This would have been five stars if the air conditioning worked well. The room was lovely, the staff was friendly, but man it was hot, which made it uncomfortable to sleep. We told the front, but they just told us it was Spain — but why was the hallway and breakfast room so cool then? I had to sleep naked with an cool towel around my neck, which I'm sure my husband didn't mind…

After reading reviews, was pretty nervous to get there. Amazing place and people. There were 8 of us, and all were impressed with the rooms. They were clean, the beds were very comfortable, it was quiet to sleep. The place had been renovated very modern and relaxing. Air conditioning worked, and the staff spoke fluent English for us, for which I was grateful. Would stay again there and recommend. If you are getting off at the cruise terminal, take a cab. It's a lot longer walk then you think… Metro right there by the hotel, and cab service also. Breakfast was phenomenal. Get it! Fresh baked breads, and fresh squeezed fruit juices. Catered to many different countries way of eating in the morning. Had dinner there one night. American Angus burger, turkey club, and a chicken dish. Delicious. Turkey was baked, not deli meat.

We booked this hotel as a very good deal came up for a double room, our standards were high when we entered the hotel knowing it was four star. The receptionists were friendly and the check-in process was easy, they even showed us a map and pointed out the best routes to key attractions. Throughout our trip we revisited reception from time to time, we always left with answers to our questions. Now first impressions of the room were very high, the main room was spacious and the bathroom was possibly the best I've seen in a hotel. The bathroom had excellent facilities like a modern and powerful hairdryer. Other positives of this hotel would the the quality cleaning service delivered everyday, it was nice to come back to a spotless room after a long day out. Finally, the location was superb, everything is so close and the metro is outside making further excursions easy. Now I'll move onto the negatives of the hotel. First of all the double room we booked was two singles pushed together, usually this doesn't bother me but we had two single duvets and the beds parted if you were in the middle. This held me back from having a comfortable nights sleep for the majority of the trip. Another cause of disruption at night would be the ancient air conditioning unit used, it was barely noticeable that it was on!

Rooms are clean and tidy but a bit old breakfast rich location near the beach, sprinkle storefront on the Medanou and snack shop.

Great hotel with qualified staff and nice spacious rooms with new bathrooms and modern perfect cleanliness I recommend.

Really modern hotel in a good location. We had a leisurely stroll down to Port Vell for drinks, several blocks away. Like other hotels at this time of year, there is no cooling system, so again we had to sleep with the windows open. They didn't open enough to let much air in but we could hear all of the street noise which was frustrating. Thankfully our room didn't face the main road so it was slightly less noisy than it could have been.

Hubby and I recently traveled to Barcelona for a cruise, staying at this hotel both before the cruise for 2 days as well as 1 day after the cruise returned. We stayed in an interior room the first time and exterior room the 2nd. I'll start with the positives of this hotel. — the breakfast was fantastic, lots of different options and quite impressive. — cleanliness of room and hotel common areas appeared to be good. — service at front desk seemed welcoming and friendly, they provided maps and advice on places to get food. Negatives: — King size bed was 2 twin mattresses pushed together, not attached in any way to one another, so forget about cuddling, unless you wanna wind up on the floor. — Maybe it's a European vs USA thing, but the a/c in room was very poor. We called front desk, they sent a maintenance guy and he tried to give a song & dance that it might be a 'leak' in the window. Um, ok, sure. Didn't solve the coolness issue. — Second stay with the exterior room was noisy. Not just from the outside street noise, but because they had booked others beside our room with an adjoining door that you could hear their conversations, which didn't appear to be heated or any unusual increase on volume, just poor sound proof. — Service @ bar when we requested a glass of ice was not friendly. Seems to be common theme in Europe to not serve ice, but I'm from the USA and require cold water with ice.

I’m not sure we stayed at the same hotel as others writing positive reviews. Staff were disinterested and unhelpful. The key cards in elevators didn’t work half of the time. The worst was the soundproofing in our room (453). Not sure if it’s a problem with that particular room but we could hear everything from the corridor and the room next door. Including someone snoring very loudly all night. We are used to living in a large city and the level of noise from inside the hotel was reminiscent of a student dormitory. There was very heavy rain during the night and the design of the window sills outside makes it sound like there are fireworks going off just outside your window. On the plus sides are the location next to the metro station and newly refurbished rooms with comfortable beds.

