I had a wonderfull treatment at the spa on Wednesday 29 Sept. After my treatment I wanted to have lunch at the River Cafè, it was 11:40 but was told that they only serve lunch from 12:00. They didn’t offer a drink whilst waiting for 12:00 and said I should rather go to the Padstal to have something to eat. At the Padstal they said they only serve Ciabatta bread with different toppings. I said it is fine, I will have that only to be told then that they didn’t bake bread that day and couldn’t offer anything. I was dissapointed but opted then for the Macadamia ice cream. After a struggle of about 20minutes to get the machine working, I was told that the ice cream would only be ready at 17:00! So, I left at 12:30 without having anything to eat, I spend an hour being patient and understanding but this is not how the service at Summerfields used to be. I was greatly dissapointed.
I will, however, return to the spa, always a great experience.

River Cafe is a stunning location right next to the Sabi River. Had a really nice fish and chips for lunch and a tasty couscous salad. Top when in Hazyview 🥰

Summerfields is one of the best places I have been too. Tranquility and 5 star service at its best. Lawrence makes you feel like family, Blessed and Francis served us our meal that were made by a 5 star chef. Food is incredible, the spa is amazing and the everyone is friendly and kind. They are always to ready to help or tend to any need. Nothing is too much for them.

I recommend summerfields for breakfast and the spa. The macadamian nut ice cream at the farm stall is pure deliciousness in a cup! They have lovely gin too and the breakfasts have a flare to them. Please reopen the restaurant!

We had the best time at Summerfields Rose Retreat. We were very disappointed that we could not go on a international honeymoon like planned, but Summerfields created such a special and romantic atmosphere. Their attention to detail is outstanding! The Spa was SUCH a treat, we have been to Spa's around the world but Rebecca and Caroline was the best therapists we ever had. They created a bath with rose petals and candles without us asking. GREAT and tasty food and very friendly staff. Will really recommend this hotel to anybody. We will definitely be returning soon.

Different, clean, friendly staff, relaxing, spa treatments are the best, gin tasting was awesome, one of the best gins I’ve tasted — overall experience was 10/10 under the COVID-19 challenges. Highly recommend it♥️

Firstly the nature will take your breath away!
I love nature, trees and rivers etc, so I was sold just driving in. Its quiet, peaceful and relaxing ☺️ The staff is very friendly and trustworthy, we left my husband's watch and they called us and it was posted to us in Gauteng! The scenery is amazing at the river side and by the pool. I'm definitely coming back!

Service is Tearfully Slow. Bunch of Snobbish people with a bunch of Snobby spoilt kids.
Fruit Juice served with breakfast is not chilled at all, tastes and looks like "Watered down Purity" As for the Breakfast, I'm sure that they wait for the chickens to lay the eggs, before the eventually get cooked and brought to your table by a waiter that talks to you with a Sandton accent, as if he has been sucking on a lemon all night. After waiting 30min with still no breakfast, they suddenly discover that they have no Avo. So the long wait continues. Breakfast arrives, also no tomatoes…
Toast is as hard as a plank, no condiments offered. Waiter is to busy talking to his buddies to attend to us.

Didn’t stay in room — meandered through forest to get to the amazing tented dining area overlooking the Sabie river — bird life, quiet and 5 Star food were top notch — our second time there, /still want to try the retreat and massages.

A beautiful setting in an amazing part of the country. The tented accomodation comes with top finishes set amongst trees alongside the Sabie River for a tranquility and total relaxarion. The staff and management are super friendly and always on point. Definetly gets my vote.

Nice place, but very unfriendly staff. When we checked in we asked for a macadamia tour-they never came back on availability and price. I booked a massage at 5pm but only after my 2nd request it started at 5:30pm so it good cold etc etc Tents are brilliant, luxury I would say. Shower and bath outside, relax sofa, inbetween forests incl nature sounds of the river, birds and others. Breakfast very nice at the river. For the very overprized dinner you need your car… therefor no wine/beer etc. They have no shuttle service for dinner. And I saw that the staff need to walk everyday to the gate. A shuttle would be perfect for all, guests and staff. Little shop was not promoted, nearly missed it. Ask for opening hours.

We had an incredible lunch at the River Cafe which overlooks the Sabie River. Stunning setting combined with delicious food made for a very special celebration of a 32nd birthday. In the end we had supper at the Main Restaurant next to the Hazyview — Sabie road and again… excellent service and delicious food. A truly memorable visit!

Lovely grounds as you approach Summerfield. WHAT a disappointment shabby unkempt grounds for the guests. Tired boy scout accomodation. No one speaks to you. Other than reception. No one greets you when go into breakfast or lunch. No one is in charge. NOT made welcome by staff. Except one lovely girl at reception. Go to the bar no one says Hello or Good afternoon. So happy to have got out after three long tense days. Three stars at most feel angry.

