Nice hotel and friendly staff here. Room is very nice decorated and very clean. From 14:00 the rooftop bar is open for the people of this hotel. I also stayed at Axel. Which is better than this hotel. But here you can really relax. Gym is nice. Definately worth for going again.

His design / low usability. "open' bathroom design means that you better be very comfortable with toilet noises and odors — since the bed is only 8 feet from the glass-door toilet that has spaces on all sides and an open hole for a doorknob to let any unpleasantries seep into the sleeping area. Light switches are not labeled, so you'll wake up your mate every night when you guess wrong. No light switch in toilet — so good luck at night! Good point is gay nature of hotel and staff is pleasant — but they clearly put design over guest comfort — enjoy the photos of this property but you may want to think twice about your comfort with the other guest's toilet habits — you'll be very familiar after your stay!

Lovely hotel with modern rooms and great location. Very clean and quiet. One star dropped as the beds had no blankets, only sheets. We requested blankets from the reception but nothing came for our 4 nights there.

This hotel treated me very well. I feel very welcome and everyone is friendly and accommodating. If there's anything you need they go out of their way to get it. I love that the GM talks with each guest at breakfast occasionally. Staff are very friendly and service is great. Love my room!

Positives: the staff were excellent, the rooms were clean and big, the Wi-Fi was great, the internal sound proofing was great, the amenities of the hotel and the room were also great. Negatives: External soundproofing was little to none and could hear every car that I rent passed as well as some well timed road works out entire stay. The corridors smelled very strongly of a bad odour. The pool and pool areas were small and cramped.

The only positives here are that the staff on the front desk are very helpful and pleasant. It's in a nice location close to a tube stop and surrounded by lots of nice places to eat. Room was OK but please be aware the shower cubicle and toilet area are behind frosted glass which means that you can pretty much see everything. Shower was nice but blocked so had to shower quickly before the room flooded. Don't plan on sleeping in because the cleaners slam all of the doors and your entire room will shake. Our room door was left unlocked and open twice, anyone could have walked in. Thankfully nothing was taken. Had to go and ask for tea and toilet rolls as the cleaners had not left any. Won't be going back in a hurry.

Overall, this is a cool and contemporary LGBTQ-oriented hotel with a cool rooftop pool! Very helpful and friendly reception staff. Apart from the shower water draining slowly and the room door hinges continuing to make LOUD sounds even after the maintenance supposedly oiled the door hinges on 16. Feb, evening, I highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent location and fantastic staff. Single room was very clean and comfortable. The single bed was too small for me though and I didn't like that the room looked out on to internal "courtyard". This meant other rooms overlooked mine and I had to keep the curtains closed for privacy. I would probably pay for a larger room with an external view next time. Did not detract from my stay though.

Very good hotel in the immediate vicinity of a metro station of Line 1. Our room was really good, we were upgraded for free for a larger room than the one booked! The rooftop pool is heated, it's super nice to do a little while at the pool after a day of sightseeing in Barcelona. We also took the breakfasts, there was quite a choice, the products were good, a bit disappointed with the bacon and scrambled eggs, but super good overall.

Maybe we would have preferred some more shade on the roof to be able to drink comfortably by the bar.

Well-located Hotel in the city of Barcelona, with modern, spacious and clean rooms and good facilities. The staff is nice and helpful. I will choose it again on my next visit to Barcelona.

Very clean and the room was a good size. Near Metro, this place is a few meters from the square of Spain and Montjuic.

Great modern rooms, clean and well equipped. Location is a good 10 minute walk to the Ramblas, restaurants and bars just around the corner. Nice, very friendly service.

This hotel is well located in the city center, just a stone's throw away from Rocafort metro station. The rooms are spacious, quiet and beautifully designed, with all the amenities you may need. Room cleaning deserves a honorable mention—everything was well sanitized and polished to a shine. These guys know their audience well and it shows. The receptionists were all honestly kind and very helpful. Had a perfect stay, got not a single word of criticism to say!

Had a great stay here. First thing to note is that this is a hotel primarily aimed at the gay market, however we did notice a few non-gay couples there and they seemed to get just as warm a welcome. I found the room very stylish and clean, location excellent and it had all the amenities you would expect from a good 4* hotel. I particularly liked the bathroom which was incorporated into the room and a real feature was made of it. The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly/helpful and seemed to take pride in giving you a warm welcome. If I could make any criticism of the hotel it would be the comfort of the mattress which could have been better (however I have an amazing Casper mattress at home so my standards are quite high). All in all it is a really good hotel that not only provides the basics you would expect from its class, but goes above and beyond in providing a fun, friendly atmosphere and style. Not only a wonderful place for gay people to stay, but I think liberal minded hetrosexuals will really enjoy the experience as well.