Staff was very friendly and helpful at check in/out. Breakfast was amazing, so worth the extra charge. No pool/sitting area, but a sitting area is being built, and because I wasn’t there for a pool, that does not matter to me. Bed was very comfortable and I really enjoyed my 2 nights, 3 days there.

Nice, clean, central hotel. Breakfast is amazing and rooms are spotless. Noisy at front bedrooms at night but I guess this is not the hotels fault. Over all, a great place to stay.

It has the best breakfast I saw in a hotel! In terms of quality and varied meals. Excellent! The rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. Very nice staff. The location is fine and with public transport nearby. You can find very good weather deals.

Great hotel. It is in a great location, because it is a few meters from Las Rambla and is close to everything, monuments (magic Fountains, Monument to Colombo, Church of the Sea, cathedral). We also arrived on foot at Casa Batloo and La Sagrada Familia (although they are a few km away, because there are many monuments along the way). In any case the Metro is just a short walk from the hotel. The breakfast is very nice and the staff are very helpful. We had dinner one night in the hotel and we ate well.

The location is excellent, close to the subway entrance and next to a bus stop.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, because we achicharramos in the room in the middle of the winter with the window open for two days, a fashion imposed by some hotels, in winter only air conditioning Hot, and in two days and being a first floor not cold, so if you're hot I do not recommend this hotel, as it will cost you sleep (my partner is whopping and slept without blankets) and I think that is the priority when we stay anywhere, of course commented at the time to the staff, but can not do anything, a shame, if not, would be perfect, but it is just the opposite, nothing advisable.

The agent at the desk could not find my non-changeable, non-refundable reservation and insisted that I simply sit in the lobby and wait an indeterminate amount of time for my reservation to magically appears before allowing me to check in. Upon asking for other options other than waiting for hours in a lobby when I'd rather be sleeping, he offered me a higher room rate than I purchased despite seeing my reservation information on the phone. I agreed to the higher rate due to intense fatigue and taking into account that he could/would not call any Wyndham reservation resources to confirm my reservation details. Surely enough, even after making explicit checks that my Wyndham rewards details were taken into the system, I have not been awarded points for my stay. I will have to chase them down on my end because it seems this hotel simply does not care. The room itself was OK, nothing extraordinary though. Very disappointing experience due to the rude and unhelpful staff.

A business hotel suited for anyone here on business. The hotel was undergoing renovations when I was visiting, but thankfully I was allocated to one of the refurbished rooms. Breakfast was lovely with wide selection of protein, pastries and fruits to choose from. The stay came with a complimentary access to one of the local gyms (10 minute walk from the hotel) that has access to swimming pool, sauna and fitness room (be prepared for a few ancillary fees for towels, lockers, etc. )

Central Hotel and easy access to get in and out of the city.

An experience with a good personal treatment, the buffet-style breakfasts are well varied, would only require more types of coffee and/or alternatives. The beds are clean and comfortable, the bathrooms are spacious and well-equipped.

This hotel puts itself on a pedestal by claiming its "4 star hotel" the only thing modern about this place is the renovated lobby and restaurant. Once you get into the tiny elevators to the rooms, it's another story. The rooms are outdated but livable and the amenities are bearable. I wouldn't recommend this place again. It gets 2 stars for its nice staff and excellent location.

We are not satisfied at all! It started at check-in. The gentleman at the reception said he can upgrade us and we agreed. On floor 5 arrived, the first disappointment. The green carpet in the hallway totally old and filthy. The room was at first sight not the banger but OK. When we tried to lie down at noon, we realized how bad the bed was. There is also a building site behind the house that is so noisy that you can barely sleep.
Oh yes, to upgrade! The upgrade included a treadmill in the room!? The whole mess!
When we got down to complain, the gentleman couldn't offer us another room. We have now spent the last night in the upgraded room and are totally sleepy because of the noise of the building site and the back pain from the bed.
The night costs €130. Of course, what can we expect in Barcelona? The pictures and the four * * * * have worked seriously, but unfortunately a pure one!

Hotel was overbooked our first night and we were sent to another hotel for the night. As compensation we were upgraded and mini bar was all included. Despite the hassle of the first night, the hotel is in a very good location and they did a good job in making it up to us.

