Amazing stay with Kamal at Sandil’s! The room is great, very clean and spacious inside with AC. Also great location, within walking distance to shops, beaches and restaurants but what makes it special is we felt like family and the food is incredible!
Every morning we were greeted with either a fruit plate or traditional Sri Lankan breakfast and tea/coffee. Without a doubt the best food we have eaten.
Kamal took my boyfriend to a fish market one morning to pick fish that was cooked that evening for dinner.
We couldn’t be more grateful for our welcome to Sri Lanka. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked again for our next stay in Ahangama.
A sashimi and wine bar is opening downstairs soon and we can’t wait to try it when it opens!

Many thanks to Kamal and Shani! Rested in February in Ahangama at the Kamal-Sandil House. No hotel has ever welcomed us so warmly. Very open, caring family. Snani cooks delicious food. The sea is very near, the market and cafes too. I will gladly return to Kamal and Shani.

I am so confused by the amazing reviews. Unfortunately I had not the same experience. It seems that only some of the rooms look like the pictures in the advertising. I wouldn't have minded if I would have gotten a decent older room eventough for the price I paid I actually expected a modern room; however the room offered was not clean at all, the bed/mattress was broken, there was a woodworm living in the bed frame and the staff did not even care enough to remove the excess wood dust from the bed frame.
The bath room was full of ants, the toilet bowl seemed not clean, there was used soap/ — residue which was only cleaned when I pointed that out. The table cloth was sticky and not cleaned and so on…
I asked for a different room but they were fully booked and offered me to cancel instead. There was no words of sorry or support to find any other place to stay instead. From the arrival to my departure the staff seemed not very welcoming and so unfortunately I cannot recommend to stay there.
