So tranquil and scenic this diamond in the rough is… wait! I’m not sure I want anyone else knowing about this incredi… meh… this ok place! Joking. This place is truly paradise!

Hands down the best place you can pick to stay when in Moshi area — can't recommend high enough. The location, the staff, the whole experience — an overall 5/5!
Our perception of a hotel with a view went through a 360 transformation after our stay at Kaliwa Lodge, Machame. Situated in the skirts of Weru Weru River Valley, Kaliwa lodge not only offers the most incredible panoramic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, but combined with world-class customer service and culinary standards, what’s left for you is just to sit back, relax and experience the magic of Tanzania.

Kaliwa Lodge is a nice and perfect place in Moshi. I recommend this lodge for anyone who looking accommodation.

We came here on the first leg of a trip up kilimanjaro. We were greeted late at night after long delays with the airlines and typical KLM luggage issues. The manager (Thomas) was there to greet us personally and reassured us that he was there to help us as much as possible with our stay. His hospitality extended well beyond the normal duties of a lodge manager, as he assisted us personally in attempting to straighten out our luggage issues. After a long two days of flying we were very exhausted and ready to rest. The luggage issues we faced forced us to stay at this lodge an additional night, which meant an extra day that was not included in our travel package. Being the souls of caution we are, we only pulled out the cash that we were expected to tip our guides and porters for our trek up the mountain, and a small amount of extra cash. The lodge typically only accepts cash and not card, but there was an option to pay with paypal. What genuinely impressed us is that Thomas was more concerned about us than how we would pay, and showed us to our rooms without even having us register or paying. We settled when we left and provided a sizeable tip. While there, the service was first class. I don't have a single complaint about anyone or anything. From the cook to the groundskeeper, the staff is diligent and friendly. The food was very good and consisted of traditional Tanzanian cuisines using locally grown and produced food.

It closest place from the Kia airport to get fresh air from Mount Kilimanjaro and beautiful very of this mountain Kilimanjaro.

Our stay at Kaliwa was wonderful. Tucked away in the mountains Machame, just minutes from the Mt. Kilimanjaro Machame gate, Kaliwa is the perfect place to stay pre/post climb. Surrounded by a lush landscape, one can truly relax and connect with nature. The staff was knowledgable and made us feel at home. The food was delicious and well prepared, homemade breads, local cheese, etc. The lodge supports local initiatives which was a big plus. I would highly recommend the lodge. Make sure to spend time on the amazing tree house deck with the stunning view of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Beautiful place in a fertile slopes of Kilamanjaro. The surroundings are breath taking. Highly recommended.

Wonderful stay here right after our climb up Kilimanjaro. Lot of warm water, good Wi-Fi, electricity, delicious food and full bar. The flowers and views of the mountain and surrounding rainforest gorgeous. The tree house deck stunning and a great place for morning coffee. Only suggestion would be to start taking credit cards. I would have certainly taken advantage of more services had that been the case.

Fantastic hotel; great breakfasts beneath the mountain, clean rooms, and a gorgeous viewing platform. Have Thomas, the hotel manager, organize a walking tour through the village. The people are incredibly friendly. Highly recommended!
