy breathing.

Here Elisa Lam died and now the spirit is rolling throughout the hotel and there are many assassins.

A place that contains many mysteries, if you are addicted to paranormal cases stay in this place.

Just thought that I decided to come into a famously killers Hotel Cecil, But Im trying to make night stays in the Stay On Main Hotel and I arrived in there and I found them a most becomes a ABOUNDED HOTEL! There's a totally closed likely a shutdown. Because of there are no customers lights rooms in there. It's all empty darkness rooms. That's why I've tried to called 'em for make reservation but no one response that what they left answers machines.

Great place. Water is great has a beautiful stain of 21 year old female flesh. Elevators work excellent and I end up a lot in water tanks.

We were at this hotel on our visit to Los Angeles. We chose it by price and location, ignoring its history.
The room was old and small. The shower in the bathroom was not shower as such, the water was falling on the same floor as the rest of the bathroom, there was no shower tray. But we were lucky. Many rooms there do not have bathrooms inside the room, you can enjoy a cheaper stay if you choose this last option.
For only accommodation is good, as long as you do not know the stories behind this place, as was our case. Now, if you have already informed and read a lot about it, you better choose another option.

I've never been inside. It is closed to the public. Not sure if it's going to open again. The area where it's located it's not good. You should be cautious while walking around. It's famous for different mysteries (suicide stories, murderers, etc. ) and it has served as inspiration for the TV Show American Horror Stories.

I tried the listed phone number from the site and a recording tells me the number is temporarily out of service. I didn't check for any availability. I doubt this place is open anymore. Back in the 1980's this was $30 a nite with lodgers staying on weekly or monthly plans. It was called a "lodging house" back in the day. Reservations we're unheard of and requests for a week brought consternation to the clerk's face. I learned much later that one key actually fit several doors. It's situated on "the row" which is slowly but surely losing ground to upscale bars, restaurants, swanky apartments, and inevitable gentrification.

Sad that you can call this a hotel today. Hygiene well and the situation first! Do not book!

The hotel is so amazing! Hotel staff everywhere. Literally everywhere like inside the elevator, water tank, under your bed. It's always christmas in there since the lights are like christmas lights that goes ON and OFF. Such an unforgetable experience. Five stars!

Elisa Lam, Black Dahlia, 2 serial killers, 3 suicides 1 with homicide, I don't recommend staying at the hotel.

I rented at that hotel when it was the Cecil Hotel now stay on main hotel in that Hentoncesesta a bit mejorbque those around like the Roslis Ybde but I paid 20 dollars a day yvestaban the rooms more or less.

A little complicated sometimes does not tell me where I am.

A nice hotel that has certainly improved. Staff was professional and not creepy and renovated rooms were comfortable and clean. Water had no foul smell or taste. We stayed on the 4th floor. Great little place off the beaten path. Within walking distance to Fremont Street. Rooms were clean and new… Updated and modern. Will make this my Vegas hotel of choice!

Room was small. They made a bathroom. The shower was a corner of the bathroom. AWKWARD! The pictures are not true and correct. I booked a double bed room. I was really disappointed. I have to add that this is the same place a girl found dead In the cistern (water tank) on top of the building several years ago. : (

Thanks for the laughs I needed that. I was reading something on this hotel. It is very upsetting as to the incidentals that took place in this establishment over the many years, but the truth remains that there are places that have experienced more deaths in a day than this hotel will in its lifetime. I'm guessing that the last death it will see is it's own. If it's close for good, that we'll know of. The stars are for the entertainment from previous posts.

AKA "Cecil Hotel" This place is permanently closed. I never stayed here but walked around the historical and spacious, marble-covered lobby. It's hard for me to give it such a poor review as it was one of the few truly haunted places in LA and so ingrained in LA culture. American Horror Story's Hotel season was based on this notorious building. Read up on it, better than any horror movie you'll see.

Myself and two friends stayed here a while back. The service was around the clock. They even stand at the end of your bed and watch you sleep. The tap water is more like flat cola but still delightful in a cup of tea — only if you ad a few more sugars than you usually would. The hotel runs it own activities such as hide and seek with the room furniture and you would sometimes wake up in other rooms. Overall a rather good experience.

Well I did go to check out the restaurant. The Stay on Main is an Historic Hotel and so I was pleased to see the old time design within the structure. I stopped in for lunch and it was fantastic.

