Great place with private walk way to the beach. My husband and I spent 3 days here for our 1st Anniversary. Beautiful Paradise View from our room. Juanita helped us pick our room when we called to book and she was right the view from our room was amazing. Madeline at the front desk was also very professional and friendly, she addressed any concerns we had. Our stay here was very special and we can't wait to go back. I want everyone to know about this Gem we found in Laguna Beach.

It was a large suite with gorgeous views of the ocean and lovely beach.

This place is definitely an older property. The location is great. Close to amazing restaurants. The beach is very nice. The room I had with my family was a 2 bed room. Nice and roomy bathroom. Comfortable beds. Small kitchenette with refrigerator, sink, microwave. Plenty of drawer storage. Our room also had a sofa sleeper. It is next to the pool had a partial ocean view. Parking is a bit weird and very tight. The inside pool and Jacuzzi is a nice concept but it gets pretty hot inside during summer time. If you don't have a room near the beach be ready to walk down and up a long, windy, and steep path (not elderly or knee friendly). The staff is very friendly and accomodating. There is a small common area with tables, chairs and bbq's with ocean view. Front office is always hot. They do serve a continental breakfast, with good coffee. They have all your beach supplies, no need to bring them (chairs, towels, umbrella).

Let me start by saying that the owners/staff are lovely! Having said that, the parking was atrocious, there was no creamer for the coffee and there was no AC. We had to sleep with ALL the doors and windows open just to breathe. We didn't feel particularly safe, but there was no other way, unless we slept outside. You cannot take any canopy over 6'x6' to their beach, which would've been good info to have prior to carrying an EZ Up all the way down there. The entire place needs a lot of TLC. Our room WAS very nice on the inside (aside from the whole no AC debacle), though. It has SO much potential, really. For as much as they charge per room, they really should invest some of that money back into repairs. Again, everyone on site is very, very nice! If you come in the winter, I feel like it might be an ok place to rest your weary head. :)

Pros: We paid for a partial ocean view and were pleasantly surprised at how much of the ocean we actually got to see from our window. The room was large, clean and nicely updated. The location was perfect as it was within walking distance from many shops, restaurants and beaches. My favorite part about this hotel though was the private staircase which lead directly down to the beach. Cons: Our room had no air conditioner and it was a hot day. We called the front desk and they brought us a portable air con unit, which was nice of them, but it was so loud that we couldn’t sleep with it on. Also, we arrived two hours early to check in time but after going down to the beach for two hours and coming back a few minutes after 2:00 (promised check in time), we were told our room was still not ready. The front desk girl also told us we could leave our bags there, and she would move them into the back where they’d be safe. However, when we got back from the beach they were in the same spot we’d left them.

I was pleasantly surprised on the size of the room, had a small kitchen with fridge ect. The pool is open til 11pm, great location our room had an ocean view top floor. The path down to the beach is quite a steep one but I didn’t mind, the scenery, and atmosphere of this hotel is perfect. I’m not giving a 5 Star though because the furnishing was quite outdated for the price being paid & the surface areas around the room hadn’t been wiped down. I set a white towel on the counter and it came off dirty & dusty. I only write this portion for improvement. Loved everything else about this hotel. Will def be coming back.

We will definitely be back! We had an ocean view room so we were lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. The room was clean & staff accommodating. Only gave it a 4 because pool is just fair and breakfast needs a little improvement. No protein offered, and coffee not great. But all in all great value.

Staff is amazing. Views spectacular. Make sure you ask for a full ocean view. Room 516 is fabulous. It’s the perfect place for that “non hotel” feel. More like you are part of the locals. Highly recommend.

This hotel is insanely wonderful… staying here delivers all the magic that Laguna has to offer. Locations cannot be beat… hanging right over the white washed epic beaches, patios with incredible views, relaxing lounge areas everywhere on the property… the jacuzzi is heavenly at 104 degrees, the rooms are layed out nicely, like being at home… only who can afford a home on the cliffs of laguna, and for that matter… why can we even afford a stay here at the Riviera… well its because they have such reasonable prices… anyone can enjoy this little piece of heaven. Highly recommended!

Our families have been going here for at least 30 years. There have been upgrades and corresponding price increases which I have no problem with. But the beds are getting quite old (as am I) and I just can’t sleep on a bad bed anymore. This time I had to use air mattresses on top of bad bed to get a good nights rest. Otherwise, the vibe and view are great for the investment. My only advice to Kort: Please spend some money and get NEW beds!

This hotel is a great and I mean great, I mean buy the old retro style, the location, and most of all the family who has owned it for years. The views are pretty amazing! The hotel is located right in the middle of Laguna Beach, and the best thing is how anything and everything you need is in walking distance from the hotel. I encourage everyone sit in the lobby, as it is so ZEN and peaceful especially with the fireplace burning. This is family owned and loved and cared by. You can't get better than this!

This hotel is a great family friendly hotel. There are toys, and other fun things for the beach. The rooms are pretty nice and the views are amazing! this hotel also has a pool and hot tub with a retractable roof. This place also has grills and great entertaining space, plus it is walking distance to a grocery store, lots of restaurants, and other fun shops. It also has free breakfast in the morning, which comes with your stay!

My friend I stayed for three weeks. The staff is amazing. Everyone of them went out of their way to make it wonderful in their own way. I would stay here every time If and when I come back. Very clean and homey. Thank you all.

If you like nice places and nice things, avoid this place at all costs, it is a royal rip off, they post nice pics on line but the place is a smelly flee pit. We booked through BookingDotCom and paid more than $600 for two nights, and within five minutes of arriving wanted to get the hell out of there, not even a place to park our car, we had to park two blocks away on the street, no disclosure about that, shame on them. We said we would stay one night, and would like to have a refund for the second night, we vacated by 10 am, in high season, you know they re-rented the room, and would not refund our $320. So if you want Motel 6 on the beach, noisy, smelly with uncaring hosts that don't care that this is your vacation, go ahead and book! Kent & Laura Ciucci :)

Been coming here for over 20 years. Love the location, the staff, and the uniqueness of the property. Clean, comfortable, affordable rooms and amazing ocean views at one of Laguna's best surf spots. Walking distance to some of the best restaurants in town. Wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else in Laguna Beach.

The view and privacy of our beach front room was great. The general condition of the room and hotel amenities was poor. The hotel in a few words is long in the tooth and in need of repair and or replacement. The bathroom sliding door didn't open easily when closed, the bathroom fan was in very bad shape. Repairs to the ceiling were good but by no means professional. The list goes on. If the view is all you care about, the place is great.

Believe it or not, I have been coming here for over 60 years! My dear aunts came here in the 50's and I swam in the pool then and have been coming for family gatherings ever since. It is quirky as a hotel, but the star is the Pacific. This year we noticed cheerful and hardworking housekeeping staff. Our room was spotless and comfortable. The owners, who appear periodically on the property, do not have the same interest in their returning customers as we once appreciated. We have considered other properties, but the Riviera is within walking distance to town and restaurants. And did I mention the view is stellar? Love cocktails on the patio as the sun sets behind Catalina. Love the memories we have made here over the years. That will never change.
