Nothing interesting here… Used to have a wired Mall, maybe the Biblioteca and the art gallery is one of the best around, but not a big deal, grab a bicycle and go down to the river…

Hotel is clean, quite modern and the cafe bar is good, the tapas bar attached leaves a bit to be desired. Main course came before we had finished starter and not cheap!

The Puerta de Toledo was erected to commemorate the arrival in Madrid of Fernando VII el Deseado, near the district of La Latina. It seems that the project of the door was made under the reign of Joseph Bonaparte, although finally the return to the throne of Ferdinand VII stopped that project, which was replaced by another that was commissioned Antonio Lopez Aguado.
López Aguado used granite and Colmenar stone to build a neo-Roman style door, which ended in 1827. Composed of three arches, two sides of square structure and one central half-point, the door of Toledo has spans flanked by half columns with ionic capitals in the central arch and Ionic pilasters in the others.
In the face that faces the Manzanares River, above the central arch, a group of sculptures was installed by Valeriano Salvatierra and Ramón Barba, representing the power of the Spanish monarchy in both hemispheres. Also on this side, in the upper part of the other two arches, several military trophies were placed. Finally, on the opposite side of the monument, is shown the emblem of the town of Madrid supported by two geniuses.

At present the Puerta de Toledo is considered a monument of the city. The restorations made by the City Council of Madrid in 1995permiten that regain some of the original aspect. Today's Puerta de Toledo is already the third gate to bear this name. The second was in the construction of the fourth city wall under Philip IV. 1625 was located near the present building. The name stems from the fact that the road towards Toledo began here.
The first plans for the representative reconstruction of the city gate were already in the time of the Napoleonic occupation of Spain (1808 – 1813) under King Joseph Bonaparte. The end of the occupation, however, also meant the end of this project. Instead, the city administration commissioned the architect Antonio López Aguado with the construction of a triumphal arch on the occasion of the restoration of the Bourbons under Ferdinand VII.
The works lasted from 1813 to 1827. The town wall was 1868, the Puerta de Toledo and the Puerta de Alcalá are the only city gates to be preserved.

Simplicity of the room. The double lock and the key is an old-fashioned. The room is clean and correct, have to be reformed and updated. But in general this is very correct.

The hotel seems to be very good: quiet, clean, and safe. Very well located: it is close to the historic centre and also has a metro station at the front.

It is not a 5 star hotel but it is a high quality hotel and the treatment to tourists is the best. I would certainly stay at this hotel.

As a market or shopping center never worked too well due to the structure of the building and the lack of variety of shops (only worked The Oca and Dideco). The architect, he covered himself with glory, making a building dump on itself, outwardly it does not look like a mall and almost any store would give the outside. Good evening, I have visited 3 times (November 2012, March 2013, January 2014) Spain and I have stayed at the hotel Puerta de Toledo, very good, I felt like in my house, a special place to enjoy the beauty of Madrid, all have it nearby, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Gran Via, you can go walking and thus enjoying morevery safe and quiet, I recommend it.

Is an old hotel with tiny rooms, you awkward, poor service and a horrible breakfast! Coffee should come out of the washing machine, garage pay as gold but do not ensure you that you can use it and the bathroom is very cumbersome. I do not recommend it, for the same price there are better sites.

I only assess the restaurant. Their sandwiches and their sandwiches are her strong point. The dishes are also worth. Since 1 year ago that changed waiter and potato chips are not the same, but the quality of the menus is very good. To make a qualitative comparison, it is the same here eating a sandwich giant farmer than a few rolls of 100 montaditos.