How not to visit it after seeing American Horror Story Hotel. The Cecil Hotel has inspired the entire TV series. I only visited it but to know it before I would have booked a room. Recommended.

We booked this hotel not knowing the macabre story it had behind it… despite it being a bit disturbing, inside it is not bad for the price it has. Small room, clean, old with dark brown walls and a blue aviator that you do not explain… being in the center of Los Angeles and in a strategic point to move can go to spend a night. Outside the hotel the neighborhood is awful, but ill stench of pee and the like drove us from downtown to the airport. It is advisable to comply with curfew.

Very chic entrance worthy of a luxury hotel and very nice staff! Moreover, the rise of the 15 floors of this building is done in no time, which is very impressive! What is a pity is that the rooms are quite mediocre (sink in the living room, little space…) but I remain nevertheless rather satisfied overall as it is well placed in the immense city of Los Angeles!

I travel and I stay for 5 nights. I never knew my stay that he had that mysterious death. He will look water very early in the morning to the kitchen which is on the 4th floor. I was down in the famous elevator of the video only. Haha great fear and chills.
The hotel is great, highly recommended.

3rd time I am going to this hotel and hostel is in downtown Los Angeles, unbeatable location if not rent auto, metro on 7th or the squad close, practically all cuzán bus routes by the Center, and arrive to wherever you want, the area is close to centers of assistance to homeless and you are several way to the hotel, but are fairly quiet, they ask only coins you say NO you do not insist,. The hotel offers light breakfast which consists of milk, coffee, oats, juice and a few delicious waffles that you prepare at the moment, staff is usually Latin and speak Spanish most, is more, practically all the city services is run by latinos. The price of the rooms with bathroom included, are a little expensive, but there are rooms with bunk beds from 45 dlls, I recommend to those who are facing the street they cost average 100 Dlls, for the quality of the hotel, but is offset by the location, delicate, complainants and hysterical tourists refrain, quality in relation to the price is OK, there is a macys for your purchases, or a Ross store if you're in economic plan, 7eleven for basics and a Walgreen's pharmacy which is almost supermarket has it all
Also the mystery of Elisa Lam becoming a celebrity-friendly, in addition to one side of the hotel were filmed a famous video of U2, and even see the huge sign painted Hotel Cecil in the video, look for it on YouTube.

So lisa lam Sold her soul to the Devil, then it was time to pay the piper… Is not the hotel's fault! I have no complaints, I got the room I needed for a good price and that was that, btw everything was normal, so it was good.

Well I was here last week July. 31 2015 and to tell you the true I didn't know Elisa Lam body was found in the tank of water. Until I was searching for feed back on this Hotel that when I read Richard Ramirez lived on the top floor and slaughter his victims. Then Jack Unterweger also stay and murder three prostitus. I was in shock and also they change their name when it used to be call Cecil Hotel and now is call Stay on Main. Well where the hotel is located is a bad neighborhood but the bed where a joke they are like a toddlers bed the room was clean I spend $207 for one night and I got a room with two beds do to the fact they where going to charge me the same for one bed and not have a private restroom and with the two beds I was going to have my private restroom. For the price I pay I should gone to a better hotel they had fan not a cooler ac also the breakfast was a joke homeade waffles and cereal coffee and orange juice. Don't get me wrong the lobby is really nice just the rooms are small I bruise myself since the beds are small and close together now I m just waiting on my refund $50 since they charge me that in case I leave damages on the room. Seven days already pass let see what happens.

Pick a different hotel, the service was horrible. Also had some trouble with the bathroom, and not a single employee was around to help. They have marked off areas, yet the guests still go in there. Not only that but I sense there was something wrong with the water? when I showered I still felt somewhat sticky and there was an odor coming from the faucet.

It was nice until one of the staff members reminded me of its dark history when they tried cutting my head off one night. Other then that cool hotel.

Do not be fooled! If you ever heard of the Cecil Hotel and it's paranormal activity don't be fooled. Because of all the murders and suicides they changed the hotel name. Now it's called, "Stay On Main. " Do not stay there. For one the bedrooms are nasty and you have to share a bathroom with multiple people. (You don't get your own bathroom). And 2 it's just not a very pleasant place to stay at with your family or friends unless you plan on going ghost hunting.

Had a great time. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Definitely somewhere I will stay again if/when I return to LA :).

