This hostel is run by a family and from the beginning you are accepted into the family. You eat and hang out together. The facilities are great and they help you with advice and local info. They also offer the only ethical elephant tour where you feed, wash and swim with elephants who are only controlled by voice, no hooks or sticks. You cannot ride them which is something you should definitely avoid at any tour as the ride-on tours mistreat the animals to train them.
We had a wonderfull stay @thai time hostel, nice and clean rooms, great location but maybe the most important thing amazing staff that helped you out with everything you needed, booking doi inthanon tour, transportation to pai, printing out our airline tickets. We stayed here twice, so if I ever comeback to chiang mai I know where to go.
