Itaca Hostel Hostel

Well, I was excited to stay here until my trip was canceled. I tried to get a refund (outside of 48 hours from check-in and within 24 hours of booking) but they refused. They also refused a voucher to use another day. I understand you have to have a policy but when someone is at the edge of that policy and you coldly refuse, you show them your humanity. They had the chance to make a loyal customer and chose 31 Euro instead. I had booked the last bed they had available on a holiday weekend so I wouldn't say I am putting them out in the cold. I'll be finding a different hostel next time I come to BCN.

First time staying in a Hostel and it was really great. Most staff were really friendly and the hostel was really clean. Only problem was the guy who ran the pub crawl on the Tuesday night. He was fine at first but then got really drunk and quite aggressive and tried to send us to bed!?!? was very weird. Then the next night the same guy was really drunk in the lobby drooling on himself. Other than that my mate and I had a really positive experience.

Itaca Hostel is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in and I've stayed in a great many. Best location in Barcelona (metro, supermarkets, gothic cathedral, beach all within walking distance), clean rooms, nice common areas to meet people. Every person that works here is just really nice and they genuinely care about you: the reception, the staff, the cleaners, everyone. It's a great team. They do everything they can to make sure that the place is always clean even though in a hostel environment that can be hard. They are very concerned if people are making noise in your room at unreasonable hours but also try to make sure everyone is socialising and partying properly with their sangria nights and pub crawls led by the illustrious and mysterious Marlon. I would really like to thank Itaca Hostel for making my stay in Barcelona perfect.

Booked here because on hostelworld it gets great ratings. I'm not sure how this is possible. The only good thing about this place is the location. The whole place is smoke filled because the guests are allowed to smoke on the tiny balconies and it just wafts back inside, beds are bunks beds meant for children (I have slept in lots of bunks but these are terrible) and there's not enough bathrooms or showers for the number of beds. No social vibe either. I left early before our last day because it was awful. Oh, and they make you sign a policy before you even see your rooms that there are no refunds for any reason. I've stayed on a LOT of hostels and this one was the worst.

Nice Service and small Community Stay in the Entrance area. Cosy room, unfortunately only Shared Bathrooms. But in the middle of the Gothic Quarter.

Like just about everyone putting their reviews here, I will say that the staff is amazing. They're always down to help you and truly restored part of my faith in the friendliness of the people of Barcelona, who can be pretty rude once they know you're not Spanish/Catalonian. I personally don't have anything negative to say about the cleanliness of the place, but I would like for them to bring breakfast back. I would also definitely recommend joining Sangria Night, and the other nights if I'd been there!

Central and beautiful location, 100 meters from the beautiful cathedral. Small and really nice hostel, clean, friendly staff and always helpful and speaks Italian… Highly Recommended!

For a hostel, the experience you get definitely depends on the other people you are staying with, so every experience will be different. Mine was great. The staff (Diego, Martin, and a woman from Argentina) have all been very friendly. I highly recommend taking them up on their offers of sangria night and other in house festivities. The people I stayed with were all great too. All around awesome.

Staff were amazing; so great to chat to and knowledgeable. Really does feel cosy there. Location in incredible but the vibe so nice it’s hard to want to leave the hostel. Only down side is that the bed linen is kinda gross but if you have a bed liner like I use that’s not as much of a deal breaker.

Very clean. Toilet and sink in the twin room. Showers clean and spacious. I was very impressed with this hostel.

Perfect. Located two steps from Barcelona Cathedral and 4 from Catalonia Square, this hostel has everything you need and come to expect from a hostel. Great common area. Great rooms (good comfortable beds with lockers — both lockers and beds have electricity plug ins). Great kitchen. Toilets and showers very clean and spacious. The staff very friendly and available front desk 24h. Will be here again for sure. Thanks.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Clean and well kept. A good value for the money. We stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The location is perfect. Everything you could desire is a short walk away. Most within just a few blocks at most. Will definitely consider another stay next time I visit Barcelona.

I never write reviews online, ever, but this place was so above and beyond amazing that I must. The staff and general atmosphere is something that ive never really seen in a hostel, and ive traveled quite a bit. The sangria night was amazing and I really enjoyed my stay here, will definitely be back again soon.

Fantastic location where you'll meet great people in the common room. Fantastic location right in the centre of everything. There is a good kitchen so you can cook your own food and it is very secure for securing your items. The beds are not great, however, with very thin mattresses and no air conditioning.

Excellent hostel, very good care, good rooms, bathrooms. Very advisable to very good price.

We have spent 5 days in this hostel, we had a Great Time, it is closed to everything which is great when you have children :-)

We stayed in two hostels in Barcelona and this was by far SO MUCH BETTER than the other hostel we stayed in. The location was perfect (right next to the cathedral and also the metro), the staff was amazing (extremely helpful and welcoming), and everything was clean and neat. I will definitely be staying here again next time I come back to Barcelona!

The perfect hostel. Great location in the Gothic quarter and the beautiful cathedral. Amazing staff with years of travel experience and knowledge of not only Barcelona but many other places. 24 hour reception desk, amazing facilities including balconies you can sit on and unlimited coffee and tea. Kitchen and bathrooms are always clean and living area is comfortable with lots of Spanish TV channels. On top of that they have a nice vibe to the hostel, relaxed but respectful. Not a party hotel but I went to couch surfing meetings every day and came back late so it was fine as long as you go back to your bed quietly. Nice touches like communal areas in bathrooms which had toothpaste left by other travellers. This is great as I could not take liquids on the plane I got so I left my shampoos and body wash there. Better than chucking it in the bin. They have thought of everything including putting chargers in lockers. The staff we so kinda and amazing. One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in.

I stayed at Itaca Hostel for one week. I must say it was a very pleasant surprise. Management folks were very kind and recommended lots of places to visit and to eat. Great atmosphere throughout the whole week. I had the chance to meet people from all over the world (e. G. Australia, New Zeland, UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Israel, Canada, and more). I highly recommend this hostel. You cannot us for a place more central but still quiet than this. Thumbs up.

Really above and beyond! I arrived with a lot of stuff at the end of a bike tour in the Pyrenees, and the folks at Itaca were really kind and accommodating with my large amount of luggage and unusual schedule. The location is awesome, and the hostel is chill. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
