We were looking for a couple of nights lay over in Cape Town between safari and Franschhoek and I am pleased we chose the Bakovenbay luxury suites close to Camps Bay. Warmly greeted by Wolfgang, our host, you are whisked up a lift to the second floor to a large open plan communal area shared by the 3 rooms which has plentiful sofas and tables for breakfast, as well as a terrace running along two sides which looks out towards and sea and Table Mountain. A lovely way to start the day with breakfast or conclude a day of sightseeing with the sunset. The décor is distinct from some of the ultra modern premises in other parts of Camps Bay, it feels more unique and plays to comfort, vintage and antique. For those with a car, the premises offers ample garage parking.
We had a mountain view room which had a terrace and looked towards Lions Head and Table Mountain, the room was sizeable and it had a roomy bathroom with shower and bath, all again with a vintage / antique feel. The air conditioning was effective and with an app that Wolfgang suggested we were able to keep an eye on the city load-shedding periods when you lose the sockets but the lighting remains.
Breakfast was fruit salad and yoghurts, plentiful meats and cheese as well as fresh bread, pastries and croissants. It really is lovely to eat breakfast looking at both the sea and mountains and preparing for the exciting day ahead.
