More appearances than being The hotel keeps a lot on itself and decadent and overbearing manner is reflected on every corner.
The exterior initially allowed it to be completely returned to the colonial era. Entrance area, lounges, etc. Are figureheads for Good old Britain …
The first big disappointment awaits you in the room. This is delivered with old furniture, so that one feels more like a camp. Large chunky cupboards, unusable secretaries and chairs, thrown together little tables to compulsively accommodate a modern TV and minibar.
A small staircase leads to the bathroom, which has to be done first due to the tightness (suitcase bench).
The same is definitely getting older, but at least not delivered by unnecessary equipment.
At dinner and breakfast, the pompous appearance is then increased to the climax. I was already used to large buffets but not in this exaggerated presentation. Each starter was served on old silver spoons or bowls.
Most meat dishes fried on site and also with dessert, a person was prepared to cut the respective fruit in a mouth-appropriate way.
In this remote place, albeit for Sri Lankan conditions the place of tourism, I found this exaggerated and opulent depiction of luxury to be completely out of place.
Lars but not least with all the luxury, Wi-Fi was only available in the reception area.
Not to be forgotten is the famous tea time. Quite attached in this tea region, but somewhat uncomfortable with the little dragon, who commanded the staff with a hard hand and a sharfemTon.
All in all: Not my style.
