Well situated and comfortable accommodation. Staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is the weakest aspect of this operation which is a pity as this is otherwise a good place to stay. Convenient to Clarens, the Golden Gates Highlands National Park and for day trips further afield.

Oh how I love this place. It is my home town but I never get enough of those beautiful mountain and the ginger grass even on summer. The Golden Gate it is always freezing due to the mountains and the cold weather of Qwaqwa.

My favourite place in Mzansi. Ms Khubekha (at the reception) went an extra mile to make our stay super comfortable. She is a great asset to this institution.

Great experience in the mountains. Just a lovely atmosphere. Breath taking views, fresh air and some fun activities.

Good rates and great rooms. But breakfast quality has deteriorated. Also some maintenance needed on the buildings. Waitron staff could use some training.

Its a very nice place to spend your holiday, the beautiful views of the mountains n theres lots of different areas around the hotel to go visit. It has really taken my heart. Only the cleaning staff that need to pull up their socks.

Very cosy self catering chalets with breathtaking views of the golden gate. We got engaged in the national park and spent our night here and we really enjoyed it. The gate has lights on it at night giving really nice scenery even in the dark. Clarens is only 10 minutes away and is a great town to explore with many little artsy shops and restaurants. The hotel is right next to the chalets and the restaurant is available to use if you don't feeling like making your own food. Some of the amenities at the hotel are not maintained like the tennis courts and are probably never used.

If youve ever been to the Freestate but never in Golden gate you havent seen the true heart of it. Breathtaking views and great service from the people at "brandwag" hotel. Love the area and love the people. Close to Clarens for some great local beer and crafts. They've also revamped the hotel and it looks stunning.

Breathtaking views and a great base camp that is centrally located near many hikes. Watching sunset from the balcony is a treat. I stayed in the chalets which are old and tired. Lots of broken, missing and patched things… It really needs a makeover. The hotel was empty and looks more modern — when I was booking however the hotel was 'full'. I suggest calling them to confirm if they have space.

Lovely hotel and get away.

Booking is terrible, Veronica charged is R60 cancellation for a child 4 weeks ahead of our booking, then the child ended up coming and it went from R100 per nights to R121 per night. She is not professional and rude, we will take our Business elsewhere.

We came here for our 30 aniversary. Hotel rooms realy'realy nice. One awsome view from the rooms. Not the least but the best food served in the restaurant. Well done to all. Rooms just need a small fridge to keep cooldrink cold. Excellent service. I will come here again. So many places to visit in the area. Well done guys!

A place to distress in the midst of bush life. There is hotel rooms, chalets and camping places. It caters for almost everyone and it's surrounded by great mountains. A lovely retreat or holding an event.

Stayed in the chalets just below the hotel. At first it seemed like a perfect place beautiful surroundings, away from busy cities secluded so I figured quiet. Until, we went to bed. Sounded as if I stayed right next to hendrik potgieter. Temperatures go as high as 30 but not a single fan. Water was either slightly dirty or it looked as if I was pumping sand into the bath. Also no shower just a tiny bath that won't fit any average sized adult. I'd much rather go stay at kiara lodge. Maybe they can actually provide clean water.

Well priced, the food offering was very good I enjoyed the dinner, took the Holkrans trail refreshing and beautiful especially after the rains. Fantastic views, the mountains are picturesque surrounded by lush grenary.

Good value for price and majestic surroundings. Self catering chalet people can go to hotel for meals so dont have to bring own food if there for a few days.

Perfect for those last minute breaks away from Jozi when the snow hits! Good Breakfast and excellent views.

The rooms are not big! The view from the rooms is magnificent!

I stayed at a Chalet and it had an amazing view at night with a light beaming towards the cliff on the other side. Good house working staff. Satisfied.

Ok. Scandinavian style refurbishment to die for. I love this hotel. I'd stay here even if it had no scenery.
