Superb! Everything was perfect if not beyond! The room, the cleanliness, the location, the overall vibe, and the breakfast — GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY! But among them all — THE SERVICES! I had a scooter accident in Manila just the day before I checked in, the girls at the reception were extremely considerate and helpful. They guided me to the nearest hospital, upgraded me from a dorm to an individual room with own bathroom on the same floor as the lobby, so I didn't have to go up and down the stairs or struggled in the shared bathroom — without me even asking! I was in so much pain that night, I could barely leave the room. They constantly checked on me, went to a pharmacy and even bought dinner for me! (Of course, I paid but still! What they did for me was more than what they needed to do! I was taken cared of like a family member or a friend! So much love and a big shout out to you girls! 實在是評論的太晚

就是因為看到我腳不方便行動!
晚上我痛得連房門都出不了 他們不僅主動來敲房門關心我
還幫我去附近的康是美買藥更帶了晚餐
真的晚上在被窩裡感動到哭 (也可能是因為很痛啦) 我真的真的非常謝謝8/27號當天所有的值班人員

Super clean. Super cute. The best hostel ever I've stayed when travelling. They have everything you need from rubber band, cotton pad to sanitary. Quite surprised. The staffs are so friendly and helpful.

— Location. Many foods, shop around, also 7/11. Easy go to Bus station, MRT Cons:
— Not too many bathrooms so need to wait in high occupancy.

One of the best hostels I've ever been to.

Overall, Star Hostel left me with the impression of a lively, clean and conveniently located hostel with friendly and helpful staffs that are willing to serve. I would highly recommend Star Hostel for someone who prefers convenient access in getting around Taipei city or even out of the city due to the location right next to Taipei Main Station, the city’s main transport hub where the Taipei MRT, Taoyuan Airport MRT, Taiwan Railways (TRA) trains and Taiwan High Speed Rail (HSR) services, as well as the local and intercity bus services are based at. Not only that, Star Hostel’s events such as, DIY Bubble Tea, Dumpling Party and Taiwanese snack night are activities that gives the hostel a lively vibe of fostering bonding and interaction among guests, which are highly recommended for travellers who wants to make new friends and at the same time enjoy local Taiwanese food. History and heritage enthusiasts are also highly welcomed to stay at Star Hostel because of Taipei’s historical sites like Daodaocheng 大稻埕 and Taipei Old North Gate 台北府城 北門 (永恩們), that is located within walking distance. With Star Hostel’s good reputation and affordable rates, the bookings are always in high demand, as my initial plan was to book a Single Room but it was fully booked, hence I decided to book a bed in the Deluxe Dormitory instead.

We stayed here for 3 nights in July 18. The place is clean/friendly/and well designed. We had a private double room which was small but had a very good shower/Air con/bed which are the priorities. I was a bit disapointed with the 'activities' available. As it was around the world cup soccer time the only activities were the matches on tv. There was only one weekly tour. Location wise it is a 5 minute walk from the main train station. There is a shopping mall with cinema close by. Breakfast was good.

Fantastic hostel. Gorgeous and clean on the inside, with comfortable beds and a great breakfast. The staff is delightful, especially the super helpful and ever effervescent Ping. I've stayed in over a hundred hostels all over the world and this is one of my favorites. I look forward to staying here again.

Staff are really pleasant. They even let us hang out at their lounge after we've checked out. Only downside for me would be the location, if you have a lot of luggage then it might be tiring for you to walk from Taipei Main Station to the hostel. It's manageable but it's just a really long walk.

Excellent experience! The hostel is located on the 4th and 5th floor of the building it is located at. There are a variety it rooms, some with its own shower if you have enough guest. The environment had a community center vibe. There is a lounge and a kitchen that all the guest share, and there is a shared responsibility to keep the area clean. Breakfast available every morning from 8am to 10am. At the time of this review, there were evening events such as video games and movie nights in the lounge. Staff is friendly and speaks English very well.

Beautiful hostle. One of the best I've ever stayed in. Close proximity to Taipei main station. Very clean and affordable. I would recommend anyone to stay here.

I enjoyed the white linen in room. Also lounge has huge TV screen and different section with comfort chairs, and cushions. It is a big treat especially at the end of day.

Very nice place, feelibng warm and cozy. Staff was good, common room are very nice and they have activity veryday after 9 pm. Breakfast was great.

It’s the best hostel in Taipei city. It’s less than 10 mins on foot to Taipei Main station. So, it’s very convenient to catch a train to go to (come from) Touyuan airport (桃園空港).
And this hostel is new and very clean. There are some Japanese style (Tarami) place to be relaxed. It’s great place to take a rest. Its accommodation fee is not so expensive even a single room.
If you want to be relaxed or tired of the hectic city, it’s highly recommend. People reception speak fluent English which helps me a lot!

