Poor room service, rude staff, no fans in rooms and the floor and walls were damp once the AC temperature was increased, lizard in the bathroom, rusty water from the tap and you can hear almost everything happening in the room next to you.

Had to ask and remind about almost everything, like making the room, complimentary water bottles, delivery of room service — you name it.
Room not equipped as described in webpage. Lobby is shining but not the rest of the hotel!

We really can't thank you enough — It really was the dream come true wedding. We were absolutely blessed with the weather and got our wish to have an outdoor ceremony. It really was everything we asked and more so we can't thank you enough! It is definitely a day we will never forget. All guests were raving about how beautiful the hotel was and the staff and food and how lovely and friendly the boys in reservations were.

We had a dinner out with my ifs team mates. Food and arrangements are great at this place. And also a friendly staff. Had a great time.

Worst service ever, bloody workers dont even care after the payments are made for the booking. Booked 2 rooms and made reservations for 2 tables. Two hours gone still waiting till they arrange. Worst ever experience in a hotel in SL. Poor management. Doesnt know to communicate to customers. Never go to this place. No people at the reception.

Cleanliness isn't up to the expectation. Veg food was good. As it is a beach resort, we could enjoy the sea.

Comfortable beds and a decent breakfast. Staff was courteous if not especially friendly. Housekeeping needs to do a more thorough job of cleaning the rooms and attending to the overall upkeep of the public spaces. Decor is public areas is borderline depressing. We stood confused in the "reception lobby" for a few minutes before realizing that the small desk in one corner was the reception desk. Seemed like a decent enough hotel for a short stay. However, the washroom smelled strongly of urine and the only solution we were offered was air freshener which wore off in a couple of hours. An unclean washroom is unforgivable so I will certainly not be returning.

Berjaya had ample parking space. Food was tasty. Good hospitality. But the place was not contemporary.

Main attraction for the hotel is its location, just 5 minutes walk to the lovely mount lavinia beach. Good food goes well with the beach front hotel. There is also a easy access to the beach through the hotel over a bridge across the adjacent railway line. Plenty of good bar cum restaurants in the beach with several dining options. Close proximity to city center. Good for leisure seekers looking for beach cum city experience in close proximity.

Participated as a speaker in an event organized by an organization. Parking space was enough. Food was average. The place is good for an event with around 100 participants. May be they have a bigger hall than that.

We were only there one morning to use the pool, we were charged the full price of the ticket although we specified only in the morning. Many tiles are missing, but we found several people intent on roof maintenance so I think it's only a matter of time before they get to the pool. The water is clean and the pool has a space specifically for children and a deeper space for the rest of the guests. The atmosphere is quiet and the staff looks friendly and helpful.

Nice accommodation. Only Narrow passage, different levels of flooring for approaching the basement floor rooms. A very beautiful and big dinning hall. Food is also good.

The food is delicious and very well presented. The staff is very professional and always smiling. Really great experience.

Good beach resort. Nice ambience and decent food but service is not so great. There were issues with AC and door locking but it wasn't resolved even after complaining.

The property is average and the location is decent. They have their own private beach shack but it’s not that great. Food was good however the wait times were quite a lot. Rooms were horrible and the lighting was even worse. The manager was good to talk to. Their transport desk was also good and helpful.

Went there for an event! Place is clean. Staff was helpful. Food was good and tasty! Desserts and drinks were also good! It may not look modern but the place is good for a day-outing! Pool area is big and clean!

Room was okay. Food was served on beach side restaurant where lot of music and dance was going on. There was no option to eat inside hotel. Beach side restaurant is almost 600 metres away and one needs to walk down and cross a overbridge above train line. For Old persons it is really painful. And the dance and music is very loud and some people may not like it. But, no option for the customers. Hotel management may please have a look and do needful.

Sad experience. The hotel itself is very average, acceptable, however. However, we had booked and specified several times that we wanted to be quiet. Bad surprise, a wedding held in the hotel. The manager tells us that we will not hear the music, I promise… Promise, of course not kept. The personnel coming in we distribute ear plugs and tells us that music is up at 06h in the morning. We decided to change hotel for the night and return the next day. And the next day, on our return, we learn that the music will continue throughout the day until the evening of 23… Out of the question, we decide to leave permanently. Of course, they want to make us pay the full amount of the reservation. After many palaver, and thanks to our guide, we get a discount. Conclusion : We will not be returning anytime soon. The lack of honesty is absolutely unacceptable.

