Very friendly staff, especially Erikan. Really good breakfast, rooms are pretty small. Location is amazing 2 mins from taksim square, metro station and 5mins from istiklal st.

I have stayed in this place couple of times before when it was called Retropera, now a new management is taking over. The hostel decoration was changed and it was a lot better before. The receptionist was acting like a nice man, he came and showed me the room, the floors were sticky I told him, he said the room was just cleaned. I accepted the room then he went away. Then I went to the bathroom I found yellow drops on the toilet seat. It was not cleaned properly. I called the receptionist to send someone to clean it. He said rudely I am coming up you need to get your staff and leave, you are not staying here.! I was shocked of his reaction. Luckily I found another hotel much cleaner 50 meters away. But imagine if the area were fully booked! So tempered man in the wrong position. I think I was getting a good deal on the room and the guy wanting me out so he can rent the room much higher for the walk in customer. I can not remember his name but it was jul 29 at noon. Some turkish need to respect others specially tourists who come to spend money and help economy. Will never stay again. Be aware!

Very clean place, very welcomed staff, everything is free like water and tea and coffee, very good rooms and excellent location. I spent 4days here I highly recommend it.

We've just spent three nights at Retropera where, from the moment we arrived, we have been treated so well, with such kindness, by the hotel owners/managers/staff. Their advice on places to see, things to do and where to eat was very helpful too. I have only extremely positive things to say about our stay at Retropera. I would highly recommend this hotel.
