Review of Holiday Ao Nang Beach Resort, Krabi - SHA Extra Plus 4*

A great place for families. The hotel staff and the cleaning staff are amazing. I had my birthday while staying there, and the cleaning staff decorated our bed with a happy birthday banner and an origami elephant made from towels. They also then brought me up a birthday cake later in the day. The didn't have to do this, they did it just because they are kind people. The pool and the resort grounds are immaculate and always well maintained. My only issue with this resort would be the food/restaurant. The buffet breakfast is quite good, but the staff in the restaurant, while very nice, can sometimes forget that you're there and you may be waiting a while. My wife ordered a pad Thai, and it was brought out 10 minutes later yet I had to wait another 20 minutes for a burger and fries. We booked a trip to phi phi Island through the the company at the hotel (the company is called Wang sai speed boat) which turned out to be a nightmare. On our way back there was a storm and the negligent driver didn't care to slow down or be careful and lost control of the speed boat at full speed, almost capsizing the boat and sending one half of the people on the boat flying mid air to the other and crashing into one another. There were children and elderly people on board, who thankfully weren't hurt, but one man has to be carried off the boat as he couldn't walk. I advise anyone to research the companies before booking, as there seem to be a lot of unprofessional boat tour businesses in the area. Aside from the food and the speed boat, the hotel itself is fantastic for people of all ages, and I would definitely return for another stay.