We had our wedding at Berjaya on the 02nd of December 2017. It was a wonderful experience for me and my bride. All arrangements were perfect and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially Mohan the manager was a great support. He coordinated everything very well. They gave a good service not just during the wedding but also during our stay there. I would willingly recommend Berjaya for anyone who plans to have their function or have a stay in the lovely hotel.

Best place to stay around in Colombo. Rooms can be better. Good quality food and ambiance. You can have pool side view from the hotel. There is beach behind the hotel. Over all it’s a perfect place for holiday in Colombo.

Not a pleasant place to stay. The hotel needs some makeover looks like it was built in 1980 and no renovation has been done till date. We couldn't sleep because there is a train track at some 30 meters the sound of train passing by wakes you u up. Interiors were damaged and cleanliness was not maintained. The hotel reception was not able to handle front desk properly they were as if handling a department store. Not recommend! Only ocean view is not enough.

Pathetic vegetation food… Although close to the beach, the hotel is not worth being called 3 Star… It's actually a 1 Star or 2 Star Hotel. The hotel is very very under staffed and had no staff absolutely to service the customers. Most of the staff is old and grumpy. The pool is good but has no changing room. The staff hardly understands English. The restaurant is very poor and the waiters there seem clueless. Overall, staff there is clueless.

The hotel doesn't look quite appealing as it is quite old and needs a good amount of renovation to look pleasing. The reception area also is not like any of the new hotels. They failed to provide us with adjacent rooms unlike the other hotels in SriLanka as they claimed that one of their guests who was supposed to check out didn't. This is in a way not a welcome gesture as if any guest wishes to overstay they should have been asked to move to another room if that room is booked for any other guest. The Christmas gala dinner was good and the spread was quite elegant. All the rooms don't have a great view as they are barred by shade. A train like runs behind the hotel so you can hear trains crossing most of the time. You need to cross an over bridge to reach the beach adjacent to it which is quite good.

Life-threatening pool with open power cans and countless missing tiles. Lying rotted. Breakfast minimal. Pool supervisor's only bright spot. Hotel Front man rude, wake up in 2:00 at night because of a signature. Room all dirty and old. Should Google eventually be able to delete the reviews about this hotel created by hotel employees or their friends and families, any further positive reviews would be omitted. Oh yes: The train passes through the room every 10 minutes. The beach can only be reached via a bridge over the railway lines.

The location is secluded and away from main city areas. I missed my flight due to traffic jams. Room is clean and no smell at all. That's great. No toothbrush and toothpaste provided. Should provide for guests without the need to call. Security is great. I can see a few stationed around the hotel as well as on the beach side and the overhead bridge.

Staff always had a smile on their fave and if needed tried to help as good as possible. A Short distance to the beach and other restaurants. Room was pretty clean. Linen and towels were changed daily. Kids enjoyed the pool. Reception/reservation staff was helpful. Meals served in the Malaysian/Indian restaurant (on the beach) was good.

Very bad hotel, no maintenance. Manager though aware of maintenance issues hide for 2 hours. When caught red handed, trying to offer me something. Boss I just need proper minimum services at any hotel, warm water to bath. They want have any room having heater property working. If you are not able to manage such small facilities, its tough for you.

Good place to spend your leisure time. Have a good pool area which can be used for family events. Have decent parking space. Have 100 rooms and adjacent to it loon Tao and shore by o is located. Food and refreshments are also decent. It is a Malaysian investment.

The lady at the room booking section was very cordial & helpful & arranged an extra bed for us — they even arranged 4 am packed breakfast for us when we checked out — the taxi desk gentleman was very helpful in advising us about shopping places & eating places — the bathroom & room was good & clean — however there was no luggage service when we checked out at 4 am — we carried our own luggage downstairs & since there's no lift it was difficult — we even had to go back up to get room keys & give it to the front desk as there was no staff! The staff aren't up to date about local eateries & shopping in Colombo — there was a very loud late night party in the lobby hall which disturbed us in our 1st floor room.

Water stagnated at the vehicle park. Couldn't go there to get the vehicles even after small rain. Full of muddy.