The hotel is quite noisy entrance and the only thing drunk well made. The rooms are not nice and little bit spacious. Of more smell rotten or vomit is emanated from the hallway often late when have returned! Neighbors overcome playing the ghost and scratching on doors the evening were less annoying than the narrow showers to water color turned yellow and the taste of rotten I hope that this is not linking to the wc. Despite all the positives are the kindness on the part of employees.

Over all my stay was questionable. The staff were great, they informed me of where and where not to go (the black areas and non black). The rooms where nice and affordable. The beds were comfortable and big. The elevators would sometimes not work, at one point I started freaking out but I just took the stairs like any logical human. The food at the hotel was bad to say the least. The Staff directed me to to a small Chinese food restaurant, which was worse than the hotel, Rather soggy. The tap water was pungent, it wasn't the best, I'd bring your own. The weather was pretty awful rainy and dark, so the bad weather could a just made the hotel seem good. Either way, I'd come here for one day or two, never stay more than that.

Seriously, never come. The workers are good, but all others are terrible. U probably heard about that chinese girl dead in water tank. And u may also know that the location is just near one of the worst neighbourhood in la. Dont be mislead by the lobby.

Stay on Main — great location — close to cheap and plentiful buses and trains, close to plentiful eateries from very cheap to not so much. Close to cool fashion boutiques — not the boring chain variety. There are homeless but harmless homeless people downtown but do your research before getting all stewed up about it. Stay on Main is a beautiful marble floored hotel with great service — more a hotel than a hostel. Breakfast, waffles included goes 7 days for 3 hours moorings. I feel lucky I picked this hostel to stay at — it's been perfect.

2 serial killers lived there, many have been killed suicide launched x window, have killed 3 people including Elisa Lam at February 2013 d, found dead in the water tank d roof hotel where hundred d people bathed or took tap water contaminated from the remains of the corpse in a State of decomposition of Elisa, definitely the worst hotel in the world to stay.

Dead girl floating in the water tank facts aside, I'd never stay here again. Your stereotypical illegal immigrant maids and staff who do not speaka the engrish well and make you feel like an idiot. I am a half white half Mexican raised around English. I am a fluent Spanish speaker and the maids still barely understood my tongue when all I asked for was extra towels. Also, a lot of shady people hang out here on the weekends so be careful. Do not answer your door in the evening hours unless you want to hear some drugged up addict preach to you about his or her beliefs. I was forced to slam the door right in these two girls faces and they continued to pound on my door and window. I threatened to call the police and they finally left. All in all this was a horrible experience and I do not recommend.

I think that the hotel is more mysterious since there stayed 2 famous assassins many people committed suicide uvo 3 horrible murders and the case of elisa lam in 2013.

If you want to bathe with this dead water well. A disgusting place, bugs, ticks in beds and breakfast waffles unhealthy and poor care Mexicans who cannot give any solution and not even comply with their work.

Stay on Main, the Cecil Hotel, is one of the coolest places I have stayed. I decided to op for the double twin bed with shared bathroom. The room is very clean, and comes with all the amenities that one would expect from a much more prestigious hotel. The shared bathrooms have not been a problem, I simply think that I am taking a shower at the gym or some other place where you might have to share a shower. Although I opted for this option, they do have accommodations available with a private bathroom. I have stayed in many hotels throughout the Los Angeles area and for the money this has been quiet a wonderful surprise. There are only two things that I think could be improved upon, perhaps offer parking somewhere at a discounted or "hotel" rate. The second thing being that perhaps the ownership should consider installing air-conditioning in the rooms, Mitsubishi makes awesome little HVAC systems that are the size of a microwave. Anyway, I definitely will be staying here again.

This hostel is one of the worst if this is the worst or I could stay! The staff is sorely lacking in manner and ethics! Believe me, invest somewhere else rather than in that one!

Rooms were good, shower and WC on the floor, unfortunately there is no mirror available. There were three different types of cereals for breakfast. The room was a flat screen and a sink with a mirror. The location is very good, if you want to go to downtown. From the window we had views of another houses wall, not so great. Otherwise everything's great run, in the evening a few homeless people on the street are completely harmless,. Parking is however expensive, we had our car in a guarded garage right next to it for 15 euros, there are also cheaper places to park there, however, which are open at night and no idea how secure that is. All in all very satisfactory.
