This is a humble accommodation about 20 minutes walking distance from the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. Not many people stay in this hotel that appears to be family run. The rooms are pretty old but mostly clean. I wish they would take the hair off the century old blanket. For the price, the room was acceptable. The breakfast is very humble with about one scrambled egg for each customer, stale bread and some fruits. They seem to make do with such a small budget, you don’t want to take away from them by eating too much breakfast. The Wi-Fi works okay and the TV channels seemed to work in the evenings only.
Cute hotel, a bit far from the center (a twenty-minute walk to reach the plaza de armas), consisting of 2 courtyards (one with ground floor 1 floor, the other consisting of ground floor plus 3 floors) covered with glass. The face of the rooms is on the courts. No elevator. Large room, décor a bit dated but okay. In the bathroom there is, as in all peru, a container to throw the used toilet paper (which should not be thrown in the toilet) : in all the hotels where I have been this container is for obvious reasons with lid, here instead is an open basket, and it is not pleasant see toilet paper. TV not working on the various days I have stayed overnight: from what I understand (the staff speak only Spanish) is a fault that affects the whole television system. Weak Wi-Fi in the room and often you can not connect to the internet, perfectly functioning at the reception. Simple but good buffet. It is however, also in view of the good price, advisable.

Let me preface this review by saying Peru has very different safety standards then the US. If you go in expecting standard safety precautions that we have in the US you will hate all of Peru. Widows open into enclosed courtyards, the hallways and stairways are not lit at night and bathrooms have no ventilation. A previous review stated they made breakfast and coffee for them for their macchu picchu trip, this was NOT our experience. I asked if we could have breakfast and coffee ready at 4:50am for our machu picchu voyage that started at 4:55am and I was told "no! ", that breakfast starts at 630am, no exceptions. I also fell down their dark stairway the morning of our trip since there are no lights at night. A busted ankle at machu picchu is not good. In spite of all the bad I give this hotel 4 stars because it has a charming atmosphere. Some of the concierge were helpful and like most people we encountered in the beautiful town of Cusco they are just trying to make an honest living. They do the best they can. SO if you are looking for a clean, nice place to sleep in cusco this hotel will work. If you want something close to the shopping and historic buildings this is a medium walk. DO NOT PICK THIS HOTEL if you want to eat before macchu picchu!