Worst hotel… No proper information from front office… No Wi-Fi In rooms… Hotel is near to railway tracks… Building shakes while train traveling through… Worst customer support… All customers scolds in front office… Hotel guys simply nodes their head… Punjunt smell in rooms, lift, corridors… Suggests not to check-in this hotel…

The service was amazing. The rooms cleaned daily. Lovely hotel that was in walking distance to the beach. Shame the train line runs directly out the back of the hotel which created lots of nose every morning, through out the day and at night. Usually stopped running by 11pm. The hotel food was good. The location was great as my children wanted KFC, Burger king and Subway. Thanks to Brito for going the extra mile to enable us to enjoy our stay. Would recommend holiday makers shopping around for tours as I did found the hotel packages expensive and I done all the tours for half the price.

Rooms are good. U can see the sea from the balcony. Food is very good especially breakfast is very tasty. U can spend your evenings at the beach. I loved this place.

Very poorly managed hotel among worst I have seen. Your staff is inadequately trained and poorly motivated. Washrooms have poor ventilation. Flies on the breakfast table and Lizards in the room are very common observation. reaching room service after 10 PM is a difficult task. Room cleaning staff is good and nice. .

I really appreciate the fact that you can use the pool for just Rs 500 even if u are not a guest at the hotel.

Hi, All I'm repeater for this hotel since past two years, and this is I planed the same to visit the same place, only because of the location to be honest as my family like to be near the sea side. Since I came with the booking, im sure there was no hidden cost of anything and top of that me as tourist guest to them, without my consent my booking was changed and I got a message saying extra money and compulsory dinner night must be paid… where is my own right here. Am I servant of waiter to this place, ordering to pay… I did not want to argue as the reservation manager was an old lady which I give respect for elder people due to this I did nt blast on her… WTF is this… I will put an influence campaign in this property for what here done to me, as im also in this field for more than 20 years, so what I couldn't do, there cant do in this field. This is shit place, to be honest maintenance is very poor, pillows are so bad when you take the cover out of it, cox I seriously took a eye on this things… but all this time I did nt mention these things, because I like to stay near the beach n it was convenient for me… inbound anti campaign I will run on this property in my country… not to go there… psc of shit… horrible,,

Very nice place. Clean rooms, good buffet and indian restaurant in Rasa Malaysia. We enjoyed the stay, the view the pool. However there was slight delay in collecting our baggages which can be improved. Overall an impressive place to be.

I was at your Malaysian restaurant yesterday. And I was so disappointed about the food can't believe it's from a 4 star hotel. The fries were cold, so was the butter chicken, and the portions were tiny and lack of taste… Seriously I would never ever recommend that place to anybody! The only good thing was the poor waiter who did his best to give a good service…

If you really need to ruin your group outing or your corporate outing, you can select Berjaya hotel Colombo. You just need to contact their banquet manager — Ms. Shiromala Jayawardene. First of all she will arrange your buffet without the main dish. Once you ask their chef regarding the main dish, he will say Shiromala hasn't informed us about that. After showing your package details, they will agree to provide you the main dish. But it will take 45 minutes. If you have ordered a veg pasta or any other veg item, I am sorry to say that you are again in a trouble. They will provide bacon pasta instead of your veg pasta. Once you ask about that, chef will give the same answer "Shiromala hasn't informed us about that". Then your vegetarian people can enjoy only the salads and other condiments with pleasure. I have never seen such a irresponsible banquet manager in any hotel in Sri Lanka.

This is one of most insecure property that you can ever stay with, there is no security in the hotel, no cctv cameras in the corridor, no locks in the window, some one enters your room when the room is locked and the keys are with you and steals your valuables and money from your bag. Hotel does not take any responsibility of the lost valuables when things are stolen inside there hotel. Pls dont stay in this property ever, Mr Pravir Mishra who is the General Manager is not supportive at all and is quiet arrogant in nature.

I liked the mode of reservation. I didn't have to pay in order to book a room rather pay after my stay. At the reception the staff were exceptionally professional. Room service was good. Not enough porters, had to help ourselves with our bags in and out. Breakfast was good with a wide variety. The food at their beach restaurant was super good.

For casual visitors the only attraction for me is the pool bar, however getting a waiter is always a problem. WARNING Check your bil carefully. There are no facilities for the disabled and management shows complete indifference to this issue. The Hotel charges 5 Star prices for 1 star quality. The Hotel has great potential but is, sadly, badly mamaged. This review dated 20th October 2013.