Good hotel. The collaborating reception. The only thing that happened in the room I stayed that was bad the shower drain, all of this from one moment to another.

It was my first time in Barcelona and didn't know much about the city or the language and everyone in the hotel was super helpful and welcoming. Our room was small but clean and comfortable. Also, the pool and rooftop was a great addition, just wish it was warmer when I was there to enjoy it more. Definitely will be coming back!

We spent 2 weeks at Axel and found Alexandra and Daniel to be so very helpful and gracious. Every day and night they greeted us chatting about our day or plans and were always willing to assist, from arranging a car rental to helping us find the flea market. The location was perfect with the metro at the top of the street and many great restaurants close by. I loved the added touch of having a bath robe and slippers in the room. We often brought coffee to our room in the morning as we planned our day. I would highly recommend this hotel for the staff, location and pool on the roof was fun too!

While I've known of the Axel Hotels for quite some time, I had yet to stay in one. Given the competitive pricing during my trip, I jumped at the opportunity to book here. Check in was seamless and very friendly. The rooms were minimal, functional and absolutely perfect for me. I specifically loved the marketing of a "Hetero Friendly Hotel! " Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

This hotel is in a great location. It's in a beautiful neighborhood with lots of places to eat and enjoy. You can easily take public transit or taxi to get to the tourist spots. The breakfast was very good. Joel who worked the breakfast each morning was very friendly. The only complaint I have about the hotel is the bathroom is not really separate from the room. It's very nice, it's just not in my style. I felt very safe at the hotel. They have 24-hour reception and you need a room key to use the elevator. Overall, a positive experience. Also, the hotel staff speak excellent English.

Excellent, New modern hotel. We loved the rooms which have amazing showers. Note they are all glass as well as the bathroom half wall to the bedroom but it's very fun. Rooftop deck and pool is amazing. Very good large breakfast that includes espresso or lattes. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Only negative is the air conditioning is weak in the rooms. You need to leave a key in the wall slot to keep on all the time or it will not cool off.

For the gay traveler TWO Axel offers a welcoming experience in a modern sleek state of the art building. If you are straight don't worry, you will feel just at home because the staff is extremely friendly, multilingual and very attentive. My only complaint would be that my "upgraded" room faced a park and provided very little privacy if I wanted to open the blinds. Best time I would request a street view or higher level.

Hotel staff were all very welcoming, friendly, professional and accommodating. The hotel has a chill, laid back vibe with no uptight or pretentious feel. Rooms were clean, bathroom and shower were great. There is lots to do within a short walking distance and is accessible to the buses and trains. Safe, clean, fun and friendly. I will certainly stay here again when I'm in Barcelona.

Fantastic stay. Staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful and the room was really great. Spotless and beautifully presented. The rooftop pool was great and the location was excellent. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Friendly staff and very quiet hotel. Perfect for a weekend. Great minibar and various bathroom accessories. I wish the toilet would have been closed better for privacy and I missed a closet and somewhere to put the luggage. Easy walk to the city centre and cheap to return in a taxi. The pool could have been cleaner one of the days we tried it and the steam room wasn't as hot as it should have been. Perfect temperature in the pool though! Nice to have pool access 24/7. We would definitely return to this hotel. We liked the neighborhood and the tranquility of the place.

We had to ask three times for or room to be cleaned. This was the only annoying thing. But the room was fresh once this was done. Fresh towels at our own service would be great on the roof top. More variation in music. Also some healthy, high quality bread would have been great at the breakfast buffet. But this our new Barcelona favourite hotel!

We come to Barcelona every year from Sydney and this was our first time at Axel. We had a great time in your hotel, the location is perfect and the facilities are very good. Friendly staff and very nice atmosphere. I am looking forward to try the new Axel hotel in Madrid in a few months time and hopefully we'll be back in Barcelona next year.

Rooms were quiet and very clean, comfy beds with lovely sheets. Large and small quality towels and usual toiletries provided. An unusual addition was a great hairdryer, you so often get a basic one with no nozzles. The rooftop pool was heated with an integral jacuzzi. We didn't use the gym but it had all the basics for a useful workout. Staff were helpful, polite and welcoming and spoke good English. We would certainly recommend the hotel. The welcoming tag line may be a little intimidating and unnecessary… 'heterosexual friendly'

Our stay at the hotel was better than expected. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless everyday! The location is great. This will definitely be my hotel of choice in the future when I visit Barcelona.

