SO glad we picked this hotel! We had arrived in Santander on the ferry during the evening, so wanted to get to a sleepover quickly. Somahoz was 30 minutes drive from Santander. It was easy to slip of the autovia and arrive without problems at the door of the hotel. It was on the very outskirts of Somahoz and the area was peaceful, clean and there was free parking to be had, and found easily, just a few yards from the hotel. The proprietor was gracious and advised eating at the restaurant across the road. The restaurant had a bar so we had a drink there before we freshened up for the evening. We ate there later and enjoyed good food. The only downside, if you could call it that, was that we were the only diners, along with another British couple. We enjoyed though. BREAKFAST… was completely different to the usual Spanish hotel breakfast. Yes, we had all the fruit, fruit juice, bread rolls, toast, Iberico ham, cheese, cereal, jams etc etc, all served by the proprietor, humming happily and hovering expertly with bacon and scrambled eggs, hot milk and lovely coffee. PLEASE try this hotel, if you enjoy something a little more personal than the usual. The hotel is an ancient building that gas been transformed. All the mod ones you want in your room, but cleverly included in an interesting building. The view from our room was of the lawned garden, and beyond that, forested hills. We can't wait for an excuse to go back!

What a fantastic hotel run by utterly charming hosts. This is a small gem, beautifully and sympathetically converted combining old stone and ultra modern chic. We received such a warm and delightful welcome and throughout our stay met all of the family who run it. We stayed in an huge room right on the front. Although this overlooks the road we slept well with the window open, as another guest says you could hear a pin drop in the village. We dined opposite in Flemings restaurant and were very well looked after with a nice meal. Breakfast in La Casona was a treat with fresh fruit, scrambled eggs from their free range hens, toast, fresh orange juice, ham and delightful cake. What host wipes the overnight rain from your motorbike and then draws a map of the best roads to have fun with and to see the views?! Truly amazing hospitality. We loved our stay there.

We spent a few days from the 5th to the 10th of August in The House of Somahoz, and we are already looking forward to coming back, The House placed to rest with all luxury of details, and the owners Marian and Pepi, thanks for addressing us with so much pleasure, and to prepare routes that even we did not know and were a wonder, and for offering us these breakfasts spectacular and enjoyable by the humming of Mariano, always lively and a good conversationalist, has been a real pleasure to be there and to have known. Kisses from Barcelona, Javier and Maria Isabel. We recommend it and will return.

I've never been treated better. Homemade breakfasts until you can't anymore. Afternoons of talks with Mariano in the garden organizing the next day's excursion. And his insurmountable plans he draws to explain the route to follow. At all times you have the feeling of being at the house of friends. Thank you for your hospitality.

Upon our arrival the proprietors were so incredibly friendly and accommodating. The hotel is a combination of old world stone with super clean, modernness to it. The bathrooms were completely new and spacious. The whole place had beautiful wood floors and rooms were very nice and comfortable. Breakfast was included and it could not be better. No complaints. Super happy we stayed there.

By being involved, — as the decorate-it is hard to be objective, but despite this, I think not wrong if I say that it is gorgeous highly recommended, where neither the space, nor the environment, nor its owners, you will be disappointed.

To overcome this place is not easy. Spectacular!

An architectural marvel, a fabulous hotel and an exquisite treatment. You can't ask for more.
