What a disappointing experience?! This place is absolutely run down — nothing works! Our curtains were falling off, the fridge wouldn’t close properly, the carpet smelled like it hadn’t been washed in eons…. And the cherry on top? By the 2nd night of our stay, the shower water would pool at our feet whilst showering — add to that makeup stains on the linen! Honestly, this was a horrendous experience! I’ve stayed at this hotel some years back & the standard has truly dropped! Had I done some research & read the recent reviews I wouldn’t have booked there even if they paid me! The only plus would be the spacious rooms. This hotel needs some serious renovations!

There's broken glass outside room 515, the curtain is falling off and it's ridiculous that you make it so difficult for guests to upgrade a room (and pay a reasonable rate) when the hotel is empty.

We spent the night in the executive suite and it was amazing, besides the air-conditioned not cooling down the place at all we had a good stay.

Service was perfect, I'm not complaining at all.

There were people in the rooms around us that were noisy until 4 in the morning, shouting slamming doors etc. The breakfast in the morning was not bad but did not have to variety we expected for the price, they didn’t have stock on a lot of things. Overall disappointment.

We went for lunch in their restaurant, mhhh their food was great I won’t lie…

Tastefully decorated. Breakfast was delicious & great variety. Staff friendly. Shutters didnt block all light at night. Rooms are in need of maintenance and deep clean.

We stayed in the penthouse suite and there wasn’t enough cutlery, as you can see those couches are in the lounge area and they are so dirty! Some staff were unfriendly.

A place you can come with yourself partner or family and enjoy. Have nice meals and great views. I wish I can spend my weekends here for the whole year.

Very disorganized hotel, unpolished reception staff, no help with luggage, cold water in hotel after 4 calls we were finally moved.

What a place! Beautiful suites, delicious food and conveniently located by Gateway Shopping Mall. Best of all … quiet rooms for a peaceful nights rest.

Very underrated Hotel. The rooms on the top floor are very nice, value strong and fantastic space. Location is without doubt a major plus. Facilities, gym and breakfast are all enjoyable and the staff are helpful with smiles galore. Would recommend to business and leisure patrons. NB: safe underground parking a bonus as well as the direct access lifts — to your floor.

My friends booked a penthouse there it was perfect, it had 3bedrooms and we all had fun without being interrupted, and I've been there with my man quite a few times when he's around Durban it's nice for every occasions.

Very good experience, quick, helpful and polite at check in, the room was really good for the price paid, large and spacious with king-size bed, mini kitchenette with fridge, microwave and sink. Bathroom very luxy with bath and seperate shower, had balcony with table and chairs which we didn't us as view was of the building opposite, so one small disappointment. Free parking as well, very satisfied and will definitely try and book again, we got it on special offer so price was very good for what we got.

Pleasant enough hotel but don’t expect an early night if your windows over look the mall, loud music and boy races in loud cars will keep you awake till the early hours. We stayed in a double floor apartment, beds very hard unfortunately but rooms very nice. Simple things like replacing water bottles and having enough cups for 4 adults would have been better. Breakfast was tasty but service slack.

Perfectly decent hotel with all the amenities that one may need. The staff are particularly friendly, the bar is well stocked and best of all the rooms are spacious and comfortably configured. A good place all round.

The Royal Palm Hotel is a beautiful hotel with apartment style spacious and comfortable rooms. The staff are very friendly and accommodating of their guests needs.

Superb location, great rooms and the staff are awesome above and beyond. I needed a new pillow in the middle of the night and despite housekeeping being closed, the reception desk found a new pillow and delivered it to my room. Great experience. I will definitely stay again.

Friendly and efficient staff. Painless check in and check out. Free parking. The stay was lovely, suite was clean and comfortable. You're surrounded by restuarants and the gateway mall so you are spoilt for dining choices. Would definitely recommend to others.