We really enjoyed our stay there. The bed was comfy. The shower and bathroom were kept clean. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous at all times. I would definitely stay here again. There were only minor drawbacks. There really isn't enough drawer space. Rubbish pails weren't where I needed them and the upstairs bar was closed for the season. These are so minor I only mention them so the hotel doesn't get a "swelled head. "

Outstanding service, very friendly staff. High standard of cleanliness. Wide breakfast buffet selection. Ideal central location: right next to metro station, plus within walking distance of central attractions. Off the main road, so no major traffic noise either. Downsides: wireless internet service is slow. The breakfast scrambled eggs are mixed with milk and butter, so not suitable for lactose-intolerant people.

Hotel is situated in a very central and walkable area which is a great plus. The staff is very courteous and friendly. The bar on the roof is convenient and can be fun at times but does get smoky during the winter months when it's inside a tent, although there is an outdoor area for those who appreciate clean breathing air. The room was rather outdated, especially noticeable in the bathroom where some tiles in the shower were broken and where there were some small water bugs visible at night where water had accumulated between the shower and the floor. Overall a good stay and experience but one major annoyance was that upon check in, after handing over my credit card, my card was automatically charged in my "home currency" without the staff giving me the option to choose Euros, this accounted for an additional 2% upcharge for the currency conversion that I did not request and could do nothing about since the charge had already been placed on the card at the time I was asked to sign for it, even though I brought this issue up to the staff member at the time I was simply told "this is how they do things. " So take the rates you see online with a grain of salt — — if you end up showing up at the hotel and paying with a foreign credit card you'll actually end up paying slightly more.

My friend and I have only just before our holidays noticed that the Axel hotel is a rather unusual hotel. However, we were very well received and treated nicely. The location is ideal and the room is also okay, the bathroom could be improved. Otherwise a super hotel. Also the breakfast was fine.

This hotel is in a very good location, closed to supermarkets, restaurants, and metro station L3 (red line) — Rocafort. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and professional. The room was very clean and modern. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I love this place and will absolutely stay here again! I highly recommended.

I really enjoyed staying at the hotel. The location was central and within walking distance of several sites. The hotel staff were professional and helpful. I was impressed with the room and the spectacular view that it had. The bar service, spa and gym were also well serviced and very clean. I was also a fan of the breakfast which was delicious and delightful!

Overall, I was satisfied. Atmosphere was good, employees all very friendly and helpful. I found that the hotel is equal 1 to 1 to a "Motel One", but is more expensive. Would be a "Motel One" in Barcelona (59, — to 79, — € per night), I probably stay there. In my room was always a lot of dust every morning. I believe it comes from under the bed? Maybe there accumulated a lot of dust? The shower drain did not work well, water very, very slowly expired. But it was repaird the last day — thank you.

Really nicely designed. Clean rooms and fun decor. Staff was exceptional. Very friendly. Breakfast was also really good basic breakfast. Metro is down the block as well as airport bus. Great location. You will have to ask for extra shower gel as they don't refill them. (Odd). At checkout there were €30 in extra charges that were not ours so please review your bill. The desk person apologized and quickly removed them. We also went to the parent hotel roof bar (this hotel does not have a roof bar). It was kind of sad. Soft depressing music and not a fun crowd at all. We choose to have one drink and leave. All in all nice hotel for the cost and really great staff.

Firstly the hotel cancelled our reservations at 1am on the day of arrival because they dont know how to process a pre-authorised credit card transaction (our bank treated it as a duplicate and denied them re-charging it). Accorinding to one receptionist it happens to quite a few rooms every day. If this was an issue I would try to solve it, not go telling all these guests that their credit card has declined… what A**holes… Secondly the pool was closed for 1 1/2 days of the 3 days stay with no explanation. The housekeeping staff are SLOW (one of our 2 rooms did not get finished cleaning on TWO consecutive days, even though we were out from 9am til 5pm). The front desk staff are pretty, but you always feel like its your privilege to be staying there (and that they are not there to serve you). The rooms are actually fabulous, and the hotel decor amazing, the breakfast buffet really good, and the location near the Metro and 15 mins to the nightlife is great — but I hope its just because they at they are new and dont have their act together yet that I have to give it such a poor rating. Because it has the possibility to be such a great hotel… and I really had hoped I could give it 5 stars as I wanted to love it so much.
