Atawkama Hostel Hostel

Hot showers, convenient laundry service (there are cheaper if you look around), computer room, yummy breakfast, all a brisk walk from Cusco's city center. My only gripe would be the mattresses seemed a little old.

Very friendly staff, and cheap rooms. On the downside, it can get really, really cold inside rooms.

Atawkama hostel is awesome. Etso and his staff are super friendly and helpful, the beds are very comfy and the yard is a great place to make new friends! Highly recommended for anyone who stays in Cusco and plans to go to Machu Picchu.

Very Good Energy, location and breakfast. There Are a few stairs around the corner to look at the city from above.

Nice place and welcoming. Unfortunately it is cold in the rooms. It is difficult to warm up in this hostel.

Vital location with people from all over the globe… very functional with small Internet issues.

This place is cosy and economic. The beds though are of very bad quality (my back was almost touching the wood pallet) and almost solely hosts very transient visitors that go on the machu pichu hike so if you're staying in the dorm and are a light sleeper you will be waking up a lot.

Stay only if you will be doing the matchu pichu trek as turists here stay only for this. High turnover also lack of travellers ambience. Just turists. Also very few bathrooms so get dirty quickly.

We went around Cusco downtown searching for a nice hostel. After a couple of them, we arrived in the cute and calm Atawkama. According to us, it offers the best price/quality ratio. The accomodation is (really) affordable, the breakfasts are nice (granolas, fruits, slice of pancake, bread…), they offer free storage & lockers while you're away — for Macchu Pichu for instance, computers are available as well. They offer tours via an agency, which had great recommendations (on TripAdvisor) but we didn't try it. The kitchen could benefit from a little investment, but is still very practical and nice to meet people.

I liked it very much! It is located a 10-minute walk from the central square of Cusco. The rooms are comfortable and safe, showers with hot water, Wi-Fi, the patio is comfortable enough to spend a good time, the hammock to relax and also has a room for watching movies and computers with internet access, the stay includes a very good breakfast and there is also access to the kitchen if you want to prepare something. The care is very good, all are very friendly. Excellent relation quality-price. Recommended!

Nice hostel with a great stuff, but it is cold in the rooms and in the shower.

What I take away from this place is the friendliness of the staff. I spent a month and I felt like at home! The rooms are spacious and the breakfast is very good! It has a TV room very comfortable with movies, board games, and 2 pc to use. You have a kitchen to be able to stewing and showers with hot water!. The location is good, because is only 4 blocks from the mercado san pedro, and this far away from the madness of the traffic and the people.

Great place! I only stayed one night, but wish had known the hostel before. The staff is very sweet, speaks English and really care about helping. Charming atmosphere with several chilling areas where people can meet. Definitely recommend it!

The only problem is that all the toilets are downstairs. But its a really nice hostel, quite, there are people all the time, they have storage for muchilas. Its including breakfest and a kitchen Have hot water in the shower Really good! A bit far from the center.

Hostel in an old cute building, therefore very cosy. Rooms are nice and clean. Living room is comfortable with TV and many DVDs!

Nicely located and inexpensive hostel with very good breakfast! The spaces are open and not well insulated so it gets cold in the evenings.

The best hostel in cusco by far… I highly recommend it 100% do not hesitate to stay here.

Ceilings are a bit low in private rooms. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast consists of some nice bread, small serving of pancakes, yogurt with fruit and some coffee. Door to our room was locked with a padlock. The problem with this was there was always a gap people could look in through and see any valuables in a large area of the room. Also a problem if your partner needs to go out of the room and it can't close the door all the way.

Average. Decent for the price.

Decent enough hostel, private rooms are good value for Cusco.

Great hostel. Best described as rustic as it's in an old colonial building, so a bit rough round the edges, but very easy to meet other travellers (not a party hostel, quiet after 11pm). Has a kitchen, quick walk into town. The staff don't all speak English, but it's pretty easy to learn a few words of Spanish and the rules, etc. Are written in english on the wall. It has a kitchen you can use. Loses a star for a mediocre breakfast, but you can get a great one elsewhere for less that 10 soles.

Was quiet, nice, clean, the average price.

I stayed 3 weeks, very good! I recommend this place! Hasta luego.

This hostel was amazing! Not only were they very accommodating with extra added days but Edson, the manager was able to help 7 of us in getting to Machu Picchu with only 2 days notice! It was clean, the bathrooms had hot water and the beds had enough blankets for the cold nights. Thank you for making Cusco that much better!
