Bad experience with the staff completely lacking communication skills.
They didn't let us stay at the same table (3 adults and 2 kids — 4 & 6). We fully agree with the rules during the pandemics, but this was their own interpretation. They suggested to put the kids at a different table :)
So we didn't stay.
Excellent view, indeed.

Last time I was here was at the end of february, but I forgot to post a review.
Pros:
Nice view on the terrace, the service is ok, friendly staff and the lemonade is good.
Cons:
First of all, everything in overpriced. The salads are bad and the worst of all it's the coffee. I think it's "Julius Meinl Caffe" or something like that, but I don't know if the coffee is that bad, or they don't know how to make a coffee, because it tastes like burnt coffee.

Beautiful place. Eat delicious.

Lacul Gilau is the Romanian Bali! :) — still missing this wonderful place. We've been there for a couple of days but what we've received are more than nice memories: kind faces, amazing view, great tastes and very nice people. I recommend Motel Gilau from all of my heart to everyone who wants to relax, eat well, slow down and meditate a little bit in a peaceful atmosphere.

I always come here when I come in Romania… This is a soul place for me. The view is amazing, the people are so nice and available and the food is excellent. Their fish and their papanasi no comment… just try it! The best place to eat and to chill if you're in Cluj!

The place is beautiful, romantic, the restaurant is good, the rooms (Studios) leave something to be desired.

Worst caprese salad I have ever eaten. Not only I waited over 1 hour but they forgot ingredients also.

Lovely view, very dissapointing food.

Patio away from Lake has only grilled meals. They brought my meal with the mushrooms missing and apologized that "someone had eaten them". They forgot about our order for some food and didn't even bother apologizing. Food wasn't too great either. Is this a place for non-smokers? No! Smokers are going insane infesting the patios all over this country since the new laws. Great place for kids? NO! IF you remotely care for the health of your children you won't bring them here to have people fill their lungs with smoke.

Great location, food excellent, staff friendly and fast service at the right point to enjoy the great view of the Lake. The rooms are a little dated and should be modernized but still clean.

Waiter lazzy: not served us in time + no salt cellar + fish weight doubled to pay it more! Somebody call an official organs to controll this thiefs.

Nice view but very poor service though. After 20 minutes of waiting nobody came to our table although we did raise our hands. And we were 5 persons. Lame.
