I got to spend 2 nights at one of my fav hotels yet again. As always, everything is on point! The staff are so friendly and super efficient. Requests (even the special ones) are taken care of timeously and effectively. Exactly the reason I will always return to this gem of a place xx.

The view Hotel truly lives up to it's name with stunning ocean views. The rooms are modern and neatly appointed. The staff are courteous and friendly. We recently stayed at this property for a bit more than a week. To be honest there are a few niggles. The food and beverage offering is a miss. It's bland pretentious completely overpriced and lacks variety. The menu mainly consists of pizza and cream-based pasta. We only received a room service menu on our 4th day as we were told to order off the a la carte menu. There's not much to see there either. The pizzas are the best thing to go for but be prepared to fork out. The wine list is fairly generic. Be prepared to be charged R30 for your ice! Bezaar I know right?! The spa is dated and looks a little tacky, to be frank, however, the treatments and the staff are really good. On NYE our noisy neighbours carried on partying and slamming doors till 04:30 despite our calls to the front desk. We asked numerous times to speak with the Duty Manager or the owner but they are yet to make themselves available. A 10% gratuity is automatically added to all services on this property, when we chatted to numerous staff they told us that they do not receive the tips they are kept by management. So my recommendation is that should you wish to tip staff do so in cash. It seems however you will still pay 10% service charge. My recommendation is do some research. Your money could be spent far better elsewhere. This property is by no means 5 stars!

The worst Pedicure experience ever. The therapist do not know how a simple treatment is carried out. The Manageress most unhelpful. What was promised was not followed through.

The place is spectacular. We cannot argue with the layout and luxury. We enjoyed our stay there mostly. However, there were problems and we believe that they can be a whole lot more professional in the manner in which they deal with guests. The Agoda booking engine does not provide the layout and images of the actual room you're booking, just a sample image which is misleading. They did change us to another room which was considered an upgrade. It was an excellent room, but they had a power failure before we arrived and neglected to do an infrastructure inspection. The geyser connected to the room tripped and we had no hot water. We reported it when it was evident, but then it was not fixed as promised when we realised there was still no hot water. At this point, they changed our room. What irritated me was the fact that one of managers told my wife that it was our responsibility to have reported the matter sooner. The rest of the stay was without worry, until we got home and we were charged for a no-show (100% cancellation fee). We raised this, and they refunded us a little while later, only to take the same value off again. This was eventually resolved, but it is not something we want to happen when we have paid a luxury price for a luxury stay.

Lovely view and glamorous rooms. Fantastic service. Limited menu for long term stay. A lovely winding road to the top a hill before you reach the lodge, which adds to the adventure.

Elegant exquisite gorgeous beautiful rooms, with fully loaded mini bar fridge (@ extra costs) and beautiful sea/swimming pool viewing balcony.

Attitude of staff is good but there's no free Wi-Fi in the rooms after paying over 1000 rand per night. Also not impressed with the idea of being made to imprint your credit card details before check in. This was not discussed during booking online. One fears for the safety of their credit card.

Great hotel with lovely views. However, some attention to detail in the hotel rooms will be appreciated to ensure that they maintain their five-star status (e. G. Leaking shower door; cleaners not consistently cleaning the rooms during your stay — some days clean, some days not as clean)

You know when a friend tells you of a place being beautiful and you like asking yourself what is the big fuss then you get to experience it yourself. What am trying to say I have never seen such a beautiful place and with everything that you might need and want without having to ask for it. The staff is so professional and friendly especially the FOP, they were the best. Thank you so much this is going to be my second home.

Lovely place. Great spa, excellent food you just cannot go wrong.

I can only rate the restaurant and spa, but both offered some of the worst service possible. Spa includes dirty towels and lukewarm water with wilted fruit. Staff sighing at requests and lack of advertised products — even when confirmed telephonically. Don't get me started on the eats.

Worst treatment at a spa ever! Would give neg stars if possible. The only thing more wilted than the strawberries and mint in the water is the manager literally draging her feet to fetch me glass to drink it out of. The face towels very dirty / stained. The music was too loud, to aroma therapy oil was too hot and don't have any aroma. The nail lacquer was out of stock we were crammed into a couples room, need I say more? We should have learnt from the terrible experience at the restaurant, but regrettably we gave the View another shot.

The place looks great the moment you set your foot on the property. Cleanliness is unquestionable. The staff is very friendly and attentive, was amazed by Chris nd his calmness, also assisted us greatly.

All I can say is "iyoooooooooo" onion rings, massage, damn, everything was lit. Haaaaaaaah.

The place is ok. It is not what you see on the internet. The food is very expensive and very small. I was very disappointed with the meals. Breakfast was fine.

We popped in to Giorgio's at the View for a quick lunch and wow, what a pleasant experience. I had the vegetarian pizza with caramelized onions and gorgonzola cheese, its the best pizza I've ever eaten. Thin based and toppings bursting with flavour. You can expect us when we're in Durban again. Stunning venue as well.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are comfortable. However, one gets the impression that they scrape the five star rating on technicalities. For instance, there's Internet access — but it's paid for, and the Wi-Fi signal in rooms is terrible. Coupled with poor cellular signal makes this a difficult location for the business traveler.

Beautiful hotel but for a 5 star they need to change their beds and clean their public areas especially reception area.

A wonderful place with days memorably spent. The staff, the beddings, food and the general ambiance were all fantastic. Price was value for money.

By no means even near it's advertised 5 stars. Average at best. Disappointing that both SA tourism and Portfolio collection oversees establishments that have clearly not kept up with their original rating. Pictures on websites are not a true reflection of this property.

Nice place however the aircon didnt work and the room and crockery were dirty.

We stayed at the hotel for my birthday and in my opinion, it was a nightmare. Here are some of the problems. — Five star superior room" — Bed size for one was a standard double bed and this is far from luxurious. — "Luxurious air-conditioned en-suite rooms " — The pillows were hard and reduced the comfort of sleep. — "Honeymoon suite with private spa-bath" — The Jacuzzi shell was fragmented. And keep in mind that this was the differentiating factor in your room prices, facilities and comfort. — "Honeymoon suite with private spa-bath" — We did not have enough hot water to fill the Jacuzzi. Water from the geyser was cold on Saturday night and Sunday morning, therefore we were unable to utilize the Jacuzzi and as mentioned above this was one of the factors that there is a price difference in your room types. We did complain abut the water to the night staff and were advised by her that there were a number of occupants in the building and may be due to them finishing the water we were left with cold water. This is not a valid excuse. — "Uncompromising standards of excellence" — The shower water over flows past the glass cubicle by seeping underneath the glass. — "Uncompromising standards of excellence" — The toilet after flushed leaks a considerable amount of water. — "Uncompromising standards of excellence" — There are no spare or additional blankets available in rooms.