The place looks amazing but the food does not meet the expectations of its perceived luxury status. Im sure with time this should changed. Will be back in a couples of years.

Very romantic and beautiful situation. The spa was great and breakfast and dinner food was good. However, management was poor and service consequently was very poor and lacked professionalism. A lot more attention to detail is necessary and more staff training required.

Completely disappointed. I contacted the restaurant about two months ago to find out if they would be open on 1 January, because a lot of restaurants aren’t. And I was assured that they would be open — so I made a booking. This was extra special because it was my partners birthday dinner. On the morning of the dinner I receive an sms to confirm the dinner and an email reminder with options to change the reservation or the cancel. Three hours before dinner my reservation is cancelled and I receive a phone call where I’m told that it is cancelled. With no reason at all! I was also told in the email that they requested a deposit from me, but that was not true. Why would you request a deposit, and then tell me that the restaurant is not opening? Very disappointed with this establishment, you’re supposed to be the best in the area.

We attended the Summerfields Christmas market. The market was disappointing, goods on offer pricey. Limited choice of food. The ambience was refreshing. Would do the Christmas market again, for the ambience and entertainment. More choices are needed… less pricey, home-made articles and more food options. No Chinese goods.

Amazing romantic, peaceful and tranquil environment. Perfect for couples. Food is absolutly divine. Farm is amazing. Enjoyed every minute of it.

I requested a price on the massages. It was promised to be emailed to me but to no avail. It's sad that customer service is going down the drain in this country.

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful spa for 1 night during our honeymoon. It was the most amazing, quiet, and peaceful place I have ever been. Sean, the manager, was literally right there whenever you had a question or needed anything. He was able to squeeze me into a spa treatment which was also the best massage I have ever had. There is a lovely restaurant on the premises where we enjoyed a delicious dinner with an extremely attentive waitstaff. My only regret is we didn't get to stay longer.

Lovely restaurant with a beautiful view and arsty vibe due to cool and chic artwork. Fresh vegetables from the gardens that can be seen from the deck really make a huge, fresh difference in the meals. Presentation is top class! The dessert I had was really interesting.

Summerfields Rose Retreat went out of their way to make our stay special. We chose the retreat for our wedding night stay over because it just bursts out ROMANTIC. The scenery is gorgeous, surrounded by lush greenery and the Sabie river flowing past your room. The food was prepared superbly! We came back rather late from our wedding festivities, as we arrived to our room it was lit up. The bath was overflowing with bubbles, petals and candles. It was such a treat after I danced my feet of the whole night. Thank you Summerfields Rose Retreat for making that day extra special.

We were at Summerfields for three nights and couldn't have wished for a more wonderful experience. The accommodation on the banks of the river, the massage, the food. All spectacular.
The Parkrun on Saturday had 84 participants and the restaurant staff handled the breakfast well.
Within 30 minutes of the Kruger Park the location is ideal.

Five of us had lunch. We choose four of the tapas selections and a bottle of wine. The food got rave reviews. The ambiance on the patio overlooking the Sabie River was delightful. The price was reasonable.

I can't express how amazed we are from this place! I haven't been to a better hotel which combines piecefullness, unique vibe and great service and food! The rooms are unique as you feel you are resting in a tree in the midde of the forest hearing thr floawing water of the river. We were welcomed so warm for our honeymoon (photos below) and the staff made us feel as it was our wedding this day with the dinner table decorsted eith rose leaves two nights in a row. The spa is another unique experience, totally worth having a long massage right next to the river (we had two for two days) hank you Summerfields Rose retreat, we are coming back! A lovely setting and surroundings spoilt by greed and lack of ambiance at an important event We had the set menu over New Years eve which was quite pricey but not out of the ordinary. The manager of the restaurant was running around like a headless chicken the whoe evening without really connecting with any of the guests. In fact the beautiful ambiance of the surroundings was not complimented with a tranquil atmosphere inside? When the bill came they charged us R35 for water that was clearly from a tap and tasted foul. Really? Paying for tap water at a R400 a head (excl beverages) dinner is ridiculous. The food was excellent though and the waiter great and a very very friendly security guy at the gate. Previous day we had tea overlooking the Sabie River at the spa and that was gorgeous as could be expected. So a mixed bag from a beautiful venue.

Amazing place with amazing waitors and waitresses! The diner here is divine as well as breakfast. You should definitely enjoy a spa over there or stay a night in the beautiful and luxurous tents! Prefect place for coupes.
