This was my 2nd visit with my wife and mom to the Mango Garden Hotel, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Kandy to be honest. It's close to all the sites you want to see and located near the lake. The owner — Malik and the hotel staff always pay attention to detail and make your stay feel like you are home away from home. Malik also gives super advice on tours and what to do in and around the area, so make sure to speak to him. Their breakfast is amazing with an array of food to keep you going until dinner, trust me you will need it with all the walking around to do in Kandy! The outdoor sitting/dining area is the best place to unwind after a Tour of the city, its almost as if time stands still just sitting there while drinking your pot of tea. Overall, a homely place to stay when you go upcountry with loving care from all the staff at Mango Garden.

Great place cool in the mountain but is only 10min. Walk from town along the Kandy Lake. Good breakfast but the local rice and curry is one of the best I had in Sri Lanka. Good start from there to get all info for travelling around Sri Lanka.

Just excellent! Friendly and very helpful staff. Giving good advise about Kandy and arrange pickups, train tickets and above all a fun manager (Malik). Friend, thank you for everything! Alex & Huub.

The staff are friendly.
Free pickup from the station is a nice touch.
Rooms are basic and clean.
The view from the top balcony while have a quiet beer is very pleasent.
One of the staff moved a small fridge into our room for us to keep our beer cold.
All in all a pleasent stay for 2 nights.

Nice place for diner outside. Mostly tourists. Good rice & curry friendly staff.

Lovely hotel with a beautiful veranda just near to the Kandy lake. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights whilst in Kandy, everything was ok and price may well be fair for Kandy, the room was simple and a little sparse, nice restaurant (more expensive than local eats but good) and the breakfast buffet of tea coffee toast jam plus string hoppers dahl and coconut sambol with roti was delicious. The terrace was lovely to sit on of an evening but loud building work nearby, limited soft drinks no alcohol. Monkeys, chipmunks, lizards and birds all present here. Staff were warm enough; our tuk tuk driver took us round patiently but it may be cheaper to walk down to the main road and haggle! Walking distance to the lake, market, town centre and temple.

This review is for the ticket service only. Mr. Malik helped us to get reservations on the "sold out" train from Kandy to Ella. He did a great job. He got us the tickets early in the morning and texted us about that at 7 AM so we did not have to hurry to stand in the line for the non-reservation tickets.

A place where you can find all Lonely Planet's readers… Is it why the cook doesn't care anymore? We ordered fried noodles with veg & chicken and we ended up with a huge pile in our plate, mostly constituted of overcooked noodles. The staff was nice but didn't realy seem concerned.

Nice place to stay. The food especially the breakfast is great.

Quality foods and Excellent service with low price. Good for authentic Sri Lankan foods and Indian Cuisine.

Home of malik and his sister warm and professional clean rooms good food terrace friendly despite new construction nearby.

Food is Okay, waiting on a Lions: 30 Miniten to the can from the fridge to increase. Unfortunately, unacceptable.
