They stole my friend’s belongings, which included thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment. A lifetime of memories, gone in an instant by dishonest and dishonorable crooks. Staff did nothing to help and hid in their offices, all indications of an inside job. You bring shame to the country you represent.

A friend of mine was robbed while at dinner. Employees with keys entered their room and took expensive camera equipment. Nothing has been done to help her. Shame on all the staff at this so called resort!

A guest was robbed by staff members and there was no compensation, solution, or even a mere apology. This place should absolutely NOT be rated 5 stars. It is an untrustworthy, den of thieves. Zero stars. Would not recommend.

The location is amazing, it is kissed by white sandy beaches that stretch on forever.
staff are on a another level of service. Chef Sunil is a food genius.
the GM Ruwa, is attentive to every need and is silently every where, making sure guests are kept happy.
accommodation is great. We staying at the beach villa, one really can't want for more, it's perfectly located and serviced by butlers from morning till 10pm.
highly recommend Gold Zanzibar 👌. Picturesque perfect.

The hotel is unique. It is located in the most beautiful part of the island. The only beach where there are no tides of the ocean. The beach has white sand, soft, fine and caressing the feet. The ocean water is indescribably beautiful turquoise, crystal clear and warm. The staff of the hotel is extremely kind, helpful and always smiling. The food is infinitely varied, delicious and in huge quantities. Seafood is always fresh and very tasty. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and on the beach and the internet is of good quality. I didn't have any goodies. I highly recommend it.

Two days ago, we're back. The hotel liked, the food is great, the beach is also good. The staff are friendly. The only thing that didn't like it was the day of the eviction. From the beach called and reported that in 25 minutes we have to vacate the room. 12 days, we have a plane at 21, and we have to sit on the front desk with our things. Where I have not been about such things say in advance, in general Africa. And so in general very well.

Great location with beautiful white beach. Staff attentive and friendly. Food well presented and tasty. Negatives were jacuzzi not working at our villa. Also saw lots of plastic lying on the adjacent beaches. Local with a monkey on a leash getting tourists to take photos also not acceptable as this promotes the trade in exploiting wildlife.

Great… It is the most appropriate term to define the perfect balance between nature. Population. Beach and Ocean!
Excellence goes without hesitation to the director Mr. Roberto… To his close collaborators, Anna and Francesca, who have impeccably fulfilled our every request!
What about the kitchen and the structure? Obviously of great quality and well taken care of not for anything directed by Italian chef patron, whom I thank infinitely for his tastings!
Overall Vote? A nice 10 is good for us!
If I return? Obviously SIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.

Very expensive, beach way too far from the chairs/umbrella area. No hot pool or jacuzzis. Pool water too cold. Food was excellent, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Average compare to Caribbean resorts.

Italian staff/owner/senior management are terrible to the native staff. No atmosphere, expensive and just outside the walls there is extreme poverty. Rooms are over rated, paint on the hand carved wood work and raw open concrete under the beds. Room wasn't fully furnished. It lacks the care and love to make it anything special. I won't be returning.

The best resort in that area, would recommend to stay there. I personally only visited this resort to use their pool and have good. I spent the whole day there and I enjoyed my time. The staff are very helpful as well.

My wife and I came Zanzibar to celebrate our honeymoon. The biggest selling point for this hotel is the vicinity to the beach, unlike other hotels in the region this hotel has access to an actual sandy beach and not on the cliff making going to the beach a bit of a hassle. Before I got to the hotel I was afraid of the vendors on the beach because I thought they will harrass us when we are trying to relax, however this never happend due to security people (making us feel safe enough to even leave our bags unattended). The bar of the hotel located directly on the beach and the hotel pool allowed us to get drinks whereever we wanted to relax. We reserved an ocean view room and it was amazing, every morning and night in the room we had amazing views and the room itself always clean and nice.
To sum up, Services and Facilities = 5/5. The staff, either the front desk, house keeping or dining were always extremely welcoming, polite and helpful (the level of service in this hotel should be a gold standerd in the world). Staff = 5/5 Finaly, the food was really great, the Chef and it's crew always made a wide array of foods usally containig seafood, meat, chicken and vegeterian in order to please all the guests. Food and Drinks = 5/5. To sum up, I will be glad to return in the future to this hotel. A perfect vacation!