Staff helpful, polite and ready to solve any problem, also speak Italian, the hotel is clean with spacious rooms and is in a great location, close to the Rambla and the port, a few meters away is the metro and bus stop, great.

Air in room does not circulate properly! Everything in the room is old! Only the TV is updated! The room is musty! The hallway carpet worn down. The lobby and exterior is very deceiving. Once you exit the elevators the hotel almost appears under construction. The carpet is horribly worn down. Our bathroom door would not shut. The mold over the vent grew during our four days stay. You can tell they attempted to paint over it. You can hear the people on the street as if the window was open at all times. The bed is hard and low to the ground! We could feel the springs. When We complain they offered us an upgrade for $35 additional a night so we could have a better bed and the air work properly. The workout facility and pool are not on the premises you have to take a 10-minute walk. Disappointed in Wydham.

Safety chain on the door was broken, room safe wasn't working, and room was extremely hot. Called maintenance, the safe was fixed with a new battery. They didn't have the part to fix the door. The A/C was tested, and air coming out was 12.5C/54F, more than acceptable. However the issue was the fan barely blew, even on the highest setting. The room took almost 12 hours just to get down to an acceptable level. Bed was hard, not comfortable. Wouldn't stay again.

It was a great experience. We stayed my daughter and I from 28 December 2016 to 01 Jan 2017. We had never eaten so well and so much during breakfast: there was everything from sweets to savory foods, from fruit juices to coffee! Bacon, eggs, cold cuts, sausages, cheeses of all kinds, cakes etc… We celebrated my daughter's birthday in a disco whose ticket we were given by the staff at the front desk.
All the staff has always been friendly, helpful, prepared for our every request! Well, well and well!

In a quite convenient location to reach Barceloneta, the property is located in a busy and noisy street. The hotel has large and comfortable rooms although not really modern.

We have been a night this weekend and we liked the hotel in general, Super staff and also breakfast, good location.
It only remarkable is that the rooms are quite outdated and them bathrooms not is have reformed from makes many years, serious required

Despite our loyalty has the Melia chain for several years, we were disappointed with this hotel. The only positives are our eyes: the proximity of the old Barcelona and the sea, and the kindness of reception and baggage boys.
The negatives: too loud, too many Asians in seminar little respect Western standards and morals; parking proposed a € 21 per day, so narrow that even a three door would have a hard time has pass, an SUV even bother to risk him dentyne deeply; just nearby and his left is further parking for €35 / 3 days!
Attention to what you consume at the bar of your room. You'll want a store, because you may have the unpleasant surprise of disappearances of beverages or other products after the passage of the maids!
If you had opted for meals at the hotel, breakfast is upstairs on the left and holds up the dinner while you take on the ground floor in a lacks it looks same not an ordinary bistro of province.
Then it was noted several flaws of tiling, plumbing, woodwork, electrical installation, bathroom/WC, which should not be given the right of car call a hotel 4 star, but between 2 and 2, 5/star… And I myself considered nice… a wise.

Not up to par for a 4 star and its price. Beds are bad because they are past their prime. The place is clean to a fault all the bathroom fixtures have their chrome plating worn out to the point there is mire brass visible. Yes location is good and it has Good Wi-Fi and a scary basement parking.

Location is good, there are bars and restaurants close by. Rooms could do with some updating. Service is friendly and tentative.

Only for vampires who want to sleep during the day. At night you can hear the music from the disco downstairs (that opens seven nights a week), apart from the noises of a drunk legion. Completely impossible to sleep and not recommendable at all.

The hotel is sure to refurbish in look a bit dated, but I found the staff helpful, friendly and professional, comfortable and spacious guest rooms, an exceptional breakfast, even for those who are gluten-intolerant, and a strategic location, at the exit of the Hotel there are two metro lines, a funicular and bus stops … recommended it without any doubt.

My name is Dr/Sherif Gobran, a surgeon in my home country Egypt I have arrived today and I was shocked from the unprofessional way of welcoming the hotel' guest. The receptionist talked to us in a rude way and a very high voice. The problem was that he gave us an interior room while others from our group took exterior rooms keeping in mind that we pay the same amount of money which is extremely unfair. I'm a tourist and I came to Barcelona to have a good scene of spanish life not to watch some old chairs and tables in an interior garden …

I was because I went to a concert. The food is very good, the employees are very friendly and the rooms beautiful with a good cleaning service. Totally recommended.