Excellent environment, moving the line is very smooth, but also have prepared slippers, super like the island of the island, (can be turned round (wrong) moving wire stick! Bath toilet space enough, wet and dry separation, very intimate with makeup cotton, dental floss, cotton sticks, and other female health supplies ❤ The public space layout is very warm, but unfortunately the socket less, some places lack of light, but the overall is to be put into the second visit of the Hostels❤

Clean, beautiful hostel right by the main station. If you are not a fan of their breakfast (fried eggs with processed cheese sandwiches), there are plenty of cheap places to grab Taiwanese breakfast!

Great hostel, clean, comfortable, especially the design of public space, people feel very relaxed, also like the music they play!

Such a great place! They have a huge lounge area where people can hang out anytime. Family friendly too. They have a “tree house” I wanted to climb into it too. They also have a green space inside. They also have a smaller lounge area outside the secured area by the front desk. They provide slippers for your use and lockers to place the shoes you’ve used throughout the day. Super CLEAN, and organized. They staff are attentive and helpful (Thanks, AK! )
They have Free Walking Tours (didn’t have time to try it out), Good breakfast (coffee/tea in sachets, eggs, fruit, bacon and toast). If you come for breakfast before they open, they set out bread for PB&J and chocolate spread too.
The walls are great for keeping hallway noise out. I booked a double room. The door is super heavy. I had my own bathroom, a mini desk, a chair, and s TV. Housekeeping comes and empty the trash (I stayed 2 Days)
To me the location is ideal. When you exit the hostel entrance, to the Left across the street is Taiwan Main Station. Ladies! There is shopping galore! QStreet is like a mall. Underneath it is the train station that is chock full of restaurants, road shops, etc.
Exit right, there is a 7/11, and at night the street area a block over turns into a Night Market. It’s not as big and touristy as Shilin or Raohe. It’s a smaller local Night Market.
And! On the other side of the street is the Taoyuan Airport MRT (Purple). And for an affordable price NTD$160.

Highly recommend. Was impressed by the decoration and energetic staff. Love the common area which make my short trip to Taipei wonderful. Its location is not perfect but very closed to Taipei station, just 7 mins walk to the airport coach. Breakfast is basic. Btw, may I know where to buy those pillow case and bed sheet? they are perfect! the only negative thing comes to my mind : thank you for the sleeping and sleepy security guard who helped me to check in at 0230

The whole facility was clean, beautifully made, and comfortable. Everything was thoughtfully made out (dryers, q-tips, drinking station w hot water, lounge area). The staff were so very kind and helpful and went out of their way to create a festive Lunar New Year spirit. The beds were comfortable. The rooms were nicely laid out with privacy curtains, lockers, universal plugs and little personal light. Would definitely recommend.

A very relaxing hostel with helpful staff. Clean and neat. The location is very convenient with Taipei Station close by. If you are looking for some inexpensive and chill place to stay at in Taipei, this is a good choice.

I lived at dorm 8 persons/room. Everything is super clean. Nice staffs, great with English communication. Huge living room. Must visit a bar at hostel, cocktails are great.

Although the facilities are good, it's more like a commercial boutique hotel rather than a backpacker place.

Affordable and great place to stay. The workers here are super nice and accommodating. You need to take your shoes off in the main area. The air conditions are awesome. The proximity to Taipei Main Station is a plus too!

(Stayed in Feb 2015) In summary, I would definitely choose to come back to this property. Such a pleasure. Location: 5-7 minute walk from Taipei Main Station, which is a central transport hub for their MRT, as well as rail lines to locales outside of Taipei. On a quaint street close to some local food, a 7-11, and a New Year market. Never heard any street noise from my room. Room: Clean, fresh. Nothing seemed old in the room. Their housekeeper comes daily to empty garbages and replace towels. Has an air conditioning, but sadly no heat. The room maintained a temperature of 20 degrees if I didn't use any A/C. Bed is comfortable and clean; had no issues sleeping. I chose this place because you get your own en-suite bathroom, which has hot water, and free shampoo and body wash. No complaints there. I really appreciate the open-concept sink and large mirror, and that long counter top where I can keep all my belongings without messing up the bed or the floor, a convenience I didn't realize I needed until I had it. Room also contained a desk with lamp — just another added convenience. All the little things Star Hostel provided really added up to a great experience. Nice TV in the room as well. Amenities: Wifi was fast enough, never had any cutouts or slowdowns. The free breakfast is superb, and though I rarely choose to stick around for hotel breakfasts, I did for this one. The staff are so friendly — greeting you good morning and bringing your meal to where you choose to sit.

Front desk attendance is one of the best! and huge living space makes people so comfortable. If man have privacy in men's room would be perfect. (there is the bath room for ladies,,, and,,, ladies and men, when I was using a piss bowl, women passing right next to me. I believe she saw my! ick. )

Clean and quiet. Really liked the bed curtains at the dormitory, gives a private space.