This was one of the best vacation experiences I had in my recent times. Every aspect of our stay, including the rooms, ambience, food, staff, swimming pool and the other facilities were up in the highest grade. The moment we checked in, we were made to feel special. I would like to make a special comment about the staff. They are extremely well trained, courteous and are always prepared to go the extra mile to pamper you. Memorable stay at a wonderful place. It comes through the gate and feels like in paradise! We were warmly received by the staff of the reception (a great open building with impressive roof) with a fresh melon juice and then to our great, big and clean room. We were surprised that we had beautiful sea views despite booked Deluxe garden view.
The garden is very well maintained and it looks actually everything in the photos. There is a large saltwater pool with Jacuzzi function and a "waterfall", 2 showers, which have been incorporated into beautiful flowering shrubs. Especially appealing, we found also the islands of the Sun around the pool!
The hotel has a bar, a pool bar, an À la carte restaurant on the beach and an all inclusive restaurant, which also has an impressive roof structure and is completely open. The drinks and the food are great and very diverse!
The beach is very wide and clean, a beautiful flat falling white sandy beach! The concerns are high quality with reasonable conditions and can be rented for free beach towels themselves — these are drawn by the employees to the concerns. The sea is beautiful, turquoise crystal clear and clean. You can't go in without the slippers far because there are no coral.
The seller on the beach not too much bother because they may not come to the concern and care of always a security man.
It's a very quiet hotel with 67 rooms for those who want to really relax.

We spent our holiday in the gold of Zanzibar in February 2016. The entire system, the food, the staff and the Manager deserve the highest praise. It was a wonderful holiday. The most beautiful sandy beach, a magnificent swimming pool, two comfortable chairs and large umbrellas. The Indian Ocean a dream. The rooms were very large, nicely decorated and very clean as the entire system. The staff was always very friendly, helpful and courteous. The Manager has can not take it to go from table to table at the dinner and to ask (very symphonic) for the condition and problems. The food was varied and very tasty, even for's eye was beautifully done everything. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic. Often, a little entertainment program took place in the evenings. Sporty could operate in the early evening at the volleyball and play with or against other members of the crew, the Manager and the chef, which has made a lot of fun. We can recommend this hotel complex with a clear conscience.
We want to again say thank you for the wonderful holiday on this way.

We stayed from 5 to 19.11 2015 in hotel and had a great stay, warm, perfect place for an amazing holiday. All the ingredients were present, beach, pool, crystal clear water and also a very good restaurant with delicious and varied dishes with the Chief Sunil.

Seafood at will, the staff is very helpful, lots of activities, several shows in the evening, a great, in short, that the good guitarist in this hotel that I proudly recommend. Already want to go back.

About as mediocre as it gets. We stayed 5 nights in Hideaway about 500m down and 2 nights in Gold. Gold does not come close to qualify as 5 star. Before we moved to Gold, we read online reviews about poor service and better beaches and thought "meh, who needs service". But it's actually quite noticeable. Waiters look at you with tons of attitude and contempt. If you're on the beach, no one will come by to offer you anything to drink. In fact, it's not even really all inclusive despite advertising as such. When you check in, you'll be told some drinks like espresso is charged extra. But there are also hidden extra charge drinks you'll never know about not being included until you check out. This breaks the very basic tenement of the service industry (especially 5 star hotel industry) of not breaking customer's trust and trapping them. The place is also just not generally well kept compared to Hideaway. Empty bottles, brooms, buckets laying around feels more at home in a favela than a 5 star hotel. Gold is probably endowed with one of the better beaches of all Kendwa and Nungwi. It stretches along the entire width of the hotel property and doesn't lose it during high tide. But it's more than totally squandered with poorly managed relations with peddlers on the beach. It's so disruptive and distracting that there's no relaxation value in it anymore.

The Hotel location, the colors, facilities are amazing, as a tour and travel agent, I visited the hotel for inspection when it was on finishing touches though already there was few guests in. It has very nice and long beach area. This is a classic property all type of guests can afford for prices are standard. All who are going to Zanzibar may think of Gold Zanzibar.