I stayed at th Tryp Apolo in Barcelona for business and my room was entered and I had £2500.00 orth of computer equipment stolen. I complained at the reception desk and asked them for help and they didn't help or seem to care. They checked on their computer and my room was entered at 10.37am by the maid so it was obviously an inside job. I had to go to the police station in Barcelona and sort everything out my self in a foreign country, wait of an interpreter and make statements in a very intimidating place. The hotel still didn't want to help me out with this matter and now since being back in the UK I have tried endlessly to get in touch with their insurance company with no luck so I will now have to get a Solicitor involved and go down the court route. Never stay in this hotel.

Perfect situated, closed to "down-town", very friendly staff, excellent breakfast, what more could You wish! . Even if I forgot a pair of shoes in room (318) on the 15th of Januari 2015. — :) before we borded the ship Norweigan Spirit for eleven days cruise to Casablamca, Funchal, Santa Cruz, Lanzarote, Malaga and back to wonderful Barcelona. Very large room, no nice view in the backyard and it could be somewhat clean. Double room does not mean equal to double bed. But a huge selection at the breakfast buffet. Very good price-performance ratio and thankfully well located and easy access from the airport with aero bus and Metro. For a city trip a good hotel.

I've been at this hotel a few times and the truth is that it is one of those who usually choose when I go to Barcelona and I want to be my breath. The problem is that they don't always have offers that call me attention, but whenever you reach my mail any mail with an offer or interesting discount of the Melia group, I take this opportunity to make a getaway.

Very nice hotel with very friendly staff. Hallways do look a little bit like 'The Shining' but the décor in the rooms is plain and clean. The room keys caused a minor annoyance — they tend to stop working regularly. However, getting new keys from reception wasn't a problem. Very good location for those seeking a hotel near La Ramblas, only a few streets away and right next to a metro station and bus stop. The 64 bus is handy to get to the Barcelonetta beach as walking takes 20-30 mins.

Hotel normal, very good location, if you're going to spend a weekend in Barcelona this hotel is fine, since you have a correct rooms, the breakfast service is very good and staff is friendly. It has a rate in relationship quality price very good. One of its advantages is leaving the hotel you have several places where to eat and very close to boca de metro. The truth is that the typical hotel is is very good if what you want is just to sleep since you are going with the intention of pateare city.

From Canada, one week stay, May '14. Great location, walk to Ramblas or marina in 10-15 min. Asked and got room we liked, friendly, helpful staff. Clean, large, comfortable room, great breakfast buffet included. Metro station steps from the door. Great value for money spent. Comfortable, homey hotel. Wi-Fi included but slow, esp evenings. Would stay here again. Buy book of bus/metro tickets at airport, take bus 46 to Plaza Espana, take Metro to Paral-lel, hotel is right where you come out.

Very well. It is a very central hotel is in the parallel and very well equipped.

We used this hotel for a weekend in Barcelona, it had a metro station right outside and can reach most of the city and sights from here. The Ramblers is only a 5 minute walk or one stop on the metro, the metro is probably the easiest way to get around, get a couple day pass and no worries. If you check in at 2 pm on change over, be prepared to wait awhile. We arrived in the morning, they held our bags and we went for lunch and a look around, when we got back to the hotel around 5 were were able to check straight in. Get a room with breakfast included is possible as it's 11 euros if you just turn up. Breakfast is a good buffet, plenty of choice and great value, ideal for setting you up on a long day exploring the city. Some parts of the hotel were showing some age but all in all a great hotel in a good location. Room Tip: Rear facing rooms don't have a great view! But were quit away from road noise.

1 week in October 2012 at this hotel. Very happy, clean, good breakfast buffet, friendly staff. Location Central, the area on the way to the old town is a little strange, was but not a problem.
The room with the exercise may be just one of the corner rooms above preview with 2 Windows, there might be then their 3, the other 200 then but significantly tighter and smaller and have a window that is locked.
The rooms facing the street are so the best a room facing the courtyard all loud, if you open the window, book!

I was not impressed at all — Hotel was pretty old and not really clean. The location is really central, tht is good. = Together: OK but not more (for me).

It has a disco under whose hundreds of customers can't sleep at night. Avoid it if you can.
It has a nightclub downstairs so you can't sleep in the nights. Please dont book it.