Work on the following: 1. Hotel and internet photos are not the same. 2. Bath tub could not be closed to fill with water and I had to get maintenance to fix it. 3. Room not looking as advertised. Very noisy Saturday nights. 4. Ate a soup starter at the restaurant. It promised croutons and crispy bacon bits inside, instead like the internet photos I got bread pieces and bacon strips that is just cooked.

Used to be the place where we would host our corporate guests few years ago. Went back last year in November and had a very unpleasant experience. The ENTIRE SAFE was STOLEN from my room with my valuables inside. Literally, like in a Hollywood movie! I would say security is non existent compared to other 4 Stars Hotels. It looks like anyone can walk in and get away with your stuff. B.

My favorite! Right opposite Gateway Mall — very convenient. Superb rooms with lounge area, fridge, sink, cutleries, big balcony. Very spacious esp. If travelling with kids. Good ans friendly service. Small but cozy and family friendly restaurant.

Executive suite is good, could even be used for self catering, food takes a while to prepare but is ok, conferance facility exelent.

The accomodation is clean and is taken care daily by room service and I admired the quality of food they are serving during breakfast and the service is in high standard very friendly staff.

Nice hotel especially for a family with kids. No Swimming pool, milk and sugar in the rooms they put enough for 2 people only even though we were in a family room. Did not replace soap bar with the cleaning. I must say their Guest service was responsive when you request extra supplies.

The hotel is very comfy at a very reasonal price and prime location. I only had one issue, that they didnt turn up to pick me at airport but they compensated me later.

I love staying at the Royal Palm. Perfectly located, 15 minutes from the airport and just minutes to the beach! The rooms are spacious, clean, and beautifully furnished. The staff is friendly and the parking ample. No complaints :) Also. They leave sweets on your pillow!

I loves my stay here. Did not have much time to take many photographs. This is by far the best hotel in Umhlanga Ridge. Rooms are spacious, meals are great, the mall is across the road. The staff are amazing and very helpful. Breakfast serves the best cappachino in Durban.

I enjoyed my stay very much so. Staff were friendly and polite as well as efficient. I loved the room that I stayed in. It had all I could require. It didn't bug me that I didn't have a beach view. I was after all, a short step to Gateway Theatre of Shopping.

Helpful staff (hotel and restaurant) and amazing beef burger. A bit dissapointed that rooftop pool area closes at 10pm.

The facilities are of good quality. I was disappointed with service received from staff and there is no parking, you have to use the Centre's parking which you must pay for because the Hotel, according to staff does not validate parking.

Hotel was good decent bed unfortunately facing the mall I was subjected to a function that kept me awake. The restaurant is what you expect from every hotel and the breakfast was mediocre at best. Above all I'm happy with my room and the services received was outstanding. Courtney in particular left me impressed.

Accessible from King Shaka airport, ideal for travellers having work meetings in Durban / KZN. Breakfasts are simple and quick… not for those seeking a gourmet experience. Rooms are comfortable, staff are helpful. Conferencing facilities are available.

The reception staff as well as the cleaning staff as well as housekeeping staff were very good. The rooms were good and clean. We only found out that there were no utensils to heat or eat from. Only as we were leaving we were told that we had to request from the reception. This was a first time we experience this services… but overall a very nice place to stay as the location was fantastic.
We were glad to have booked into the Royal Palm.

The rooms are beautiful, but service is bad, spent the NYE there, the restaurant is very small and on the day in question was chaotic.

Good hotel to stay. Large and clean rooms. Friendly staff. Good shopping mall just across the street. To make the stay ever more pleasant serious improvements are required in breakfast menu and it's quality. Also TV channels are limited and slow Internet connection can be annoying if on business trip.

Definitely the best Hotel I've stayed at in Umhlanga. I've tried many Hotel groups but Three Cities Hotels are always streets ahead of everyone else. Thanks for making my stay in Umhlanga the joy that it was.

I haven't been to the place but always hearing good things about it.
